We just stayed here last week before an early morning flight back home. We got a great deal on the room and I was impressed! The bed was probably the most comfortable one we have slept on in a long time. The front desk staff was helpful and everything was clean! I would definitely recommend to any friend traveling in the area.

This Ramada looks nice in the pictures but don't let that fool you. The place looks like a glorified Days Inn, run down and old. For $50 you can't expect more anyway. You can probably get something much nicer for another $20

Although I don't alter any of the complaints or warnings issued in my initial review of this 'hotel', I feel compelled to update: I was ultimately issued a partial refund for my terrible experience at the Ramada. (I still have never received a personal reply to any of my inquiries with the people who work at Ramada.)

Stayed here for a couple days with a girl friend for a quick spring break.  Impressed by the lobby and main area but all turned around when you pass the lobby area.  Room needed work and there was a metal bracket on the hallway floor that would rattle every time the housekeeping cart would go by. There was also random paint splattered througout the room and the bedding was only sheets with no extra blankets or pillows located in the room.
Pool was freezing cold and not much sun for lounging.
My friendly girlfriend said hello to a young male housekeeper who ended up calling our room.. very creepy.
Also, when we ran out of toilet paper, front desk said we had to come get it because there were no housekeepers to bring it up.. although we saw about 15 different housekeepers throughout the day.
Parking in the rear was difficult because the back hotel doors locked at a certain time so we had to walk around front.. did not feel safe.
    Floors turned our feet black.
TVs were very old and discolored.
WiFi was terrible on my tablet.

For a short stay, this place is just fine. Clean, safe, AC worked, quiet. Nice sportsbar, free airport shuttle, free wifi, close to everything. Strip clubs in walking distance if that's your thing. Not a five star but make for a decent nights sleep.

You get what you pay for, and this place is  not a five star hotel, but it's centrally located in Tampa and cheap ($55 a night). Like I said its not a five star joint but for the budget minded business traveler it's worth four stars.

    The bar downstairs doesn't hurt.

About the only good thing about this place is the price. I had two rooms with keys that didn't work, about half the channels on the TV were available, and the people at the place seemed weary and unwilling to help (maybe that was from working at such a substandard hotel). Ramada should de-list this hotel.

While my 20-something significant other and I are nowhere near elderly, we certainly came out curmudgeon-y after staying here.

I suppose when you pay $80 a night, you shouldn't be expecting too much. And you're probably right if that's what you're thinking. Normally, I'd be inclined to agree with you.

However, as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry (as a housekeeper for a pro-football team, at that)--I'm disappointed in this Ramada. The room is large enough, I suppose, but three strikes you're out, Ramada:

    1. The shower: I get it. Florida has a lot of elderly tourists. I know the jokes and all, but why make a shower so difficult to work with and difficult to adjust the temperature? The water is scalding and it's almost impossible to make it otherwise unless you only want a small jet of water.

    2. The television. I don't think there's an excuse for having old, non-working television sets anymore. TVs are generally pretty affordable nowadays. The fact that ours couldn't display red or greens without malfunctioning tells me the owners are lazy about checking the rooms and whether certain things work or not for their customers' benefit.

    3. Here's where I know they're lazy about checking rooms: the towels AND sheets both had a significant amount of dust on them. This would be unacceptable at any other hotel and it's unacceptable for customers. Had we done something like this where I worked, we wouldn't have had the football team's future business.

And so, with that, Ramada lost my business. Laziness is not rewarded in the hospitality industry.

P.S. If you want to claim you're trying to be environmentally friendly, how about you work on sealing the doors a little better so the A/C doesn't have to run so much?

Rather than pay for an extra day car rental and suffer an early morning drive to the airport, this is a good choice. I was shuttled to the hotel by a kindly soul, black van, black jacket, black gloved. This Ramada is a bargain, recently redecorated (not at the height of fashion but pleasant enough - see room photo).  I picked up an excellent margarita at the bar downstairs and settled in for a quiet night on a very comfy mattress. Sweet dreams!

The room was pretty decent. We are only staying for one night. It is good enough for overnight or two..  It is very close to the airport.  The building is a little run down and need some cleaning in hallways. There is a few coin laundry facility in the middle of the building.  Hallways a little confusing to navigate. Hard time finding my room. Next door has a padlock installed...???

