I've stayed at a lot of hotels in the Tampa airport area, and probably wouldn't choose to stay here again. Yes, the rooms are huge and have all the amenities of home (full kitchen, w/d), but what kind of hotel doesn't make the bed or put clean towels in the bathroom? Seriously. I've been here over a week and I know they haven't changed the sheets, either. And if you're not a big fan of military folks (hey, I won't judge) this is not the place for you- there's probably over 100 young marines and airmen here now. Being young marines and airmen. But the price is less than most area hotels so maybe these are the tradeoffs.

i stayed at mainsail while in town for a few weeks for super bowl XLIII. not bad! it was nice and spacious, the service & cleaning was great, and the bed was comfy. there was internet & laundry right in my suite, which was a bonus.
i have no complaints other than:
my suite had no spoons other than huuuuge serving spoons...i called the front desk twice but no human sized spoons showed up either time. also, i would leave dishes in the sink some mornings, and instead of putting them in the dishwasher, the cleaning lady would rinse them and put them in the drying rack, but they were still dirty.  it was very confusing. why not just stick them in the dishwasher, instead of contaminating the washed dishes in the drying rack? not sure what was up with that.

This place is third rate despite their advertising to the contrary. I am here because the hospital recommended it because we are here a week. It's like a cheap apartment with poor maintenance and poor service. The staff is loud and inconsiderate. The front desk is nice but unable to help. The shuttle service is excellent. I won't stay here again nor will I recommend it to anyone.

Adequate for what it is.  Would deserve another star if not for the apathetic staff.  Although it is only 5 minutes from airport I was told shuttle would pick me up in 10 minutes.  40 minutes later they finally arrived.  Front desk is not helpful and occasionally just chooses not to acknowledge you.  Had to call 3 times for tv remote to be provided.  Nice gym tho!

This place was straight out of the shining...not kidding...carrot on our door, blood on the stairs, gated community (looked like a rehab center) and dirty on the inside of the 1980s decor....just dont do it unless you want to hide from somebody.

I had no idea what I was in for when I booked this place on Expedia for a long weekend, but it turned out to be not too bad.

Quick synopsis~
PROS: Spacious and homey. Free shuttle service within a 5-mi radius.  Close to the airport.
CONS: A little overpriced compared to other area hotels. No elevators (if you're lugging bags up to the third floor.) You pay for Wi-Fi ($10/day).

Overall, I would stay again if I could get a good deal. Despite other reviews, the room was very clean. The free shuttle service was a lifesaver, as I didn't rent a car. (Remember to tip the driver!)

There were a few miscommunications (or non-communication, perhaps) between the Front Desk and the Shuttle Drivers, as I was told "right away" and "within 10 minutes" by the first but then actually picked-up 40+ minutes later by the latter... Aside from that, no major complaints.

I was PLEASANTLY SURPRISED by the grilled veggie wrap I ordered from Latitudes, the only on-premises restaurant. I ordered it to-go to eat by the pool, and when I opened the box the presentation blew me away! Beautiful veggies arranged perfectly, and delicious taste!  Made me sad I hadn't tried it earlier on in my stay -- would have ordered it several times.
The Strawberry Daiquiri was tasteless, however.

The fully equipped gym was great. The pool was nice. Overall, a decent place to stay.

I'm not sure how it's possible that anyone could give this a positive review. Unless this "hotel" was completely booked and they placed us in a unit that had been closed down since the early eighties, it was beyond disgusting. I booked a 2 bedroom suite for 3 days and the conditions were so bad that we left after the first night. We only stayed that long because we checked in late and my 2 year old daughter needed to sleep.  I wish the photos I uploaded were HD because you have to see the pictures to appreciate exactly how disgusting this unit is.
Beyond the outdated décor, there were thick layers of dirt and grime on every horizontal surface, the linoleum tile in the bathrooms was peeling up, there were yellow stains all over the ceiling, all the molding in the baths was coming undone and appeared covered in mold, the drains in the bath tubs were corroded to the point they wouldn't close, the TV in the living room didn't work (said they would send maintenance out and never did), the towel bar snapped off in the bathroom when trying to hang up a towel, the toilets were disgustingly stained, and one of the big reasons we chose this place was the advertisement that they had washers and dryers in the units. We opened the door for the laundry and there were only hookups. I guess I must be the unusual traveler that doesn't pack my washer and dryer with me when I fly.
All these problems were noticed in the first hour. I can't imagine what else was wrong with that place and couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Furniture is old and stained with broken springs, kitchen was dirty. Room phone was broken. No elevators, we were on top floor and had to carry all luggage up stairs.  Pool area was decent though hot tub was very unsanitary. You constantly hear planes flying overhead. Only one shuttle for entire development but the shuttle service was very poor. Also they keep their restaurant understaffed so service is sub par. But on the upside the grounds were very nice. Overall poor location, it seemed like a time share place more than a hotel.

