    Clean room, very nice staff and plenty of parking.  I did see some "ladies of the night" next door at the Comfort Inn but big deal.  Only down side was it was a bit humid and smelly in the hall way.

    This is my second time staying here. The lobby is decorated in tacky asian furnature and oversized vases. Looks like they all came from a chinese take-out restaurant. The rooms are fine, just what you'd expect from Holiday Inn. The breakfast was pretty decent. Didn't swim in the pool, but looked alright. There is a running path around a pond out back which was nice. They also had free beer downstaris in the afternoon! Really my only complaints are that there was no fast food within a mile, and that the rooms faintly smelled of mildew. Florida humidity I guss?

    Very close to stadium.

    While the rooms are still nice it's easy to see that common area maintenance is falling behind. In a few years they probably will not be up to be Holiday Inn express if they keep on the current path.
    The biggest issue I noticed was the staff is not very hospitable. Every time I saw the manager interacting with guests he was arguing with them. They just don't seem to get quality people here. This hotel is also not in a very torist driven area of Tampa, close to Raymond James Stadium, and Yankees Baseball, but about a 20 min drive to DT or any good restaurants. Finally they say free WiFi and I'm sure they have it in the lobby but it was non existant in the room.

    The good:
    - Friendly front desk staff. Felicity in particular was great.
    - Nice selection of drinks and snacks for purchase. Way better than just vending machines.
    - Close to the stadium and 275.
    - Large rooms.
    - Comfy linens and pillows.
    - Free wifi.
    - Decent channel selection.
    - Free breakfast every morning.

    The bad:
    - No much in the way amenities.
    - The restaurant in the same parking lot was closed - and it didn't look particularly good anyway.
    - Not much in the immediate area other than strip clubs.
    - Bathroom amenities lacking.
    - The A/C / heat was just one of those below the window fan thingys. In FL in the summer, this just doesn't cut it. Room was always an uncomfy temp and too humid.

    Overall, not a bad place to stay. Seemed to have a lot of pre and post cruise-goers. Lots of families and large groups trips. Clean and nice enough.

    Clean rooms, Big Clean Pool, Very Friendly Staff! Free Hot Breakfast in the morning. Within walking distance to George Steinbrenner Stadium!! It's a great hotel to stay at if your planning on going to either a baseball game or football game! Close ( but not within walking distance) to many different restaurants!! Will defiantly stay here again next time we are in town for The Yankees Spring Training Games!!

    Probably will not be back or I guess we will not be back.   So here is the positive.   The lobby is airy and clean.   The front desk staff was friendly and helpful.   The breakfast was typical HIE.   However, the room was just plain bad.   I guess when you walk into a room with a tube TV, it is time for an update.   The room was very musty smelling and we could not run the ac becasue it was so loud.   We actually cancelled our next stay here because the room was so bad.   It just felt dirty.....probably becasue of the smell.   The filter in the ac needed changed out, it was dirty and the sheets were old.   The beds were lumpy.   The pillows where neither hard nor soft...they were just a blob.    Just old and in need of an update    Not a typical HIE.    Way below the expectations I have for HIE.....I am actually suprised they are a HIE.

    Room was clean and staff was friendly.  Could walk to the stadium, which is why we stayed here.  Free breakfast every morning (although the pancake machine was temperamental and didn't work most of our stay).  Kids enjoyed the pool.  Water and lemonade provided in the afternoon at the front desk.  One day there was food and beer provided in the afternoon.
    The day we were supposed to leave, I inquired about late checkout since we wanted to go to the stadium for awhile and didn't want to leave electronics in the car and have food melt.  I was told I would have to pay for another night, which I did.  Later, when our room key did not work, another staff member corrected the first staff member and said we did not have to pay for another day if we were leaving by 3pm.  I was only charged an additional $25 versus the $122 for another night.  This was obviously a mix up but we would have been charged $122 if we didn't have the key issue.
    Overall, would stay again for Spring Training.

    Stayed here for work.

