My husband and five year old son stayed here for five days. It was so relaxing! Very clean and friendly. The staff were very sweet and helpful. Good food, drinks and the the spa is amazing. We stayed poolside for most of the time and enjoyed the Tiki Bar and food that we ordered poolside. Great place and good price. Will b going here every year for my vacation.

STAY AWAY!  This is no better than a roadside motel... cost the same as the chain hotels (marriott, westin, etc.) but not even close in amenities, quality, etc.

We were there for a family reunion. I expected more from the photos I saw. When we got there it was really an old fashioned pink stucco motel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms bit musty but clean. The ac was noisy and the toilet kept running but they sent maintenance right up to fix. I think you can barter for a good rate. I have seen it posted from $79-89. They said we would have a nice view of the pool but it was the parking lot. Regarding the second floor access: there is no elevator you have to walk up your suitcase. The manager offered to carry my suitcase. There is a restaurant [very popular] downstairs we ate several simple meals there. They are trying to be trendy. Ok for effort. They were very helpful with allergy's family members had. The pool was nice and relaxing. Alternative to a Marriott ...with chains you have a certain standard that you can count on this is a nice convenient out of town place to stay.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The room was clean, the service friendly and attentive. Charles, the shuttle driver was very entertaining and nice. Location is great especially if you are ok with walking about 2 miles, there's the mall and Hyde Park and lots of places to eat! Great looking pool too! I would stay here again and recommend it!

There was a wedding nearby that we attended so I booked the tahitian for one night.

The bad: The website is constantly down. I've heard of some problems with people booking their rooms and not getting the group rate.
Its more of a motel so noise outside can be a problem. We were near the pool and with people partying it up at 2AM, not cool for those trying to sleep.

The good: room was clean and staff was nice.

Checkout is at noon and they dont mess around. Housekeeping was there at 11:50 to wake everyone.

Restored 60's motor cort hotel. Rooms are spacious and comfortable but they are what they are older style rooms. Not a courtyard or embassy suites. Great offer to let you leave your car with them while you cruise. They offer free parking and shuttle service to the port for their guests.

Drive up Motel with a nice refinished look is the best way I can describe the Tahitian Inn in Tampa. I choose this hotel, as many sales people do, on the basis of price and convenience to where I was headed. It was located just outside the downtown area but close enough to get there with little trouble. The rate was amazing (I booked through Southwest and coupled it with my flight) and the staff was friendly especially the bartender in the restaurant.

The one downfall to the hotel was the bed, which are arguably the most important part of a hotel! They were hard and the pillows were slightly lumpy (but there were many of them so it kind of made up for it). For the price and convenience, I would stay again however, if there is a comparably price hotel nearby, I may try to find a softer bed.

I had business in Tampa last week, so I decided to make it a long weekend so that I could visit with old Tampa friends.  I took care of biz and then made my way over to the Tahitian.

Check-in was easy enough.  I asked for a Florida Resident rate, as all beach hotels offer, and was quoted a rate I found to be a little high, $89.00.  The place was not full and it was a Thursday, and I would be staying Friday night as well....the desk clerk offered $79.00 and I agreed.

The rooms have been updated, has has the entire property.  However, I agree with Jonathan about the beds ~ hard, maybe even reconditioned mattresses, with the lumpiest pillows I've ever tried to sleep on!  The bathroom is fairly large, with a huge vanity area and one sink, but it's totally possible for 2 people to get ready at once.  The tub is a full tub, not just a shower, but the hot water seemed turned down VERY low and the pressure was subpar.  Lots of new, clean, fluffy white towels made me really happy, though!

The worst part of my visit was the AC unit.  It seems to have a govenor and turns on and off as it is set to do....NOT  a thermostat, a govenor.  You cannot set the temp or adjust the setting beyond HIGH or LOW.  I set it on HIGH and went to sleep.  I woke a couple hours later to a stuffy, warm room and an AC unit that would not respond to ANY setting.  It was 1:30AM.  I went down to the desk and the gentleman there escorted my back to the second floor, in pouring rain, only to tell me there was NOTHING wrong with the AC, that's just how the crappy thing operates....
He opened a room 2 doors down that was even warmer and more stale than the room I occupied, so I declined the move.  PLUS, it would have taken at least 30 mins to gather my stuff and get resituated ~ NO THANKS.

I called the desk at 9AM the following morning and was told they had credited my card $10 for my inconvenience.  I was exhausted, frustrated and almost angry.  I got very little rest and NO sleep that night.  I would have expected a COMP NIGHT,  at the very least.  I was offered a late check out of 1PM, which I politely turned down.  I was just ready to get the hell outta there.  I stayed elsewhere that night, lol!

