It's not the best hotel you can stay in.  Items left in the room after check out seem to magically disappear because retrieval isn't happening. The restaurant there is awful so make sure you get out to experience good food. It definitely won't happen at Crabby Bill's.

Our daughter recently moved to Tampa so we decided to come and visit.  Our budget was tight so when I saw the deal on Expedia for air fare and this hotel, we signed up.  I had read a lot of the reviews and I thought we would have a nice vacation.  We were placed in room 620 on the bay side.  The room's air conditioner put out  minimal air, and when a thunder storm came through the area, it started raining in our bathroom. We asked to change rooms; we were made to wait an hour until a room was cleaned for us.  The room we moved into obviously quickly cleaned; there was still hair in the bathroom from the previous occupants. The hotel is old and in need of updating.  The wall paper was bubbled in several areas of our room, and the carpet obviously needed updating.  The hallways were always warm.  The worse part, in my opinion, was the fact that every night until 11 or 12 Whiskey Joe's across the bay played loud music that can be heard in your room.  Every bass note is clearly heard. If you try to set out on the patio and watch the bay you can't because of the noise. The air horn is especially nice when you are trying to relax on your balcony. On Sunday night, we had a 5am flight; they had a band playing right under our window until midnight. The noise in the room was amazing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Extremely poor customer service.  First I called to let them know our flight would be getting in late. I tried three different times and all I got was sent  back to the same main switchboard recording whether I asked for Reservations, Business Office, etc.  so I sent them an e-mail with my questions and never got a response.  Finally I had to call the main reservation number for Best  Western.  They were helpful but couldn't find my reservation as it was made through Southwest rapid Rewards.  To top it off, the advertised free airport shuttle stops running at 10 though it was advertised until midnight.  Now we will be stuck with cabfare and they do not offer refunds as we had to pay in full in advance. At least the main switchboard managed to finally find the reservation that we had to pay in advance for.

Wonderful place for the price, well worth it.  Clean, comfortable, modern, food available late, and service was just right.  Booking from home is always a bit scary because your paying for something you haven't seen yet and surprises could be unpleasant.

I flew to Tampa for the weekend to visit the new Salvador Dali art museum in St. Petersburg.  I wanted to stay close to the airport and I found Best Western through hotels.com .  I was on a budget, but didn't want to stay at a really cheap feeling hotel.  I went with my gut and read the reviews..... I'm glad I did, long live reviews...

This place was surprisingly very good.  At about one hundred a night it was perfect.  I called from the airport and they sent a shuttle van to pick us up.  We arrived early and because the room was ready, they let us check in over 2 hours early.  The room was very clean, flat screen tv, and a balcony to smoke.  The hotel has a very nice, clean, pool and a nice view of Old Tampa Bay.  The next day when we got back from a long day of visiting downtown, the sheets and towels were replaced, just what you like to come home too.  They have a free internet station, which I used to check my email and flight schedule.  Restaurant next door that's open late and has breakfast.

The only negative I could fined is, the location is far from any other stores or restaurants.  Its located west of the airport and between St. Petersburg and Tampa.  This was perfect for me but something to consider.  Also ask for a room with the ocean view, otherwise you'll be looking at a parking lot.

Overall its wonderful, very clean and comfortable for the price.  Not a super luxurious place but definitely does not feel cheap.  I never once felt that I should of kept looking, If I ever go back, This is my place, No question.

    Really 2.75 stars.
    The good:
    - nice business center
    - friendly
    - exciting spot

    Not so good:
    - we were on 3rd floor, and noise from restaurant/bar resonated in our place until 2 in the morning on the weekend. This is main reason for low rating
    - - wireless internet is spottiy, at best; at worst, it was not usable
    - could not check out the night before we were leaving; had to do it that morning
    - our door key stopped work after first day and it took them multiple efforts to fix
    - lighting so dim in bathroom, was difficult to shave
    - tv stations have poor reception
    - our shampoo in the shower (a nice idea) was empty
    - no plastic inside of ice bucket (minor but indicative of general lack of attention to details)
    - everything is a bit aged and in need of some work

Change of owners or management recently. The place has gone downhill! Its crazy noisy on the weekends with music from across the water until 2am or so. The internet NEVER works. Just plan on no internet. The views are Great if you get an even numbered room. The pool is nice, but the guests have changed quite a bit since new mgt. Its more like trailer park people now it seems. Not that there is anything wrong with that.. I'm just sayin.
The walls are paper thin & u might see mold.  I do love the pillows & beds here.  Its a cheap place to stay... You get what you pay for....attatched to Crabby Bills. They just got a new tap for Guinness. It was great. Good place for booze. The food there is also 2 stars.