    - clean rooms
    - Friendly front desk people: they found a band aid for me
    - Washer and dryer (although I didn't use it)
    - Free wifi
    - Ok breakfast in the morning (free)
    - great wake up calls
    - Pool was pretty although no time to go swimming
    - Lake was pretty although no time to explore

    - Lots of strip clubs around, although I hear this is all over Tampa
    - Iron didn't work very well
    - I got pushed out of the room by the housekeeping staff, and they didn't speak English. (so I went shopping)
    - Two closed restaurants in front of the hotel, kinda weird
    - The elevator is creepy. It jumps while the doors are open.
    - Near the Bucks Stadium (boo...Go Saints!)
    - Kinda far away from everything else.

    Bedbugs in the room! As soon as I got in the room, I inspected the room especially the bed and I found traces of blood in the corner of the mattress and live bedbugs. The manager Miosotis Perez which I reported the issue about the room, done nothing! Responded "WOW" this is serious situation. I DID NOT STAY AND CHECKED OUT! I will never stay again.

    Clean rooms, bathrooms, etc.
    Located close to the football and baseball stadiums.
    Friendly staff.
    Free breakfast - although a CON is that it was pretty bland, typical cheap hotel free breakfast.
    Pool and hot tub on a really nice, large patio with a beautiful view.

    Outdated decor.
    Our non-smoking room smelled like cigarette smoke in the bathroom and near the door to the hallway.
    Surrounding area looks a little rundown. Seems to be at least a 15 minute drive to anywhere decent.
    No hot water!! (We were told new hot water heaters were installed and too many people were trying to use them at once... Uh??)
    Coffee tastes like hot water (maybe I should have used it to shower).

    I'd only recommend staying here if you're here for a game. We won't be returning otherwise.

    I agree with most of the reviews. Building and rooms outdated. Wanted to gag every time I came in. It had a nasty, musty, wet smell. Reminded me of my adventures in third world countries. Staff is just as nasty as their rooms. I think they should be trained on greeting customers good morning or good evening at least. Lady in breakfast room was the absolute worst. Kept cutting in front of people to get her own apple juice. Touched parts of the juice/coffee pots where liquid comes through.. with her bare hands and those long gross nails. Was chit chatting loudly with other staff in Spanish. Was here on a business trip. Needless to say I asked to be put in a different hotel next week, even if it means a longer drive.

    Long ago Holiday inns were among the best hotels...They fell off and I believe they are trying to make a come back with the new Holiday inn Express addition. It was a decent quick place to stay ....it was clean and they had a decent breakfast with a quick pancake making machine...press the button and in 50 seconds you have two pancakes...eggs, sausage, bagels, breads, fruits, juices, muffins, cereals, yogurt and coffee....beats a blank...Most super expensive fancy hotels charge you for a breakfast $15..and this was included with they stay which we got a good deal for $85...my only thing is that they bed was hard but some people like that....the room was huge and it had a microwave and a fridge....thats hard to find now a days.

    Clean, comfortable - much better than other reviews from Yelp and travel sites led me to believe. I had originally booked at the Comfort Inn next door because it was about $40 cheaper. I do not regret spending more to stay here (the Comfort Inn is creepy - seriously, creepy).

    Free breakfast in the morning (small, but standard fare). Wifi signal free and strong. A/C works well in the room. Front desk was super helpful. Free shuttle to the airport and within a 3 mile radius of the hotel (will take you to Target or Whole Foods, for example), but beware - you may wait for it for 30-45 minutes. So schedule in advance and give yourself time.

    It's kind of located in a sketchy area of Tampa (is there a non-sketchy part?), but if you are going to RJ stadium, it's as convenient as you can get - 5 to 10 minute walk.

    Would not recommend this hotel.  First room we got the shower was broken, no cold water and only 3 towels for 4 people room.  Bottled water was not in the room as promised.  Vending machine was all out of water.  Second room with the pull out sofa bed had no sheets or blankets.  Literally too tired to go back to the front desk again to get things right.

    This hotel basically sucks. The front desk was not friendly at all during check in, the toiletries consisted of two lotions and two face soaps (seriously wtf), and the shower curtain was long enough to sit at the bottom of the tub.

    The best part of this room is perhaps the shower head -- nice pressure and good temperature. The rooms are dated looking and my iron didn't really work well. I wish I spent $20-30 more and stayed at the hilton garden inn or Hampton inn -- at least their corporate mandate ensures there's a bare minimum amount of quality and perceived value in their establishments.

