We stayed here for three days a couple of weeks ago. The hotel staff and hotel itself is fine. The room was clean and had everything we needed. There was also a pool and cooked to order complimentary breakfast, although I think people who don't stay at the hotel take advantage of this each morning  along with the pool as well. At check in the front desk staff was very friendly. The second day there I came down and asked to have our room cleaned along with some fresh towels. Three hours later I called down and asked again. Finally that afternoon I ran across the housekeeping manager and she was able to get it done for me. I utilized the restaurant at lunch a couple of days. Service was slow but everyone was very sweet and friendly to me. The waitress even remembered me the next day. Lunch buffet was 11 dollars and they had a nice selection of things everyday including dessert. The first day I had soup and a sandwich. The second day I had the buffet which was chicken cacciatore, soup and salad along with wide variety of desserts (red velvet cake, cheesecake, key lime pie and a couple more different pies). They also had a manager's reception each night that included snacks (chips), beer, wine and liquor. Overall good value and pleasant stay, just a little slow on service. I forgot to add wifi/internet is not included and each computer is charged. Although they do have one older computer you can use in the business center with internet capability for free of charge.

This place is in serious need of updates. It's a tired, worn out, and slightly grungy with musty-smelling rooms. I had the executive suite, and no matter how many times I told the front desk that the boardroom table was dirty and that there were crumbs on the chairs (not from me -- from when I checked in), it stayed that way for my entire stay, and I was there for six nights. My colleagues who stayed at the downtown Embassy Suites fared much better, as it's a lot newer and nicer.

Two blocks away from busch gardens, which after driving to Tampa, roller coasters, and being in the sun all day is a relief. Checked in at 9 pm and still had a room.  Room service had a good  variety of  things, its available till 10 , so you can relax after a rough day. All in all, during my short stay, I enjoyed the room very much. Friendly staff, except for the cleaning lady. (I'll let u know when I'm good and ready to leave!!)I missed breakfast, but I heard it was good. Late check out was at 130, Not good enough for me.

Embassy suites are always a solid choice. This one seems above average. The rooms are big and have an upscale feel. Parking during the day was an issue, but it is better after dinner.

Update:  the pull out couch was very uncomfortable. Perhaps the worst nights sleep ever

Room service is only open until 11pm and there is nothing nearby. The hotel is clean and they do have a free 5 - 7 happy hour. This place is just o.k.

I don't stay here as a guest anymore now that I've moved back to Tampa, so this review is far more based on the lunch buffet than the hotel experience. And it's a great stop if you're on campus or in the area.

It's different every day obviously, but I've had everything from lasagane to chicken florentine to beef medallions and have always enjoyed their offerings. Yes, it can be a bit pricey, but a USF ID is good for 10% off which helps. But the best part is you can get a quality hot meal that's not the usual Fowler Ave. fast food horror in about 15-20 minutes, which is seriously helpful if you work on campus or in the area.

It's not going to set the world on fire, but it's fast and easy with good food and the service will get you in and out in a hurry. And the best part is not too many people know about it, so you'll often have the run of the place on a weekday.

Since this is a hotel review, I am reviewing the hotel aspect of this locale, (rooms, amenities, customer service, etc.). Reviews of the breakfast and the internal restaurant will not affect the star review, even though it should.

As most Embassy Suites are, it is a beautiful interior room hotel.  Gorgeous atrium lobby and water features make this a relaxing hotel.  Rooms are spacious and clean, customer service is great, and the small pool area is a nice touch on a hot day.  Workout room also available.

This is where Hilton Hotels (the owner) should take notice.  Complimentary breakfasts are a common treat in hotels, in higher priced hotels, they are expected, and should not be of lowest bidder quality, ESPECIALLY at an Embassy Suites/Hilton.  I did not try the omelet bar, so no review on that.  The scrambled eggs I had were low in taste and quality, but it gets worse.  The home fries were dry, tasteless, and non seasoned.  Sausage....oh the sausage.  Black, soggy, not even sure they were sausage.  Bacon....forgive me, but this was the worst bacon I have ever eaten....transparent, brown, not red brown, and soggy.  Not sure it was even from a pig....it was joked at our table that it was possibly human skin....just disgusting.  

