Close to Busch Gardens! Amazing Kiddie Pool Free WiFi! Got the room on Priceline Express Deals so AMAZING rate! Saw a Palmetto Bug but it's Florida and yeah they are nearly impossible to kill.

I have stayed many times and have appreciated the good rate I usually get.  Staff is usually great.  Bathrooms not always clean enough and have found hairs in the shower.  Good housekeeping service.  Excellent breakfast.  Excellent pools. Great for kids.  Rooms seem old but have they have tried to update them.  A/C smelled like mold- I got sick.  I will stay again.

Room was terrible and overpriced. Room was small and old. Bed wasn't comfortable. Shower was cold. Internet didn't work. Breakfast was awful. TV was old and picture sucked. Clock didn't work.

You can tell they're trying, the staff is excellent.  Overall, the place looks good, the courtyard pool area is really nice.  There's a Friday's right in the hotel, and that was very convenient for a late night drink and snack.  BUT, the room was pretty bad.  The bed is old and cheap and very uncomfortable.  That's a big thing for me, the bed.  The lamp didn't work because there wasn't a place to plug it in.  I later realized a previous tenant must  taken the extension cord and used it perhaps to charge a phone.  The cord was on the other side of the bed.  The linens, again, were cheap.  All you got was a sheet to pull over yourself, and a thin blanket which was suspiciously not very appetizing.  Charge a bit more, I'd have been glad to.  Hopefully they will remedy this and rate a 5-star next time.

Pool area is nice, but place could use some updating and a serious cleaning.  Rooms on road are very noisy.  Dated, dark and dingy.  Breakfast area filthy.  Dirty dishes and spills everywhere.  Very unappetizing.

So I very much enjoyed the staff at this place. They were very polite and quite helpful. The pictures make this place look great...and that really is the best part about it. The pool is alright (no hot tub) and the room was clean. Other yelpers have said bugs, but I saw none. My one complaint is the "exercise room" wasn't so much of anything. It had a cheap treadmill, an bike and a dirty yoga mat. The yoga mat was pretty gross. I'd think about staying here again just because of the price, but I'd have a better idea what I was going in to.

Oh and I almost forgot. The Breakfast that is included...probably the absolute worst free breakfast I have ever had. I don't normally knock eggs...but these were so grainy that they couldn't be anything other than powdered. It was quite gross...but the coffee was okay.

Where does one begin..... if I could give a half star I would and only because the women in the front was very nice. the room was dirty and when we opened the fridge two cockroach came out of it. the furniture was falling apart and the cushions were covered with stains. the stairs were rotting and looked like it was about break any second. we had to go to cvs and buy Lysol because we were scared of the amount of germs in that room. We probally gave it a better clean then it has gotten in the past 2 years.  The day we checked out we had the maid banging on our door multiple times telling us to get out. Overall never going back here and I suggest you don't either.

I chose the Clarion because it was a good rate for a convenient location. It's close to Busch Gardens, Yuengling brewery, and the University of South Florida- among other things like shopping and restaurants. It's also conveniently located between the two major highways for ease of access around the city and it isn't on the sketchy Busch Blvd. side where most of the Busch Gardens hotels are located.

The service was fantastic. Jennifer was particularly friendly and helpful at the front desk. The room was clean, but old so there is some indication of wear and tear (paint chipped on the door, visible caulking where repairs were made, etc.). For the price, I'd be a brat to complain about that, especially since the room was clean and the cleaning staff was always around to tidy up or change the sheets and towels.

The pool area is nice and would be great for families with the kid's play pool. It was a little crowded, but it's probably because so many families are on vacation in the summer. I was in a poolside room and it was a little loud when lots of people were in the room or would walk by. I'd probably request a room away from the pool next time.

The bathroom isn't very big, but again, for what was paid, it was was fine and I didn't have any issues. The sink is outside of the bathroom which is convenient for families getting ready to head to the theme parks.

There's free wi-fi available and breakfast in the morning until 10. I think I paid around $60 a night.

Here's the thing, this is NOT a "4 star hotel", however, when compared with hotels in the area that are at the same price point, it's at the top of the list. Hotels on Busch Blvd are super sketchy. The Clarion, being a little closer to the University, seems to be the nicest in that class of hotels.