Came here to meet my wife's cousin who lives nearby. We were going to eat at the hotel restaurant then sit by the pool to catch up with a couple of drinks. When my wife's cousin got here they told her there was no valet parking available. People at the front desk were very rude. We instead got in her car and went elsewhere for dinner and drinks. Rooms were ok but limited channels on the TV. Internet is slow.

Four stars. The bed was comfy, the location was fantastic.  The hotel is a bit on the older side but they kept it clean and had very good rates for a bay view room.  We will definitely use this hotel for future weekend getaways to the Tampa Bay area.

The location gets this hotel an extra star.  The attached restaurant/bar can be VERY noisy at night, so if you are a light sleeper, ask for a parking lot view so you are on the other side of the noise.  But then you miss the great bay view.  Hmmm...you can't really win at this hotel I guess.

Nice location and very typical Best Western.  Clean rooms and the bonus is the deliver food to your room via the restaurant on sight. Inexpensive as well. Water view rooms have balconies, but they aren't really private.  And yes, it is noisy at night, probably mostly on the weekends, due to the restaurant across the way.  The noise does stop at 12am.  Pretty good fitness center.

If you want a restless night, this is the place to be. Hogans Beach restaurant and bar (which is attached to the hotel) has live music, usually rap or house music playing until 2am....even on Sundays! I overheard a staff member telling another disgruntled hotel guest that the noise is an ongoing problem. Several guests (including myself) were in the lobby area complaining the morning after our stay, and management did nothing about it.  Highly disappointed.

It's 1:23 in the morning and the music is not only loud from hogans but the drunk people under my window talking are keeping us up. Don't even get me started on the pool lack of testing the water and the triple capacity occupancy... Couldn't even get a chair by the pool today....letter to corporate will be sent in the morning...... Management? What management... Guests are shooting fireworks off the pool deck now...just don't stay here..trust me.

    I booked this Hotel through a "last-minute deal" with Hotels.com . Overall, it wasn't a horrifying experience.

We arrived, checked in quickly, and took the elevator to our room. We immediately noticed that we were given a double bed room, when we had paid extra for a King "With a City View". We went back downstairs to correct this simple mistake. The staff was very nice and gave us the room that we paid for.

However, on the elevator ride back up to our new room, we were accompanied by some very friendly guests that were completely wasted after coming back from the beach. One guy offered me a drink, and then proceeded to drunkenly pour something into my hands, which happened to be holding my non-water-resistant phone. Lovely...

We soon found out that there was a wedding going on, which I normally don't mind, but since the walls were very thin, we heard people partying all night, and in the wee hours of the morning, they woke us up with obnoxious laughter and the sound of bumping into things.

We ordered room service, which arrived promptly. The Brownie Sundae was very good and plentiful. It was probably enough to feed 4 people. Good job, restaurant.

The bed was the best part of the room. It was very clean, and well made. The A/C was able to get very cold, but the humidity in the room was almost unbearable. We woke up to nasty, sticky air.

Overall we had an OK experience. The pictures that we saw online of the "view" were a little misleading. Don't pay extra to see the parking lot and roof.

Below average. Traffic from Hogan's Beach makes getting in and out very frustrating.

The room is nothing great. Beds were comfortable enough, but the bathroom door wouldn't close and the toilet was close to impossible to flush. The railings on the deck were super cheap and wobbly. I wouldn't risk leaning against them anyway. The pool area is decent but there were tons of people ignoring all of the posted pool rules which just irks me... and there is no one from the hotel making sure that any of the rules are obeyed.

Staff is friendly and the front desk tries to be helpful, but really, the crowd at Hogan's Beach makes this an unlikable location. Look elsewhere if you want to enjoy your hotel.

Stayed here a couple weeks ago on a Thursday night!
I got a bay view room and it was absolutely stunning, especially the sunset.
I was worried about Logan's being a bit loud so when I reserved the room I made a comment to be away from the noise. I didn't find the noise to be too bad. I went to sleep around 11:30pm and it wasn't too rowdy or anything like that.
The spot is convenient with Hogan's connected to the hotel with decent drink and food prices. They also have a jet ski rental place next to it which was a good time (recommend it!).

The room we got was nice. Must have been one of the ones that have been newly remodeled.  Only complaint is I wish they had complimentary breakfast! But they did have a complimentary shuttle to the airport! :)

Extremely disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel. I've had great experiences at Best Western, but this was definitely the worst. Friend and I booked a room for 2 nights. Hotel seemed very clean, nice rooms. TV, balcony, etc. First night we found bed bugs in both beds. When we contacted front desk, we were told we would be "upgraded". I expected someone from management to come check out the room, no one did. When we went to the front desk, no one bothered to ask further questions or apologize. We were simply handed a different room key and a $20 certificate for breakfast.

