This is seriously the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Close to the airport, yes. Close to civilization, ABSOLUTELY NOT. The hotel offers a "free shuttle within a 4 mile radius," which includes: Bahama Breeze, which is 50 feet away, Hampton Inn, the Spine Institute, and the Chase Hotel. Oh, and International Plaza...which my friend and I were called a cab for when we asked for a ride there (and spent about 30 dollars on). When we tried to cancel our reservation (booked through hotels.com ), we were told differing policies, and the front desk "associate" HUNG UP ON OUR HOTELS.COM REPRESENTATIVE. Not to mention our room has no deadbolt, smells of decomposition, and the ceilings have to be made out of playing cards. We can literally tell the difference between a male and female using the toilet in the room above us. I was initially wondering why someone who stayed here before us hadn't burned the hotel to a crisp in order to prevent others from booking the same mistake; then realized that he or she probably just couldn't find anywhere within flying distance that sells matches. Overall, unless you like being trapped on an island surrounded by harbor and freeway, and crave terrible service and the smell of rotting garbage, I'd avoid this place.

Great hotel at great rate.  Staff at desk were all very welcoming and friendly.  Girl working nights was the best....asked for extra towels and she said she'd bring them up to our room so we didn't have to wait in the lobby for them.  Check in & out was a breeze.  Pool very nice, although we didn't use since we were at the beach most of the time.  Breakfast every morning was fantastic....the best cinnamon rolls ever...and they even have a sign saying so, and it's really accurate!  Besides the cinnamon rolls they have hard boiled eggs...scrambled or omelettes, bacon or sausage, cereal, toast, biscuits, bagels, coffee, juices, milk (and skim thankfully for those who don't like whole), and a great pancake maker machine!  You just press a button and the machine does the rest....I need one of those in my house!  Room was very clean, beds nice & comfy, bathroom very nice size.  Shower was a little slow to drain, but that's about the only complaint I can think of.  A/C worked wonderfully, very cold!  24 hour fitness room that was small, 3 machines, but very nice and great to have!  Surrounding area was beautiful, right on the water so you're looking directly at Tampa Bay, right on the causeway.  Easy access into Tampa or Clearwater.  Bahama Breeze restaurant directly next door, which was very convenient.  Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area and would for sure stay there again if ever back in the area.

Extra star because you are 30 feet away from Bahama Breeze.
Always nice that you do not have to drive.

if you are staying here because it is close to the airport.................be aware that the closest gas station is 10 minute drive away (in the event that you have a rental).
Free wireless.
Decent work out room.

Stay away from this place until they complete their renovation.  The staff is perfectly nice, and most Holiday Inn Express locations are very good choices in my experience, but this place is in need of a serious makeover.  Cracked tubs and showers, furniture is beat up, caulking in the bathroom and showers looks like it was done by a 2 year old, breakfast too yucky looking to even try.  We left after one night of a 3 night vacation.  Check to see when they will be complete with their upgrades.

I am going to give this place a 4.  I scheduled a business trip during spring break!!  Not a smart idea on my part.   Most of the business hotels I stay at were either booked or rates were ridiculously high for this week.  Holiday Inn Express Rocky Point was available and had decent rates (have to keep the boss happy with expenses).

I was not expecting much at all, with all due respect to this brand, so expectations were low...hence the high grade.  I slept very well (which is hard for me when travelling).  The breakfast was better than expected and the service was really good.

My one draw back....the walls a little on the thinner side.  Could hear next door conversations very clear....so if you get stuck next to some late nighters, could be an issue.  But location, price, service.....nice job by this hotel.

I travel quite often so it is quite the accomplishment to say that I agree with Jillian and this has been the worst hotel I have stayed in about 6 years of traveling.

I can go into detail about how difficult it was to coordinate and how outdated the rooms were. But I will spare you that and please refer to Jillian's.

But there is one individual that I must give a huge thumbs up to, Lori. She was amazing to fix all my issues fairly quick unfortunately one person cannot make me forget how horrible of an experience it was.

Thought this was a decent enough place to stay for a night or two. No problems with the room, a complementary breakfast, and a quiet place to get some rest (or to get some last-minute work done). The staff was very friendly as well, which is always a plus.

Don't even bother. This is the worst HIE I have been to. If you want a fridge and microwave you must upgrade to a suite. This is a first. Our room was barely clean when we arrived. There was blond hair all over the bathroom. The tub's drain was stopped up. Paint is peeling in the bathroom. What idiot authorized painting over plastic in a heated and humid environment? Yes, the shower was painted over and was now peeling. That is not safe for small children. I have one. I should have chosen the Grand Hyatt but I wanted the Smart Breakfast. Also, guess my being a travel professional did not matter either. I definitely advise others to avoid this property.

I was a little hesitant due to the bad reviews of this hotel. I do believe that most of them were prior to the renovation.  To my big surprise the entire building is spotlessly clean and fresh. I will stay here before intercontinental in tampa. The lady who checked me in was super friendly. I have worked in hotel for many years and she still pleasantly surprise me with the customer oriented attitude.  I had to change my schedule so I needed to leave a day early and the lady manager did accommodate me to my needs. Yelpers and PC members please give this one another shot.

This hotel is dirty!
We stayed for a week,  had to request they change the sheets after 5 days. They did not vacuum until we requested on day 7, didn't wipe down anything even after complaining about how bad the housekeeping was.  The breakfast area wasnt cleaned either,  crumbs on floor at 5 pm, long after breakfast.  It smells and looks like the floors are never vacumed. Yuck!!

When we first checked in and were given a room it smelled like someone had just put out a cigarette in it. Went back to the front desk and were told we would either have to deal with it or wait a couple hours for another one. We opted to wait for another room. There is also some interesting smells throughout the hotel. The lobby smelled like a sewage backup when we first arrived and the hallways smell like mold or mildew in some places.

Our housekeeping has not been up to par. It seems like all they do is make the bed. It was clear that they just refolded some of our towels and put them back on the rack as they were still wet  from the last time we used them. They did not change the garbage or put anything back in its place.

This hotel suited our needs. We were in town for a conference.

-Room: It was decent and we had a great view of the water from our window. Cozy, and we always had to grab extra towels on our way up (because there was 4 in our room).

-Location: It was located in a group of hotels, right off a main road, but nothing to walk to around the area except maybe a ways walk to a beach front. It's super close to the airport. And there's a shuttle!

-Continental Breakfast: Not enough seats but a good selection of foods, hot and cold.

-Other: I was able to print my boarding pass for my flight from their "business center" in the lobby. There's nothing around so we had a lot of late night snacks delivered to our room.

Coffee could use a little work. :)

Otherwise, this place served our needs.
