Even though this hotel is cheap and close to the stadiums. Just spend the extra money and stay up the street at Days Inn or Best Western. This place is dirty & noisy as hell! You can literally hear everything from people walking outside to conversations people are having in the next room or room above you. If I go to spring training again next year, I don't think I'll stay at this hotel again.

I cannot believe that I forgot to mention the shampoo!  My God - I must've been in a post-trip, mid-moving-into-a-new-apartment delirium.

The shampoo (and conditioner) smells JUST like an orange creamsicle!  Holy hair, Batman!  I'm not one given to excessive exclamation points, but I'll make an exception for the "Ohhhhhhaaaaaaaaahhh*sniff*" wonderful scent of their shampoo.

Firstly, the place is not as scary as others have described. At no point did I feel unsafe. I could see how folks had noise issues however. Our room was on the ground floor and we could hear everyone walking by, even if they were not being loud. To minimize noise disturbance, we slept with the fan on.

The desk staff was nice, and the breakfast was acceptable, but the cleaning staff were MIA. When we arrived, we found a child's spilled Kool-Aid or perhaps a spring breaker's upset alcopop all over inside the top drawer of our dresser. We had to ask the front desk four times over four days before anyone came to clean it up. I finally marched over with a picture on my phone in exasperation.

The heat was surprisingly necessary and powerful, and when we arrived the AC was blasting and the room was a Frigidaire. However the power went out on 3 different occasions during our 5-day stay. Not sure how localized this problem was, but the hotel lobby and nearby businesses did not seem to be affected.

If you are offended by the proximity of strip clubs, don't stay here, but it is within walking distance of the Yankees, Bucs, and a passable local brewery. The free airport shuttle came in handy as well. The Thai place next door was a welcome break from stadium food and bagels from the breakfast bar.

If you're on a budget, the HoJo Airport is perfectly reasonable. Don't expect luxury accommodations and you'll be just fine.

Of course reviews are going to be mixed depending on person by person. My first impressions upon arriving at this hotel were not bad. We were quickly helped at the lobby as we had made reservations beforehand and then we got to go to the rooms. First off I noticed black ashes on the bed near the AC. The room itself though, wasn't bad. WiFi here is absolutely awesome. 8 MB download and 6 MB upload for those of you tech savvy people like me. For some reason the toilet likes to flush itself every 5-10 minutes or so. Doesn't really bother me that much but it could be annoying to some. The breakfast selection is small, so you'll have to wait until you go to the airport to get filled up. 3 out 5 five since the wifi is nice and it's truly not a terrible hotel.

Very nice people at the front desk. The room was nice with plenty of channels on tv. It's really close to the airport so that's nice if you're traveling. The floor was a little dirty.

The price was right but everything else was wrong. Bathroom was dirty we found hair in the shower the toilet wouldn't flush it was constantly running water all night. The air conditioning shut off half way through the night woke up sweating. The tv is super old and none of the channels came through clear. Maybe we were just unlucky and got there worst room. Either way I guess for the price you get what you pay for

If you just need a cheap place to stay, Howard Johnson is the place for you. If you're looking for more, you will have better luck elsewhere. This place is disgusting, old, and right next to a strip club! I flew into Tampa without a clue where I was staying and the shuttle driver told me this place was "where girls take guys for one night". Now I can see why. This place is a seemingly safe dump with bed bugs. Need I say more?

I liked it ok.  We stayed here before our cruise and it was good for a one-nighter.  The airport shuttle was awesome and free so that is a plus.  The internet was fast and free as well.

At first, I was a little worried about the neighborhood, but the shuttle driver said, "I know how this place looks, but it is the safest place in Tampa because the owners of the clubs run security for everything here." Yeah... I did/didn't mind being protected by the mob.

There was also a cheap-ish shuttle to the port of call, so that was nice.  Continental breakfast was nice as well.