The bar staff is fun, as David commented.  In fact, the owner's son greeted me at the bar on Thursday evening with a gratis drink ~ THAT was the highlight of my visit!

I'm not sure I'll go back, simply due to the shotty AC.  I HATE not to be able to control the temp in a hotel room, and I have to say, I travel ALOT and this was the first unit I'd ever seen like this.  It is a MOTEL setting, all rooms accessed by the parking lot, but it's in a nice area (one I'm very familiar with) and the pool area has been gussied up, so I can see how fun it would be out there on a nice day.  They even serve food, drinks and have live music out there now, along with private cabanas.  

Tahitian Inn is a mixed bag for me....!

We stayed here for a few days around Christmas. We picked it based on a good review from Fodor's 2002 Florida travel guide (10 years old, I know)...they said it was a solid, inexpensive hotel in a good location.

To sum it all up: if you like the motel experience where your door is on the outside of the building and you can pull up and park right in front of your room, and/or if you need a pet friendly place to stay, you will love this place. If, however, you are looking for standard amenities and you have come to expect a certain level of quality from the chain hotels, you can probably find a name brand hotel in the area for the same price or even a little less.

The check-in experience was organized, but the maintenance man came into the office and started having a conversation with the desk clerk right before we were finished, and I thought he could have waited until we left. We asked for a quiet room, and were given a room in the back of the motel, which was fine. However it looked like the maintenance guy was cleaning some kitchen equipment in the parking lot, fryer baskets or something like that were drying in the unused parking spaces. Kinda strange.

My husband loved that this was an old style motel where you park right in front of your room, so bringing in the luggage was easy. The floors were all tile, no carpet here. I understand this place allows pets, which is terrific...we will keep it in mind if we have to evacuate for a hurricane from the east coast. We saw a number of people with dogs staying at the motel.

We got a room with a king size bed as requested, and it looked nice, but the bed was extremely squeaky just getting in and out, or rolling over on your side, not from anything rambunctious. My feet got dirty from walking barefoot on the tile floor, so apparently the floor wasn't clean, and we wore socks in the room after that.

The motel was built in the 50's or 60's, and they have done a pretty good job of keeping it clean and updated, but the a/c unit was very LOUD. Like when it's off, you have the TV at one level, and when the a/c unit kicks on, you have to turn the TV way up to be able to hear it.

Our room could have joined the room next door, and we could easily hear the conversations of our neighbors through the closed/locked door between the rooms.

The TV was a nice flat screen. We watched a few cable movies in relative comfort.

The shampoo and conditioner they provided were so-so quality...I usually use the hotel shampoo and conditioner when we travel to cut down on packing bulk, and have a good experience most of the time. These were sub-par. And the motel only gave us one bar of soap: not one for the sink and one for the shower, just one total. We could have asked for another bar of soap of course, but it seems silly to just not provide it.

I was somewhat looking forward to having dinner at this place and maybe taking advantage of some spa services, but both the spa and the dinner restaurant were closed for the week so that the staff could have time off for Christmas. I'll be honest, I don't remember if the hotel told me that the spa and dinner restaurant would be closed during our stay when I called to make the reservation. The restaurant was open for breakfast and early lunch which was fine.

They boast about being the only motel in the country with a Chick-Fil-A on property. We don't care for Chick-Fil-A's owner's anti-gay comments, and we avoid Chick-Fil-A at all costs, so this is not a selling point for us.

We did use the WiFi, and that seemed to work. They seem to have a number of routers throughout the property, and no matter where we were we were able to get a good signal, and we appreciated that.

The location was terrific, close to the intersection of Dale Mabry and Kennedy (60). We sometimes like to just ramble around the cities we stay in, and we were in perfect position to do that from the Tahitian Inn. Short drive to the Florida Aquarium and the Channelside shops, two shopping malls, and the *very cool* Tampa Theater (on the national historic registry list). We like to walk, and the neighborhood behind the hotel was absolutely lovely (Swann Ave., Beach Park, houses on the canal, etc.) We had dinner one night at the Pelagia Trattoria which boasts Tampa's top chef for 2012, and that was amazing, and less than 3 miles from the motel. (It's in the Renaissance hotel near Neiman Marcus at the mall on Westshore.) Even though the motel is on Dale Mabry which is a main drag, we couldn't hear the traffic from our room.

When I checked my Expedia app on my phone to see what other hotels in the area were charging, I was shocked at how cheap they were. We paid $100 per night for the Tahitian, and we could have stayed at a Wyndham nearby for $70.

Love love love the Tahitian! I've stayed there 3 times now. My bf and I go to Tampa for a few Buccs games a year and this is the perfect place to stay. There were lotsof football fans staying there on Saturday night It's right near the stadium and has decently priced rates. The rooms are spacious with fridges and a microwave. There's a fun pool with a tiki bar and a restaurant inside.

