We decided to go to St-Augustine for my birthday week-end and made the mistake of choosing this place. We are on a budget but the photos looked nice so we thought it would be fine. Well we got there and my fiance overheard some guy asking the front  desk for an ashtray because he's been "using the drawer for his ashes". Later on that same guy offered us some beer....because he "has too many of 'em". I felt like I was in redneck country. The room needed more than just a paint job, most of the corners were rusty, the toilet didn't flush properly, the shower curtain was half off, oh yeah and I found a hair in the tub and one of the blankets had a huge hole in it. We paid for a "beach view" which was actually "indoor pool/grass view". We were there for two nights and the second night (Saturday night), a bunch of high school kids (like 30-40 of them) showed up drinking by the pool, laughing and screaming all around the property. Late at night they tried to go to the indoor pool but got kicked out. That's what you get when you get when you go to the cheapest place on the beach. We wanted to save money but didn't think that the place would be this bad. I kinda felt dirty for a few days after leaving. Next time we will pay the price to be in a clean, and quiet location!

By far the WORST hotel I've ever stepped foot in. The lobby was dirty and smelled like vomit due to the fact they have a bunch of birds right in the middle of the lobby. The room was dirty and I don't mean housekeeping forgot to clean dirty I mean you need to rip everything out and start from scratch dirty. The housekeepers don't even have cleaning supplies, sheets or toiletries in their carts. The bathtub & sink would not drain and they did not have a maintenance person to fix it. There were bugs in the room. A/C would not cool below 78 I could go on and on. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE sad to say because it is in a great location on the plus side the pool is nice and its by the beach. but seriously its sooo bad :/ and dirty.

This resort is a DUMP!!  Do not let the "Photo-shopped" pictures fool you like they did me.  I have never-ever left a hotel but when my daughter found bed-bugs in her bed, that was it!!  We left and stayed at the "Days Inn" which in its simple, clean manner felt like the Ritz-Carlton compared to this dump.  The first room we were given smelled so strongly of urine we couldn't stand it.  The second room had the closet door propped up on a wall next to the closet; filthy carpet; smelly, tiny, grey colored towels; stained and nasty looking furniture and drapes that were hanging off the broken rod.  We couldn't get out of there fast enough.  My daughter had her dog with us so we were limited regarding places to stay.  I wouldn't even let her dog spend the night there----disgusting.  I see that people have been complaining about this dump for the last two years.  All hotel sites should remove this dump from their list as they're going to alienate their customers.

    STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP!!!

I have travelled all over the world, and love St. Augustine, but this hotel "resort" (what a joke) is filthy, bug-ridden, moldy, ill-kept with (even worse) the most rude staff I have ever encountered in my life (no exaggeration). No towels, moldy walls with wallpaper falling off, scratched filthy furniture, leaking fridge onto dirty carpets.  The "deluxe oceanfront room with a patio" was a joke. A filthy broken-locked door leads to a broken cement 2 x 2 slab with no chairs, tables and beer cans and cigarette butts in the weedy landscape. No access to the beach due to beach excavation, which we were not told, so there was NO beach access for $180/night w/taxes. Pool was OK, staff was nasty, rude and the "life guard" (again a joke) looked like a stripper and pissed off every guest. Rude, yelling, banning kids from the pool while she threw her friend's kids in - guest sat on a chair, which broke beneath him, other friends of guests were kicked out of the pool area because they weren't guests (though their sign out front says "pool party", and were allowed to pay for drinks in the crappy tiki bar. I cannot say enough or warn you enough - stay anywhere but there. They ruined our weekend from the get go. My sister in law checked in at 12:30, we met their family at the hotel, and before I could get "good afternoon" out of my mouth, the nasty front desk clerk told me in no uncertain terms she would not check me in until 3. Would not tell me which room I was in, would not accomodate me at all. Walking with all of our stuff to her room, the rugs were filthy, no paint in the hallway, no security (broken), mold, heat, no air conditioning, moldy smell and bugs.  I am reporting these guys to the health department.

I really wanted to love it! The website is amazing..really sets you up for a great relaxing time. This used to be a HOJO, I believe, and it is depressingly run down. When I got there they tried to downgrade my room casually (they might get by with this sometimes if a guest does not pay attention to the price they paid for a certain type of room VS where their room ends up on the map), when I went to the room, it had not been cleaned and the sheets were all over the floor, I had to go down and have them re-key the room twice, and never got it to work - at least they were kind enough to release me without charge so I could go elsewhere. The staff was nice, and so I feel bad that they're stuck with trying to please guests in such horrible conditions. I saw someone else post that this is not a "resort" and they are ABSOLUTELY correct. This is a one star hotel at best.