It is very disappointing to have had a disgusting experience, and terrible customer service. I would advise staying at a different hotel, there are many others nearby with the same location convenience and I'm sure much better cleanliness.

Great hotel, great location for the price.  The rooms were very very clean and the pier is wonderful to walk and/or drink on!  There is  Hogan's Beach next door and the food there is awesome!

It was easy to get in and out of, and there is  bar right across the bay like 2 mins away called Whiskey Joe's that has a lot of stuff going on at night.

Clearwater Beach is 10 minutes down the causeway.. it's literally one turn out of the parking lot.  The Gulf beaches are just beyond...

I LOVED this hotel and will DEFINITELY come back next time i'm in Tampa.  It's the perfect location for inland and beach activities... love love love!!

My husband and I just spent 2 nights here.  I chose this hotel due to the low price, hard to find during season here in FL.  One of the elevators was broken so the line was quite long, we took the stairs up to our 6th floor room but being that we only had a couple of small bags it was no big deal.

I highly recommend spending an extra $10 a night for a view of the Bay because it is truly spectacular!  Watching the sunset at night was gorgeous and hearing all the seagulls really makes it.  We had chairs and a little table out on our balcony, great place to relax with a drink.  The mini fridge is very small and located in the bathroom which I found a little odd but it did the job.  The beds are really comfy also.

Down sides for us, right now now they're doing construction out by the road and it got quite loud.  Also, they started fixing the broken elevator at 8 a.m. in the morning, not very conducive for a hangover.  The shower has a soap dispenser which dispenses microscopic blobs of soap, not very effective.  The drapes were old and stained and our sliding door had a hodge podge repair.  But, with all that said, we would definitely stay there again!  The view makes it all worth it, Whiskey Joe's was great and the staff was very friendly.

Let's start with slowest free wifi ever.
But, as I sit in my room, which over looks the ocean and the best sunset I've seen in a  very long time, and I listen to covers of Bob Marley being sung from across the water, there is nothing better right now.
This is a cool spot. The location is righteous. Average restaurant attached, but great happy hour, and good snacks. Very reasonably priced.
The rooms are dated. but clean. Old school and prob perfect for a family vacation. Each balcony which overlooks the water is superb. The view is money.
If you face the parking lot...so sad, too bad.
Even the shittiest hotel is most awesome with a waterfront balcony, reggae music, and a glass of vino.

Only bad thing that I could think of is the Microwave. Its by the Ice machine.. huh?? So, if you decided to stubble out and around and wanna eat some food. You have to walk down the hall with your food in hand to use the microwave. kinda wierd

But anyway, did i mention The view??

The first thing they did was give me someone else's room who was already staying there. That could have been very awkward.  Secondly, there is an option for your breakfast to be sent up at a specified time.  Mine never showed and no one at the restaurant will pick up the phone.

The room is clean and average.  This hotel might be on the bay, but it's a $70 a night hotel, at best.  Look somewhere else if you can.

So I stay here every time I come to Tampa. Which is 3-5 times a year on business. I always love this hotel! Today was different!! When I checked in Robert Duato greeted me. I asked if I could get a water view.  Robert said sure for a $10 up charge per night.  I then asked Robert if the water side was pretty full? No not really... His response... So I ended up on the second floor with a parking lot view... Being in Hotel Management in the past. The customers on site are the ones to take care of. Robert does not feel this way! Clearly it is better to leave the rooms with a water view empty than to make the customers in house happy!! Robert has changed my view on this hotel! I will not stay here next time I am in town since the customer is last on the list of priorities. . Once again "ROBERT DUATO" Horrible customer service!! Thanks for ruining my time in town... Oh wait did I mention that I had a package delivered to the hotel? Well my package was in the bell man's closet buried under a stack of other boxes behind a couple luggage racks. Robert's response was for me to go dig it out myself.  He Sat there and watched me do it with a smile on his face!! Never Again!!!

7 hour drive from Atlanta to Tampa Bay we arrived around 10am. We went inside to see if we could check in earlier but we couldn't. My boyfriend and I went to walmart to pick up some last minute items for our cruise. That took about 30-1hr. By that time it was around late 11ish. We ended up going to long horn steak house.

Fast fwd to 2pm we are now checking inside our room. Nice size bed & room. We had a balcony overlooking Clearwater beach and it was beautiful. The internet was horrible I would've paid for internet to have it working. It took an hr to connect to the services then another hour to surf lol. I love that the hotel had a restaurant connected to it, We were able to visit.
Shower was lukewarm could've been better. Very easy to find the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying here check out my pictures.