Now when you reserve a room there is an option to pay like $10 more for 2 people to get breakfast. The options for this are limited but there's a bunch of yummy egg dishes.

Only downfall is that depending where your room is located, it can get pretty noisy so I suggest bringing ear plugs.

I was definitely a fan! Don't expect upscale, but rather a cute boutique hotel.Not sure what other reviewers are referring to as "a rough neighborhood." We had no problems, and everything was close by. We were greeted by an older gentleman when we checked in late (around midnight). He didn't really enjoy my joke about throwing the TV out the window, but was pleasant enough and helpful.

Rooms were clean, with a mini fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, and heat/AC. Again, not really sure what other people are referring to when they say the beds are "too firm." I thought they were perfect, and actually slept very well both nights we were there. The pool was clean and warm. Decent amount of pool-side seating and lounges. My boyfriend had a massage at their spa, and had only good things to say.

Overall, decently priced and a nice alternative to larger commercial chains.

Stayed for seven days.  Lived at this motel in 2002 for six weeks.  

The Good.  Felix at the front desk is conscientious and helpful.

Bed is comfy, clean room. Very hot water.   Fridge and microwave a nice plus.  Nice tiki bar and decent drinks provided they're not complex.  Great neighborhood with tons of great places to eat.  Pool area is nice, however see below.

Good precor treadmills in the fitness center.  

The Bad:  AC needs a fan that stays on.  The off/on all night long is a sleep disaster.  They did provide a fan, though, when I pointed out this problem.

The food is regrettably not great, especially for the price. You'll get a better breakfast at Starbucks a block away.  Head down Dale Mabry to Wright's Deli for great sandwiches.

They allow locals to come take over the pool area.  Not cool when you're a guest and you can't use the pool area.

Spa is WAY overpriced, especially for Tampa.

Maids and guests delight in slamming doors.  So bad that it cut short our stay.

Pool area.  I stayed here ten years ago and mosquitoes were a problem then as now.  For God's sake this is Florida, burn some citronella at night to keep them away.  I can't believe I'm telling people who live in Florida to control mosquitoes.  You will be eaten alive at the pool!

Pina Colada and daqaris are from a bottle, not fresh.  Truly bad.  Bartenders are very pleasant and can make a good cape cod.

Overall I would stay here Sunday thru Thurs.  On the weekends it's just too busy/loud and the pool area becomes party central with locals.

Not so great for business travelers, but it would be just fine for a cheap vacation weekend in Tampa. It's loud, old, and the internet is spotty. We asked for help to be able to work online with clients after each day, and it was always a mess.

However, if I were just coming to Tampa to visit friends, or needed a quick place to stay that was clean and local, this is not a bad choice.

This is a long review and I had to wait a week to write it before I could actually bring myself to write anything but expletives so bear with me...

My wife and I stayed there overnight along with my daughter and her husband for a wedding on Mothers Day weekend May 11th 2013 in 2 separate rooms.

The good: The rooms were nice for an older remodeled motel. They were very clean and had updated furniture and tile flooring, a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was large with a big vanity and mirror so we could both get in there at the same time even though there was only one sink. The pool was clean and nice, the Tiki Bar was fun and the drinks were pretty good for the few hours that we were there before the wedding and the next day before we left.

The bad: We were told by the bride to be that there was to be a group rate of $69 for the night we were going to be there. My wife made the reservation a couple of weeks before the wedding and we were quoted $79 on the phone as the "group rate". Oh well, I guessed because we were kind of late RSVP'ing and booking the room we figured that the group rate wasn't honored for the original $69 so we went ahead and booked it and they charged my card instantly. No biggie...

When we got to the motel I walked in and told the girl behind the desk we were here to check in and gave her my first and last name. Instantly she said--- "we don't have a reservation for you" with a little attitude. I proceeded to tell her that we had already been charged on my card and there must be a mistake to look again. She continued with her condescending attitude and said well we do actually  have a reservation you booked today "and stated my daughters name" and it would be $89." I need a credit card to pay for it "NOW"!. I of course said that's my daughter and not me so there must be a mistake. She proceeded to get more arrogant and argue with me about us not having a reservation and how they were completely booked up so we were SOL... I went outside to get the reservation number from my wife and she came back in with me to straighten things out. We gave her the reservation number and she said "WE DO NOT HAVE A RESERVATION FOR YOU!!!" The whole time the clerk was getting more and more obstinate and nasty with us. By then I was totally about to lose my cool and my wife was trying to make "nice" with the girl just to get us in our room.

