3.5 stars

Randomly in Sarasota for a racket ball tournament, and the tournament officials listed this hotel as the official hotel for all players to stay at.  It was down the street from the YMCA where the tournament was being held.

So, for a Best Western, what can you really expect?  I mean, its obviously not the Ritz.

The rooms were clean and neat.  Housekeeping was trustworthy (I left my iPod Touch on the bed one morning when we were rushing to get to the trounament, and I was actually kind of worried it would go MIA, but instead was placed neatly on the nighstand.

The bathroom was also clean and kept stocked with fresh towels.  Toilets were spotless, sink didn't back up, shower was really white and felt sterile...

Being that we pretty much were only in the room to sleep, "it'll do Pig"...  :)

One thing I will say, which knocked off a full star, was the desk agent that was there in the middle of the night when we arrived.  The guy was so rude and disinterested in assisting us.  As it was we arrived at 3am and all we could think of was sleep.  He made it seem as though we were bothering him by checking in and waking him up...  Oh well.  Can't win them all.

I have no complaints, so five stars it is.  Clean, friendly and helpful staff at the front desk, reasonably priced, and conveniently located.  I felt safe walking around day and night.  Rt. 41/Tamiami Trail is busy, but driving or walking on a parallel street makes the area feel more small town.

One star for location.  One for the staff.  But the beds were horrible.  I could feel the springs in the mattress.  Checked out promptly, in pain, after a sleepless night to look for another place.  They did let us try another room but the mattress was in the same sorry condition.  Was told this is standard for their motels.  Last time at any Best Western.

We just spent six nights at this hotel. I had stayed here previously & returned because of the great customer service & clean, comfortable atmosphere. First of all, everyone that worked there, with the exception of the evening/ night desk male manager, were extremely friendly & knowledgable about the area & willing to help out with any problem we had. The rooms were clean, but some days our bed sheets weren't changed & we didn't receive clean towels, but when we told the front desk, it was taken care of immediately. The pool area was extremely clean & one of the best maintained that I ever been to. The free breakfast had many options, was very good & the young lady that maintained it was on top of everything & very friendly & enjoyable to talk to. This hotel is in a great location & at a great price, so I would highly recommend it & I will stay here again my next visit. The only minor complaint I had was the attitude of the evening /night desk male manager who really made no effort to help us out & make things right and especially because if the friendly, helpful, awesome attitude the day staff had, he made a negative impression. Great place. Check it out!

Awesome hotel, location is perfect, so close to the beach and grocery, free breakfast has a better selection than I thought (hard broiled eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy, cereals, waffles, bagels and muffins).  The room is cute and very clean.  The only thing needs to improve is their free wifi, we stayed at the third floor but the signal is so weak and can't even get any access.

Two star hotel with a pool and walking distance to Chipotle Mexican Grill.  There was a foul musty smell coming from our room but you can't beat the price if you get a good deal.  The free breakfast was really good though, a nice added value.

This hotel is rated 3star hotel, it should be a 2 or 1 star, back in May I decided to take a trip up there with family of 4, made reservations through Orbitz for two rooms, when we arrived at almost 10 pm, they could not find our reservations, apparently they had had a major power out the night I made my reservation, after long waiting and not being able to find reserv, the attendant wanted to put us all four into a 1queen size bed room with two roller beds claiming he had no other rooms, mind you I was the only under 50 yo in the group so that was not an option. We called the other Best Westerns in the area but all were booked. Finally he told us he had two 1-king sized bed rooms which he could accommodate us for that night until a single room like the one we had reserved became available. The elevator was very old and would stay closed for long periods of time, making you feel trapped. We arrived at our designated rooms and within 5minutes we saw COCKROACHES, med to small ones in both rooms, we were grossed out but it was midnight and no one had energy to start searching for a new hotel. Next day we transferred to the 2beds room we had originally reserved and once again:cock roaches!, all in all we stayed in 3 different rooms in this hotel and all had cockroaches. Go at your own risk, they should drop the price if that's the kind of crap you'll have to put up with.

