Pretty nice Hampton Inn.  Clean and firendly service.  The neighborhood is being rebuilt with an active local night life.

Really a nice place, in a good location. Its in Ybor City, which is a pretty historic little part of town. Its at the end of the "strip",  within walking
distance, 6-8 blocks worth, of all sorts of clubs, bars and restaurants,
so there is plenty to do at night, and I am sure, into the early hours of
the morning. Some of the local buildings are a little rundown, so its
kind of looking like they aren't really sure what to do with the area.

Anyway, the hotel is very nice, clean, quiet, its got a small fitness center, small pool, serves a breakfast that is one of the better that I
have seen in hotels, with juice, coffee, cereal, yogurt, muffins, danish,
fruit, and usually some kind of hot entree, bacon, eggs, ham, etc.
So, you can really pack up on breakfast before heading out. Its within
a $10 or so cab ride to the port, the St Pete Times Forum, the
Aquarium and across the street from a trolley that will take you a lot
of those places for $2 each way, $4 for a day pass. Plus the hotel
has a free shuttle to go within 5 miles of the hotel, for free, that goes
first come, first served.

And its close to the airport, about a 15-20 minute ride at most, even
during morning-drive, and the cost was about $20, not  including
a tip.

This hotel is a little bit away from the bustling Ybor area. Well, I use 'bustling' loosely as it's fairly dead during the week, very unlike the SF Bay Area. If there was a lot of hoo haa (likely on the weekend) the Inn offers some respite from that.
Everyone on staff is super friendly, funny and accommodating.
There is a small pool, a wee bit of a work out area and a nice lounge with free computer access. Rooms also offer free internet connections and HBO...not that I've spent any time watching TV while here though.
Rounding out the amenities: free breakfast and shuttle, microwave and good sized fridge in the rooms.
All in all, this is an excellent hotel for your money. Very close to the restaurants and bars yet peaceful.

We actually booked a room to stay there for Gasparilla. The hotel its self was wonderful. The bed was so comfy. There was lots of room. Fridge and microwave were nice too.
The staff..... well not so good. the evening manager was great but that is where it ended. We requested late checkout from the time that i made the reservation until 4:30 the night/morning before. When we were woke up by housekeeping, I was not happy. They had no record of the request and could not allow us late checkout since too many other people had requested it.... grrrr. Then we went down to breakfast. What a total mess! They were out of everything EVEN COFFEE. It was 9:30. Breakfast was supposed to end at 10... Most of the folks were so hung over from the night before they didn't care... I asked one of the two attendants for some coffee and she growled at me that they were understaffed.... wow...... I would stay there again... but I will bring my own coffee!!!! Trolley stop is right across the street. That is great! Good time overall.....

Got a bag stolen here.
This staff was so rude and unhelpful that I called corporate.

Which is the first time in my life that I have ever called some businesses corporate office...I will never let family or friends go here again.

THis Hampton Inn is a standard Hampton Inn.  I am only giving it 3 stars for a couple reasons.  First, you need your key card to get in the outside door, but the reader only works when it wants to!  To use the elevator you also need your key card, this is annoying after coming in from a night out!  Second, my room could have used a DEEP cleaning.  It wasn't dirty, but it wasn't super clean either!  Good location, near downtown, and if you are a partier, Ybor is the place to be on the weekend.

We decided to stay here at Hampton.  We got here and there was Long black hair and pubic hair all over our comforter when we arrived.  I told a white older man about it and be was like ok whatever we will see what we can do.  Nothing happened so we talk to brittney she did everything on her power to make our stay better.  The maides on the other hand just left the stuff for us to change.  Honestly in the first place they didn't clean the room and just threw on the same stuff to make the room clean without changing anything at all.  If it wasn't for brittney we would have had a crappy stay.  When you stay at this hotel please check your room.

I had planned this FREAKING FANTASTIC night out for the BF and I while we were visiting Tampa, and this hotel basically put the kibosh on the whole thing.  I reserved a room with a whirlpool tub- in fact, I chose this hotel BECAUSE they offered these tubs.  The hotel was rather pricey for the quality of accommodations, but I was willing to pay because of the bow-chicka-wow-wow factor the tub provided.