The whole time the "Manager" was sitting in the office directly behind the front desk and said nothing while she played with her little white dog running around back there which I really didn't have a problem with the dog but her ignoring what was going on out front did irritate me even more.

Finally the manager walked out of the back and looked on the counter directly behind the Front Desk Clerk and said "here it is, we spelled you name wrong" and walked back into her office. I was thinking oh GREAT! Finally we were getting somewhere and I just want to get in our room and relax for a while by the pool and Tiki Bar before we had to leave for the wedding. The clerk says to me....  "Well, it will be $89 since you booked so late, the "group rate was only for rooms booked a month ahead of the wedding date so I need your credit card to pay for the room. I told her AGAIN WE HAD ALREADY PAID AND OUR CARD WAS CHARGED. By then I was so pissed off that I told her that I had traveled all over the world and had NEVER been treated like this by a Front Desk Clerk and I wanted to speak to the manager. She walked into in the office where the manager was and said "here she is and she ain't gonna do nothing for you, talk to the hand... She stuck her hand up in the air while her back was to us halfway into the back office. I BLEW UP!!!! My wife had to keep me from climbing over the front desk I was so pissed off.

FINALLY the manager walked back out and I said to her "are you going to let your employee talk to customers this way??? All she said to us was I am sorry, what was the original rate you were quoted? I told her the $69 rate and she said OK I will credit your card back for the difference. Gave us the keys and said she was sorry which it was WAY TO LATE for that. She didn't reprimand the front desk clerk or anything.  The whole time we were in there, we were the only ones in the lobby so I think she didn't care.

Final notes: I run my own business and I will tell you that if one of my employees EVER talked to a customer that way I would have fired them on the spot, comped the room, apologized like I meant it and asked if there was anything that I could do to make our stay better. She did none of that... $10 discount of which we should have already gotten begin with.

We went to the Tiki Bar and had about 6 drinks so I could calm down and went on to the wedding and had an awesome time. BTW, the air conditioner barely worked also but that was the least of my issues with this place! It is a shame they don't train the staff there. The place could be a really nice.

Stayed here for a night while visiting a friend. The lobby is gorgeous and has a real old school glamour feel to it. The staff was super helpful and our room was really clean. The furniture was comfortable, very Floridian. The bed was decently comfortable and the bathroom was very nice, although there were hairs on the shower floor from the previous occupant (my personal pet peeve). The pool was really cute and nice, but small. The property was nicely manicured and planted. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay and I'd come back if the price was right.

The Tahitian was not my choice, this was set up by my company. So I never even looked at the hotel until the cab pulled up to the front door. It looks pretty nice when you walk in the lobby, very old school luxury.
But the room couldn't suck enough dick! The bed was hard as a rock, the furniture was old and cheap. The work space was an old ass desk and the chair was just some old hard as chair.

If you're hunting for a dog-friendly hotel in Tampa that won't break the bank, then the Tahitian Inn may be your best bet.  The rooms themselves are streamlined and non-offensive, although the bathrooms will surround you in a ready-for-a-redo, baby blue tile haze.  We've stayed here twice, both times for a short visit, and it was fine.  Of course, fine is a four-letter word beginning with 'F'.  

If you are looking for a place to actually stay longer or have an 'experience', I'd look elsewhere.  However, when your utilitarian side kicks in, the Tahitian Inn will do just fine.

A solid motel if you need a night's sleep, and nothing more. Staff is universally friendly and this is run like a family establishment.

The bed wasn't soft. I suspect the mattress was filled with sedimentary rocks. The AC seemed to go on and off randomly and was very loud. The room was a little musty, but the bathroom was surprisingly large.

When I got here, I saw the Yankees win a playoff game that was started by AJ Burnett. So that's something special.

Terrible. Terrible. Customer service. Don't do breakfast here. Called first and was told t g st do offer a Sunday brunch. We were disappointed to find out they don't. We ended up ordering off the menu and three of our four orders were poorly done and delivered.

Needed a place close to Tampa General Hospital. Saw the reviews on Yelp and another site and gave them a chance. Glad we did. Was only about 3 miles from hospital and near a Trader Joe's and other restaurants.  Maybe not 5 star restaurants but worked for us. The hotel is clean and the pool area was very nice. They provided towels for the pool area and ice water so you don't have to bring your own. But with the Tiki Bar there no worry about being parched. The people working here were very friendly and saw there were alot of repeat visitors here. The first room was across from the laundry room and pool and the manager upgraded us to a room in the main section which was awesome. When we extended the stay we had to move to an outside room but far from the pool and laundry room. Only problem is the connecting door. There is a space that lets you hear the other room occupants if the a/c isn't running all the time. They happened to have bad smokers cough and hacked all night. Only problem was the a/c would run for 15 min at a time and cycle off and turn back on all night. Other than that I would definitely stay here again. The price was right and the people working there wonderful. They have a cafe on the premises which was nice.