Deplorable breakfast for Hilton Hotels.  So, notwithstanding food quality, nice hotel with great staff....just go elsewhere for breakfast.  

An internal restaurant, Mangroves Grille, will be reviewed on its own page.  No good food there either.

I've stayed at a few ES and I wouldn't put this one on my favorite list. The best thing is the overall staff. Most were really friendly and helpful. The guy who took care of housekeeping in the bar and common areas was really great and helpful. The evening manager was really good and made you feel like he cared about any issues you had. Now...as for the room. A contest for housekeepers to finish first. Gee, what could go wrong there? That was the biggest downside. It's a VERY busy hotel and it seems to me they are greatly understaffed. Housekeeping became a constant battle of half cleaning, not changing the sheets when asked, forgotten trash and just plain rush jobs. While it wasn't filthy, you could tell the room just needed a really good cleaning. Doesn't look like the bathroom floor in our room had ever been washed, and the shower and sink had what looked like mold in areas. You don't expect that at an ES. We had an issue with something in the room that could have caused injury and the manager sent someone right away, who just looked at it and said there wasn't anything he could do. We didn't feel like repacking, changing and cleaning another room so I had to summon some brain power and come up with a simple solution. If we had really needed to use that piece of furniture it would have been an issue. That I did not like at all. I don't want to have to use my brain on vacation! The clerk didn't explain the Hilton Honors benefits when we checked in so we missed out on some stuff until the trip was almost over. Make sure you ask for the benefits for Honors members. In comparison to other properties, the Manager's Reception could definitely use some imagination and an upgrade on the food. I know they want you to use the restaurant but fried pickles ain't cuttin' it. **Note to management: Some people have parental brain freeze. Closing the reception area on Sundays somehow allows parents to think (I use that word liberally) it's okay to bring their kids to the bar. Having a 7 yr old crawl up onto the stool beside me made me and the other grown ups "uncomfortable" to say the least. You might want to consider opening the reception or suggesting to mom and dad the bar is not the best place for kids to play tag. Lost a lot of bar money as we adults looked elsewhere to watch football. I didn't eat at the restaurant but others who did really liked the food, except for the one night when it was pretty busy and my friend's burger was dust bowl dry. For $12 you don't want to eat saw dust. The vent in our room had an odor like chlorine. By our last day it was pretty unbearable. I certainly wasn't going to call maintenance and have to think again. At that point they would have needed to offer me the job, if I was going to have to keep fixing stuff. The business center was good and well stocked. They even have a small conference room that I'm not sure if you have to pay to use. I can't tell you how many business trips that would have been great to have for quick meetings. With few exceptions, the staff is their strong point.  I say fix the housekeeping issue and I'd raise the rating much higher, even with fried pickles.

My husband and I stayed for one night.  Upon arrival, the check in was easy and fast but the front desk associate could have been a little more professional in the way she looked and handled our reservation.  She did not offer any direction as to how to get to our room.  She was alright, but did not deliver the level of service I am accustomed to.  Within an hour, we went to the Hotels' lounge to have a drink and eat an appetizer.  The server was more than professional and pleasant.  He was prompt, courteous and efficient.  Excellent service.
The room was spacious and clean and very comfortable.  I noticed a face lift for the hotel but it still looks a little dated.
The complimentary breakfast was very nice.  A buffet with both hot and cold foods, plus a made to order egg station. Great.

Overall I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

Checked into the Embassy Suites for three nights last week and would not recommend this hotel.  First night ... went into the bathroom to get a tissue and the front portion of the vanity came lose and fell out.  I quickly grabbed it and tried to push it back into the counter.  Called maintenance who came up and asked me, What were you doing?"  They wanted to re glue the part and add "clamps" to hold it into place.  I called the front desk to request another room and after waiting for them to come up with a new room key, I went downstairs.  The front desk girl gave me a bag with two water bottles and a coupon for a free ice cream.  (number of guests checked in: two).  Next morning decided to try the hot, warm breakfast.  I asked the cook to prepare scrambled eggs.  He said they are already prepared and pointed to where the other breakfast items are.  I asked if he would cook them for me .. he wasn't to happy!
Second morning breakfast, I tried the already prepared waffles and pancakes.  Both wee so hard that I showed them to the second cook who quickly took them away.
The manager (who was standing nearby) asked the cook to prepare an order of pancakes for me.  He replied that he didn't have the "batter" however, several minutes later was able to make them. ???
Just a side note ... we were able to open both the sleeper sofa and ironing board but couldn't not close them.  I left a note for housekeeping and mentioned this to the front desk during our stay .... both remained open during our stay.

