We stayed here for 4 days while we were in town for a wedding. The lobby is clean and nice, and the desk workers were friendly. The breakfast was wonderful, a nice assortment of fruits, cereals, oatmeal, and pastries... but best of all there were hot breakfast items: waffles, eggs, bacon, home potatoes, omelets, and sausage. The breakfast attendant was REALLY friendly!
My complaint lies with our room. We were in room 101. As soon as we walked into the room we smelled the funky musty smell that didn't leave the room the whole trip. The carpet and wallpaper look old/outdated. This was a handicapped room, though we do not have any special needs. The handicapped shower was awful. It's wheelchair accessible, which means there is no tub. Water got EVERYWHERE when we showered. The whole bathroom floor was soaked after showering, including the area around the toilet, which grossed me out a bit. I did ask the front desk about getting a different room several times, but it was spring break so they said they were completely booked. This room is NOT UP TO PAR for a Hampton Inn. I have stayed at other Hampton Inns in the past, and this is by FAR the worst.
The fitness center was clean, but the water cooler was empty and out of cups. They have 2 treadmills, an elliptical, and a bike. They do not have any weights, but you can go to a gym down the street for free if you want more workout equipment.
Oh, we could hear all the planes taking off and landing at the Tampa Airport. We could hear them ALL NIGHT LONG. It woke me up several times every night.
There is this big sign on the front desk that claims "If you are not 100% satisfied, you do not pay". What a joke. I told the front desk many times that we were not satisfied with out room ... but guess what, we paid full price. If we are in the Tampa area again, we will stay FAR away from this hotel. Far.

I got room 206. Right when I entered the room smell terrible, its was like a humid old place. The A/C had this LOUD sound every 5 minutes. I went to the bathroom and found a curly black nasty hair on the toilet. I called the front desk to ask for a change of room or to bring someone to get it fixed and clean. She said she would get someone to fix this. I left for dinner and she said the A/C was going to get fixed and the bathroom cleaned by the time I got back. Guess what? after 3 hours I come back and everything was in the same place, including the hair!!! Oh the toilet was all black like no one has used it in a while and stains of fluids. Called the front desk and she said no one was available to get it fixed and that I needed to wait until tomorrow. Seriously??? dirty toilet, loud A/C and funky smell. Couldn't sleep all day long, next day they told me my room was going to get changed by the time I got back from work. Guess what come back and they said they are booked and no rooms are available. 20 people checked out in the morning and they couldn't save me one room??? get to the room and suppously the A/C was fixed but Nooo they loud noise was still there. Call again and the lady at the front desk said she can't do anything but that she can offer some EAR PLUGS !!! seriously? she starts laughing and at this point and so DONE with this hotel. Next day I complaint with another person at the front desk and ask for a change of room. He was really ashamed and offered me a comp. night. just one of course. After 4 nights I checked out and guess what? I got the full bill. I asked about the complementary night and they all said no one knows about it and they are so sorry. Wow at this point I asked my employer to use the Holiday Inn Express for all my business trip. Way better rooms and hotel. Save your money and don't stay at the Hamptons.

Not Bad, Very Convenient Location ...
I've stayed at the Hampton Inn Veterans Expway on two different trips; a week apart. I guess I never realized there are non- & Suites Hampton Inns. This is a basic Hampton Inn; bed(s), desk, TV and a bathroom. No mini frig or microwave, but it does have a single serve coffee maker. My first visit I was put in Rm 202; went up to my room and as soon as I opened the door I could smell smoke... Great... So I went back downstairs and the front desk associate was very pleasant and was able to put me in Rm 306. Go back up stairs, open the door and Aaaah; Nice and fresh. The front deck associate told me they recently went 100 % Non-Smoking, but obviously they have some work to do on floor #2. Rm 306 had two queen beds. Comfortable room, nothing fancy. Bed was comfortable; foam and down pillows. Nice 32" HDTV; cable line up pretty good. Breakfast was pretty good too; cereals, bagels, breads, English muffins; standard stuff. But they also have nice hot items; eggs, sausage, waffles. So nice way to start the day. Lobby seems newly redone and is comfortable. On my next stay I was in Rm 404; King size bed. I think basically the same size room; except the King room as a sofa and table and seems a little more roomy than the double Queen room. Both rooms had a desk and chair. The staff was helpful and courteous. In general I have no complaints. I would recommend the Hampton Inn Veterans Expway if you ever needed a night stay. I work around the corner so it is very convenient for the morning drive. I would normally rate this type/class of hotel a 3 star, but based on price, staff, cleanliness of the room and the breakfast; 4 stars.

Terrible for business.
Internet connection is slow, to the point I could write a letter mail it and get the return response letter via the USPS faster. I've actually had to connect my cell phone as a hot spot to get internet access and write this review. As a Diamond member I would expect more of a Hilton property but lately service seems to be slipping although all of my experience has been in Tampa for the last 6-8 weeks. Perhaps it is the Hilton properties (I've stayed at 6 different locations around the tampa area in the last 8 weeks) in Tampa and not Hilton in general. Not sure, but I may not stick with the Brand to find out. Marriott has treated me very well the last couple times I had to stay with them and could not get in at a Hilton property. Hey Hilton Management are you listening? This is coming from a Diamond member. How do you treat your Silver and Gold members if this is the way you treat Diamond??

They never did anything to make up for lousy treatment and manager never called! The Hampton Flag should be removed from this hotel as they are not able to understand customer service.

On thier very own website, the rate states 126 dollars. Call the front desk? 219. Won't honor the website, which I must say again, is not some 3rd party website, but thier very own. Price gauging and bad customer service sucks. So does this hotel. Too many options in the area to bother with this.