Have stayed here before, must be under new management.  They are allowing college kids to book rooms which they turn into hotel parties.  Basically they cram 20 people in a room they stay up all night partying and then they sleep in shifts during the day.  While one group sleeps the remaining take up the entire pool area.  They are up until 630 am.  You call security they come they get quiet for 10 minutes and then they start again.  These kids bring dogs, they turn up the tv to hide the dog and then he cries all night.  Avoid this place on the weekends.  I usually bring my out of town guest here no more.  This place is not for families with kids or people who want quiet.  If you are under 24 and want party time this is the place for you.  I use to like this place now I hate this place.

Went here for a weekend and had a great time. The restaurant for breakfast might have had the best corn beef hash I have ever had. At nighttime there isn't a better place to be then their tiki bar and pool. Eddy is a great bartender and this place is a lot of fun if you like to party. Tons of locals so you know it's good. Don't judge it by the outside, the rooms were nice and clean. Great times!

Stayed here for a few days to just relax. The rooms were spacious and clean not to mention affordable. My favorite part was the pool with cabanas and the tiki bar. The bartender was friendly and fun which made for a really nice visit. Will stay here again :)

Lay back and enjoy the frosty adult beverages at the Tiki bar outback, once a hidden gem The Torch is now frequented by first timers, overly protective mothers and every so often the roided up patrons. Depending on  the time of your arrival you could run into all three.

On Friday and Saturdays this place can get pretty packed, both bartenders Eddie and Mike have been around for at least to years and always recognize their regulars. Many times we have seen a really mixed crowd here that is truly unique. Strong drinks and cold beers at prices that make you want to visit more often than you should.

Their Sunday brunch menu is standard and not all that good but they make up for it with their Bloody mary's and Mimosas. You can order food at the restaurant inside or out by the pool. They have hamburgers and hotdogs readily available poolside.

I have not stayed at the hotel to date but most recall the hotel due to one of the ditzy Kardashians missing some promo or even worse a Lohan(Lindsey's father) jumping from the balcony and getting arrested. Regardless it's one of my favorite around the house pools and I hope it stays moderately hidden.

Loved this place! The room was very clean, had a beachy feel. The only thing I didn't like was the old blue bathtub. Everything else was updated.

It was a bit chilly when we were visiting in January, but we still took advantage of the outdoor pool. Of course, we had it to ourselves due to the temps. I think it may have been heated. It appeared to have a tiki bar, though it was closed at the time of our visit. Would love to go back with it's a little warmer!

I also wish we would have taken advantage of the spa services. Unfortunately we were just too busy.

There's two parts of this hotel, the motel outside which are the budget rooms and the hotel inside which consist of the suites and upgraded rooms.

Honestly the rooms outside are much less quality than the suites. There's a two bed suite next to the pool, but I'm talking about the rooms outside that make up most of this boutique hotel.

The beds are hard and large, I'm not a fan of hard beds at all. That's my only complaint.

The rooms inside and for the two bed room suite are great. The prices aren't bad, if you find rooms on tripadvisor or kayak you can find great discounts.

Overall good experience.

Service was slow, servers were confused as to who was our waiter which caused several visits by separate servers with repeat inquiries.   When food did come out, plates came out nearly 15 minutes apart.  My over medium eggs were like water.  I didnt send them back because I wasnt sure when they might come out again.  Not the restraunt I remember.

They could really use some upgrades, it's extremely dated in style. I love the hard surface floors as opposed to carpet and the pool looked awesome (it was heated yet the weather was not accommodating). The price was great and close to many restaurants and the airport. The people next to us had a very loud barking dog (that relieved himself on the upper deck - inconsiderate pet owners). We called the front desk and they attempted to contact the owners immediately (we could hear the guests phone ring). The dog began to bark again multiple times and we called the front desk to let them know and they informed us the pet owners had just called back after they had left a message and were on their way to remedy the situation. We occasional heard the dog throughout the night but I feel the staff at the Tahitian did a great job in attempting to solve the problem. These guests hadn't informed the front desk they were housing a dog. You will always have the rude guests and that isn't their fault. With the minimal contact we had with the staff they were very accommodating and genuinely kind by making sure to greet and acknowledge each of us with a smile and simple "hello". It seems those little common courtesies seem to get overlooked, but not here! I would absolutely stay again!

Good value, nice interior to this motor lodge, light dimmers, comfy bed, great price..my disappointment were loud screeching , water splashing kids after 9 plm.

kids in the pool with inflatables. Ugh. Ruins the environment for all others without loud screaming kids...