We are currently staying at this hotel and have 4 nights left. It's just OK. Needs better upkeep, amenities are out dated, TV is not high def and a bit fuzzy. The walls of the hotel are very thin, plus Hogans Beach is loud and disturbing when trying to sleep. Glad we didn't bring our kids, due to the loud guests. Average hotel at best.

At first I thought that this was a great hotel to stay at,  but the minute I walked into our room, the first thing I noticed was the smell. It smelled like feces and burned popcorn,  and it hit your nose like a brick. After putting down our bags, I walked into the bathroom to do my business,  but then I noticed the bathroom too! The paint in the bathroom was done horribly, and looked like it was done by a stoner in a single afternoon! Then I looked in the tub, and there was hair in the drain, and the paint in the tub was peeling and falling off! Then we went to the hotel restaurant,  Hogan ' s Beach. A restaurant owned by Hulk Hogan, and the food there was delicious (the only redeeming factor), but then my son asked, does Hulk ever come by? And the sleazy manager said that if we came back every meal, every day, we would probably see him, but when we asked our waiter, he said that almost never came by. The manager only wanted our money! After that,  we had a few nice days of piece and quiet, but then we noticed that the cleaning staff comes by extremely late, at around 5 30, and sometimes even later than that. And my son's wallet was stolen!

Beware of Bed Bugs!! Like previous reviews this hotel has a serious bed bug challenge. I also was on the 5th floor and suffered bites all over my body. I woke up at 3:30 am on my first nite covered in bites and took pictures and video of the bed bugs on desk and bed (pillows and sheets). I went to check out at 4:00am and the night clerk stated he was sorry and when they get these type of complaints (meaning I was surely not the first and now reading here) that they offer a free breakfast which I see in reading other reviews here seems to be their lame go to response. Seeing as I was checking out before breakfast he then gave me a business card to contact the GM who might give me some kind of certificate. It is four days later and my body is riddled with bites. I would not want another guest to suffer through this. Stay clear.

This is a terrific hotel, located on a private sandy beach along the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Rocky Point. The 'Best Western' name doesn't do this place justice, as the hotel was originally built by the Steinbrenner family for a certain famous baseball team that makes their Spring training home in Tampa. In fact some of you might remember that this place was originally called "The Yankees Hotel".

Since that time the hotel has gone through several corporate ownership changes, and was the scene of a well-publicized shooting many years ago. Fast forward to today.... the hotel is part of the Best Western franchise, and is privately owned with brand new owners since the 2nd half of 2012.

Walking in the front door you'll see a lot of marble floor tiles, marble front desk, lobby tables, etc. At one time this place was very elegant, and certainly of the same quality as Hyatt's, Westin's, and other high-end hotels. The new owner restoring much of that high-end glory by revamping all of the rooms with large high-def flat-screen TVs, marble vanities in the bathrooms, and a number of nice touches. They are now ripping up the outdated carpeting, and removing the wall treatments for something cleaner and more chic throughout the main hotel.

In the off-season you can get a water-view room, facing west towards Clearwater Beach for less than $99 a night. It's a steal for a beachfront property, and I've had both family and business associates stay there over the years with extremely positive feedback. I've had the pleasure of sitting on the balcony of the higher-floor rooms with a bottle of wine, and watching some fabulous sunsets over the Bay.

The Best Western is less than ten minutes from Tampa International Airport, and they offer free shuttle buses to and from the airport, as well as to / from International Plaza and Westshore Mall. That's a nice touch for out of town guests who don't want to hassle with rental cars.

The restaurant (Crabby Bill's) is also going through a major overhaul right now. It will still be a classic Florida seafood house / beach bar, but more hip and CLEAN.

The meeting rooms are also being overhauled, and that work will run through the remainder of the year.

For right now the hotel is clean, convenient, and has some spectacular views with very affordable prices. Expect to see signs of renovation and construction, and bring some tolerance with you when you visit.

This hotel disappointed me because I've only ever had fabulous experiences at Best Westerns all over the world.  Since they're all franchised, most owners work hard to make their hotels unique and nice.  This place just sort of wreaked of low-end, out-of-date everything.

First, the main reason for my low rating was the musty smell of the room.  The air conditioner didn't function very well, which caused the room to feel extremely humid and then have this weird, musty, unclean smell.  I could not get over that at all.  This all caused very uncomfortable sleeping experiences for us and I felt awful the next morning.

Other than that, this hotel at least seems to have a lot of activities going on.  Hogan's Beach is a large bar/restaurant that is pretty inexpensive and open late.  The rooms above this area seem awful since the bar is loud, but we were on the opposite side of the hotel so that was fine.

