Nice & clean... A bit on the pricy end. Not the best neighborhood furthermore definitely not the worst. Id say between low-avg middle class area. (Generally)

Friendly, courteous staff, nice pool and VERY close to Busch Gardens. We love their pet policy... No charge for pets to stay. This is my third stay, and I have no complaints. It's an older hotel, but the prices are reasonable and the rooms are good. Free WI-FI too.

There were problems in the past with this place so I started to go to the more expensive one by USF. I was running low on funds so I decided to give this La Quinta a "second" chance.

I was happy I did! They used to have a policy that very small dogs (under 15 lbs) were only allowed. This was since changed to the way it used to be any well behaved dogs are allowed for a max of 2 dogs.

The managers and staff are starting to care more about the business and customers and now they are like every other la quinta and have new flat panel TVs.

Only thing that I sometimes have problems are with the free wifi connection. I usually call the front desk and it is up within a hour. I also have my Internet access from my cell phone provider so this is not much of a issue.

The few times I did have problems, I contacted the front desk and they took care of it.

We were able to get a rate under $50 and it is across the street from the back wall of Busch Gardens, so you can't beat the price and convenience.

Room was clean and comfortable.  Nice pool with a big patio area.  Staff was very friendly and helpful.

On the downside, this is not a great neighborhood.  You certainly won't want to go walking around the neighborhood at night.

When we mentioned to the car rental agent we were staying there, she grimaced. We assumed she made a mistake on the specific property. We erred. much construction  greets visitors at first glance. Understandable. Inside the lobby felt depressing and gloomy. We examined room options. Each non smoking room reeked of smoke for sure. The dank smell emanated through the rooms. None of the rooms proved acceptable, pleasant or of normal La Quinta quality. Also, no shuttle from airport as advertised. Disappointing.

I spent two nights here with my 3 month old son. The front desk was really accommodating with my needs. They put a micro fridge and microwave in my room and allowed me to check in early even though the reservation was under my friend's name and he wouldn't arrive until late that night.

The hotel itself isn't in a great area of Tampa, but the police station next door provides more peace of mind. The pool is nice and well-kept, but usually populated by the most obnoxious of guests. The rooms are outdated, but provide the essentials for a hotel stay. The door to my room would not shut or open without a lot of force, and it would stick. The water in the sink and shower is either scalding hot or freezing cold with virtually nothing in between.

Long story short, it needs a face-lift but all-in-all wasn't a terrible stay.

The neighborhood doesn't do it justice; Tampa isn't known for their grade-A community.

I was impressed by the attentive staff, clean room and proximity to the amusement park.
The room comfortably accommodated two. The bed was comfortable, clean and smelled fresh. The property was well-kept and well-lit.

However, dear La Quinta CEO: Just paint the damn building. A fresh coat of paint goes a long way.

I've stayed here two times so far and both experiences were very pleasant. The only reason it gets 4 stars is because of the location of the room I got the last time, which was directly in front of the pool gate so I had constant noise.

The rooms are very clean, the staff is nice, and you can't beat the price. You can see Sheikra from the entrance and it's very close to restaurants and gas stations.

This is definitely where I'd stay if I come back to Busch Gardens or just visiting.

My friend and I were looking for an affordable, clean place to stay while visiting Tampa and Busch Gardens. I figured La Quinta would be reliable as they are a chain with a fairly good reputation.
Also, on their website the place was listed as having both airport and theme park shuttle- neither was true, and we had to taxi to both places.
The area's a little sketchy and there isn't much around. Only a few fast food places and some cruddy restaurants are near, and I wouldn't recommend walking any further than that. We thought our room was alright but over the three nights we stayed we found four cockroach-esque bugs crawling up the walls. Gross! Standards, people. Standards.

If zero stars was an option it would be my choice. There are some LQ's nationwide that are nice, modern, and cozy - this is not one of them.   Horrible from my standards as a military / govt frequent traveler.

This is one of Tampa most TERRIBLE hotels. If there was a real list this hotel would TOP it. There were cockroaches in almost every corner of the room, mind you we had a block of 3 rooms. The employees are somewhat okay, but what makes this place absolutely despicable is the management. I saw a manager completely condescend an employee in front of customers until the poor girl was in tears. What an asshole. To top it off this was a GM!!!!! The breakfast options looked mostly leftovers of anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months old. There was mildew in the cereal not even kidding. The pool is cold and not heated. This place is a joke and everything about it. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!!!

Stayed here September last year, as we were visiting Busch Gardens.

The positives - Good location for going to visit Busch Gardens.
Police Station next door.
Nice pool area.
Staff were polite, well to me at least.

The Negatives - This La Quinta is old and really needs remodeling.
The room they put me in was at the back of the hotel and had no view, apart from a large bush.
Connecting rooms meant we could hear every single world the guests next door were saying and you could even hear them go to the bathroom!
The walls seem to be paper thin and once again, did nothing to keep outside noise out. For 2 nights in a row, some buffoon thought it would be great to play their music from 7:00pm until after midnight. All you heard was thump thump thump and this was not from a guest but some moron who lived in a house behind the hotel.
Our door would only lock with a lot of force on the lock and you really had to slam the door to close it.
The free breakfast is very basic.
The WIFI is useless. Unless you stay in the lobby, you can not get a signal.
They advertise a shuttle service to Busch Gardens but yet when you ask them, they say they have no such service!
The area is rather shady and I would not feel safe walking around here, once the sun goes down, as there is a good chance some of the locals may help you part with your money.
Apart from Busch Gardens, there is nothing else to see around here.

I chose this hotel as most of the time La Quinta hotels are in general a good hotel to stay at, clean and well maintained but this is not one of those hotels. Over priced for what you get and I will not be returning here.

The staff was nice enough to push back my reservation a couple of hours because I was going to be late, and gave me a room change (I like to be away from people) with no problem. The room was clean and didn't have any problems, and the whole place was nice. I can't really talk about what the usual guests might be like; I see the other reviews talking about that, but I was there on a couple of off days, so I saw maybe five other people.

The neighborhood wasn't that bad; Busch Gardens is right there, and so is a police station, so the hotel itself is safe enough, and all the doors lock securely. For the price, you really can't do better than this.
