My wife and I reserved a ballroom at the Holiday Inn for our daughters sixteenth birthday scheduled for May 19, 2012 from 6 P.M. to 10 P.M. What should have been a memorable Sweet Sixteen ended up being a regrettable sour sixteen. The event left us completely dissatisfied and disenchanted with the franchise, after this debacle it is doubtful that they will ever be trustworthy. We were promised that there would be signs directing invitees to the to the event, there were none. We were promised drinks were to be delivered and served by 6 P.M. the drinks were eventually delivered at 7 P.M. no servers and worse no drinking cups an hour after the beginning of the event. Approximately 45 minutes after several calls were placed to the front desk the cups were eventually delivered. Fruit and vegetable trays were delivered 45 minutes later than promised and without eating utensils. Again several calls were made to the front desk to express our disdain and discontent for poor service. Things continued to worsen as the night progressed. Finally the chicken drumettes that we ordered which were supposed to be delivered at 7 P.M. showed up at about 8:00 P.M. the guests began eating only to discover the food was under prepared. The chicken appeared to be cooked on the surface but, beneath the surface was a bloody mess literally and figuratively. There were no waste receptacles for the guest to discard waste. There were a lot of broken promises and an event that had the potential of being a party of a young girl's dreams ended up being a night mare.

The staff was very rude and even though we had requested a roll-away bed, they snapped that they don't do roll-away beds, so with the one bed hotel room we got with our family of four, mom and dad slept on the bed, I slept on the couch, and my older brother slept on the floor. Walking through the courtyard was very beautiful, has a very Spanish feel. When we got into the hotel room, it felt very claustrophobic, the bathroom was extremely small and did not even have a sink or a mirror -- they were on the other side not even in the bathroom. The VERY few outlets they had were at the most inconvenient spots and the wifi sucks. Definitely not coming back here whenever we travel to Florida again. (I'm from California and we were visiting family)

The hotel is just fine for an overnight for an event at USF.... except for one thing: The rooms smelled _terrible_.   The air conditioner filter needs to changed, or there is a leak in the bathroom.  Or something.  Yuck.

Booked through Hotwire, that was a mistake. You choose the price without knowing the exact location.the Hotwire site indicated the $107 price would be similar to Crown or Marriott. I ended up at a dated holiday inn. Upon entering the carpets were ripped, and had the odor of carpet fresh powder. I left the hotel after checking in to get dinner without going to the room. Upon returning from dinner there were no available parking spaces. The  clerk advised me to park behind the building. I pulled around back and there were vagrants going through the dumpster. I'm not parking there. I told the clerk to to check me out at 10 pm without ever seeing the room. I guess I'll fight it out through my credit card.

I'm trying to find all these problems the past reviews were about.  First, the location is perfect for Busch Gardens and USF.  Second, the staff was friendly, and the rooms large and clean.  I got a suite facing the pool and its felt kinda like I was in the Caribbean.  Third, the food was excellent and their staff fast and friendly.  Now as far as the property it is a older property but maintained to standards.  I experienced no outside noise, and had no issues with panhandles.  And finally at 10,000 priority points it was a steal in value for this area. This Platinum guest was well satisfied with the stay.

A nice hotel, and a perfect location near Busch Gardens! There's a big pool (but it's always full of little kids) and the beds are  comfy. Also, there are a couple yummy restaurants nearby, and the complimentary breakfast at the hotel is decent.

This hotel has been updated and rebranded as the Grand Suites.  Rooms have been refreshed since it was a holiday inn with new paint and other updates such as countertops.  A good value for a middle tier hotel.  Our stay was quiet with no events or problems.

It's no longer a holiday inn. Now it's Grand suites. Nice hotel and good prices. I'd definitely stay again.

Very clean and luxurious for a sweet deal.  Now their sign reads "Grand Suites" as a temp banner.  1-room suite for a small- room price we lucked out.   Would definitely stay again.

Several things to attend to first: some brochures say the shuttle will take you 2 miles.. Wrong... Only one. And the use of the shuttle left us stranded two times.. Once for hours because one driver let us off in one spot and the pick up driver went somewhere else. Then he left us die a deco d trip because "there were 10 people waiting to go to the park... Also one tome they tell you to make reservations, next time to "just call when the movie is over" even though I gave them the time movie was over... More on a different posting!!!

Let me preface this review and say this hotel has been sold and rebranded as "Grand Suites Hotel."

Ok, so my girlfriend and I needed a simple place to stay close to Busch Gardens for 1 night and through hotels dot com saw this as the first choice. We had just seen "The Grand Budapest" hotel and we're laughing for fun at the name. We booked our night seeing as it had a great price and proceeded on our trip.

From the moment we arrived, we were in awe of the clean and friendly appearance to start. Then enter the lobby and the friendly woman who checked us in, gave us so much information and offered advice we hadn't even thought of!

We went to our "Suite" and again we're pleasantly surprised at the beautiful and clean room with a lovely fresh smell to boot!

We were close to all nice amenities, the complimentary continental breakfast the next morning was great, but one of the best parts of the whole stay was the FREE personal shuttle service to and from the park!

Yes, a lot of hotels offer this service, but with a personal driver in a small minivan with cool AC?! It was very nice and saved us time, money and other headaches when we wanted to leave the park at any time in the afternoon.

So all in all, this is the place to stay in Tampa, whether you are going to one of the Busch properties or even just a tour of the local beer or soda pop facilities.

Again, it is called "Grand Suites Hotel" and not any form of Holiday Inn.

This review was written 05/12/14 if clarification is needed! Enjoy!

I really enjoyed my stay here. While it is and it has been re branded as Grand Suites Hotel, it is still under construction but we did not hear any noise, just saw the mess.  The staff was very friendly, the sheets were clean and we even had our own thermostat, not one of those standard hotel air conditioners!   The complimentary breakfast was great also, they offer fruit bowls, bananas, apples, cereal, waffles, three different types of juice and MUCH more!  The court yard is an added bonus!  From the street it looks like a regular hotel..but once inside it is beautiful!! Palm trees, pools, a pond.  Very lush and green.
I would definitely stay here again!

I was supposed to stay at another one here here. They did overbooking and sent me here at a nicer one. Free! Lucky!

Entrance is designed contemporarily. There are a cute carp pond and a small garden and a tiny swimming pool. The pool has a pretty deep spot. I jumped in and got surprised how deeply i sank. The water was heated then. There are some patio areas too. The center building for meetings and parties. They serve free breakfast at the 1st floor. they didn't have my favorite holiday inn express cinnamon rolls but cereal bars and fresh fruits and fresh orange juice. Tea, coffee, milk,...

The room is pretty big. The living room has a small kitchen with a fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker, and a bigger shelf. TV and couch. Bathroom has a big space between the sink and the bathtub. Bedroom has a nice color and a cool decollation. 2 Queen size beds. the view... Do't open the curtains.

Many rooms were under construction. It was pretty noisy during daytime then.

The staffs are friendly. Some of them speak only Spanish. I had a short conversation somehow. It may be a good opportunity to brush up your Spanish!

Oh, one more thing to write. There is a shuttle service. They don't charge. You just need to prepare a tip.

Oh,oh, one more. Yuengling factory is right cross the street. I wanted to go to their free tour but I didn't have much time. All you can drink though... I checked roller coasters at Busch Garden instead. I need to be grown...