I didn't check out the pool, but it looked really nice and there are a lot of rental options for jet skis, windsurf boards, etc. right outside the hotel.  This hotel's property is prime since it's on a private stretch of beach right on the bay.  I've heard and can imagine the bay views are spectacular, but our room overlooked the parking lot so we didn't really get to see any of that.

At least the parking was free and we were only about 30 minutes from Tropicana Field, which is the real reason we chose this place.  Prices are always over $100, which is no good for as run-down as this place seems.

So this place gets 2 stars from me barely. Went here with my family for vacation. The room is blah. They're currently doing construction so you have to deal with that noise during the day. I went to take a shower and noticed the tub was draining slowly. Turns out I guess they never clean the drain because I found large chunks of hair in the drain which didn't belong to any of my family members.

Went over to the Hogan's Beach restaurant and the food was okay. They tried to overcharge us for breakfast. They corrected it when I said something to them. They said the menu we had was outdated and the prices changed but they didn't mention it in the beginning.

Requested the shuttle to take us to the store. They said it was leaving at 2:30 went down there at 2:20 and asked if it was still leaving they said yeah. We waited and 2:45 came. We asked what was going on with the shuttle and they basically said oh well you missed it even though we were there. So we had to wait until 3:15 for the next one. All in all if you can find another spot do it.

Stayed here 8 nights. Housekeeping during the week we're wonderful but weekend housekeeping was terrible. No coffee, bath mat and didn't make the bed just tossed comforter over sheets that had popped off the corners. Very noisy kids running in halls doors slamming and loud music from the bar across the bay. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. Most staff was friendly. One staff (a small man about 40 with blond hair and mustache ) was dismissive when I asked if the front desk had an item I'd lost. He didn't even look just said no. I asked a nice gal the next day and sure enough my missing item was right there at the front desk

This hotel is very dirty. Lots of debris on lobby and hallway floors.  Strong odor of perfume everywhere to presumably hide other smells.  We had a room with a "city view".  It overlooked an enormous black top parking lot.  You could see a few small lights miles away on the horizon.  But basically this is a "parking lot view".  Hotel is VERY noisy.  Being on parking lot side we heard loud revving engines and extremely loud music at 2, 3, 4 o'clock in the morning.  Also, lots of loud drunks in the hallways at 3 and 4 am.   Hotel is near a causeway with high speed limit so you could hear cars racing up and down the causeway in late hours and early morning hours.  Lots of Harley's at all hour of the night.   A/C is a window unit that is loud especially when cycling on and off.     The elevators are very slow and there are only 2 for a very large hotel.  When trying to check in we waited 10-15 minutes--- housekeeping uses the guest elevators and had both tied up.   Front desk clerks are very unfriendly and unprofessional.  They seem as if they hate their jobs.   I asked for a printed receipt when checking out and they acted as if I was inconveniencing them.  When I looked at the receipt our dinner charges were on the bill but not our room charges.  The front desk guy just said in a hateful voice without looking up from his computer "its Expedia so its prepaid".   It was NOT booked though Expedia but rather the hotel. He treated me as if was an imbecile even though he was incorrect and was rude. I had to catch a taxi to airport so did not engage further with him.  Being high season, this was $156 per night with AAA discount. Way overpriced.

The value is more of a $35 per night hotel.  Very low end on amenities and cleanliness.

Food and drinks at Hogans restaurant next door was good in a nice outdoor setting (other than lots of smoking).

Obviously will never stay here again.

Stayed one night. Checkin is super easy and the folks at the front are very nice. I was initially given room 514 which was closer to Hogan's,and across from crabby's, bay view, and very close to pool. The view is good but not good enough. I didn't want to look down and see ass cheeks at the pool or look out the window from bed and see the restaurant across the water.
Called the front, spoke to Darling (?), who was able to find a view on the other end of the hotel: 546!!! Corner room!
Great service at the front desk!
Anyone else we saw wandering around didn't greet us. I could care less plus it's not the grand hyatt... No reason to smile at you. Haha.
Cleanliness: 4/5: clean rooms, clean comfortable beds, and rooms did not smell bad.
Amenities: 3/5: no complimentary water, not even with a price tag, you have to walk down the hall to the vending machine for a $2 20oz bottle water. What? Are we on a cruise ship?
    Wifi included.
No room service after 11pm. So you best go down to the restaurant for late dinner.
Breakfast: needs to be ordered by 3am the night before...... Ok... no breakfast in bed for us.
No valet. Parking lot had a security guard looking bored as hell. There was also a security guard who was alternating  between the chair right outside the sliding doors and the seat right inside. No problem finding a parking space even late at night.