Place is decent but the service was horrible. NO customer service. Everything with our guy started with "I mean UH I couldn't tell ya". He barely acknowledged we were there when we walked in. We asked HIM how he was doing. Willingness to help and make suggestions was non existent. Wow. Maybe people talk different and what is acceptable is different in Tampa?

I wasn't even checked into the room for 5 minutes when a maid and her "friends" burst into the room without knocking first using her pass key. She didn't think anyone was staying there. Room was nasty and stunk. Phone didn't work. I grabbed my stuff went to front office and demanded a refund. Told them I was in fear for my safety if a maid can just burst in at any time with out knocking. Pool was dirty. Carpets in lobby were torn and stained. Never will I stay at this chain.

Plenty was wrong with the Clarion Hotel. If it wasn't for the fact that I came on a family vacation and needed crazy cheap rooms that were close to Busch Gardens, I wouldn't have picked this hotel (especially after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures.) There were at least four different family reunions that also booked the hotel and had the same idea and I don't blame them. Hotels can get expensive when traveling in packs, and Hispanic families are not small! I figured it couldn't be worse than staying at a Day's Inn (which I've had some good and some bad experiences with in similar situations) but I was wrong.

Dirty rooms, gross breakfast, 4pm check-in time, and the staff that wasn't exactly welcoming. Not rude, just kind of like they couldn't be bothered. They offer a shuttle service to Busch Gardens and the last shuttle coming back is at 5pm but the park is open until 8pm. There is only one bedside outlet, which was taken up by an extension cord so I had to charge my phone and tablet in the bathroom. I tried not to let it bother me too much since we were only staying there for one night and didn't plan on spending more than 8 hours there sleeping.

I will give credit where it is due. The bed was clean. Fresh sheets, no stains of any sort, and no bed bugs. I'm paranoid so I check thoroughly any time I stay at a hotel. The bathroom area sink, shower, toilet, and towels were also clean and had no problems there. We also forgot a few toiletries and were able to get them from the front desk. Turns out that the night staff is actually much friendlier than the day staff.

The only time I can see myself staying here again is never. Unless it's family vacation time, I guess. Then again, I'm sure there are much nicer hotels in the area that you can book at discounted rates on travel sites. This place falls short but is not a nightmare.

2.5 stars.

I am only giving one star because there is no option for zero stars. From the moment we arrived it was a horrible experience. We arrived early to take the shuttle to and from Busch Gardens and leave our vehicles there. When got back from the park and went to check in (with our reservation for two rooms with 2 double beds) they had one room but gave us a king for second, while checking in people were coming back saying someone was already in their room. We finally figured out how to make these rooms work for our family, after calling front desk to ask about a double bed room that appered to be vacant. We were hung up on by front desk staff. Our kids tried to take a bath but the plug did not work. The toilet rocked while sitting on it and DO NOT look at the floor or shower closely or you might be sick. The cot they brought for our king bed room was the worse mattress ever! Overall, just plain bad disgusting and rude hotel. I would not ever reccomend this place!

I was very disappointed with the service, room and oval experience we had at this hotel.  I am a believer in first impressions and the young lady who checked us in did not smile, did not ask me how I was or where I was from, she didn't even look at me.  There was trash all over the the pool area and walk ways (despite all of the cameras which could probably see all of the trash) and the rooms were not cleaned with in an inch of their lives.  The hot water was non-existent and when I asked about it at the front desk, I was told to TAKE A SWIM!  There was a car load of non-guests that park in the rear of the building and ran in to use the pool.  The food was cold and there is so much paranoia about who eats that you are issued food vouchers!  Don't even think about taking food out to your room or food in if you have dietary restrictions.  Not worth the money, stay elsewhere!

Beyond awful. Cockroaches in the room, filthy hallways and stairs, non-smoking room smelled of smoke. Worn out dirty furniture by the pool. Shady looking activities in the parking lot.  STAY ELSEWHERE, for the love of God.  I will say this: the bed was comfortable, once I stopped thinking about my roommates the cockroaches. When I complained about the bugs to the front desk, the response was: "that's the Florida weather."  But of course! My bad.
Incredibly, the nearly Moffitt Cancer Center (on the USF campus) recommends this hotel to its patients and their families. That's inexcusable, when there are so many options in the area.

