This is a beutiful hotel.  One of the most well decorated hotels I've been in.   The price isn't bad for what you get.  The bed was comfy and the hotel is conected to a mall. You can't get any more convienent than that.

Pluses:
Nice landscaping, interior design
Great location (Bay Street/International plaza)
10 minutes by free shuttle to airport
Clean
Good Starbucks coffee (beats Starbucks!)
Minuses:
Overpriced
Poor bar (a $10.50 "manhattan" without bitters)
Found the bed too hard for my tastes

Situated next to an upscale mall so it is what it is. I was anticipating total cookie cutter but it was a cut above that. Bathrooms were marble and very nice, rooms were spacious and the bed was comfortable. Still had art on the walls that said 236/500 but you know really it was 23,600/500,000 :) My room was by the elevator but was very quiet. The view of the parking lot and adjacent expressway was gorgeous. There's also a free shuttle from the airport 5 minutes away.

One tip: right now if you check in via their self-help kiosk you get a free movie or free internet for one day. Choose the internet then download movies illegally and you get the best of both worlds. This is only a suggestion though as I would never actually do this myself :)

I stay here every week for work related reasons.

Minuses: really sketchy internet.   There is wireless on the first floor, but I've never been able to get it on the second floor where I usually stay.  However, you can get broadband access in your room.

Pluses: clean rooms, well decorated common area downstairs, decent pool and jacuzzi, extremely nice and courteous staff, great ambiance, and right next door to a ton of bars and restaurants as well as a mall if you need to do some shopping.   If you are here on business, depending on what company you work for, there is access to a lounge where there is complimentary breakfast and desserts at night.   The beds are really comfy too, with lots of pillows the way I like it.   The 3 or 4 times I've ordered room service, they have been very prompt.  I once ordered, went out for a cigarette, came back up the elevator, and the waiter was already there! It must have been 5 minutes.  The food is rather expensive though (think 14 bucks for a Turkey Club sandwich), so there are other options nearby if you are traveling on a budget .   My favorite part of the hotel is the open outdoor space with couches and chairs by the lobby.   There's also a small bar and a small gift shop in case you forgot a few toilet items.

This is the second time we have stayed for a seminar. The front desk ,was very accommadating. We requested a king room ,received a room with 2 fulls, called the desk and was promptly moved us. Once in the new room we noticed this room was minus the fridge, again the front desk promptly had one brought to the room.
I do have one complaint, that is the internet service. In todays world where Wi-Fi is free at most motels ,coffee houses and restaurants I found it funny that payment was requested for intenet usage.
I do have a main concern though:  I went to breakfast at the  PelagiaTrattoria                  . I was one of five in the dining area.Four women at another table. Walking up to the buffet table I slipped and fell ,on what appeared to be water on the floor. I got up and the women asked if I was alright, but their waiter ,with no concern or care replies to them telling him I just fell ,huh howed that get there, and put a chair over the spot. Ten minutes pass and my waitress comes over,I relate the story and my concern that the spill has yet to be cleaned up..The waiter remarked unkindly the mop closet is locked. My waitress got a table cloth an put it on the floor.
I was basically un hurt other than pride, but the lack of concern for a customers safety concerns me. No incident report was filled out, I was told no managers were present,The waitress offered to tell the front desk, but related probly nothing would be done.Just concerned ,I was not injured a little sore from slipping on tile. Returned for breakfast today and the waitress asked how I was. Cooking staff that makes waffles very rude to waitress. Just an observation. Seemed very tense among the employees.
.
There should be protocol in place for such an incident (Falls ,Injuries). I am not sue happy/lucky for them.
Motel is very clean , friendly and comfortable.Like the herb and veggie garden in front of the restaurant.

Nice hotel in fantastic location!  Attached to International Mall, about a 2 minute walk to the restaurants along Bay Street.  I enjoy staying here on business, mainly for the proximity to the restaurants.  Capital Grill, Cheesecake Factory, too jays deli, Bravo, etc are less than 5 minutes from your room.  Also the shopping is fantastic too.  The hotel has a shuttle to pick u up from the airport, as well as drop you back eliminating the need for a rental car.  The rooms are okay, the club lounge is very nice with a friendly attendant.  No complaints.  A good business hotel with a fantastic location and nice services!

More business/conference oriented rather than a resort. Good if you plan to go out and do activities rather than hang out at the hotel.

Likes:
Complimentary oranges glasses of fruit infused water near the front desk.
Headphones, towels and water available in the 24 hour fitness center which is small and has sufficient equipment for most people. With TV/DVD at each cardio machine.
Situated next to an upscale mall. Close to airport. Not far from Yankees Spring Training facilities, Busch Gardens, Clearwater Beach, Aquarium, and other attractions

Dislikes:
Starbucks coffee at the bar but they don't have all items listed on menu (like Frapps)
Courtyard area often closed for events held at the hotel.
Beds and pillows were fine for me but others found them uncomfortable.