Wow! I thought when I booked a ramada room that it would be nicer than the HoJo I stayed at the night before for $49! Obviously not!! They are doing construction so everything is dirty but that's not the big problem. The problem is that the "renovated" room is just as dirty as the outside! The bathroom was utterly disgusting! For $109, I am disappointed with the quality!

stayed for one night, because we had missed our flight.  Not at all worth the price of the room, although the cheapest in the area for short notice.  The restaurant downstairs was really "ghetto" and not professional at all.  The heater didn't work. The alarm clock was set from I guess the previous tenant at 12 am, which woke me up out of a dead sleep and whatever construction on the roads was going on nearby, woke me up as well. The rooms are outdated and water stained.  This place needs a serious face lift.  It felt more like a mom and pop hotel room then a chain. Gawful!

    Unsafe! Reported to BBB.
1- Elevators are broken -- operating with no posted license! Elevator licenses show 8-2012 expiration! It's Feb 2013!
(Main one often opens only rusty door and multiple guests get stuck over 1 week period -- no effort to fix!)

    2. Fridge enclosed in a nice looking TV stand -- but it has no ventilation and cabinet heats up-- Fire Hazard-- reporting to authority.

I would tell them but they don't care about ANYTHING!

2- Except for 1-2 super nice front desk day people, mostly rude -- very unresponsive.
     A) ask for supplies-- wrong ones arrive
B). Ask why all TV stations not work, promise to fix and don't even call back!

3- Half rooms are really bad UNrenovated!  How can they advertise "Renovated" it's not! Only some rooms-- bad TV, bad service

4- Bait & Switch:  also list "secure" safes in room
    A) no safe in room!
    B) crawling with questionables-- witnessed prostitute deal being negiotiated in the broken elevator!
    (Thank God it opened!)

5- No Restaurant on premise: it's very separate of HO-tel!  Called the Hurricane, they do not welcome hotel guests. They close at random times based on volume-- leaving one with no reliability -- and the bald bartender manager is snotty about it!

6- No business Center--- another "spin"
It's got 2 computers that logout in 30 min and can lose all work'
It's next to the Hurricane "close when we want" supposed Hotel eatery.
And when it is open-- it's so loud, you cannot function in the business center no matter how much Adderol your Dr. Gives you.

7- wifi makes you login every few hours!

Good: there are some nice workers in both places -- but like 2-4 at best.

So Ramada -- is a paper tiger.
The fines from the State due to Safety of elevator will be coming in soon.

I also hit my head on the short showers , and I'm 4ft 11! (Tort!)

    And the exploding fridge!

Stay here only if you need to be in walking distance to the Penthouse club and Dollhouse Strip Joint

I have worked in hotels, and I know for a fact hotels love to mislead people! This hotel will not be very nice unless it is torn to the ground and rebuilt. Even if the rooms are renovated, the building and lay out are just out of date and lame!

I am not going down to 1 star, just because I have seen a lot worse. But for being so close to the airport and the International Mall, these owners she get on the horse and start this place over from scratch!

The good: nice restaurant/bar and airport shuttle.

The bad: the rooms are stuck in the 70's and they smell like it. It smelled musky and I get did not get a comfortable feeling in the lobby, or the courtyard  area abutted with the rooms, or inside the rooms. There are definitely worse hotels and my family got a good price on the place, but it was not comfortable. The staff was also rather amateurish.  Maybe they were new. But as someone with 3+ years experience working front desk at hotels, I could have kicked these guys butts at customer service. Especially when a hotel is out of date like this one, you have to make up for it with good staff. The owners either don't know this or just don't care. Either way, I would suggest finding a different place, maybe something out closer to the bay, if you need to stay by the airport.

***This is for the car rental agency based out of this hotel. NOT for the hotel (I am not sure if this place has a yelp page, as it has multiple names). However, it hurts the hotel to have such a horrible business reside amongst its guests.

Action Car, Nu Car, whatever car you want to call it. If you're renting one out of this place due to Priceline/Expedia/WhateverBargainSiteYouUse, avoid it at ALL costs.

Not only did they NOT have a car for us, we waited 3 hours to get one that we didn't ask for! Not the economical vehicle that we specifically wanted due to mileage and gas consumption. We got a Chrysler full size sedan. It was scratched up, dinged, beaten, and inconvenient.