This is frankly a weird place.  It's not really a hotel or a resort.  The rooms are spacious but mine showed lots of signs of wear.  Some people seem to be temporarily living here which I would find wholly depressing.   It is one of those places where the rooms are pretty far away from reception and located in different buildings.  The buildings are easy to figure out but it's a pretty good hoof to get back to reception (and not particularly well marked).

The best thing about the hotel from a service perspective is the van driver.  He went out of his way to take me to the airport (it is hard to believe they don't have a regular airport shuttle since they're about 5 minutes away.  He is a nice fellow who clearly is trying to promote the hotel.  The food at the restaurant is ordinary but safe but there is no real ambiance there.

My main reason for staying here was convenience and that would continue to be the only reason I would possibly stay there.

For a gluttonous weekend of drinking and eating in Tampa, this hotel serves its purpose.

What did I like? It's centrally located - nothing is really that far away. The suite was spacious and had a nice little wooden balcony from which we watched a thunderstorm one night. For some reason, there were many bees near this balcony, which can be unsettling, but it was nice to sit out there. The price is also favorable, if you have a group of several people with whom to split the cost. There's a full kitchen, so one could throw together a meal here if desired.

What didn't I like? Scratch beneath the surface a bit, and it was apparent that the room wasn't the cleanest hotel room out there. There was also not enough towels, and requests for more towels went unmet. I also didn't find the beds particularly comfortable. Few hotel beds are, I find, but these mattresses just didn't seem to have much going on.

Plus, the speed bumps around this hotel's parking lots really suck. They somehow manage to be these annoyingly steep and sharp bumps, without actually looking like speed bumps. So, it's a certainty that at least once, you're going to hit one of these bumps too fast and jar your passengers.

Despite the little annoyances, I'd stay here again, thus the 3-star rating. As I said - spacious, cheap, serves its purpose. Can't ask for too much more, though some towels would be nice.

I didn't stay at the hotel but attended a corporate function in one of the ballrooms.

I found the surroundings quite relaxing & the staff very responsive.  It was during Christmas & the decor was very tasteful.

Only real drawback was near the end of the evening the ballroom staff was busily clearing tables (more so than earlier in the evening) even though the lights were still dimmed & people were still sitting at the tables.  I only mention it because it became distracting leaving the impression "boy, these people can't wait to clock out & get out of here."  And sadly, that'll be part of my permanent memory of an otherwise great evening.

I stayed here for a few days during a recent business trip. The best words I can use to describe the place is "very accommodating". The rooms were of nice size, complete with nice living area, capable kitchen, fully equipped. My room had a small balcony that overlooked a small pond, which was a pretty decent view.

The building I was in wasn't too far from the main lobby or entrance, so I thought it was pretty convenient to get in and out of. My first impression when I walked in was "am I in the right place? This looks like a racquet club"... but that's a good thing. They had a nice looking restaurant in the front lobby (which I didn't try out, however), a very nice workout area, and nice pool. I found the staff to be very nice, they cleaned my room nicely each day, so I really have no complaints. I admit, my room seemed a bit dated, as the furniture and such seemed like it was 1985, but it was clean and fine for a visit. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again... and for the price I paid, it was a bargain.

I don't know if it was just my room or not, but I had free wifi.

My Best friend had her wedding here on 2-28-2014 and the conference center patio where the ceremony took place on the patio was so beautiful. The ballroom where the reception took place was gorgeous!
I can not say enough great things about the staff who helped in the back scene of the wedding reception.  I wish I could remeber all there names. They were all so nice and accommodating. if i were getting married this would definetly be a venue choice.
The reason for my 4 star rating and not a 5 star is the fact that its really not a hotel. It seems to me that maybe it was a time share at one point and is converting into condos or something. There were no extra blankets or sheets for the pull out bed so with a family of 4 it was not good, also there was no dish soap or sponge to wash the dishes they had available for us to use and when I tried calling the front desk i would get a message that the office was closed. Also I felt like I was staying in a trailer only because the floors are wood and so are the hallways, my kids loved the noise and kept wanting to jump up and down so I dont think the people below us would like that.otherwise the room was very nice and clean!  It was super duper nice to be a few steps away from the wedding literally so that was worth the money :-)

I live in the mainsail apartments and I love this gated community!!! Wonderful, friendly and professional staff and super nice gym, pool and restaurant and bar! It's like living in a resort! They are always quick with repairs (should you have any), great location, and all utilities included!!! Best apartment I could ever hope for! Love it here!