When I checked in, they failed to notify me that, in fact, they didn't have those rooms available.  In fact, they SHOULD have said this when I made the reservation, but they plainly don't give a crap about meeting your expectations.  I entered the room and...nothing.  Huge room, no whirlpool tub.

Yes, it was clean.

No roaches.

No cigarette butts or condoms strewn about.

But between the disappointment of the tub situation, and the flinging open of the curtains to be greeted by dirty railroad tracks and thugs hanging about looking in the windows from a skeezy empty lot, and I was thoroughly deflated.  Also, the water went out in our room and wasn't fixed for HOURS.  No toilet to flush, no bathing, no washing hands.

Unacceptable.

Ridiculous.

A call to the desk and I was 'reassured' that $10 had been taken off of my bill for the lack of tub.  Um.  Not good enough.  You ruined a romantic weekend for me and my honey by caring only about filling your lackluster rooms with bodies.

The location is only...meh.  It's really not close enough to anything good within walking distance.  I wouldn't pay more than $80/night here if I were traveling on the interstate; here I was paying MORE THAN TWICE that, and the premium is all because it's in fabulous downtown Ybor.  There was a small parking garage that was always full, so I also paid to park on the street, in designated areas.  Trust me, in THIS neighborhood?  I had serious doubts as to the safety of my automobile.

Take my advice- if you're looking for basic, spartan-type accommodations, feel free to stay here and give them all of your money.  Otherwise, go elsewhere.

The receptionist on the night shift was Rude beyond words. She would not smile under any circumstances and seemed very upset that we interrupted her personal phone call with our check-in. Once in the room we realized that the Internet access was lousy: it was incredibly slow and would drop every couple of minutes.
On the plus side, the location is very good for all things Ybor City and the staff in the day shifts was reasonably friendly and competent.

Your basic Hampton Inn.  Nothing special about this one versus any other Hampton Inns.  It lived up to the brand image, but found nothing about it that exceeded my expectations.  Free Wifi, but it was slow.  Still a good place to lay your head, just not 4 or 5 star worthy.

It served my needs on my business trip.  The best thing about it was I could just go for a walk to grab food, or a beer down in Ybor City.   I'll stay again for the right price, otherwise I'll try something else next time.

Loved this location, being right in the heart of the historic Ybor district, and it was also perfect for easily getting to and from Tampa General Hospital where I was scheduled as a patient.   The hotel is recommended by the Norman Parathyroid Center and the staff are very familiar with their patient needs.  They knew exactly what to do when I needed a taxi scheduled and waiting for me the next morning at 7 AM.  The hotel itself is very nice with a lovely courtyard pool and the rooms are very comfortable.  My only complaints and my reason for only 3 stars is the poor air conditioning system, which is noisy and does not cool the room, and the breakfast buffet.  I've stayed at Hamptons before and the breakfast buffets had a lot more variety and the items were fresher.  The eggs at Hampton Ybor are over-cooked and dry and sausage, bacon, etc. almost burned.   The staff are so friendly and very willing to help you in any way possible.  I hope they improve on the AC and food and their Yelp stars will light up!

There are several things I like about this hotel.  Great friendly staff.  You cant access the floors without a room key and I can walk to all the bars and restaurants in Ybor and stagger back... safe and sound.

As of writing this review I have stayed in this hotel for over 55 days.  At this point I should be on the friggin' payroll.  It truly has become my second home.  Work keeps me coming back, but the fantastic location and friendly staff make me happy to return.

The location is the best you'll get if you want to check out Ybor CIty.  Walking distance to everything worth hitting this hotel is ridiculously convenient.  If you're tired of Ybor and want to hit other spots, like Channelside, then simply use their complimentary shuttle or jump on a trolley and go all the way to downtown Tampa.

Breakfast is your standard Hampton style, better than a cold continental spread, but not as extensive as a buffet.  The rooms are clean and comfortable.  If you frequent this hotel I would recommend requesting one of the rooms you liked since they're not all created equally due to it being a former cigar factory.  The staff is amazingly friendly and constantly go out of their way to give you a great experience.

