I stayed in Sanibel in March 2013, all the necessities are here in siesta key.  The rooms are a little dated, the place could really use some updating and it would be just perfect.  Slap a coat of paint on it and it would of gotten another star.  The place was booked solid- High season and we got it last minute- the price is way up there compared to similar properties in the area that are better maintained for a lower price.  I did however enjoy my stay here, the owners were very friendly, the pool was great and I love grilling on the weber.
The place is located a block or so from the beach- it is on a dead end street that dead ends on crescent beach which is the end of the south side of siesta key.  I dont get into lugging things to the beach so we would generally grab a couple of beach towels, some sunblock and some drinks and it makes for a very relaxing day.. You are real close to sarasota and about a 45 minute drive north to Sun City Center, if you have family.
I would probably not stay here again as I have found several locations at a much lower rate in the area.  (High Season March) $1,458.00 for 6 nights total.  I did enjoy my stay but this is about a $75 per night place and here is why:

    Stayed in Sanibel room-
All power outlets are wore out can not hold a cell phone charger- $1-2 to fix per outlet
    Hinges rusty and need replace
    Windows Dirty and need cleaning
Couches lousy and uncomfortable wicker furniture
    Staircase crooked and needs paint
Pool area needs clean up and more tropical- get rid of sea shells by grill and ping pong table bad for bare feet.
Two area on property that are poorly taken care of - Looks like a garbage dump on side and by trellises in pool area- Clean it up
Paint everywhere outside that is not crisp
Notes everywhere on what to not do- dont turn thermostat below 72 on ac or $50 bucks to de-thaw line? I can fix this with some foam and a proper tune up
get brochures off front table and in books in the room- books on what to do-need to be put into plastic and sealed in binder.
Doors and walls are all marked up from wear and need repainting
replace all outlet covers- about .25-.50 each
A little art work to go with the themed roooms
I would recommend hotel impossible out here.

For 1/2 of what I paid in rent for one week, I could make this place look like a top notch villa, for the other 1/2 I could have this looking like a luxury apartment.

Some people may look at this as a laundry list but it is reality, and while I am from a blue collar neighborhood and had a tough upbringing in Chicago, I expect these little things to be handled while I'm on vacation, this shows me laziness and a lack of respect for one's own property.  I am not complaining as most of this dont bother me -but I know of many people that just would not want this at all.. The big red flag should be the no refund policy once your booked... I did find several other property's on the beach at a much lower rate.