I would definitely stay here again! Everything was GREAT! The bed was so comfortable, the room was extremely cozy-- I loved that they had an iphone dock in the room! The pool and spa were amazing, and I enjoyed ordering drinks by the pool while relaxing. The restaurant in the hotel was great, and my absolute favorite thing about it was the short walking distance to the mall and all the shops and restaurants in the area! It was great! The staff is extremely friendly. You could vacation at this hotel and be totally satisfied. If I ever end up in Tampa again, I'll definitely be staying here.

Nice interior, nice check-in staff, and a generally classy atmosphere. Everything seems nice and new, and the staff are accommodating. Main negative: no Comedy Central.

The proximity to a nearby mall with a wide array of reataraunts and shops is a huge plus, as I was presented with dozens of dining options within slow five minute walk.

Also, for those of us tall people, the shower head is at like 7 feet, so no more having the water hit you midchest as it can instead cascade down your head,

Love this hotel!  Stayed here several nights while looking for an apartment in the Tampa area. I usually don't sleep well in a hotel but slept like a baby each night of my stay.  The Hotel is attached to the International Plaza & Bay Street Mall.  It is also near the Tampa International Airport.  Definitely would recommend for anyone visiting Tampa.

I end up in Tampa for work frequently, so I've had a lot of experience with hotels around town. The Renaissance is one of the nicer hotels I've stayed at in Tampa. Everything is nice and the staff is more than willing to help.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Its right next to Bay Street; an outdoor mall full of shops and restaurants. By the way, the food they prepare at the Renaissance is very good but if you absolutely must go to the Cheesecake Factory, you can do that to.

The only criticism I can think of is probably the parking situation. If you don't valet you have to park in the mall parking-lot, something about that doesn't seem very safe to me but that can easily be addressed by valet parking.

I recently stayed here when I was at a conference, and for a conference location, you really can't beat it.   And I would know, considering I've been to/spoken at/planned roughly a billion of them.

The hotel room is a hotel room- no complaints there except I wish there were more plugs for electronics and I wish a bathrobe was provided.  I do judge based on bathrobes.

The middle courtyard seems like a great place for an after-conference reception and would have been had it not rained the entire time.

Staff is very nice and the complimentary hotel shuttle is the bomb.

The best part- the attachment to the mall and the ability to go eat at a number of different restaurants, all reasonably priced.

I would recommend it for a small-medium sized conference.

I came to this hotel for my twin's wedding tasting. Upon entering I noticed there's a fun, but upscale carnivalesque, or circus look going on with a sexy open top courtyard in the middle. Sis explained she didn't want to follow the herd for her reception, but I had no idea there was even a hotel nestled into the armpit of International mall! We were met by Harley and sat in a private room with server and Chef Brett Austin Gardiner greeted us, talked us thru the menu. NOW I'm excited. I've posted pics of most of the food we tried that included Ahi tuna, lobster, lambchops, beef wellington, paninis, marinated and grilled veggies, hummus, baba ganoush, ceasar salad, mixed greens with bleu cheese, walnuts and fig dressing, shrimp skewered on rosemary, goat cheese polenta, crabcakes, desserts of all kinds, wine flowing like water, and coffee. My favorites of the night were the perfectly cooked filet which would rival what I've had at Charlie's, and the crab cakes, because I don't like crabcakes, but these were so lumpy, and light! I can't believe everything came out to temperature. I learned that Chef Gardiner haunts Pelagia Trattoria, and knew I never stood a chance at being disappointed. I really love this hotel, and even I can't believe it. Oh, and there's a 15% discount and daily 25 daily hotel credit deal going on now too! Shriek!

First time I stayed here was for an airline mileage run, back in the days when airline miles actually got you something.

It's a very nice hotel that's close to the airport.  They have a small section of self-parking spots, all of which are free.  The hotel also offers valet parking service.

Not knowing the hotel's age--it still looks new.  The lobby, elevator cars, and hallways are clean and well kept.  The guestrooms don't disappoint.  They offer just the right amount of space and they have deck out bathrooms.  Marble counter tops, Aveda toiletries, great water pressure for both the sink and the shower/tub.

They have great towels and linens as well.  The bed is comfy, and best of all the thermostat actually works...no foolish energy saving ones where you wake up in the middle of the night sweating because the HVAC sensor didn't see you moving in bed.

I like the paid internet.  Discourages a lot of the folks that just want to suck of valuable bandwidth.  Technology wise I find the only thing the rooms really lack is access to power.  I found I had to run my extension cord next to the bed under the coffee maker.

A great addition to the room is the minifridge.  It's hidden under the TV in what looks like a dresser drawer.  In the room they offer you $4.50/bottle Evian for 500mL.  I'm normally not disturbed by noise, but I found I heard a lot of noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms.

The staff at check in were nice, and any time you saw staff in the halls they'd always say Hi.

I really liked being connected to the mall with a few food options.  Though watch out, on a busy night you won't find a table anywhere at any of the mall's restaurants as the whole plaza gets packed.