    At first glance appears to be a very nice, well maintained hire. We had a large room on the fourth floor. Our room was always clean and the staff were pleasant. For a continental breakfast we were satisfied; however upon closer notice the vote appears to be minimally run down. Minor complaints that are not issues, except for the super picky maybe. Our bathroom door lock was broken and our curtains had tears in them. My biggest complaint though, again more just an inconvenience, was the speed of the elevators.

    After reporting this matter to the Better Business Bureau of Florida which covers the Tampa area the Hotel failed to answer the allegations or to even respond to the BBBs inquiry..

    email received from the BBB says:

    Not a very nice HIEX. Rooms were dated and bed was old. The tv was a flat screen but no hi def channels. The area where it is located is a little shady looking. Especially with the comfort inn right next door that shares a parking lot.

    The night I stayed there it was not very full. I lost Platinum status this year (soon to get back) but am currently Gold.  I asked for an upgrade to a king but front desk said their policy is to upgrade only Platinum members. No issue with that just good to now if you are IHG gold.

    I walked in and I walked out but first I asked to change rooms hoping it was just the one they put me in. The second was worse. This is one of the most run down Holiday Inns I have ran into. It is behind an abandoned restaurant and while the lobby must have been redone about 8 or 10 years ago, the rooms haven't been touched except by customers in the past two decades. The carpet is worn out. The beds look like they need to be burned and the furniture looks like it came from a dump. The upholstery is so old, it was faded four or five shades of the fabric. There was mold, water stains and the list goes on.... and yeah, the elevator only goes up, not down. You have to call the front desk to get it back up to get you. I was so disappointed and tired after it took me almost two hours to figure out no matter how hard I tried to make myself stay, I was just plain scared.

    Sooooo I don't think I'd stay here again. About 85% of the time I have a decent-to-very-good experience with IHG hotels. And, their loyalty program is why I almost always exclusively book at HI or HIE when I travel for work. The standards are good: always well lit, clean, fresh smelling, safe, etc.

    But this location in Tampa easily falls under one of the grosser locations. Eeesh - dingy, dated, musty-smelling and all-around dismal. Seriously, corporate needs to invest some money in modernizing and fixing up the place.

    The staff were all very nice, from check-in clerk to housekeeping, who would stop what they were doing to hold the elevator doors for me, for Pete's sake - how much more spoilt can I get.

    But ehhhh the place is just run down. I didn't feel unsafe for a second, but the dismal environment isn't helped by the fact that two creepy abandoned buildings (a former Lander's Steakhouse and who knows what the other building was) are your only view from the parking lot, and you have to maneuver around them to get to the hotel.

    Cleanliness is also just a bit of an issue, there were several *ahem* curly short black hairs clinging defiantly to the cotton shower curtain (EEEEK) - and no, not mine, I have very long, very straight, very artificially blond-brown hair. However I do realize this could have been hard to miss - and, at least the biological owner of said hairs was a person who showered. Also, when I first got to my room, there were restaurant pamphlets scattered on the floor.

    Still, I'm refusing to blame housekeeping, they were hard at work every morning I was there - and also, it isn't their sole responsibility to maintain a hotel where corporate itself won't invest any money fixing it up. And the shower - ahhhh don't get me started. Creaky, weird, old, with a recalcitrant temperature control handle.

    Clean and comfortable. The lobby and breakfast areas are very nice, and the pool and fitness areas also look nice and maintained (I didn't use either of them though). The furnishings in the rooms could use a little updating, but we paid about $86/night during the off season (middle of December, no games going on) and I feel that's a more than fair price for this place. It's clean and safe, and even the housekeeping staff all said hello as we passed throughout the hotel. I also saw what looked like the hotel manager at several occasions, interacting with the staff and guests.

    Now, the parking and location are kind of weird. It is VERY close to Bucs Stadium and the baseball stadium, which would be nice for all you sports fans. It IS located next to/behind a couple of closed-down restaurants, one of which is being renovated and there's some construction going on, but that didn't bother me at all. The wasn't jackhammering at odd hours of the morning or anything. Also, this hotel and the surrounding hotels are located on a man-made lake that has a nice little walking path around it. I saw a few families and people walking their dogs out there. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place.