Also in the morning was loud people outside my door. It could have been housekeepers, but I don't know for sure,

I liked the vintage bathroom tile , yellow tub.

Very clean. I was placed in 128 which was too close to the pool which attracts kids.

Tiki bar wasn't open when I stayed .

Overall I liked it.

No where near as nice as the pictures dictate however the room was clean, service was friendly and the price was good. My only real complaint would be the pool area. The chairs are falling apart and it smells like dog poo :\

I booked this hotel for the park and cruise package. The hotel is fine for the money I spent. It is showing its age but did seem clean. The room smelled fresh and the sheets snow white. Very happy with that. The bed in our room was really firm. We did spend some time in the bar by the pool and that was fantastic! Mike was the bartender and and I highly recommend visiting him if you choose to stay here. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and it was great. Stephanie was our waitress and her service was fantastic. I recommend the Cuban bread. Now the reason for the 2 stars. When I booked this hotel I specifically asked for the cruise pkg. Online it stated that you could park your car for up to 14 days and have shuttle service to and from the pier. I confirmed this with my reservation however once I arrived at the hotel I was told that I would need to get a taxi back to the hotel that there would be no shuttle back unless I stayed another night. When I questioned why and pulled up the information from their website the lady at the front desk said sorry but you will need to speak with the manager and she is not here. We also arrived at the hotel about 11:00 a.m. and check in was at 3:00. We had been on the road for 13 hours and was exhausted. We asked if there was anyway we could check in sooner and she was very rude and told us to check back in an hour. We did and continued to check back every hour on the hour as per her instructions and got to check in at 3:03. She could have just told us no early check in instead of having us hopeful every hour on the hour. Our experience would have been fine if not for the lady at the front. I will not stay here again because of how we were treated and the cruise pkg was not as described.

My wedding plans were lost, then remade, then lost again. Turning my wedding into a horrible night! Nothing promised was delivered.
To begin, I will say I waited a very long time to write this review. But it has taken this long for me not to burst into tears every time I think about my wedding at the Tahitian Inn. In February my husband and I put our down payment on the facility to have our wedding reception in the restaurant and patio. We gave this down payment to a women named Elisabeth. She quoted me a price that we agreed on and we planned the menu, decor, and seating arrangements.

One month before our reception (November 11, 2013) my now husband received a call from a women saying that she saw our wedding on a calendar but did not know who we were, if we had payed, and what we wanted. She told him we would have to come back to re-negotiate. He stormed down to the inn in a rampage and explained to her this was already taken care of. The story he was told was that Elisabeth quit AND TOOK ALL OF THE WEDDING PLANS FOR EVERYONE WITH HER. So apparently I am not alone in this nightmare. Next thing we know we have to send all of our correspondence to a women named Susie who is ''Kind enough'' to honor our price we were quoted. Up until a few days before the wedding she emails back and forth with me trying to figure out who sits where and who eats what. I send her a seating chart and explained each name plate is color coordinated to their dish choice.

Day of the wedding arrives. We go in an hour before (the time we are allowed) and the only person there IS A BAR TENDER! By the way seating chart is gone, entrees list gone! Also, we are told we can't have 6 to a table, at least 20 of my relatives are shoved in a booth in the back. Now my reception is AN HOUR behind. Now I find out my hors d'oeuvres are not being butlered...why? No staff. My salads are served before the hors d'oeuvres and when I say something the waitress begins TAKING THEM BACK FROM MY GUESTS! Also, I am gluten free and so is my best man (this was explained multiple times to Elisabeth and Susie), we get croutons! I ask for the salads to be taken back...they come back with the croutons picked out..still crumbs. Both of us get food poisoning that evening. Then when entrees are served no one gets what they ordered even though their name tag SAYS WHAT THEY ORDERED!
By now I am over it!

I will say the bartender (her name tag said ''Toots'') she was not meant to be a wedding planner and did as best she could. She gave me at least two hugs and many drinks to calm me down. I'm pretty sure she got tipped a significant at least 3 times by family.

That night after the fiasco is over my mother-in-laws air conditioner in her room goes out. She gives up and drives home. Oh yeah, one last thing- my husband payed the bill for the night, not my father as asked for...because of a ''credit card mix up''!

My wedding is ruined and it has taken me until now not to get sick to my stomach trying to tell my story. Not to mention when I filed a complained with BBB I got a letter blaiming it all on me.

Initially I was not impressed.  The room was musty and the TV and other stuff in the room were old.

Once I stepped outside, then I started changing opinion.  I met one of the owners Kyle.  He was polite and friendly.

The bartenders, Mike and Eddie were bleeping awesome.  They were friendly and took their time to know your name.

The pool area was nice and relaxing.

The food was tasty.  Any problem I had, it was dealt w/ instantly.