Can't wait to return.

This is a great hotel to stay. It is attached to a very large mall and it is extremely close to the airport. Despite that proximity there is little or no noise from incoming flights. Not sure why but that is a definite plus!

The rooms were all well-appointed with the ever-more important outlets near the bed stand. The bathroom was clean as was the room, and everything seemed pretty refreshed and updated.

Staff was very friendly, no problems there at all. Parking is either free if you can find a spot in the parking lot nearby (sometimes a challenge) or you have the option to valet your car.

Located at International Plaza and Bay Street, this hotel is one of the best in Tampa bay.

We often hold work meetings and functions at this hotel. In fact, my final interview for my current position was held here.

The amenities are well appointed, the food offered is excellent for a hotel, the staff is always accommodating and friendly and the parking is not an issue.

The best thing about this hotel, whether you're staying here for pleasure or for work, is it's connected to Bay Street, which allows you to take a brief walk to an upscale restaurant or bar. The choices are endless with Capital Grill, Brio, Zen sushi and to finish off a nice meal, you can stop at the gelato store.

If you're looking to do some upscale shopping, this is the place to stay. Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom's, Dillard's and too many boutiques to name are just a few of your shopping selections.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great hotel well managed and great customer service. Great restuarant!!
Pool could use a little more excitement.

Focus on pool a little more.

Not your standard Renaissance!  This must have been an old La Quinta where they only upgraded the lobby.  The rooms were just alright, the location was average and the concierge lounge was too small to be taken seriously.  The concierge breakfast was more limited than most Marriott properties and the coffee was terrible.  It needs a serious upgrade and face lift.  There are better options, I suggest that you take them.

Nice hotel, great for events and staying for a few days.  Close to all the exciting things, like a mall, a bunch of restaurants and bars, Tampa International Airport, and even Raymond James Stadium.

Amenities are nice.  I was able to work out AND watch Adventure Time at the same time (thanks to their gym, which is well stocked and also has apples).  The pool and whirlpool are also pretty nice.

The fridges are, um, weird.  They are hidden in what looks like a dresser drawer.  I mean, who hides a fridge?  Also, they are essentially set to frozen.  Your beer?  Frozen.  Your salad you bought at Cheesecake Factory that is surprisingly healthy but you didn't want to eat the whole thing because their portions are too large?  Also frozen.  It's like you are in Frozen, a movie I have not seen but that people seem to like.

That being said, good stuff, especially for events.

See that big-ass red button that reads "BOOK NOW"?  Click it!  You won't be sorry.

About 50 of us seemingly took over this hotel for a massive wedding this past weekend, and everything was great.  Friendliness of the staff, quality of the food from the Pelagia Trattoria (separate review) and the overall cleanliness and organization of the hotel.  It was like staying at a fancy hotel without the price tag.  I walked away after  2 night stay with a great sense of satisfaction.

Tips I have, if you're doing a wedding or other large party in one of their halls, ask about their rooms with the attached hospitality suites because they're huge.  Also, on the 8th floor, there is a huge "club lounge" with a television, couch and office work area that even has a printer.

What a great place!

So disappointed.
We went to a wedding and spent the evening - the wedding was beautiful - but the hotel was a BIG disappointment!  We saw a garbage bag hanging from the outside court yard (we actually told a hotel person about this because it took away from the beauty of the wedding reception).  The hallway to our room had a Klenex top box in the hall for the two days we stayed there along with plastic wrappers. At 5:00AM they delivered our papers - you could hear them dropping the paper at each door step. CRAZY noisy!!!  And when we told hotel staff about this, they seemed as if it wasn't there problem! Very disappointing to say the least.  BUT the wedding was amazing - thank God the Bride knew what she was doing and hired all the right people (florets, band, etc.) to have the perfect evening.

Got to enjoy this hotel for a quick girl night weekend hang out. We drove down from Orlando, found quick parking (which they share with the mall) and got to our 8th floor room after a very speedy and efficient early check in. When you walk around the lobby of the hotel, you'll see accents and little touches which just make it feel so classy.
The room itself was so clean, well kept and truly nice. It was a double bedded room with a view to the airport. The bed were firm, there was a nice accent chair with a comfy matching foot stool and the dresser/television stand which housed a small frig in it (well sized for our sodas and adult chocolate milk we started the evening with).
(The room was about $190 we split it among us)
The hotel has an access to the mall for staying clients which lead us directly to the dining area. There will be reviews for those two places we went to also. Since we stayed in a suite, we were able to enjoy their breakfast for free.
I filled my plate with bacon, scrambled eggs, two pastries and and some cheese at 10ish (yes, we slept in! LOL)
It was a nice place to stay and if I could afford it more often or need to be on that side of time, I would definitely want to return.

Had a conference here and I'm giving five stars for the food they served for lunch alone. The place was amazing. The room was beautiful. Tons of coffee, tea and drinks posted throughout the entire day. Lunch was insanely delicious. Wait staff kept the room clean throughout the day. Great experience.
