Stayed there for work related reasons and I wish my company selected another hotel. This Hilton seems to lack any incentives for their HHonors members, unlike other Hilton's. Recommend you stay elsewhere, because the bar is over priced, the restaurant isn't very good, and the shuttle service is absolutely horrible (waited of 40min); however the staff is friendly and the hotel is well maintained.

Decent hotel, nice lobby and rooms are clean and updated. Location isn't too great unless you need something close to the airport.

this place needs a renovation. the bathrooms are smaller then the airplane i travelled in on. ( you cant use the facilities or get in the shower with the door anything but completely closed.

they also have an annoying " no setting less then 72degrees on the AC... as we all know in a hotel the ac isnt usually as tuned up as it should be, this made for a somewhat hot room. I would recommend you stay closer to the airport 1 mile away at the hilton garden inn.

The ONLY reason this place even gets one star is because it doesn't give you an option for ZERO.

I had an awful impression of this hotel since the moment I landed in Tampa and called the shuttle service to come to the airport. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and I could tell that my phone call was an extreme inconvenience to her, as was sending the driver. I shrugged that off to someone having a bad day. Completely unnecessary to treat a guest that way though! The driver came and he was wonderful!! Very polite and gave me suggestions for things to do & places to eat in the area.

When I made the reservation about 5 months prior I called to be sure that the shuttle went to the convention center. The front desk person (I assume) who answered asked me if my stay was for a specific (and VERY large) conference that was in town for the weekend. She told me that they would shuttle us just to and from the center. GREAT! Booked it!

After checking in I called down and ask for the shuttle when I was informed the indeed did NOT provide that service for anything above "2-3 miles". Clear cut, huh? And the person who told me that they would be doing so for the conference? Well, clearly I must have just made that up. The manager "Did not know where I'd gotten such a thing!" Wow....Grrrrr! So $200 in cab fares later for the weekend I was frustrated but again, trying to chalk it up to someone possibly being new, or maybe that was the plan and then they realized that the conference was so large and decided against it? Regardless, out $200....sucky, but what do you do? : / The last day of the conference we called the front desk and asked for a cab (as we had been doing all weekend) and when they arrived, the person at the front desk informed us they were here. About 1/2 way to the convention center the man informs us that he is NOT a cab driver, he is a private driver and that it was going to be $60. Yes, $60 for a 5 mile trip!! I called the hotel and it took me all day and 4 phone calls and finally just insisting that I speak to a manager, who was then insistent that it wasn't their problem and they do not set taxi rates. I told him I understood that but 1st of all - They were not upfront about the transportation provided. I would NEVER have booked there if I had known that. And when I call the front desk and ask for a taxi, thats what I'd like!! NOT a "private driver" whom your hotel has a contract with (straight from the mouth of the driver. They refused to do anything for us - even take us to the airport where they'd obviously be picking people up anyway! Another group of people staying in the hotel informed us then, that the night drivers would take them anywhere they wanted and indeed did take them to the convention center the night prior. I was absolutely floored at the complete disregard for customer service at this hotel!

I only wish it ended there -  I accidentally left 2 (quite expensive) dresses hanging in the closet of my room. I called 3 days in a row and kept getting passed to lost and found and to housekeeping who "could not find them." I knew this would turn out poorly based on my experience. :( Alas, they have looked everywhere and do not have the dresses. Obviously, they jumped off of the hanger and walked themselves straight out of that hotel. My fault for leaving them - Yes. Let me pay for you to ship them to me. But unless those dresses were worth a lot more than I thought (because they have magical disappearing capabilities) then someone is lying. And stealing.

I will NEVER stay at this or any other Hilton again.

Meehhh....the hotel is nice, but nothing to rave about. The room is nice, but at night, the light from the hallway shines right through the huge gap under the door!
The entire reason for having black out curtains is to block out LIGHT...I shouldn't have to worry about the door too.
Another thing that irritated us, was the next day, we wanted to take the shuttle that the hotel provides for free, over to the Raymond James Stadium.
The guy told us that he would drop us off there...AT the stadium. We were dropped off at the corner of Dale Mabry and Columbus while waiting at a red light!! And we had to WALK the rest of the way. I'd say a good few blocks for sure. He only drove us about a mile down the street. Not even NEAR the stadium!!
When someone says they'll drop you off AT the stadium, I didn't think I'd still have to walk a couple of blocks to my destination. The whole point of taking a shuttle is to get there. VERY disappointing for sure.
Next time we need a place to stay before a game, we will not be staying here. What's the point? We would still have to drive our own car if we don't want to walk. I'm not sure they know what a shuttle service means. It wasn't worth it.

