We blocked rooms here for our wedding guests because we were getting married nearby. The location is great but their service is not. It was almost impossible to speak with someone who would help. Also, don't bother with Welcome Bags because they won't make it to your guests' rooms. Basically, if all you're looking for is an affordable, no frills motel/hotel near the beach for a small number of wedding guests then this is the place. If you have a lot of out-of-town guests or are looking for a hotel that cares about your wedding then look in downtown.

So there was this girl I met on a dating site before I came down to visit this area. She was a realtor and besides indicating she wanted to meet me, she also told me to stay at this hotel and hooked me up with a special rate of $84.15 for a King suite (it was a weekend). So this is the deal, if you want to stay here ask for James in the sales office and tell him that Lesley said you could get us "that special rate" James was a great guy, but I never actually met him, but he did upgrade us to that suite which was very nice of him. Now, I will say that I got the room, but did not get the girl as she dusted me off like well dust. The place was close to the beach and village (10 minutes) and even though the breakfast is free, there is a Dunkin Donuts right next door if you want to upgrade your coffee experience. Oh yes, there is also a Pancake making machine at breakfast. Personally have stayed at a zillion hotels, but never seen this puppy. Press a button and about 4 minutes later, two really flat pancakes come out. I never tried them myself, but it was just fun watching a tiny machine churn out some hotcakes.

October 2008, needed a place to stay in this area and found some great rates for this Holiday Inn Express - $67/night, so we grabbed it. I know it was off season, but these rates were even below off season! Booked direct off their site (which was 1/2 the price of CheapTicktes, Priceline, etc)
Let's get the bad out of the way..... toilet had a very weak flush. Had to visit housekeeping to pick up a plunger and we were VERY careful the 2 days we stayed there after that. 'Nuf said. Also, upon arrival, there were a few dead, flying insects (no, they were no longer flying, THEY WERE DEAD!) on the AC unit. Noticeable, but not that nasty. Should they have been seen and cleaned?.....yes. But no biggie, brushed them into a wastebasket and that was it. Finally, the hair dryer did not work (yes we followed all the instructions and are not idiots!) So that is all the bad. But, the good things FAR outweighed the bad, especially the fact that you are so close to Siesta Key, the main attraction!
Looking past those few bad things (I know, you are still trying to picture those bugs....FORGET THEM!) , everything else here was great. The desk clerks were very helpful and friendly, explaining directions, eating places, etc with ease and no complaints. There is a popcorn machine in the lobby as well as free water bottles for guests. Both came in very handy for the 2 days we were there. A nice touch.
The expanded continental breakfast included the usual fare (cereals, oatmeal, fruits, juices, coffee, danish, breads, etc) and also included bacon, sausage and eggs kept warm under glass. We felt no need to seek out breakfast elsewhere with everything they had to offer here. And it was all tasty as well.
The area is safe and parking was not a problem. There is also a private outdoor heated pool that was very clean and a hot tub. We are not hot tub people (all those bacteria... breeding... growing... seeking refuge in your private parts, yum! lol...not a comment on their hot tub, but ALL hot tubs in general!). But the pool was great, even if it is not a diving pool, max depth 5 feet. They also supply towels poolside, so no need to bring towels from the room. Nice seating area and lounge chairs.
And the important part... room (1st day bugs aside) was clean and had everything we needed. Spacious bathroom, comfortable beds, good sized make up area, iron, AC worked great, cable TV, wireless internet (secured through their system), refrigerator, coffee pot, etc.
You are about 5 minutes away from the beach. If you felt like it, you could probably even walk over the causeway to Siesta key. If you have never been to Siesta Key, that is the whole reason you are here. Clean beach, beautiful, fine, white sand. You will find very few other beaches like it. Remarkable, really. I have never seen sand like that in NJ and I have been up and down 'the shore'. As much as I love NJ's shore, there is nothing like clear blue water and sand as fine as hourglass sand that you find here at Siesta Key!
For the rate, we cannot complain and thoroughly enjoyed our stay even with the few negatives we experienced. We would definitely stay here again at the same price (or maybe even a little higher....shhhhh!)
You can't go wrong and remember, it's all about that beach!

Let me start by thanking Maggie for her excellent service - she gets full 5 stars. She helped us over the phone with directions, and when we finally got to the hotel she recognized us with a smile on her face. very helpful, friendly and amazing customer service.
Hotel is comfortable, offers complimentary breakfast until 9:30am. It's close to a lot of restaurants - some even at walking distance - and just a few minutes drive from the beach, and bars. Rooms are clean, and comfortable.
Bad things about the hotel - the elevators are a sauna, you are better off taking the stairs. Also, the bathrooms are very small, and the room has AC Units - not enough to cool the whole room on a really hot and humid summed day. Still, for a weekend/ one night stay it's a good place to stay. Oh, and almost forgot - they have a popcorn machine right at the entrance so you can have a snack for your drive back.

We stayed here Feb 2012 for about a week and I was a little nervous at first when we pulled into the hotel, does not look like your normal Holiday Inn--this looked more like a motel. Well we got a room on the 4th floor, close to the elevator-room was not too bad. Served the purpose as we were there to visit the beach daily. We never used the pool as we did not have the need to. The front desk staff were quite pleasant. My husband was the only one who had breakfast, I was too lazy.
This hotel may be in Sarasota, but the drive to Siesta Key Beach is less than 2 miles, which is not bad at all. It is close to a lot of restaurants and shopping-a few within walking distance. There is a great ice-cream place very close to the hotel-Abel's ice-cream (try the coffee-chocolate).
Our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. So if you are planning a trip to Siesta Key--this hotel is not a bad pick. Only thing is i may have left my Birkenstocks in the room :(( my favorite pair. I forgot to call them about it.