The only drawback is that this place can get PACKED with people.  During the parade last week it was jammed with Shriners and cruises bring in boatloads of old folks.  You can still enjoy a quiet night's sleep and a good breakfast, but the sheer amounts of humanity might be off putting.

If you want to party in Tampa while keeping all the good stuff in walking distance then the Hampton Inn in Ybor City is the place for you.

Agree with most posters.  To sum my opinion.  Good location, clean spacious rooms, lots of towels, nice bed.  Staff were super friendly.  It lives up to the brand.

Gripes.  The breakfast.  Standard hotel breakfast.  But usually the hot offerings change daily.  Not here.  Same scrambled eggs, mealy sausage and potatoes every day.  Coffee was mediocre.  The lady running the breakfast was super friendly though. Which made up for the dull atmosphere.  The tv was not on and the breakfast area felt like a wake.

The deal breaker was the Internet and parking.  The Internet was dead slow and kept dropping.  A serious PIA since I was there for work and needed the Internet.  Hampton can do better.  For little money they could have a fast stable network.  The other was the parking.  If you have a big vehicle, forget about using their lot.  And even on a weekday spots were hard to find, and before long they were full.  Every night.

I would go back, only if If Internet was fixed.

It's an average Hampton - nothing spectacular but nothing bad either.    The room was clean and quiet and staff friendly.      The breakfast was definitely below average for typical Hampton fare so we got coffees and headed down the street to La Creperia for some yummy crepes instead of powered eggs.

My main complaint is that when I inquired the night before about their free shuttle to the cruise terminal, they told me the opened the list at 7:30am.   Fair enough, what they did not tell me is that the shuttle runs every half hour and has only a dozen seats!   I made the mistake of calling at 7:45 and they were already booked until 12:30pm.    A heads up to call promptly would have been nice!    Fortunately the 12:30pm shuttle left about 12:10 (feel sorry for anyone who was thinking it would actually leave at 12:30!) so we got to the terminal in quick time.    If checkout time hadn't been 12:00pm we would have missed it too!   I think alot of people did as several people on the shuttle commented they had later reservation time.    Bad form Hampton, bad form!

I stay at this hotel a lot when I'm traveling for business. One thing you'll notice right away about the hotel is its location. It's situated right off of 7th street in Ybor City. There are several bars, restaurants and nightclubs near the hotel and the main drag of Ybor is within walking distance. Despite being so close to all the action in Ybor the rooms in the hotel are very quiet. I've never had a problem with noise from the street or noise from the other guests.

The accommodations are about what you expect from a Hampton Inn. The bedding is very nice and the rooms are clean. The hotel doesn't offer much else. They have a pretty good complimentary breakfast and a small pool. There is a private parking garage for your car. Parking is usually at a premium in the area so the private lot is nice and unlike some hotels, they don't charge you to park there. Another interesting feature of this hotel is they offer smoking rooms. Many hotels have gone non-smoking but Ybor City is famous for its hand-rolled cigars so the location offers a smoking option. The smoking rooms are separated on a separate wing of the hotel from the non-smoking guest rooms so non-smokers need not worry about any fearsome cigar smell.

I think this is a very good hotel. I've stayed there about a dozen times and I'm sure I will stay there a dozen more. For the price, location and convenience; the Hampton Inn Ybor is hard to beat.

Room was clean and nice. Staff was very polite.  Downside is that the area of ybor city is getting worse with crime. I would stay near channel-side instead and you can trolley to ybor if you want for drinks and cigars. Channelside Marriott is nice . Our rental car got broken into (along with 4 others) and torched in the parking garage at hampton. Not the hotels fault per se although I think they could hire off duty police for security.

Ebony was the best!!  She really made our experience awesome and put a smile on my face every time I saw her!! Hoping to see her again next year! Her customer service was exceptional.  She would be a great asset to any business.