They had a party on a Monday and I meet Kyle's dad, Big Joe, his mom and the rest of the family.

The hotel is family owned since the 50's.  So it has a very homey feeling to it.

The check in process was painless

I didn't like I can't keep the A/C on all night.  It has the auto shutoff.

Suzanne inside was a sweetheart too.

My 3 year old LOVED the pool as it was very pleasant.  The drinks were nice at the bar and they have a daily happy hour.

I would update a few things in the room (TVs), but regardless, I will be back for the wonderful service I got.

Free wi-fi in the rooms.  Glenn the handyman was polite and friendly too.

I recommend if you want to relax and have a nice plesant atmosphere as you're treated like friends.

I will be back.

I was disappointed that this is not a Tahitian Inn and Spa as advertised. The photos are misleading. Although it is clean and the pool is nice. The rooms surround a parking lot. It is really a two story motel with some greenery. Although they do a good job of covering the sides of the pool with plants, it is in the middle of a parking lot. The bar tends to attract an upper twenties tattooed and cigarette smoking type. Very friendly, but it's no spa atmosphere.  The furniture, mattress, and bathrooms need updating. Not worth the price. Won't be back. Cafe more of a cafeteria. And they need to get rid of all the fake flowers!

I called to make my reservation and told them that I was going on a cruise and would be using their service to take my family to the port and leave my car there. She said that she would add me to the list for my particular day.

Upon check-in, I was told that the shuttle service was quite full. I mentioned that I previously had arranged it. I was told they could take us only at 9am. ok.. Does anyone know what is going on at a cruise terminal at 9am?? The previous guest are waking up and thinking about getting off the ship! Also at this time, 2 ladies behind the counter starting speaking in NOT ENGLISH. Let's see.. if I am the only other person around.. I would have to assume they are talking about ME! UGH!

After trying to sleep there.. which was nearly impossible because it's exterior coordinators and people running around and yelling all night and the a/c on and off all night...  we decide to go to the port on our own. What a waste of $135!

Once we were home from our trip, my daughter realized she left her glasses at this dump. So I called at 7pm on a Sunday night. Amber answered the phone and told me I needed to call back tomorrow after 9am and speak with housekeeping. So I did.. and Amber again answered the phone. This time, she took my name, number and other information and told me she'd call me back. Why on earth could she not have done that the night before??!! She did call me back and they did  have the glasses, which were mailed to me at my expense quite quickly. My other issue... if they cleaned my room...why couldn't they have the common sense to call my phone and say "we found glasses, are they yours"?

Terrible service. Terrible noise. Terrible a/c system and goes on and off all night long.
Find somewhere else to stay!!!

Loved this boutique style hotel!!! From the attention to detail in every aspect to the absolutely wonderful management team (special shoutout to Chandra who is an absolute charm in every way possible) I could not have felt more at welcome! The lobby was so open yet cozy which was great to walk into after traveling! Once we got checked in we grabbed our things and quickly got to our room(which was beautifully put together) it kind of reminded me of my first studio apt in Chicago...but wayyyyyy fancier! I loved how there was a kitchenette in the room as well. My boyfriend and I quickly settled in and went down to the Tiki Bar at the pool to relax after our adventurous day! The drinks were tasty with a punch and the lights around the pool were beautiful. They really captured a tropical island feel! The tiki bar closed slightly early, but the bar inside was still going strong so we continued our night there! The bartender was an absolute doll and had many stories to share with us...ask her for her signature version of a Mai Tai!! The next day we were craving adventure so we hopped in the car and went to Picnic Park Beach (only 10mins away) and it was the perfect beachy hideaway on a sunny 83° day! It's safe to say that I will definitely be back for the cozy comfortable stay next winter in Chicago....if not sooner!!! Don't forget the Mai Tais!!!! Cheers!

The Tahitian Inn has been around for 60 years, and I've been driving past it since the late 70's, paying little attention.  Sadly, it wasn't until the late 90's that I gained some historical respect for the place though.  I read a book about organized crime in Tampa titled "Cigar City" where some of the Tahitian Inn's checkered past came to light.  Shortly after, I heard about the legendary burger they serve up.  Well, 15 years or so later, I was finally in the Tahitian's vicinity and hungry.  

We walked into the restaurant hoping to sit at the bar, but there were no open seats, so we grabbed a table.  Susan, the bartender, immediately greeted us, took our drink orders and brought us some menus.  Nothing on tap, only bottles.  Not a big deal, so I ordered up a vodka tonic and Bud Light.  For food, we ordered the Bora Bora shrimp and a Tahitian burger to split.  The food came out quickly!  10 minutes max.  The shrimp was fantastic.  They were big, plump, lightly breaded and served up with a sweet chili dipping sauce (see Gigi S's pic).  Well played!  The burger was pretty big.  I'm guessing it was somewhere between quarter and half pound.  They slather butter on the bun halves and toast them on the grill.  So greasy.  So buttery.  So meaty.  I found it very reminiscent of the old bowling alley burgers I used to eat as a kid on MacDill AFB.  Simply delicious.  And you'll be surprised to know that they ground their own sirloin for the burgers.  