I don't know how they got on the popular deal website or how they're even in business, but I sure hope they shape up or ship out. We weren't the only ones waiting either! About 3 or 4 families were ahead of us, all confused as to why their reserved vehicles were unavailable.

Oh, and not to mention that the car we WERE supposed to have was rented out to someone else, and they had to call a manager in to override to cancel that other reservation so we could use it.

Pay the extra money and go with someone WAY more reliable.

    What a joke!

Do you despise rest? Do you long for discomfort? If so, this is the place for you. Clearly hasn't been updated in 30+ years. The wall unit AC is soooo loud. It woke me every 20 minutes when it kicked on and again when it turned off. TV remote was literally taped together. Wifi is free but super slow. No comforter on the bed, just a sheet covered by a thin blanket covered by another sheet. Typical scratchy cheap hotel linens and towels. At 5am,WWIII started outside as the garbage truck repeatedly slammed dumpsters to the ground. At 6am, a squadron of 737s barely missed flying through my room. I understand there's noise involved with staying close to the airport, but it's less than ideal when the hotel roof is a continuation of the runway. Even at $55 per night, this place gets one star.

The saying "you get what you pay for" comes to mind while  describing my experience at this Hotel. This is not your typical Ramada hotel. It felt and looked like a Motel 6. I was a little disappointed that they would advertise free continental breakfast but they discontinued it 1 year ago. Also half the hotel is under construction. There was a mad odor in the lobby and also the room.
If you are looking for a cheap hotel, don't expect a five star treatment or look. The only good part if this experience was the beds were very comfy.

This is not that nice of a hotel, and the price isn't that great either. I think it would get 3 stars if it weren't for the fact that it was under construction. The lobby looked fine except for the construction, but when I went to my room, it took me to an elevator outside. The room was pretty drab, but I got a decent wifi signal there. The bed was fine, but the fact that the room was situated outside gave it a cheap motel feel. The gym was under construction so all they had was a few exercise bikes and ellipticals. I'm all about cheap hotels, but I think I didn't like it so much because my expectations were higher based on pictures.

The hotel is in a good location for a fly in fly out business trip. Its close to the airport and walking distance to two shopping malls. The Westshore District is not very pedestrian friendly, narrow sidewalks and little connectivity.

The hotel is very dated and not very nice. But, the rates are fair and the staff were friendly. The pool area is relaxing and the hotel is pretty clean.  It feels safe. Other hotels on the street are a lot pricier.

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM A RAMADA...AT LEAST IN FLORIDA.  LOOK FOR OTHER HOTELS. I am currently staying at a Ramada in Sarasota, FL and have just attempted to cancel our reservation for our stay (tonight) at the Ramada at Tampa Airport Westshore.  I will never book another stay at a Ramada again.  Our room in Sarasota had a strong urine smell, there was no shower curtain, there were stains on the carpet and there were no hand towels.  I complained to the front desk and there did provide us with another room (a bit better), but clearly, they must book terrible rooms and then hope that no one complains.  This experience prompted me to look into the reviews for the Ramada at Tampa Airport (Westshore) and found many others who described the hotel as "disgusting."  While I am yet to stay at this hotel, I didn't want to find out just how disgusting it is/was.  After calling the hotel and Ramada corporate, they would not allow me to cancel the reservation because it is within their 24 hour cancellation policy.  So, I am prepared to write a detailed review on just how disgusting the rooms are...in fact, I will just be adding to the other reviews.

So I was looking for a cheap place to stay in Tampa that has free WIFI, free parking and free breakfast and was in a great location with easy access around the Westshore area.  This was the cheapest place which met that description.  It is becoming harder and harder these days finding a place which gives free WIFI, parking and breakfast.  Also a place this close to the airport and other area attractions.

You will find that other hotel guests are quite an older crowd and very budget minded.  I actually recall dropping off some older relatives who booked this place years ago.

Honestly, you get what you pay for and the rooms were not that great.  The classic MOtel experience where all of the doors open to the outside versus an inner hall.  The breakfast was better than i expected.  They had a waffle machine which made giant waffles and a selection of different breads and cereals.  The carpet probably needs to be replaced and everything modernized.  It appeared that they had an entire wing of the hotel closed for renovations and workers were busy one morning fixing it up.  At least they are trying to make it better.

