I live a out 20 mintues from this place but used my Marriot points to come here as a getaway with my girlfriend since its across the street from the Tampa theater. The rooms are updated, modern and comfortable. Its easy access to the highway, restaurants and the best parts of Tampa. I would recommend to anyone coming to Tampa

I'm writing my Yelp review from the hotel right now, and I could not be happier.  I spent the last 5 days in a Hilton in San Francisco, and let me just say that the last 24 hours here was much better than the 5 days at the Hilton.

For beginners - FREE INTERNET!  Not just internet, by WIFI.  Hilton wanted $16 for 24 hours, but not only that it was going to be wired.  Not only that, but that was the price for ONE LAPTOP.  We have 3 laptops between the 2 of us and they wanted us to pay $48/ day?  We caved and paid for one night to test it out.  Guess what?  It was slow.

The internet here is FREE.  Not only that its wired and wireless.  There's no limit on laptops and its not that bad in terms of speed.  Free WIFI = NOT COMPLAINING.

Next up, free continental breakfast?  Every day between 630 and 930a there is free breakfast in the common area in the main room.  How convenient is THAT?  It allows all the guests to get together and meet each other, and it definitely saves you a drive somewhere.

They  have a selection of cereal, waffles, sausage, eggs, french toast, bagels, bread, milk, juice, coffee and tea.

Hilton?  $35 room service.  FOR EGGS!

The staff here is super friendly and nice.  They will do whatever needs to  be done to make sure your stay here is a wonderful one.  Always a smiling face.

I highly recommend anyone in the Tampa area to stay here on their travels.  You won't regret it.

BTW the rooms here are spacious and the beds are comfortable.  Not to mention LCD televisions.  Hilton?  Tubes!  Seriously - upgrade already!

This is a great hotel at a very affordable price. Definitely the best value for your money in downtown Tampa.

- Location: It's centrally located to a lot of great spots (from Ybor City to Channelside to Soho, etc). It's about 25 mins. to downtown St. Pete. And 45 mins. to the beach. They offer a free shuttle until 11:00pm within a 2-mile radius. We only took it to Ybor.

Rooms: Very clean, spacious, and modern. We stayed in a queen studio with a balcony. The studio was so cute, like our own little home away from home. It had a pull-out couch, full kitchen with stove, microwave, and full fridge. The sink area is separated from the toilet/shower. Large flat screen tv.

Breakfast: Full, hot, and tasty breakfast served every morning until 10:00am. Scrambled eggs, sausage patties, breakfast potatoes, breads, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, make-your-own Belgium waffles with great toppings (whipped cream, caramel, powdered sugar, chocolate chips, strawberry sauce, raisins, walnuts, etc).

Parking: Here's why the rating is 4 stars and not 5. They changed management companies 2 weeks ago and, in doing so, made a poor decision with the parking situation. There's a private lot across the street, but they share it with the Marriott Courtyard. The catch is, the Residence Inn is only allotted 40 parking spots and once those spots are filled, the remaining guests have to park elsewhere. If you can get a spot, it's $11/day with no extra charge for in and out. However, it's tough to get a spot. Our first night, we had to park in the parking garage around the corner (DON'T DO THAT - the hotel misinformed us of the price, and the parking garage charged us $12/12 hours). The second night, we got a spot. But when we were checking in, we witnessed 3-4 other VERY unhappy guests who didn't get spots. It's a risk you take staying here - you might not be able to park your car; beware.

Customer service: Outstanding!! Pierre (front desk) and Kenneth (front desk & shuttle driver), along with a couple others we met, all provided phenomenal customer service! Very friendly and professional. They get to know you, so it feels like home and it's hard to leave.

Etc: Small basketball court. 2 hot tubs. Grill area with tables and chairs. Pool. (All fore mentioned are shared with the Marriott Courtyard.) Fitness room. 24-hour market in the lobby (Tylenol, chips, water, soda, ice cream, microwaveable dinners, etc). Free wifi. Computer in the lobby with free access.

All in all, a fantastic hotel and it's hard to beat the price downtown. We'd definitely stay here again, but we're hoping they get the parking issue resolved.

I couldn't ask for a better experience with a ton of people in town. They were accommodating to the size of the party and was willing to move people so they had a better stay. The pool was nice along with the fire pit and BBQ section there was room. It's.the price fits the billing I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay at a low cost with a delicious breakfast.

Clean, spacious rooms and friendly helpful staff made my stay at the Residence Inn a pleasure.  There is a very nice pool, and the free hot breakfast in the morning is a full breakfast (eggs & bacon etc.).  The location in downtown Tampa is great, with a short 12 minute drive to the airport.  The only complaint I had was the Wi-Fi was pretty slow, but other than that I enjoyed my stay.  I'll be back here next time I'm in Tampa.

It's 6 am and I didn't sleep all night due to the vibrations from a/c most likely on roof of my 6th floor unit. The hotel is banged up and bruised but the room doesn't have to be dirty.  I usually stay at Marriott but this one is the WORST! I read the reviews on trip advisor and only found a few that shared my sentiment. I suppose maybe I have a higher standard for clean but having just spent almost 2 months in Italy for work moving every couple of days staying in places from 50 euro to 500 euro I couldn't find a place grosser than this and only one hotel in Italy with same a/c noise problem near Portifino but other than that the lowest of Italian roughing it is better than this MOTEL. It's hard to be pleasant when you were up all night and paid for it:(

just wanted to say that I received a full refund and management contacted me to make sure I was taken care of. Although I have never stayed here, they are more than fair and will stand by their business. i would not ask for any more than that and my new recommendation would be to definitely stay at this hotel if you have a chance.

