This is the perfect hotel in Sarasota for families or business travelers.  I have snagged rooms here for less than $100/night, and yet the decor and overall experience matches the $300/night hotel I used to stay at a half mile down the road.  It's not on the beach, but it's a convenient location not far from anything.  Lots of convenient shopping etc. right along Tamiami.  Close to airport.  A bonus for business travelers is that you can schedule business meetings right in the lobby/dining area...attractive, comfortable, and uncrowded.

if you want your stuff stolen or thrown away only to have the hotel tell you it's your fault and not replace it - then stay here. My retainers were thrown away by the housekeeping department. After escalating this to their so called "Risk Management" department... they accused me of lying and believed the housekeeper over me. the replacement cost of the retainers is $950!!! I am out that money as I have to replace the retainers as soon as I get back to Los Angeles.  they kept saying there is nothing they can do. I travel to Sarasota every two months for a week or two. that's revenue they are now losing which is about $4k-$6k a year. They value there housekeeper who made a mistake more than they value... a customer.  DON"T STAY HERE

Best three star hotel at a great price in Sarasota!  Conveniently located on Tamiami Trail, clean and updated hotel lobby and rooms, free continental breakfast, nice and friendly staff.

A colleague picked the hotel for a conference being held at the Hyatt Regency. She arrived hours before we did. So, there was some concern about getting in to the room. However, the front desk staff was extraordinarily nice and accommodating. The first downfall we noticed was that the light switch in the bathroom area is a combined fan unit. While this isn't out of the ordinary, the fan is terribly loud. It was enough to wake whoever slept in the be nearest the bathroom. The second downfall is with respect to the sink area. It's a pedestal base with no counter space. While it'd be tight for one adult, it was difficult for three women. I've seen a number of reviews that liked the bed, but all of us found them far too soft. Each of us left with very sore backs after a three-night stay.
On the up side, the custodial staff was very nice and personable. The continental breakfast has a decent variety, too. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The location wasn't bad given where we needed to be. In all, it wasn't a horrible experience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there.

"Mr. Ryan, we have a king-sized room away from the highway, but...uh...it's a handicapped room.  It's designed to accommodate disabled people; for instance, the bathrooms are bigger.  Would that be ok?  It does have a little bit of a view."

Oh, sure.

Translation: everything is at waist level: the sinks, the light switches, the desktops,  the window ledges.  It was big, though.  You could drive a Prius around the furniture.

Art deco lobby was pretty interesting.   Breakfast:  not too shabby.  Bed & pillows were comfortable.  Wifi worked great.  Fridge & microwave.  Right about $100/night after taxes.  Perfect for my mode o' travel.

Another of the old ghetto motels bought by a franchisee.  Linens were worn, the whole place dated

Really terrific 3 Star hotel located on Tamiami Trail just minutes from pretty much everything in Sarasota. With great public access spots on Longboat and Lido Key you don't need to be on the beach, but you do need somewhere nice to catch some Zz's at a decent price.

I would have liked to see a jacuzzi with the pool and a few more options at the complimentary breakfast. Additionally, with the in-room air conditioning, you have to learn to tune out the buzz to go to sleep, but it did keep the room nice and chilly. Also the staff were all friendly, the place very clean and the wi-fi free.

Been here a few times now. Mostly due to the pet friendly policy. Simple, clean, and free continental breakfast and wifi. Nothing fancy so don't expect valet parking or massages. No flat screen TV.  It's a La Quinta after all. But if you're looking for a safe place to stay with decent bedding and reliable staff and free breakfast, you will be happy.  Small pool in the back. Located conveniently next door to a Subway. Very close to everything touristy in Sarasota.

I stayed here for a business trip and it was tough to get comfortable. The hotel location isn't that great, but then you get in the room and there are stains on the chairs and sofas. The TV is horrible and you can hear the dogs barking through out the hotel.

We can do better.

Friendly staff. Room was clean. Parking was always available and close to the door. Never heard a neighbor. Didn't hear Any road traffic. The only disturbance was other patrons noise in the hallway, which is out of the hotels hands.  I would stay again.

This hotel looked good from outside and the lobby was nice. When we entered our non-smoking room, the room smelled of smoke. I went down and told the front desk attendant who told me that they didn't have any other rooms. He handed me a bottle of "fresh scent" spray and told me it was the best he could do. The towels, sheets and bedspread had noticeable stains on them. The wifi was slow.

Overall, if you need a place to crash, this works. However if you're looking for a vacation spot, this isn't the hotel for you.

O.K. location. Good curb appeal. Great Pet Friendly policy.  Fabulous HD TV.  Worn carpet with stains. Bathroom small and ugly.  Bed was hard as a board.

Hubby and I give this place 3 star. The breakfast was weak! Mini waffles, apples, cereal or yogurt cups. The lobby was clean and well decorated. The room was a bit stuffy at first and had a slight smokey smell although it was supposed to be nonsmoking. The room was clean and the pillows and mattress were comfortable. The AC was a beast and kept it icy. It was in a good location...close to a lot of restaurants and not far from the beaches.

Great price but you get what you pay for. Love pets but when there are dogs barking and the management does nothing! Guess this is partially owner responsibility, however when approached the front desk about barking in the middle of the night, no help. A man let his dog pooh in the lobby (picked it up) and the front desk didn't even say anything. Dogs stay free... The room was okay. Bathroom wasn't clean, hair still in the tub, ring around the toilet bowl. At least the bed was comfy. The breakfast was a joke but the coffee machine worked 24/7! I will never stay here again or recommend this place to anyone.

Also, for some reason our keys stopped working three times.

We booked this hotel at a relatively inexpensive price, and my husband was scared to even enter the premise. I assured him that they've remodeled and cleaned up their image.  I was maybe sort of right.

The hotel seemed like it'd been cheaply renovated, and could've used another elevator.  I thought it was strange that there was only one ice machine on the first floor, and the breakfast was basically inedible.  (Really, the yogurt was curdling even though it hadn't reached its package expiration date, and my husband and I ended up going to breakfast at a nearby restaurant.)

The room was big enough and nice enough.  The bathroom was weird, as the toilet & shower were in one room with a door and the sink was out in the main room next to the entrance.  I suppose this is more motel-like than the hotels I'm accustomed to.

I wouldn't particularly recommend anyone staying here, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from checking it out. If you're looking for something inexpensive, give it a whirl.