I think I paid $62 per night.  If I paid $10 more, I could have booked a much nicer place.  I was looking to save money though and wanted all of those other perks.  I am not certain I would stay here again but I wanted cheap and that is what i got.  I didn't book this anticipating a 5 star hotel.  Saying that, I would probably give this 2.5 stars and I am rounding up to 3.

I would recommend this place to people who are really really trying to save money while staying in Tampa, who want all the perks I listed above but I would heavy caveat this recommendation with how outdated and in need of refurbishment this place currently is.

Stayed in August 2013 - Stay away if you can afford to.  The lobby is nice and there is a bar attached that looks pretty cool but the rest of the hotel is not great.  Rooms are old and the"renovations" consist of some new carpet and paint.  Though the bathroom wasnt horrible, nice hot water.

This really isn't that bad if you can get a room for $50-$75. But for $119/ night stay at one of the nicer hotels in the area as this is the WORST hotel in the business district.

The lobby area is nice-it is large and open. There are quite a few leather red couches to sit on and surf the Internet on the free wifi. In the morning, there is free coffee, decaf and hot water for tea.

There is also a bar, it's called the Royal Orchid. That is a stupid name for a sports bar but they have a decent beer selection and ALL of their drinks are 2 for 1 all day long. That is magical. Suck it bar at the double tree, this is a way better deal.

The hotel fits the definition of "meh, I've had better". It is dated. It is difficult to find your room through the winding outdoor corridors. They are doing construction and housekeeping is awful.

But the bed is much more comfortable than a motel and the rooms are cleaner. The pool is nice as well.

Also, free parking and free wifi in the rooms.

Basically if you can stay here for $50-$75 per night through Hotwire or Orbitz, I say go for it. But if you are stuck with $119-$129, stay at Doubletree, Hyatt, Sheraton or the Embassay Suites. They are much nicer for the same price!!!

So I would stay here again ... just not by myself.

The place looks like a motel with its room doors facing the open air.  However, none are on the first floor and there are no external staircases so it's almost as safe as a normal hotel.  Except for the fact that if you're a female staying there by yourself (ahem) any person on the street or in the parking lot can watch you walk to your room by yourself and see which room you go into.  Add into that the fact that there is a strip club next door and the skeeve factor is increased exponentially.  With the exception of that creepy feeling, I had no safety issues whatsoever.

Lobby was renovated.  Staff was super friendly and helpful.  Because I finished my work in Tampa earlier than expected, I checked out a day early without any problems.

Room was also recently renovated and quite comfortable.  No problems there.  A bit of street noise, but that is as expected.  Air conditioner was also loud, but that is also as expected.  There was no microwave but there was a little fridge.  Bath products were nice.  TV was nice, but it didn't have Bravo and the HBO channels didn't work.

However, many of the other rooms on the floor appeared to be in mid-renovation (empty of furniture, with various tools and supplies in them), but I never saw anyone actually doing any renovation work.  Additionally, there were large pots for plants that were completely empty all over the empty foyer.  It seems like they might be trying to find out if renovating the rooms is even worth it - the place seemed kinda empty.

Gym was unimpressive - two ellipticals (one that sounded like a dinosaur), a treadmill (that needed a cleaning), and a bike.

No breakfast included, but they do have a restaurant and bar on site.

I didn't use the pool, but it looked nice.

I hope the shuttle service is not a reflection of the hotel.  Called when I landed and it took over 35 minutes to come get me.  It is a 5 minute drive.  Don't get me wrong things happen but what is not acceptable is that I am told they are on the way and I rush thru the airport to meet the shuttle and no shuttle.  Call again and am told that he is on the way.  Another 1o minutes go by and I call and told he is 10 minutes out.  Enough to is enough just be honest don't lie and waste my time I would have taken a cab if they had been honest and told me it was going to be over 30 minutes.  That is what upsets me.  Just be honest

This was decent for a budget hotel - though I would never spend more than $75 or so here.  It's kind of an odd place - stuck between a cheap place and fancy hotel.  Eg, the bed looks luxurious, but the bathroom looks like it was hastily and poorly redone

    - Fairly clean
    - Comfortable bed with nice linens and comfy pillows
    - Nice location near the airport
    - Fridge
    - Microwave in the breezeway
    - Nice pool

    - Weird bathroom, with cheap walls that you can push in and dust / plaster all over the floor
    - On the flight path - could definitely hear planes flying over
    - Tiny TV