This had to be the worst of the worst.  0 stars is what it should receive, and it is a shame, because the "motel" has the possibility to be a wonderful place!  It is on the beach, right next to the pier in St. Augustine on Anastasia Island.  There is no onsite dining there are 2 pools, one in and one out. The indoor pool was coated in pigeon poop, and definitely not enticing....  We checked in to our 1st room on the ground level.  The carpet was soaking wet, the toilet wobbled, to the point I was afraid it would fall, the bathroom smelled of mold.  The A/C didn't work nor did the T.V. - in fact when we called the front desk to complain about the T.V., the woman told us to try channel 3, because that is all they got.  After informing them of the A/C, we were relocated to another room towards the back of the building, this faced the beach and the pigeon altered pool.  This room was a step above, but not too much of one. It had an old refrigerator on a table that the paint was peeling and rusty, it also didn't work. The A/C did work which at this point we were just happy as it was 90 degrees and humid.  The T.V. had far more channels than 1, the bathroom was moldy, and gross.  In a nut shell, if someone were to give me money, I could totally turn this place around, but in the current state, stay far away....very far away.

This place is not even worth a star.  If I could give thumbs down I would give 5.  I specifically asked for a renovated room with a king sized bed.  Let's start with the bed.  Visible mold on the mattress, cigarette burns on the blanket, stains on the sheet and a small square of fabric under the sheet as the mattress pad.  There were brown stains on the pad that you could see through the sheet.  The mattress was so old you could feel the springs.  The room made me want to cry as we were paying $140/night to stay in a place which made me fear for my health.  There was a clear stench of mold when you walked in the room.  I could go on. DO NOT STAY HERE.  We found a wonderful 3bd2ba rental for the wknd at theoceangallery.com for only $634 for 2 nights and all of our group. Stayed comfortably with beach access and a private pool and hot tub. No shady people and a wonderful welcoming staff.

I take one star reviews seriously and have given only one other business a one star rating (and that business closed down the next day).

If this "resort" follows the same fate, it will be a favor to St. Augustine travelers.

Plain and simple, this is resort is a run down trash pit and looks nothing and I mean nothing like the pictures on their website.  The absolute only redeeming quality of this hotel is that it's on the beach.  Aside from that the hotel features unsavory people loitering around the property, smelly rooms, broken locks, unhelpful staff, dirty towels, broken appliances... I could go on.

I would never, ever stay here again, and would never, ever recommend it.  Read other review sites and they'll back me up too.

    This place is a scam.

I am completely amazed that these people have the audacity to call this place a resort.

To start, the shower in the room didn't work. When I called the front desk, I was informed that there was no one to handle maintenance requests at that time, so we switched rooms.

But before I even had time to be annoyed about the shower, I was disgusted by the state of the room. It was dusty; the carpet clearly hadn't been vacuumed in a long time, and there was trash in the bin. And there were so many patch up jobs from dents in the wall or other mishaps; it was unreal.

The phone is our second room didnt work, so to get a hold of the front desk I had to call them with my cellphone. In general, getting a hold of the front desk (whether calling with questions after I booked it or while actually staying there) was nothing short of a miracle wrought with busy signals, no answers, or dropped calls.

I awoke early Sunday morning and tried to connect to the wifi. The wifi didn't extend to my room, so I went for the front office. It was closed till 7:30a; however, I tried to use the wifi standing outside the door. I was in range there, but username/password I was given "were already in use." I tried to use the other option the front desk attendant told me of the night before, and that way tried to get me to pay.

The "breakfast" they served was one package of donut holes and one package of mini muffins for all the guests to share.

The sink water temperature, no matter how long we ran it, was lukewarm, and the shower water didn't get hot at all. That in particular was a shame because the actual shower looks pretty cool, but without hot water, it is completely worthless.

I completely understand the phrase, "You get what you pay for," but even the relatively inexpensive amount I paid for the room doesn't even give what I paid for. It was cheap, but not as cheap enough to excuse such poor quality.

This place's location on the beach is certainly what is keeping the business going, but I am here to tell you that on no level is this dung pile worth it. I have never in my life had worse lodgings than this, hostels to inns to motels to hotels included.