Yelp needs to add negative stars to rate the restaurant - do not go there - run, run far away. 90 minutes after we ordered food was still not out!  Each persons salad came out 10-15 apart.  Pizza were so greasy we had to get bar napkins to soak up grease and the crust was so greasy it fell apart.  Water was dripping from the ceiling next to our table and service was horrible. I know yelp is going to require at least one star but don't believe it!

This hotel is a 5 minute drive from Busch Gardens and for the price it's perfect. I was very weary after reading all the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and the ac was cold. There were no weird smells and we had plenty of clean towels. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker with tea and coffee provided. Free WiFi and breakfast are part of your hotel stay.
We had double beds with comfy pillows and plushy comforters. There was a good sized tv with cable. There was a desk with a chair along with other basic furniture. The bathroom was spotless and the sink/vanity was outside of the bathroom. The ice machine, vending machines, and laundry room were on the first floor. There was also plenty of parking even when we came back around 3am.
The only negatives are that the property itself is old and needs to be updated. The hotels hallways and stairs were dirty but nothing crazy. We were only there for one night so we were more concerned on the  quality of the actual room versus what the hotel looked like.
This hotel was great for what we need it for which was sleep, shower, and change. My friend forgot her tooth brush and the front desk gave her a complimentary one. We also asked for a late check out and it wasn't a problem. I would definitely stay here again when going to Busch Gardens.

I only wish I could give 0 stars. Staff was horrible and unprofessional. I asked the assistant gm for someone above hers number she refused. Nasty hotel. When I was checking in a woman was reporting a maid for stealing her kids headphones. They scoffed at her. Never again.

OMG I'm so glad my fellow Renaissance Festival friends recommended this! It is down the street from the Bay Area Renaissance, it's in the midst of a LOT of restaurants and useful places, it's right off of I-75 and easy to find, the parking was incredible and the room...
the bed was so very soft and the comforter on the bed was heaven! It was quiet the entire time and the front desk was so helpful! They even took my name and information when I got back home and forgot some things in the room! I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area!

The hotel staff was very nice,  but the room was not!  The hotel room carpet felt damp, the room smelled stale and the corners of the bathroom floor were dirty.  There was also hair in the shower, so I doubt any part of that room was properly cleaned.
I also didn't like the fact that when we ate breakfast we could only go through the buffet line once and we couldn't even make our own plates!  We had to hand our plates to the kitchen staff member and tell him what we want.  It's unsanitary for the plates to be touched by guests, then touched by kitchen staff and then have the kitchen staff touch someone else's plate.  I just didn't feel comfortable at this hotel at all.  We were vacationing for a week, but after one night in this hotel we immediately switched hotels!

This hotel was hands down thee worst place i ever stayed at in my life!!!! I originally booked at the Clarion Inn in Brandon county but they was overbooked and i was forced to stay at this disgusting location. After getting off the road from driving 5 hours i quickly realized this was going to be the trip from hell! The staff are lazy and unfriendly, they were not helpful at all. the hallways and stairways looks like a scene out of a horror movie. Beer and "Colt 45" cans were lying everywhere. The room smelled extremely old and reeked of mildew. I instantly bursted into tears! (True story) I was afraid to touch anything or even sit on the bed. The TV had 13 channels, which were al basic stations. My husband laid down and quickly realized his mattress reeked of urine. I never been so disgusted in my life!
The bathroom was extremely disgusting. Urine stains on the wall near the toilet, and on the toilet seat. The ceiling was peeling and the hot water barely worked.

Breakfast was horrible by the way.
There was no phone reception in the room!

Great hotel in a great location and on a budget! I booked on price line and read several disappointing reviews before we arrived and was worried. I must say I have been pleasantly surprised! The staff is very nice, lobby and grounds are in great shape. They have a new restaurant inside that is not pricey and will deliver to your room. And the pools are awesome! My 3yr old loved the pirate ship kids pool.
Breakfast buffet left something to be desired as it was a bit reminiscent of free school breakfast and the room wasn't stellar either. It was clean and well decorated (with the exception of the ice bucket & tray which haven't been dusted in years). The bathroom had a little humidity, but that's because it has no exhaust fan. It has a vent which is a dirty mess and is a fake out for someone who doesn't know better. The biggest annoyance however was that the bathroom door wouldn't close & the toilet base was completely loose. We didn't want to change rooms though and so we didn't bother to report it. We were only there for 2 nights.
All in all it was great!
