This isn't a 5 star hotel, but for a business hotel, I thought it was very nice.  My hotel room was extremely clean, newly redone, free wifi, large LCD tv, nice pillows and a comfortable bed.

The service was good, the people attentive to your needs...what more could a girl ask for.

This hotel was great!  I only stayed there one night, but the staff (Sabrina) at the front desk was very helpful.  The rooms were very clean, and the housekeeping staff (Justine) was very accommodating.  Also, the free Wi-Fi in the rooms was the icing on the cake!

Wow!  I was very under-impressed with this Marriott experience. Here are a few things I noticed.
-when pulling up, all cars must be valet parked. Not bad for $12 per day BUT extremely slow!  You must have 20-30 minutes to wait or your car if you want it and no valet etiquette - they just get out and walk away.  You have to chase some of them to tip.  Additionally, you are waiting in the hot, humidity for the valet guy to show up.  Not fun in business attire.
-Lobby looks fairly updated but the rest of the hotel is certainly not.  Old beds, old rooms, the only up to date thing is flat screen tv's.  Sinks and tubs are old with rust spots, dents, and cracks.  I was in a suite and the couch was broken down in the middle, the pen on the desk had been chewed up by someone else and left there YUCK!...
-Service was not very friendly except the cleaning crew.  When I asked for a late checkout, before even pulling my room up, I was told "the latest I can do is 1."  When I stated I was a Platinum member, I had to ask to get 2 and was finally granted that.
-Exercise room was terrible!  Out of towels each time I was there, hand wipe container was empty, very dirty, old, broken equipment.
-Next to a busy street, sirens fairly frequently, noisy traffic in the room.
-Airconditioner was very noisy.  Turn it off, listen to the traffic, turn it on, listen to it grind away.  Glad I bring earplugs when I travel.

Overall, stay here if you have to, not if you want to.  I'm glad I didn't have to use the hotel for anything but sleeping.

Just returned from long weekend in Tampa.  Was very happy with the Marriott's location, cleanliness of rooms and pleasant and helpful staff.  Would definitely stay there again.

Nice and clean with a very good breakfast (you have to pay for it), but the pool was down for maintenance for 2 weeks in the middle of summer!!!

A good place to stay for the heart of Tampa.  Very clean and modern décor.  The 2 reasons I'm giving it a 4 is you have to pay 14 dollars to park and when went to the pool at 9 am in the morning, there were no towels for the pool.  My wife also told me the women in the Starbucks were very rude and not customer friendly.

Not bad for a long stay in downtown Tampa.

The pluses:

- clean, spacious rooms
- over sized bathrooms
- comfortable accommodations
- nice, well maintained pool area
- free wifi

There was also a nice touch of Southern hospitality from the entire staff from the front desk to the housekeepers to the valet and courtesy shuttle drivers.  The only downside was the immediate area, which is pretty dead during the evening and on the weekends.

Generally pretty dumpy and the shower wall was covered in long strands of back hair. Manager acted like it was no big deal.

"Want to relive my cousin Vinny? Stay here."

I have to start off with the positives. Great location, central to everything. The rooms were dated, but extremely clean and spacious. The staff was very polite. Now here is the rub.
I live in Tampa and was staying there because it was close to an event I had to attend. So imagine my surprise as I am woken from a dead sleep (my room 419 faced Cass street, don't let them do this to you) at about 12am with the loud blast of a locomotive horn. It was so load my room shook a bit. Then I found out that downtown Tampa has CSX tracks, that allow freight trains to cut right down the middle of downtown.

I never knew that, it scared me to death. So Thats my complaint, it was just like the My Cousin Vinny movie, I couldn't sleep because of the train. And it came by every night at different times too, so there was no getting used to it. At almost 200 bucks a night, yeah next time I'll stay home or near the airport, at least the flights stop landing at 11pm. BTW dont pay 12 bucks for valet, park on the street.

Clean and comfy, just as you'd expect from a Marriott hotel. Almost everyone here was staying for the Florida Bar and the hotel management was definitely there to accommodate. The normal shuttle hours were expanded to start shuttling us to the convention center at 6:30 in the morning.

Four stars instead of five because the bathrooms could probably use a little remodeling. The rooms were very nice and clean, but the bathrooms weren't too great.

I stayed here June 7-9, 2012 for the USA vs Scotland soccer game. Thanks to the American Outlaws discount, the hotel was only $89/night. There were some renovations going on on the first floor, but it wasn't too bad. The staff were pretty friendly, with the exception of one valet guy.

