For the price, it is what it is.
My room was clean, but the blankets and linens were so ratty that I slept in long sleeves and pants. I really didn't want my body to touch it :(
There's not enough room in the bathroom to swing a dead cat.
The air conditioner settings didn't work well, and I woke up each morning freezing with a sore throat.
My TV didn't work, I requested it to be fixed, it didn't get fixed.
ALL THAT SAID - the management did the right thing and comped me a night. When I come back to Tampa, there's a very good chance I'm coming back to stay at the La Quinta solely because of that, and I'm sure I'll get a better room.
So, consider this a placeholder for a second try. First time was unimpressive, but they're trying, and I'll give them some credit. It's literally two seconds from the overpriced Hard Rock casino, so it's worth staying here.

LaQuinta put together a beautiful property here. Good restaurants and bars close by. It's around the corner from the hard rock Cafe and casino. Across the street from the Florida State Fairgrounds. This is 1 of my favorite hideaways in Tampa.

Stayed here recently. Rooms were clean and quiet, complimentary Belgian waffle breakfast was nice even if cliché.
I hate Florida and that goes double for Tampa.
Despite that, this hotel was actually a cheap and pleasant place to sleep.

The things I like most about this La Quinta are its rates and that it is directly across the street from (what is now poorly named) the 1-800-ASK-Gary Amphitheater. The AC is better than some economical hotels since it has an actual thermostat. They also have hassle-free WiFi.
The beds are comfortable, and the towels are average.
My one complaint is that none of the electrical outlets near the desk or bed (at least in this room) are accessible without moving furniture or crawling under tables. These are essential to have access to for people traveling with laptops and cell phones.
