This is the 4th La Quinta we're staying on this trip. In general, all the Quintas have the uniform layout inside and outside. This isn't the best location to choose in Tampa. They have quite a few properties in this city. I randomly just chose this location. It's just outside the freeway and it seems to be an industrial area.

I give it 3.5 stars instead of 4. The hallway doesn't look that great. Carpet is older. But the inside of the rooms are ok. A bit stuffy when we first arrived and i had to open the window to air out the room.

If you are looking for a place with some eateries, you would need a car. We have a car, so we just drove 15 min to downtown to have dinner. If you want to avoid tolls (which can add up in FL, you get tolled sometimes 2-3x within 10 miles sometimes), you might want to book it close by to the places you plan to visit. But since we are passing by and staying at each location just 1 day or 2 days max, it's no big deal.

One inconvenience is that they don't have a business center like some other hotels. We brought our laptop but sometimes that can be cumbersome and it'd be nice to have access to a computer/printer to print out your boarding passes, directions, search for itins, etc.

So, this place gets an update on the occasion of my second visit - we decided to pop down to Tampa for the Fair and night parade, and they offered to make things better - and they did.

I spoke to the general manager when I saw that rates were up, and due to our previous - um - 'misfortune' he was kind enough to adjust my rate some. On top of having comped the previous disastrous visit, they get props for that.

Room: Smaller, but still the same comfy king size bed.
Breakfast: Heavy on the carbs (its free after all), but they do include one protein (hard boiled eggs) and they have a very cool belgian waffle maker for guests to use. Nice touch I thought.
Checkin: Snappy and uneventful. I like that.
Checkout - even easier, with a 2 pm late checkout as a bonus.
Staff: Nice, helpful, courteous.

The parking lot is a tad cramped when the place is busy, and he hall carpets could use an update, but that's really all I can complain about.

This is a smallish, midrange place with a fairly convenient location for Fair or Brandon visitors. I'd come back again.

EDIT: Since I'm a dolt, I succeeded in leaving two items in the room,. They promptly looked for them and are holding them til my next visit to Tampa - they would FedEx them to me but that's a big waste of my money. So, I'm bumping the place up a star to 4 (can't give 3.5) based on the people who work there. The 'place' is pretty much 3 stars, but the employees give it the boost up.

Not the cleanest hotel but the service definitely makes up for it. The staff was very friendly and made my girlfriend and I feel welcomed. They have free parking, free Wifi, and free breakfast, all a big plus for me. The rooms are clean and I loved the big desk, since I needed to get some work done. I would recommend this place if you are staying in the Tampa area and don't want shell out a lot of money. For the price I paid ($66/night), it delivered (in a good way).

My husband and I stayed a night here when we first moved to Florida.

I loved everything about this place, especially that dogs were accepted. The lady that checked us in was very nice. We explained that one of our dogs wasn't too friendly and if we can use a different entrance, she had no problem with that and offered the back entrance to us.

The room was big, clean, neat and fresh... I didn't want to leave because it was very comfortable there. It's also clean outside making it welcoming. I will recommend this hotel to anyone.

Spent last evening at this property, woke up at 1 AM to find the room quite cold , investigating the heating and air conditioning unit in the wall found controls missing and no way to regulate the temperature in the room    As it turned out, The property had upgraded and placed a wall-mounted thermostat behind the furniture used to house the refrigerator and micro wave, where it was obscured  from view .  I saw no reason to contact the front desk at 1 o'clock in the morning as I was unwilling to change rooms at that hour, when I approach the front desk in the morning I was dismissed rudely that the thermostat was on the wall   I spent a lot of time in hotels and on any occasion there is a wall-mounted thermostat added to the room , always there is signage added at the old control location in for mean the guest of the change.  No signage existed and I informed the front desk that that would have prevented The problem I was told by the front desk they would add signage in the future for the next guest. I was dismissed and no effort to correct my evening being uncomfortable was made. The failure on the part of the property to install signage correctly was bad enough the rude discussions I had with three different front desk staff members was enough for me to decide I would no longer be using this franchise in the future.   Sadly a sincere apology would've been enough to correct this, the inconsistencies in this franchise of properties from one to the other or  This is not a property that should be referred to as suites!

I will first say that I am a LaQuinta rewards customer so I have stayed at a few LaQuintas and never had a problem. This place is awful! The people on here that said how nice it was must have stayed at a different place than I did! The room smelled so bad, like really stale cigarettes (and this was a non smoking room)! The walls and ceilings were dirty and the carpet was old and looked filthy. The air conditioner was so loud and couldn't figure out the wall switch. So I asked to be moved, the desk clerk moved me next door. It did appear better but still had the same smell. First time I used the toilet it plugged up. The desk clerk gave me a plunger! I had to ask her to come to the room to try it, finally it flushed. There were bugs, not anything nasty but still bugs! Stayed one night, I had planned on staying a month BUT after the breakfast I found another place and got the heck out of there! I'm not sure if I will stay at another LaQuinta but if I do I will check out the room first. I will say the poor young lady at the desk was VERY nice and really seemed sorry when I checked out, she did everything she could to help but the room was just not up to LaQuinta's usual standards and for sure, not up to mine!

This hotel is small, outdated, and dirty. If you look at the carpet and the walls, it is filthy. But ultimately I jusr needed to a place to rest my head for two nights so as long as the rooms itself are clean I'm good. The room for the most part was clean. Sheets were clean, bathroom tub was clean, but the toilet not so much. But I loved the king sized bed, the large desk and the flat screen TV

Everyone from the breakfast attendant, housekeeping and the front desk were very friendly. They even let us check in early because we got into town earlier than expected.

One of the main things they advertise was an amenity is their free breakfast. I think that is an awesome idea and also like that their breakfast is til 10am since I like to sleep in on vacations. But the offerings were disappointing. They have waffles, bagels, toast, 3 types of cereal, yogurt and boiled eggs. Unfortunately, the eggs were old and overcooked. They were literally gray. The bagels were hard as a rock. The best part was the happy face of the employee working the area and the waffles.

Overall, my experience was decent- 4 star service for a 2 star rated hotel. The customer service is what really took it up a notch but they have some improvements to do.

wife and I went on vacation and we picked this hotel because they are pet friendly and we were happy with everything about this hotel and would give it five stares but the bathroom was small and they need to invest some funds into there upkeep of there bathrooms.