TV: 5/5 nice tv and had many channels.
Coffee machines, fridge, tea, but no water, combo shampoo/conditioner, soap bars, no tooth paste.... Nono... I packed tooth paste... Thanks for your concern.
View in room 546: nice. Corner balcony with beautiful views. I wish the balcony was more private. Thankfully we have no left side rooms only right where the people were always out. So much for doin work out there.....Opps did I say that.....We only checked out the balcony late last night, beautiful view even at night. It did smell like sitting ocean water. Eww. Not at all the hotel's fault.

The 6th floor is closed for renovations. Maybe when they are done they could start fixing small issues in the rooms.

Good for a night stay or even more days just not that great for a romantic getaway.

My boyfriend and I decided to do a weekend getaway. It started off great but the response to our dilemma was appalling to say the least.

While a great view of the bay, and typical fried/bar type food at hogans beach we were calling our weekend a great one until... I woke up with tons of bites on my body. Our last night there something was biting me all night. I thought it was a mosquito that managed it's way in when we would step out on the balcony. But looking at the red bite marks all up and down my arms and legs (which I felt later) I can almost expertly say this place has a bed bug problem!!

I have dealt and seen this before living in a developing country, it's fine I can deal with it, not going to kill me although extremely gross.... until the actions of the hotel staff. My boyfriend did find the bug in the bed and killed it, and we kept it on a towel for viewing purposes. I had to leave for work but we stopped by the front desk. As soon as I showed them my arm and we said we have a picture and we're pretty sure it's bed bugs, the man was nice about it and said there was actually another gentleman complaining of the same thing! Oh dear that was not reassuring. Being I had to leave and was unable to be there for the "inspection", they definitely would have remembered me there!

All they offered was a breakfast voucher to my boyfriend as if we were the ones who brought the bugs in and as if that solves their problem....We paid over $300 and I was awarded some itchy annoying bites and in return got a meal???!!!

They have a serious problem and the view does not make up for it. BEWARE!!

We stayed here using our Best Western points.... so not bad for a free stay.  View from balcony was breathtaking. ... best part of stay.  Bed was not very comfortable and pillows... or lack there of... was terrible.  Four half size... like a throw pillow on your couch... on a king size bed.  Walls are thin and could hear kids running around hallway.   Plus side did have a restaurant/bar attached so that was handy.  Front desk was helpful for the most part depending on who was working. Shuttle was convenient.

For $65 per night this is as good as it gets, definitely a 5 star place for the ridiculously affordable price!  My husband and I are really bougie...the types that honestly don't really stay at too many hotels or resorts without at least 5 stars to their name.  But while visiting Tampa, FL last December we knew that we were not going to be spending that much time at the resort - in fact, we were only going to be there at night, to sleep, because the point of our visit was to see my best friend, meet her fiance and her son (my Godson).  So we decided to spare our wallet this time and stay at this place.  My friend actually found the deal for me on Bookit.com .  WOW!  I was floored at how good the service, the property, the views, the restaurant, the room, everything was for the little money we paid.  The place is clean, the room is nice, the view of the water is very nice, there is a private Beach (Hogan's Beach), a pool, a VERY NICE restaurant (honestly, it may not look that nice but the food was tasty and the drinks were pretty good), free parking, free (fast) wifi, and a free shuttle to the airport.  We really could not have asked for more for the little money we paid. I would stay there again if I went back to Tampa.  Excellent deal!

This hotel is absolutely beautiful! It had to have been just updated, it looks way different from the last time I was here. The view is amazing, the staff is kind and very helpful, the room was clean when we checked in and cleaned it everyday as well. The beds were very comfortable. Every room has its own balcony. They have room service starting at 7am-10pm. The food was delicous! The pool was nice and clean too. You can't beat this location in Tampa with the view of the sunset!

Hotel seemed fine at first (a little outdated), with a nice view of the bay. As I was lounging in the bed, I noticed a few black things on the back of the pillow. After closer inspection I believed them to be bed bugs (see the photo yourself if you wish). Thankfully we were able to get a room in a new hotel immediately  (Thanks Expedia!!!) and didn't get bit. I am repulsed and disgusted thinking about this though. I would never stay here again and may not even book a Best Western again after this.

Not gonna lie I was very hesitant about staying at this hotel, but I am glad I did after seeing all the pictures and reviews I was nervous. I had a great 3 night stay, nice people clean room, no bed bugs that we know of, oh and we made sure to check. Great city view, but next time I'll make sure to book a bay view room it's SO beautiful, the heated pool during the coldest weekend in Florida was amazing!!! Hogans great place to sit at the bar and watch the games! It was a +++ meeting Jimmy Hart! The reason I give 4 stars and the only complaint I had was paper thin walls! Not fun waking up at 4am by our neighbors alarm! Other than that it was great definitely coming back! Close to everything you can imagine too!!! Hope this is helpful!

