Beachfront motel for 60-70 bucks a night, can't beat the price. The place is falling apart, but clean, and probably the best deal in the area. Upon lookin gout the balcony, we noticed that this particular section of the beach seemed to be a surfer's paradise. So if you're into that, this would probably be an ideal place to stay. You can literally walk out the back door to the beach, and yes, you can drive on it, too. Just don't expect mints on the pillows or a jacuzzi - this is a bare bones kind of place, and it suited our basic needs (ocean view and a bed) for the night, but it's not going to win any beauty contests.
The Motel is located about 2 miles from the historic section of St Augustine in a very, very quiet, sleepy area.

Great views from all the rooms.  I was on the first floor, and I could still see the ocean from my balcony, granted it was just at certain angles, but hey, I could still see it.
The room is what I expected from an inexpensive hotel along the beach.  Decent but not great beds, clean, but I wore shoes in the room.  The shower was okay, but not strong enough to easily wash the sand from my legs and feet.
It is the location of the hotel and the great law enforcement discount that makes this place so worthwhile.  Right on the beach, okay on as close as you can be without stepping on the protected dunes, a block away from a publix and a surf shop, and most importantly for me, a great starting point for a beautiful run that took me across the intercostal and the marshes.
Also, it is a brief and easy drive to down town St. Augustine, as well as a fairly simple drive back out to 95.
Another thing I like is the woman who runs the place.  There is no way to make reservations over the computer.  Everything is done in writing and over the phone.  When I arrived I had to sign the little card that had a carbon copy sheet in it.