Like others have noted, there are roach problems in some of the rooms.   Our room (137) had 4 or 5 big ones that came out during the night and many small ones in the corners of the walls.   It was the middle of the night and so we weren't eager to start driving around for another hotel to stay in.  We were offered to change rooms, and found our next room to smell like cheese.   Our third room was much better and cleaner... although I would avoid this place next time in town.

Smells of mildew, and I wasn't going to write a review until I saw a cockroach shimmy across the wall! Other than that everything was clean. I might just have a bad room but I can tell you I definitely won't be returning

I'll give them the breakfast. The breakfast lady was very nice and everything tastes good except for the rotten oranges .. Cough... Anyway the best was super comfy as well until I turned on the light and noticed how disgustingly dirty it was. The towels had been used and refolded and one was still soaking wet and another partially wet and nasty case of mold and mildew on the ceiling. Did we get a refund? NOPE we got sent to another room where apparently the same maid took care of. I asked for new towels and sheets they said their cleaning lady's are only there in the morning and they can bring sheets but WE WOULD HAVE TO PUT THEM ON. .... Deep breath.

I stayed here one night and found this to be an excellent motel for the price.

The room I got was clean and comfortable. I didn't have any problems sleeping. It comes with a coffee maker in the rooms, high definition television with all the major cable channels, and my room also had a microwave and refrigerator.

The location is great, too. There's a supermarket right across the street, and also a Starbucks and Panera Bread. I left my car at the motel all day and was able to walk to everyplace I wanted to visit. Downtown Sarasota is an easy mile and a half walk away, and it's pleasant to walk up Orange Ave and look at the nicely landscaped yards and pretty houses.

The breakfast they have is a little better than average. I had a biscuit, orange, and cup of milk. There's also some pastries, bagels, toast, a waffle maker, and some cold cereals.

The only problem is that they advertise free wifi, but my room had no signal whatsoever. I could get a signal in the lobby and breakfast area, but not my room. This is something to watch out for if this is important to you.

Only reason we stayed here was there were absolutely no other rooms available in the entire area. The location is ok, but the rooms are really really basic. The price should have been no more than $70 but we ended up paying $160/night. Definitely not worth it. I also saw a roach in the bathroom, like a lot of the other reviewers. The walls are so thin I could hear everyone walking by. There was some sort of youth team staying on the floor and they were super loud. Don't even bother with the breakfast.   The bagels tasted like cardboard and even the coffee wasn't good.

The BF and I picked this hotel last minute while driving down to sarasota for a mini weekend getaway. We booked only 1 hour before arriving but there was no problems at check in and they were all ready for our arrival when we came into the lobby. The service associate at the desk was friendly and prompt. We got our room keys and headed up to our room on the second floor. This hotel is a bit old and outdated, especially from the looks of it on the outside, but the inside of our room was surprisingly nice. For the low price we paid for the hotel, we weren't expecting it to be as good as it was honestly. The bed was firm & comfy, the A/C worked well, there was a nice flat screen TV with plenty of channels and the Free WIFI worked perfectly. The decor was nice overall and the cleanliness level was good, except for one thing. The bathroom/shower was a bit grody and there was discolored paint in the bathtub which made it look dirtier. There was also hair on the bottom of the bathtub too. Yuck. But besides that everything was up to par and we were satisfied, especially considering the last minute circumstances and the low price.

In the morning we went to go check out the free breakfast bar, which my expectations of were low to begin with. My intuition was right. Very limited items, no hot eggs or bacon, just some sad looking biscuits/gravy, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and pastries. Again, it wasn't terrible, but not something I would look forward to eating again. There is a pool on site, but with the beach being so close by I can't see why anyone would want to use it.

One great thing about this hotel is the LOCATION. It's located really close to the southgate mall, downtown historic district, siesta key beach and st. armands circle. There's tons of restaurants around as well. So overall the hotel satisfied our needs and we enjoyed staying here for the most part.