Stayed here for 4 nights. We tried to check in around 1 or just at least let them know we were in the vicinity so they don't give our room away to someone else. Staff Told us to come back at 3 because the room was not ready. Came back at 305 and told us we had to wait because it was still not ready, which was ridiculous and had to explain to them that we are not going to carry all our luggage around all day waiting for the room. Room was decently cleaned, very old school price was not awful. Service was awful, nobody knew what they were doing. People would order breakfast and leave their trays outside the doors which would not be cleaned up until the next day.

We've stayed here the past 2 years on our trips to Florida. They let us check in early which was super nice. We get a great view everytime. Pool is nice but usually crowded with Spring Breakers. Hogans is nice and we frequent it often. Also, they have free Wi-Fi which is hard to come by these days!

Bed Bug Alert!... My birthday weekend went wrong when I saw the bite marks on my girlfriends arm and shoulder. We woke up this morning (my bday) to find her with several round marks covering her arm and shoulder. At first I thought it was a mosquito bite. I was wrong when I jumped back into the bed to find a brown/reddish bug crawling in out sheets. I knew it was a bedbug bc they look like bigger sized fleas that are brownish red. I do have knowledge of this bc I've worked and currently work in the apartment industry. Anyways it's crawling on the sheets and I catch it in the towel. I had to drown it in the sink in order to kill it. So I bring the situation to the front desk clerk / manager. I stayed calm and he said he would send somebody upstairs to check on the situation.

Finally the elder man with thick glasses joins me in the elevator to see the situation. As were riding in the elevator he is giving me scenarios of "it's Florida there are all types of creatures and lizards. " I know that! We finally arrive to my hotel room and I show him the dead bedbug on the small towel. This old guy called the dead bug a GNAT!!! Yes I have pics and I'll let you decide if it's a gnat. Then the older man proceeds to let me know I can't be reimbursed bc I booked the hotel thru a 3rd party. Anyways I stay calm and we go back to the front desk to the manager. He proceeds to thank me for my patience and hands me a $10 value breakfast card to Hogans Beach! Really?!

Then I looked at the bigger picture and I doubt there is anything he can do about it. Only corporate could do something by providing the hotel with the necessary extermination treatments for the rooms. So this is my warning for all those reading reviews about Best Western Bay Hotel in Tampa. Bed bugs are a big deal; as it's a serious matter in my previous training courses in the apartment industry. Now I'm paranoid that something else could be on my clothes or girlfriends and nonetheless the bite marks she received. The way the situation was handled was bad. I just hope management notified corporate and hopefully corporate will do something about it. "Good night, don't let the bed bugs bite" I'd actually never thought that stupid nursery rhyme would pertain to me and my girlfriend. I posted the pics on the yelp page. Lol a gnat...wtf!

The worst place ever. Loud music from the bar next door. There was a huge loud concert in the parking lot. It was impossible to sleep. I do not recommend this hotel at all - and the service is horrible.

I was surprised that this was a Best Western... Definitely the best Best Western that I have stayed in. Our room was very clean and the customer service was very good. The best parts: location is gorgeous - right next to bay where you can walk out pretty far and the water is still below your knees, the outdoor pool, and Hogan ' s restaurant which is next door. Also conveniently located 5 min away from the airport. Next time we are in Tampa we will return.

We stayed here when my son and I went to Florida for his Spring Break. Amazing views! Hotel was clean, great customer service, my son loved the heated pool, I loved the restaurant right downstairs with live music, delicious food, great drinks and fun stuff to do. Definitely going to stay here again!

I found that the people were on the rude side. Hotel was fairly clean but they were renovating while we were there. Hotel was very noisy with the beach party club, and the parking was atrocious. This place is convenient to nothing except a dose of date rape. Don't think I'll stay here ever again.

If I could give it no stars I would.

Let me start by saying from the exterior the hotel looks great but the rooms are left with much to be desired. The staff who assisted during our checkin were great and super friendly - it was almost 2AM when we arrived from our flight and they were really upbeat and happy to help us. We booked our room for two days and were in town on business. Being 28 we thought being next to a beach bar was a added plus (Hogans) and it was awesome.