Overall this place is great! I just stayed at the Suites for 4 nights for a work trip. Let me tell you the con first: Ordering food from the restaurant/bar takes a long time. I'm talking an hour for a sandwich. It seems like they perhaps don't have enough kitchen staff to handle restaurant, bar orders and room service. That's the main reason I give this hotel a 4 instead of 5 stars.
The pros: GREAT complimentary breakfast (made to order omelets, or if that's not your thing or you don't have time to wait, there's a huge breakfast buffet with hot and cold items). You're sure to start the day off right with a breakfast like that.
The rooms are large, spacious and clean. Are they super high end? No. But nor are they dingy or dirty. The staff obviously takes pride in keeping them clean and orderly.
There's a nice 2 hour complimentary happy hour, so when you return in the afternoon and are wanting a cocktail, just head over to the bar area. I found that to be very nice.
There's a pool, gym and the hotel is right on the edge of USF campus, so you can easily walk to whatever you might like to get to there. It's also situated near a lot of restaurants and entertainment.
Specific to my stay: while we did have to wait an extremely long time for dinner, the waiter comped our meal because he felt bad we had to wait. That was nice of him and unexpected. It shows good training and customer service.
Combining all of that with a very reasonable price, I would highly recommend this place. Great experience.

Typical Embassy Suites - decent rooms with added space and a kitchenette (bonus! ). All furnishings and fixtures are standard.  The views are non - existent. The surrounding retail (including restaurants) is ho hum (fast food and chains). But the staff is nice - they offer free breakfast and happy hour - and if you have business at USF, it's super convenient.

My husband and I got this hotel for one night. Thank goodness it was only one night. For $130 you'd expect something a little nicer. The room was big, but outdated. The bathroom tile was gross. It desperately needs to be updated. The free breakfast was gross! We ordered omelettes and we each took one bite and stopped. That bad! They had bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes. All disgusting. My husband tried the waffles and french toast sticks. They were all rubbery. He got a banana and it had a black spot on it. Definitely not even worth free!! Save your money and go somewhere else. Trust me. Im not a very picky person, but this place is just not worth your money.

The hotel itself is actually pretty nice one of their best features is the hot breakfast better than the normal continental breakfast you often get from hotels. We were only in town for one day so didn't get to use the pool and other things they had to offer. Only downside is no full kitchen and no free WiFi

We chose this hotel because of the location. We drove in from Orlando and we were meeting up with a group flying in from Miami - our event was in the afternoon and we needed an early check in.  It was not a problem.  The check in process was one of the easiest and quickest I have experienced.  We had 2 keys and ended up having to get new ones 3 times. A little bit of an inconvenience since I had a twisted ankle I had to go back to the desk and get a new key...twice.

The rooms are suites. very roomy, clean and I didn't hear noises from other rooms or  outside. Plenty of towels. There was a microwave, small frig and coffee maker with the fixings for tea or coffee. Very nice if yo are staying for a few  days.  Since we were there for one night we really didn't use any of these amenities.

We went to the evening reception and compared to other Embassy Suites this one was pretty lame.  Bowls of goldfish, chips and pretzels. The only beer on tap was Shock Top.  The breakfast food was terrible.  The pancakes and waffles were hard as a rock.  The rest of the food was pretty bland. The TV was on and VERY LOUD. But there was coffee so I was happy.

Overall it was nice, the staff was helpful and friendly. I would stay there again if I was in the area.