They have a complimentary bus they offer to guests. Which was the main reason we booked our hotel here.  Apparently this was the first year with the bus so they were unorganized with the heavy flow of people needing rides to the skate park of Tampa.  Hoping next year they get a little more organized.  I felt they were inconvenienced by us asking for rides, and that they didn't appreciate us asking. Then they would pop new rules as they went along, but they didn't really adhere to them.  The Tampa Am is a very big event with competitors from all over the world.  I called for a pick up at 6:15 pm and after about 3-4 more phone calls we finally got picked up at 8:30 at night. The place was closed and we were just left standing outside. Waiting in the cold.

Hoping that next year they have a schedule of pick ups and drops off to avoid this problem.  Will probably stay again next year in hopes they get everything worked out.

They have free hot breakfast everyday. Which we really appreciated. With was pretty decent too. Eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes and fresh waffles. Yogurts, fruit, juices and bagels. That was worth it in my opinion.  I mean, I've had better, but I couldn't complain :)

The rooms were also pretty nice, and very comfy beds. I slept like a rock! They cane with a refridgerator, coffee maker and microwave.  I love those amenities. The ability to take leftovers and heat them later, is a real time and money saver. And if anyone can save me time and money, I am stoked!

They have computers available in the lobby with free Internet. I was able to check my email and print my boarding passes for my flight. For free. Which I also really appreiated :)

Top notch for the price.  Rooms were very clean and comfortable.  I love the hand sanitizers throughout this establishment and the comfortable complimentary breakfast area.  It's located next to many very good restaurants in Ybor City (known as Little New Orleans) and a nice scenic street with interesting shops, hookah bars, bars, etc.

Only had minor issues with the complimetary breakfast.  The complimentary danish was nasty.  It tasted like stale card board sugar.  The coffee was ok.  That is to say the bold coffee barely did the job.

The egg and cheese thing?  Get rid of the cheese.  The waffle maker was good and the juices and fruits were fine too.

There's a nice workout facility and pool too.  Will definitely come here again next trip to Tampa.

Nice hotel right by everything. Nice king suite except the headboard was against a wall that was shared with the metal staircases. Everytime someone would go up or down the steps it vibrated through the wall and our headboard. Woke us up twice. Powdered eggs suck, and are not fit for human consumption. Pool was nice and everything was clean.

Some service hiccups. Worn corridor carpeting needing a deep clean. Breakfast bar spotless and hot entrees rotated daily. Hampton has brought in a new GM so hopefully will polish the rough diamond. Shuttle service a huge benefit but not disabled accessible. Lobby coffee was rarely hot after 6pm. A large group depleted the pantry. I stayed 3 nights and they had not restocked it by the time I had left. Management receptive to both positive and negative feedback. Able to get it on Hotwire for about 40% savings.

Bottom line...I would stay here again.

The Hampton Inn, at Ybor city is a small hotel located on 7th street near the downtown area of Ybor city very close to all the business and only a few miles from Down Town Tampa.

Small hotel with only four floors and a small pool and a very small parking garage on top and underneath the hotel. The staff was friendly and they did not bother us when we hung the "do not disturb signs".

The rooms were very comfortable with plenty of space and also they were very nice with some great beds.. so good you can fall asleep in those beds right away. The room its self was perfect with a small refrigerator and a coffee pot, plenty of towels and a not so bad TV to watch some TV when ever we got bored.

My only complain about this hotel was that the parking garage(S) were small and sometimes got really packed to were there was no parking space and we had to drive around looking for one either on the top level were the hotel entrance is or at the bottom below the hotel, come to figure the parking lot across the street is for the hotel and we can park there for free but we did not know till the night before we left.

This hotel is in a great location with Ybor city so close by you can walk, there is a lot of night life on the weekends at Ybor city so if you like to go out and do not want to drive to far this is the perfect hotel to stay at. I can not comment on there breakfast because I did not try it but they do offer breakfast every morning.

The price for this hotel can be a bit high due to its proximity to so much near by, you have Bush Gardens and The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino near by plus the beach also not far away.

If you are wanting to stay near Ybor this is the hotel to stay, nothing to fancy about the rooms but they do have a soda machine and Ice machine in the second level we  were staying at only thing is the Coke machine was not working.

