    it was unfortunate that my flight was canceled and had to stay overnight and rent a room due to a snow storm in the northeast. i was not looking to pay much for a room since i had not planned on staying another night in Tampa. thankfully i have my resources to score a deal at this place.

    its one of those typical hotels by the airport.

    check in was quick and seamless as i was expecting it to be book due to many flights canceled.

    although the rooms looked nice and pretty stylish, they definitely need to upgrade their TVs and take off those N64 counsel's... who plays N64 anymore!

    i was surprised that breakfast was up by 4am (i guess it was because many people were leaving to the airport around the same time for a rescheduled flight.) i had my coffee and i was good to go.

    i did have an overall satisfying and relaxed experience. it had prepared me for the madness of canceled flights ahead of me for the day.

    This place is like day and night, they have some great employees mixed in with some bad seeds which is not good. Now upon my arrival I was greeted by a guy that was new, and also the guy that picked me up from the airport was a great guy, he was of Hispanic and Middle Eastern decent. Since I got in so late I proceeded to go to bed turned on the heat as it was a bit chilly and the whole room within minutes started to smell as if something were burning, that really made it very hard for me to sleep so I never went to sleep until the a.m after I enjoyed the breakfast which the same van driver that picked me up from the airport was there making breakfast as well he appeared to wear a few different hats. But none the less I enjoyed the breakfast and that's when I noticed the place needed some upgrades, definitely not what I thought I would see for a Hampton by the airport. The room was adequate and the service was great so far. Later that day I took a shuttle ride to get something to eat and the young lady that was there picked up a guy sitting in a car on the side of the building, she made it seem like he was a hotel guest, but turns out it was her boyfriend which made me very uncomfortable  since he was sitting behind me and shouldn't had been in a company vehicle since he wasn't working for the hotel. Then I noticed the staff that was there that evening was very different from the night staff, they were like flirting with one another, a bit loud and obnoxious which made me return to my room rather fast. There is a few other items I wated to mention but I think I have said enough, and oh the Assistant General Manager after I told him, he wanted to offer me their best room at no cost, but what he doesn't know, but will find out, is that I would never like to return to that hotel again.

    I have never been quite so excited to see that a hotel has a pool ...  After arriving in Tampa late after a full day of traveling, getting a minor workout pushing a wheelchair and luggage across the airport, while adjusting to the hot humidity, dipping into cool water and going for a light swim was exactly what I needed.  Hampton Inn's pool was clean and nice, although not anything truly special as expected at an airport hotel.  The facilities in general were also well kept.  I was also very pleased with the range of options on the breakfast bar.

    This is an older Hampton that is not up to the standards of a typical Hilton hotel. I stayed for four nights on the 2nd floor.

    The Good: the staff was excellent, they were extremely friendly and helpful.

    The Sub-Par: the hotel is old, the mirror in the bathroom had tape holding it up, the bed was lumpy (not usually something I would notice, it was pretty bad), the internet was really slow - like dialup. Only 1 pc in the lobby worked for printing boarding passes. The iron was covered in calcium and the last night we were there a huge group of  more than 100 people arrived and jammed the halls and elevators for over an hour, then made noise all night.

    The hotel wasn't terrible, but with so many choices in the area I would definitely try somewhere else before staying here again.

    I checked into the room just to find out it was a smoking room. I called the front desk for them to tell me they have no more non smoking rooms. I said I was checking out and then all of a sudden they had 2 non smoking rooms for us!  I am a diamond member and got treated this way!  I consider this theft!  Good luck if you decide to stay here.

    A'ight. So I booked this room SUPER CHEAP on Expedia's new 'hotel not named until you agree to the price' Priceline-esque service, so I guess you could say I got what I paid for. Stayed two nights.

    Matt at the front desk: AWESOME. Super helpful and friendly.
    Saundra at the front desk: not so much.

    Shuttle Service with 3mi. radius: Awesome.

    Free hot breakfast: Meh. I'm Vegan so it consisted of toast with PB and black coffee.  All the fruit was gone.

    Pool: Needed to be cleaned. Leaves everywhere. Oh, and it didn't help that a nearby restaurant was having its cesspool drained at 11AM on a sunny day next door to the pool. P-U!
    Get your pool towels at the Front Desk, and get three because they're the size of napkins. Also, you can't get back into the hotel the way you came; you have to go around to the front and walk in the front door.

    Hotel PC/Printer: Printer didn't work.

    Room: Uncomfortable bed. I like firm mattresses, but this was ridiculous.  At least the room was clean. ish.