We then hit the Tiki bar outside next to the pool.  It was a nice and cool night, so the weather was perfect for a glass of Grand Marnier and some casual chatter.  Many of the reviews mention the bartenders by name, Mike and Eddy, but Eddy is gone and it's just Mike now.  FYI.  Anywho, maybe they need to hire Eddy back because Mike seemed a little overwhelmed.  Nice guy though.  Great conversationalist.  

Will definitely be returning.

Echoing previous reviewers - not a terrible place but not one that i would go out of my way to revisit.  The connecting door rooms should be avoided at all costs!! I know the strangers in the room next to me all too well after a week here.   Again, AVOID CONNECTING ROOMS.   You will hear every burp, fart and orgasm happening next door.

Thought this would be convenient with free shuttle service to and from airport and port. However the shuttle does not pick up after 9pm and you have to sign up for shuttle you may not get a spot on.

Our room was clean, however walking in white socks, you can tell they do not frequently mop.

We paid for two rooms for 5 people so we would have the convenience of two bathrooms. The shower handle came completely off and we had no running water to take showers. Of course we didn't realize this until the next morning an hour before checkout when we needed it the most. Their response was we should have called maintenance. It was our fault we didn't call. Even though I spoke to front desk an hour later.

First of all, I stay in a lot of hotels. It would have taken forever to get someone there and wouldn't leave us enough time to get ready. But they say it's OUR FAULT!!! They offered $20 for inconvenience. Slap in the face. I wouldn't have paid $130 on an additional room if I had known we would still have had one bathroom. I would have just paid for a cot. Such Bull!!!

Convenient, but old and do not take responsibility. Next time, I'll stay at a better hotel.

We had a very nice stay. The room was very large. All staff was very friendly. Nice bar with karaoke.  Only complaint is that the walls are thin when people walk by you can hear them talking like they're in your room.

We did not have a great experience, but when we talked to Chandra, the manager, she was very receptive and understanding. I hope the feedback provided is helpful for future improvements and I'd be open minded to trying them again, only because of the management team.

Staff was very nice, and to my enormous relief they have certain rooms where you can stay with your pets! Room was spacious but could not figure out how to use the TV remote and staff was polite but clueless. I was in an old part of the motel and had to unplug the hair dryer so I could charge my cell phone, and had to ask for a power strip so I could plug in my laptop. Overpriced and does not even include breakfast.

MOTEL!!  I'm not sure who rated this place as being great, they obviously didn't spend any time in their room and stayed at the tiki bar. I was SUPER disappointed that I stayed here instead of Aloft downtown  (was only $20 more) because I believed the good reviews that were written here on Yelp!!  

I will say check in was easy(although the guy who checked me in seemed socially awkward ) and the Tiki bar looked fun,  although I didn't go.  I wanted a place to stay while I got to tour Tampa.  The room was dark as hell inspite of the two cheap table lamps and one overhead light.

Those who rated this place as being nice are definitely not used to nice hotels -4 seasons,Ritz, Hilton.   To think I actually considered getting a massage here (before I saw the place).  The shower did Not work to top things off!

The only positive things:easy check in, although the place looks old as hell,it was super clean.

If you plan on spending time in the room for more than just sleeping or a place to crash after getting drunk at the tiki bar ...STAY FAR AWAY. .VERY FAR! !

It's easier to book a room at the W than it is here especially if your dealing with, I believe his name was Tye or Tai. He was HORRIBLE.
It is an incredibly noisy hotel. All hours of the night and day.
LOTS of kids running around on the weekends. If your looking for a spot to maybe relax or maybe get some sleep look elsewhere. Café is decent but was closed randomly. Cappuccino machine was broken and has been for several days now. And maids were knocking on the door at 8am.
The pool bartender was awesome and the blonde front desk lady was great until having to deal with the Tye guy(tall brunette) who claimed that the blonde woman who originally helped(and was amazing) me didn't know what she was doing and ended up taking 1hr 45min to book my room..

For the price and location, great deal. Service was amazing. Thw breakfast was great even though it's NOT COMPLIMENTARY, but the options are vast.
PLUS POINT: GYM & STEAM ROOM!!!
The room's TV is HDMI friendly and I enjoyed the stay :)
I stayed to take an exam in Tampa and slept WONDERFULLY :)