They have vending machines in the lobby and also sell candy and other snack.I agree with the other people that reviewed this hotel that you need your key card to get in thru the side door, elevator but I am pretty sure they do it for safety reason so that unwanted people do not get in because I did notice a lot of homeless/weird people walking around Ybor city.

Worst hotel experience i have ever had in my life and the worst staff i have ever come across.  So this is how it goes. Several events going on in tampa on this weeked and rooms are getting scarce.  We were  needing something close to the convention center. Everything within a mile is completely booked so we see a double room with 2 beds  available at this hampton inn that about 1.4 miles away, so we jump on it and make the reservation.  We call the hotel to tell them we are coming in  late and check us in and they say ok no problem. We hit a lot of rain on this 4.5 hour drive into tampa and getting even later so so again we call the hotel and let them know its taking longer then expected and will be pulling in around 2:30 am. Their response was no problem your room is waiting.  So my work partner and i finally get their about 2:45 am get the key and head up and what do you know their is only one bed in the room!!!  Seriously are you kidding me.  So we head down to ask the guy (cory) at front desk if a mistake was made. Well cory says no , no mistake. We told him that wasnt the room we reserved. Cory says yeah well thats how it is. And could not  really give a crap. We explained to cory we had called Twice on our way just to make sure the proper room was held for us and told twice yes. But once you get their its a different story. So now by this time it's 3:30 am and cory refuses to fix the situation and sees it easier to call over the cop that sits out front to ask us to leave then to figure out how to help a situation  that he himself most likely created by not watching  the rooms he was putting  people in.   Then cory says he is charging us a cancelation fee as well.  You should fix your own screw ups not kick people out on the street cause that is easier than fixing it. HAMPTON INN/CORY YOU ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR SELFS.   Hampton inn i will never book another  night at any of your hotels ever again.  Cory you definitely need some kind of people skill training classes and re trained at your job or find a new line of wor.

If you are coming to spend some time around Ybor City, you cannot beat the location of the Hampton Inn. Our family came to stay here during Tampa Pro. My kids went to the skate contest while my husband and I checked out Ybor City.

We booked a room with two doubles and had a roll away as well. The rooms seemed a bit dated and the beds weren't that comfortable, but the location of the hotel more than made up for it. We were able to park the car and not have to worry about driving at all during our stay. The Hampton Inn had a shuttle that took guests to and from the Skatepark of Tampa. This was nice because our teens wanted to come back to the hotel and chill for a bit. My husband and I were able to enjoy ourselves exploring Ybor City and didn't have to stop what we were doing to pick them up.

The location was ideal not only for its location in Ybor, but it's located on the same block as the Bricks of Ybor which was hosting a bunch of Tampa Pro events. You also have a Streetcar stop right outside of the hotel. We had hoped to take it downtown, but we were having too much fun exploring Ybor City.

We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We had enquired where to visit in the neighborhood and were happy with their recommendations. They also told us it's quicker to walk in Ybor City than taking the Streetcar; saved some cash there.

The hotel has a small outside pool that is heated. We didn't have time to jump in, though we did see some families having fun swimming. The breakfast was ok, but that's how I feel about most hotel breakfasts.

The street door to get into the hotel is locked & you must have your key to get in. We found the parking garage to be hassle free and a bonus was parking was included for Diamond members.

The Hampton Inn is a great place to stay if you are coming to visit Ybor City. It's close to downtown as well. I'd definitely come back and stay. I hope next time we can brings some friends, park the car and eat and drink our way through Ybor.

The first and foremost fact about this hotel is that the staff was absolutely wonderful. I have to travel quite often for work and I cannot think of the last time I was treated so well away from home.

Of course the hotel was clean and all you expect from a Hampton Inn. The truly impressive aspect of the hotel is location. If you love being at the center of the action and you love all the awesome places Ybor has to offer, it is a no brainer. One of the staff members mentioned that people give them bad reviews because it's "a bad area". I never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. All entrances to the hotel require a key card and if you don't want to walk around the area, they offer a free shuttle to ANYWHERE within 3 miles. We went up 2 blocks and the driver was very nice saying it was no problem (Weather was a factor). They will also pick you up.