Now the bad part. The morning we arrived we noticed there was still garbage left from the previous tenant - under the bed skirt. We also noticed the air was stale and the AC may not have been working. We called the front desk and they were very apologetic and offered to switch our rooms to the first floor. We thought about it at first but decided not to go downstairs because all the foot traffic between the lobby restaurants and pool. On the second day we noticed cracked tile in the bathroom where the handy cap rail is loose and yellowish stains on the comforter making it appear it was also possibly not changed prior to us checking into our room YUCK! Also, my spouse and I were going to the beach and stopped by a maid in the hall cleaning a room and I asked "excuse me ma'am is there any chance I could have 2 towels.." Her response to me was I don't speak English - know we all know good and darn well that this individual spoke clear enough English to get this job but refused to speak it to guests. I asked again for towels and she suddenly spoke enough English to understand my simple but initial request and passed me two clean towels - ain't nobody got time for this foolishness.

It's a darn shame because the sunset was beautiful and the common areas are wonderful and I would love to stay in this hotel more because I do travel a lot to and from Tampa BUT I WILL NOT stay here again because God knows what this stain was or what condition my next room will be.

Management is more than welcome to contact me I stayed in room 306 from 4/21-4/23.

The hotel can be nice, but during our last night, the hotel hosted a motorcycle rally and concert.  Although the Sturgis-like event was to end at 9pm, the music registering 90 decibels from our room continued until 11pm.
In speaking with night supervision, I found this hotel lacks ethics.
No kidding, at 1045pm, when I asked when the noise was going to end, the night supervisor said what noise?  When I stated the band was producing 90 decibels at my window, the night manager said, "What's a decibel?'  The hotel refused to acknowledge negligence, even as the car racing and peel outs continued until 12:30am.
The following morning, the day manager's first response was, "What concert?"  The hotel general manager will not return my request for a phone call, even those levied via the Best Western National office.
We paid for a family hotel on a quiet beach.  Had I booked a room at Sturgis, my expectations would have been different.  The fact the hotel refuses to acknowledge negligence still baffles me.
There were other options for staying in Tampa.  I urge all readers to reconsider booking this nightmare.

For those who want the sparknotes version - here:
    -Rude receptionist
-Could not get into room in a timely matter
-Pictures on their site VERY deceiving (the pool is small and rundown, the beach isn't clean due to the jet skis they rent, and the harbour is falling apart)
-Rooms aren't as nice as the pictures show

Booked a deal for this hotel through Southwest Airlines. I was a little skeptical because Best Westerns don't have the best rep, however the rooms looks nice and it looked to be right on the beach. When my mom and I arrived (it was her Mother's Day present) boy were we disappointed.

First of all, we arrived early hoping to check in and the receptionist (Amirah) said it'll be 30 mins before a room was ready. Not a big deal to us, we went to their Hulk Hogan restaurant to grab a bite to eat. At the restaurant, our waitress was super friendly and great, however the food runner didn't bring half of what we needed and then we couldn't find our waitress on top of that. Very slow service for being as empty as the place was.

After lunch, we went back to the front desk and the same receptionist told us a room wouldn't be ready for another 30 mins to an hour. At this point we were getting frustrated. She told us only 30 mins before. If we had known it would've been up to two hours waiting prior, we would've just gone to the beach for the afternoon! We expressed our concern and the woman was VERY RUDE. Her boss was even right there and said nothing. We even offered to downgrade to a different, cheaper room and still got nothing.

In the end, I called Southwest (who I booked through) and they were able to cancel our reservation and give me a full refund. We ended up getting a CHEAPER AND NICER room at the Holiday Inn Westshore. Never making this mistake again!

Update: the manager of the hotel responded to my review on Trip Advisor. Didn't apologize for the rude service and tried to excuse the behavior. Then ended with "hope you'll try us again." Just goes to show the lack of customer service this establishment gives!

I must admit I was nervous before arriving here due to some of the reviews.  I booked my trip to Tampa and THEN started searching for a place to stay.  I found that you really cannot get much for the prices down here and settled for booking this unknown via price line at roughly 100.00 a night!  It truly is more of a 65 dollar a night hotel and although priceline rated it as a 3 1/2 star I would give it a solid three.   They only have two elevators right across from each other for six floors and this is a tourist area.  One elevator was broken my entire stay!  The microwaves they advertise are not in your room--there is only one per floor.  The city view is a view of the parking lot!  The cleaning of the rooms could have been a step better.  I actually requested that they scrub my tub/shower as it felt grimy and you could see soap ring from tanning grease when they apparently had been in to clean --also they did not wipe down my desk, dresser, nightstand---i cleaned it off so they would dust and shine it but came back to the same food crumbs that i left behind!  It was fairly quiet except for one evening and the bed was comfortable enough. The pool closes at 10 pm which i think is too damn early and they do enforce it.   I did not see any bed bugs as I had read about in another review.  That was my main concern---bed bugs and cleanliness and safety.  I have stayed at a lot nicer places for this amount of money so I struggled with giving them a two star but because in the end---i did not get any bug bites and made it to Yelp another day--I went ahead and gave em' three.