Stayed at this Embassy Suites for a week long vacation.  Didn't get to use the pool at all due to constant rain but we did head down to Clearwater Beach a few times (ironic, huh?!).  Amazing how it hardly rained down on the coast.  Oh, did I fail to mention that the rain was due to the incoming tropical storm off the coast of Tampa?!!  LOL.....oh, what a memorable vacation!

This hotel's location is relatively distant from decent eateries.  Had to hop in the car most of the time to find food.  It's a small drive to the Carrollwood area, where we frequented occasionally for dinner.  It's pretty far from spots like Hyde Park and St. Petersburg, though.  

The breakfast food at the hotel was decent.  The omelets were really good, and I like the opportunity to pick from at least 6 toppings for my eggs.  Tips are apparently appreciated when making omelets.  

The room was a little outdated but it's age wasn't overly obvious.....until you hit the restroom.  Worn grout lines, a plain (Days Inn-ish) countertop, an old toilet.  It all reflects how old this place really is.  A bathroom remodel wouldn't hurt to update the look and feel of the rooms.

As for their wi-fi.....it's only free if you have an AT&T account.  Otherwise, you're stuck with an internet charge on your room bill.  WHY ISN'T THIS FREE?!  lol

Would I stay there again?  Possibly.  Would I recommend it to my friends?  Probably not.  There are better Hilton stays closer to/within the Tampa Bay area that were apparently much better choices than this location.  This one is definitely made for a short familly weekend stay to visit USF students or to go cray-cray at Busch Gardens.

Just stayed for three days and had a great time. The earlier reviews on the beds must have been a bad room because our beds and linens were very comfortable. Agree the rooms are a bit dated but everything was clean and worked, staff very friendly.

The omelets and free breakfast was actually pretty good as free breakfast hotels go. Plenty of food fresh to order omelets, and good coffee and pastries.  For $130 per night with breakfast (would be $10-15 pp outside in that area ) it's a good deal.

Only issue we had was on the second night the housekeeping forgot to replenish our towels and didn't notice until we got out of the shower the next morning. Got through it...  So not the Ritz, but you should expect that. Good value for money.

The furniture in the room is very dated. The toilet seat looked as if it had been burned or something. It was not smooth like a normal toilet seat. However, Marty the bartender at the evening reception made awesome drinks! Only reason why I gave the hotel 3 stars.

The 3 stars I'm giving the hotel reflect mostly on the comfort meaning the bed and pillows. Truthfully everything else was great!

The staff was friendly and informative, the breakfast offered was very good and is free available from 630-930 Monday /Friday. The hotels design is nice, everything indoors. The rooms were clean and big, the bathroom is standard size. Our room had a sink, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.

 The bed and pillows as I mentioned before were not the most comfortable. The A/C is very good and will freeze your butt off! Overall it's a great place to stay the night or two.  

Side note: they charge 5$ for parking which isn't a big deal, but it's the principle that's annoying.

  This has been the worst experience I ever received at a hotel, due to uncomfortably and stress. I was transferred to 4 different rooms in the past 2 nights. Once due to a unsafe environment in room 331 and twice due to no heat n rooms 330 and 611. Each time I informed  the front desk of my of my issue. After being transferred for the third time to room 611 around midnight security came to try to resolve the issue, unfortunately the problem wasn't solved due to lack of training. I was told that the maintenance man will arrive at 7:00 am to resolve, my problem  no one came. I informed the lady at the front desk at 9:45 a.m. of my situation ,she let me know someone will handle my issue. I left to make errands upon arriving back the room I noticed still no one came to fix my problem. I connected the front desk for the fourth time, the front desk representatives came to try to resolve the issue but once again due to lack of experience the issue wasn't resolve. Then I was transferred to of course another room, where I finally received a appropriate night. I never expected this unprofessionalism at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

1. Light bulbs in room burned out.  Called for maintenance and 3 hours later no one showed up.  I called to cancel.
2. Gym equipment all broken and/or old and barely working.
3. Went to set my coffee out and there was only decaf in the box.  Would call front desk for regular but don't want to wait another 3 hours.
4. Staff nice although the front desk girl did not greet me when I walked up.  I had to ask if that was where to check-in after standing there for a few minutes.  She was nice after but should have greeted me immediately.