On June 8, 2012 at about 10:30PM I dropped the car off with the valet guy because the sign states in front of the hotel, "15 minute loading zone." I went to my room, grabbed a friend, and 30 minutes later we came back downstairs, requesting the car. The valet guy at first couldn't find the key, and after searching for about 10 minutes, found the key in his pocket. He then complained, "I just put that car back!" I replied, "Ok, so can we have the car?" He responded, "You shouldn't have given me the key if you wanted the car so soon." I said, "It's a 15-minute limit according to the sign, and it's been about 30 minutes." He scolded, "Well, if it's only been 30 minutes, that's fine." How am I supposed to know I can park the car longer than what the street sign allows? We didn't tip him. By the way, valet parking is $12/night.

Otherwise, the room was clean, and we basically just used it as a place to sleep. The hotel is in a good location from the airport and football stadium (about 15 minutes away from each). Would I stay here again? Yes.

Definitely a fan! I recently stayed here for a business related trip to Tampa and I was pleasantly surprised. I am a clean freak and I check the room before even bringing in my luggage for bed bugs and other dirty possibilities. I had no complaints about the cleanliness of my room. Everything was spot on.

I really liked the lobby too. They have a cafe where you can buy full meals and drinks. They also have tables with TVs. I bought breakfast at the cafe and sat at one of those tables to watch my morning news. I really liked this idea.

Keep up the good work, Courtyard!

Ok so the caveat to this review is I'm not paying for my room, because I stayed on business - I'm trying to rate it as if I had paid the $200+/night rate and what I would expect therefrom, but full disclosure, yadda yadda.

This place is lovely. Giant rooms - mine has a king sized bed, couch, desk are, nice bathroom, great lighting. It's located right in downtown, just a few blocks from the office, and appears to be convenient for those requiring downtown Tampa. The area kind of shuts down at night, so without a car I'm not sure what you'd do if you weren't chained to your laptop, as I am. The staff is all friendly and helpful, and the cleaning crew are impeccable.

I would recommend this hotel!

Prices for this location ebb with whatever events or week day you're booking for - you'll likely determine if this is a value spot based on that.  $14/day buys you either nearby in/out lot or valet (same price) parking.

The service here was present, but unobtrusive and not overly outgoing.  The amenities were fine.  The environment was up to date and expected.

Unremarkable really is the word.  If this particular location is where you want to stay, you'll be treated to middle-of-the-road Courtyard service, plain and simple.

Staff 5 star, friendly and helpful
Facility 3 star, a little worn but clean
Internet 1 star, inconsistent, ended up using my own hot spot
TV 1 star, the new system sucks, had to have a tech come up to my room to fix it last night. This morning, not working again. of course now I know the fix, unplug it and plug it back in. That's technology at its best.  I am sure this is high on management hit list. You can't have guests mucking with the back of TV's and electricity. Look at what a simple ignition switch fix got GM ;(
Over all 3 star, and I would stay here again even with the short comings.

Please upgrade the internet, it is a big deal in this day and age.

This hotel is all about location; very conviniently located on Cass St. in downtown Tampa. As for the facilities themselves, I've seen better. As for the staff, I've seen friendlier. I generally use this location for business travel so the ammenities aren't my major concern.

I've had several (small) problems with this hotel (broken iron in room, TV no working, etc) but to their credit, the staff has always quickly fixed any problem that I've had.

It's not a five-star resort or anything, but if you need a good hotel in downtown Tamap, it's worth a stay.

Nice hotel with great amenities for travelers. This hotel is doesn't have a huge, vaulted ceiling in the lobby, so it seems a bit compact, but very modern.  Lovely pool, clean hot tub, and fire pit with seating area near the pool. There is a lobby bar with a fireplace that is super cozy. There is also a cafe that seems to focus on breakfast, lunch, and snacks with TVs all around. My room was clean and well presented. I was upgraded to a room with one king bed (instead of two beds) and the front desk was super helpful. Overall I had a nice experience here. I would add that this is not a luxury hotel, but more of a business travel type of place to stay. The rooms all had free wifi which was awesome. Found the pillows a bit too firm for my liking, but I would stay here again for sure!

I stayed here one night.  Hotel staff was friendly and the hotel was fine for one night.  I thought it was clean - but I was wrong.  In the shower - on the wall --- big long black hairs! GROSS!!!!!  How was that missed when it was cleaned?  Then to make matters worse, when complaining to the manager, he simply shrugged his shoulders!  Really? That's it?  Not an acceptable response!

This hotel was good for a stay in Tampa.  They were friendly and courteous.  The room were ok, but the bathrooms were small. The staff are the real gems of the hotel . . From the Valet attendant to the front desk to the cleaning crew, they all shined.