    General hotel appearance: SHABBY. The rug in the main hallway hasn't been shampooed since before I was born.  Also, the elevator is located down the hall and around the corner from the Front Desk. Very strange and not too convenient with multiple big/heavy bags.

    Aside from Matt being awesome, I'll be staying somewhere else next time.

    Very nice staff, and the airport shuttle runs 24 hours a day which is convenient. The shuttle will also take you to places within a couple of miles of the hotel, so you can eat, shop, or go bar hopping and not have to call a cab! Next door is a very good looking Cuban breakfast/lunch spot which closes at 3pm. Will need to try that on my next visit.

    A bit tired, but OK for a short overnight and close to the airport.

    Takes about 5 minutes to drive to TPA and there are a few restaurants close by if you need to eat.

    Would stay again, but try and get a good deal in the room rate as it's nothing special...

    I've stayed in quite a few Hampton Inns. Most are pretty good - in the 3 to 4 star range. This particular one, though certainly not shabby or seedy, doesn't quite live up to the Hampton Inn standard. The room and lobby were both a bit tired.

    We misunderstood that we could spend the night there & for no charge leave our car while we were shuttled to the airport for an out of town trip. Not so. Actually the charge is $5/night to leave your car. Not outrageous, but a bummer...

    Cable, free parking, average breakfast, can't complain.  The rooms were clean enough and for the price I suppose you can't beat it.  This definitely isn't where you'd retreat for a romantic weekend getaway, but it's solid.

    I like this hotel.  Reasonable price, nice friendly and professional staff, great breakfast, and clean.  Very straightforward and has exactly what I need to include free parking and free wifi.
    Negatives?  No launderette; laundry is expensive; and, it took me a couple of days to finally figure out the shower controls :-)

    I checked in the first day. The second night I got to my room and noticed bugs all over the bed. I mean all over, very tiny.
    I went downstairs and the girl at the desk said it was late she would have to call someone.
    After about 30 minutes a worker came, he took photos on his phone, made a call to I assume the manager.
    I told him Hampton is one of my favorite locations, so as long as I could get another room, that would be fine.
    He took me to another room. Before he left I asked me to follow me around while we looked again. No bugs in the bed, but some flying bugs around the lights and table lamps. Again-not a few.

    So we ended up at another room and I did not relocate to another hotel.
    He said, the front desk said-Don't worry the manager will make an accommodation to you.

    He never called during my stay.
    After I left , he said " we'll do something for you". We'll add additional points to your account. I said fine. He said it would be 2-3 weeks.

    On 8/24 I emailed him-no response
    Called him on September 3rd, he said "it takes time, give it 2-3 weeks".

    I am so happy that we stayed here. The staff was happy and very friendly. We were always greeted with a smile. The free breakfast was amazing. If you're looking for an affordable place to stay this is your place. We had an early early flight in the morning and the staff opened the breakfast up for us so all the kids had something to eat. Wow that was the little extra that you wouldn't get at big hotel.

    Hampton Inn Tampa Airport/Westshore was a great price but saw 2 cockroaches and a dead lizard in the hotel.  One of the cockroaches was in my room, unacceptable.  I wish I could get a discount or something for it because who knows how many there actually were.

    The staff is friendly and the shuttle service is a great perk!  However, finding parking in their lot is a challenge if you get in after dinner.  And while the rooms are clean and remodeled, I do not like a room with a double bed.   I haven't slept in anything that small since college.  And, rooms without mini fridges are a big let down for me.  As a business traveler,  I'd rather pay more to get some of those basics covered.

    This Hampton is showing its age so I don't recommend for a long stay. If you want to stay close to the airport and are spending the bare minimum time in your room then the price is right.

    Pros: close to the airport and lots of dining options. A few Diamond member parking spots, efficient staff.

    Cons: older building and rooms, in need of a refresh.

    Shuttle service, free coffee, clean hotel. This was a nice little find from Priceline.  The staff are not only friendly, they are little chatter birds!

    We were welcomed with free bottled water and a basket of snacks. Even the shuttle drivers were friendly and willing to cart you around anywhere you wanna go. If you get on their good side, they'll be happy to take you outside the 3 mile company policy.

    Glad we stayed.

    Nice room.  My best advice - don't be late for shuttle, because he will leave without you (we left 5 minutes early and then driver got call about last rider).  Can grab breakfast food early prior to posted times.  Chatty front desk, which when you are tired isn't necessarily a good thing..  

    Cons:  Door to bath didn't latch shut.  Climate control - digital themostat on the wall, but old style under window control plus dehumidifier.  Eventually figured that digital thermostat didn't control the temperature.

    Pros:  Lots of plugs.  Fridge and microwave.