Lastly, the manager emailed to ask how my stay was, and he replied within 24 hours addressing my only concern. I had some connectivity issues with the WiFi, but I was assured the issue would be addressed. If you read my review, let me know if they do fix it :)

The service was great. The front desk was helpful, polite and very nice.room was clean. We Asked for a crib and we got playard, i wish if they have told us before we came, but it worked fine. Free average breakfast like any other hampton inn. We tried the washing machine and was good. Parking is very small and not organized but not a major concern. Free shuttle within 2 mile radius, and stop running at 9 pm. The location is great , near everything you want in ybor city.

Febreeze overload! The entire hotel must have experienced water damage or mold problems and they try to cover it up with massive amounts of air freshener, including on the bed linens.  My throat and eyes burned the whole four days we were there. I asked that housekeeping stop using it in my room, which they did, but then we smelled mold or mildew.  Impacted my overall impression of the hotel.

Staff was extremely nice.  Everyone from the front desk to the housekeepers to the food service workers greeted us and tried to accommodate our requests. If we could rate only on the staff, they would be five stars.

Location is very good, within walking distance to the heart of Ybor City and the trolley line.  Restaurants and bars are just a few steps away, but we didn't hear a lot of noise or see a lot of trash on the streets around the hotel.

Cost was quite reasonable as compared to other hotels in the area and we were there during the NCAA Women's Final Four tournament, which is a major event.  We still paid a reasonable rate, despite the peak time.  Just wish they could do something about the mold/mildew/odor problem.  Perhaps they should change out the carpets and clean the air ducts, but something has to change before we will go back.

Hampton Inns are my go-to and, thankfully, the same is true for my company.  Their service is top notch, the rooms are always contemporary, comfortable, and clean (hey, 3 C's!).  They are pricier than some, but well worth it.  Plus, they are walking distance from great restaurants and bars.

We had an almost perfect stay at the Hampton Inn. This hotel was conveniently located to all of the attractions we visited on our trip to Tampa. When we arrived, we were greeted by front desk agent Romayra who was very cheerful and polite. She even performed a song and dance for my birthday which was definitely unique and welcoming. She attempted to upgrade my room to a larger King Suite but since it didn't have a Jacuzzi, I declined it and told her I wanted the room I had booked online which did in fact have a whirlpool tub. She told me that they would waive the $8.00 parking fee for both nights which I agreed to and was very thankful for.

The room did not disappoint, spacious, clean and a separate room for the jacuzzi. The room also had a decent sized fridge, microwave, large screen TV and a coffee maker. The king size bed was comfortable but the pillows need improvement. My request for a high floor was accomodated and we didn't hear any noises throughout the night.

My biggest complaint has to do with housekeeping. They cost this Hampton Inn a 5 Star review. We placed a Do Not Disturb sign before we went to sleep and before leaving the following morning at 11:30am, we removed the sign from the door so they could clean the room. We got back at around 6:00pm and no one had made up the room. They stated that since the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door in the morning, they skipped it and according to their policy, they don't return unless you call. I find that hard to believe considering I've stayed at many Hampton Inns and other Hilton hotels and that's never been an issue. Do they expect people to be out of the room at 9:00am so they can clean it? This is Ybor City and I doubt it if people are getting up early after a night of drinking just so housekeeping can clean the room. I just think that whoever was in charge of that floor was lazy and didn't want to bother. Mind you, the hotel was not a full capacity because there were dozens of parking spots available and we didn't see many people walking around.

In terms of location, perfection! We were 1.2 miles from the Straz Center which is a performing arts center in Downtown Tampa, 4.9 miles from Busch Gardens and about 6 miles from Hyde Park. Not to mention, the heart of Ybor which is literally a block away. They provide free breakfast from 6am - 10am and free coffee all day long. Highly recommended if you're in this area.

Fantastic location on 7th in Ybor. The hotel offers a free shuttle anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. We took it to Channelside. Stops running at 10 pm.
The parking lot is tight, but reasonable; $8 a night for guests.
We love the  Hampton Inn brand, and this location was pretty good!