Better than Ritz. Down to earth friendly, (call you by name), without being stuffy. Bent over backwards helpful and resolved problems immediately. Free shuttle, free full breakfast (healthy too), free internet. Clean, good size rooms. OH! Even free snacks like Beer and wine!

What more do you need? Can I move in for good?

We paid $189.00 a night for our two bed room..our furniture was chewed up (they are pet friendly). It literally took 10-15 for our water to get warm (not hot). Pulled our sheets back and there was black hair on the sheets and pillow..called front desk and asked for new linen and they never brought it. I had to go get it. I have stayed in way better for alot less money.

Wow, I am not really sure how this hotel has such good reviews.  It is a Residence Inn, and by nature offers all the services listed by other users.  This is not the best or worst I have stayed at.  It is just OK.

We stayed here due to the proximity to Ybor and the amentities that a Residnece Inn has to offer.  What I did not like is the fact that I could not park in the lot across the street.  I was told that they were full, and no more parking was available.  Seriously?  A.) It should be first come first serve.  So if people leave, they lose there spot, just like anywhere else.

B.) Free parking is listed on the website.

C.) I am a Platinum member. :)

This hotel is very accommodating and personable led by an outstanding Manager, Shab. This hotel is extremely clean and neat. The pool and hot tub are surrounded by beautiful palm trees. A couple of good perks about this hotel is the location to downtown and the University of Tampa.
Some additional benefits provided by this Residence Inn are the complimentary breakfasts each morning and they also offer 2 free nights of Happy Hour each week, which they serve beer, wine and food!!!
I highly recommend this Residence Inn!!!

The Residence Inns usually don't have restaurants on location but instead they do have certain complimentary dinner and drinks around 6pm. At this location the dinner I had was definitely not worth checking out. I was there on pasta night, which tasted like frozen left overs reheated. Eh, gross.

Strike 1: The pool was small and shared with the courtyard Marriott next door. Also a whole lot more shade than sun at this pool. It was cold since the sun was no where in sight since both hotels block it out.

Strike 2:  The parking was inconvenient at check in and isnt free, it is $12 regardless if of your reward status (they don't follow any reward status here at all). I like to park and not have to run back and forth for luggage. I'm glad it wasn't raining and once I was checked in, it was easier to relax.

Strike 3: Not clean. See my photo, a trash can was left overflowing over night with a friggin plate and bread on the ground. They put a bill under my door late night so clearly a staff member walked by the trash. The room was not the cleanest either.

Bonus, Strike 4: the breakfast had nothing healthy...no fresh fruit at all. In fact, nothing fresh. Yum, greasy sausage reheated...can't wait.

Extra bonus strike 5: free wifi, yes! Moves at snail speed after 5 pm when the entire hotel tries to gain access.

One pro I can think of: I liked the balcony view and room set up. The surrounding area is nice.

Return rating: 8% ....too many strikes to enjoy my stay

The rooms are very spacious and allow you to spread out during your stay.  I took advantage of the free internet and the lobby has a complimentary printer.  The parking situation was somewhat inconvenient, I'm assuming the main lot was full so I parked in an auxiliary lot that was dark and had many huge puddles to navigate around.

I would recommend this resort if you are in town on business or goin

This hotel got all of the extra niceties right: Great pool, hot tub, basketball court; free social events with food and drinks M-W, free shuttle, goody bag for elite mbrs, breakfast was pretty good for being free.
Unfortunately, the hotel failed at a lot of the basic hotel things: uncomfortable bed, loose shower handle, clogged tub drain, broken TV remote. Out of fairness to the hotel, I did not report any of the above so they didn't have a chance to correct any of it. Finally, the location is not a short distance to any nice hangout area, more like the business district.

The staff at this hotel were phenomenal. My friend and I were just there and we both got rather ill.  The staff was very accommodating and understanding. They asssisted us in calling for the EMS.
I would like to point out Diedre who made us feel very welcomed when we arrived. Jennifer, when we checked out, was very helpful and kind. Tameisha, at the front desk,  oriented us and was flexible while we were dealing with these unexpected turn of events. Besides all that, the place was clean,  the room spacious, the breakfast bar was expansive, and the location was just perfect.

We stayed there again and it was horrible. Worst hotel I have seen. It looked like a motel. The bath tub was clogged, the closet door was broken, the room was dirty and the furniture was ripped off, broken. I had a guest with me and it was a very embarrassing moment. We complained to the hotel management but they did not care at all. Very rude! I can not belive it! Yuck. AND it's not a cheap hotel!!!
Also the pool and jacuzzi were closed for cleaning and exercise machines were broken and squeeky. I had to cross to another hotel and use their machines instead.
We are also a platinum members but were given a room on a 2nd floor with street in front. I could not sleep all night, the traffic right at the window was busy all night.
I highly DO NOT recommend this hotel to ANYONE.

Great location!! Right across the street from curtis hixon riverfront park, the straz center and the muesum of art. Also surrounded by a few hip bars and walking distance to a lot of restaurants.
Clean nice rooms with a full kitchen. The furniture seemed pretty new and the beds were comfortable.  They serve free hot breakfast with waffles etc. They also share a courtyard with the courtyard Marriott so you can sit around the fire pit and play basketball at the basketball court which is not something you fid at your average hotel. The courtyard Marriott has a full bar and a Starbucks that residence guests have access to.
My only complaint is the 15 dollars we paid to park in an overflow lot that low lights and no security or gate. The first lot has a gate...they NEED something for the horrible overflow lot.