Accommodations were decent. Service here was so-so; calling the front desk took several tries, like 7 rings each time.

Location is really close to the shopping mall and several restaurants. Downtown is a little bit of a drive, but still not too far. The food in the executive club lounge is pretty tasty...I just wish alcoholic drinks were also complimentary, but the closet lush in me digresses.

If you're staying in Tampa, I would recommend heading to the Ybor District. It's an older part of town, but has great food and, if you're not by yourself, good for a mini-stroll.

A couple of coworkers had stories of how thin the walls were and how freaky their neighbors got...I mean REALLY freaky...soooo if you want to get it on, this seems like the spot to do it!

Friendly Staff. Excellent service.

The guy driving the shuttle bus was super nice and even offered to drive my group around since we had some time to kill before our flight. Shuttle service was complimentary so I'm not sure why ppl complain since it is free and if they didn't want to wait so long,,, might as well take a cab. Shuttle bus came within 20 minutes since the guy makes rounds. Overall, I had a pleasant stay :)

The room was fine. They had no breakfast included, which is rare. What's worse, they don't even have coffee in the lobby. They direct you to the on site restaurant for a $3 cup of coffee and a $15.50 breakfast buffet. As a budget option you could get a $7 bowl of oatmeal. Personally, I'm speaking with my wallet and just going without. Hey Hilton, for what you're charging, throw in some coffee.

I will never return to this Hilton.

a) Had to argue with front desk when checking in on my HHonors status.  I just wanted the free WiFi and Breakfast.  First desk clerk would not double check for me, the 2nd clerk came to help argue with me. (I got lucky, she received a text message on her cell phone, so she left)
I had to bring out 2 receipts from prior Hilton stays in the last week that show me as Gold level.   I finally convinced the clerks, but they only gave excuses, never apologies.
b) Woke up the first morning and looked out the window.  Was surprised that Tampa is very foggy in the morning.  Realized about 5 minutes later, that is not fog outside, it is just a very dirty window.
c) My door would not close unless you held the indoor handle down, then held the outside handle.  Then the latch would release enough to close the door.  If you do not do this, the door just bangs against the door jam.

I was at this property a few years ago, and had a very nice stay.  This time. NOT SO MUCH!

It ok, Hilton has other properties in the area.

Avoid this one if at all possible!!

UPDATE:
I received a phone call from the GM of the Tampa Airport Hilton Property.

She had many questions about who I interacted with, and what should be done better at the Hotel.

She sounded concerned and going to try and improve the customer service at this hotel.

Due to this, raising my rating up to 3.

For all of the times that Priceline's "Name Your Price" has yielded discounts, upgrades, unicorns and butterflies I guess it only made sense that as some point I'd just break even.

I think the Tampa Airport Hilton Westshore was that gesture.

As I watched the web page load, I was thinking "Big bucks, big bucks, noooo whammies!" And while I wouldn't go as far as to call this hotel a whammy, it was definitely not a big bucks winner.

Everything about this hotel is pretty basic and has that feeling of low budget, corporate conferences. The lobby is incredibly simple with just a few seats to lounge and an adjacent bar encompassing the same, uninspiring vibe. No real atmosphere or personality exists.

I read in a few reviews that it was nearly impossible to get someone on the other line if you attempt to call the front desk from your room. I definitely experienced that the twice, at peak and non-peak hours. When I did get someone on the line, they were incredibly pleasant and helpful, so perhaps they are just understaffed?

Like the rest of the hotel, my room was generic and my bed wasn't that soft. No views, no redeeming features. Just a safe place to lay your head and shower at night essentially.

The International Mall is just a short walk from here, so that's a bonus! Unfortunately, that may be the only bonus I can think of.

For the price of this hotel, you're better off looking elsewhere. However if you must stay here, keep your expectations pretty low and you'll be a-ok.

Booked my hotel room 2 months in advance. Called today at 2pm to confirm room and tell them I was arriving late. They said no problem. Landed at airport at 7pm and called to confirm again and they said come on over we're ready. Showed up and they said they had a problem with my room and were sold out and offered me a room with no bed just a pullout couch. And they would be so kind as to discount my room since I had no real bed. Come on guys...a pullout couch for $99! The guy Chris was actually very nice and professional but I'm pretty sure I got bumped for a higher level Hilton Honors member. Next time just relocate me and call me in advance. Don't wait for me to show up and offer me a pullout couch! Chris was great though and even offered me a drink voucher. Just unimpressed with Hilton.

My experience here was perfectly fine and I would probably come back again.

I only stayed here for one night, so that's what my review is based on.
This hotel is super-close to the airport, so it's very convenient.  I was initially worried that the I would be able to hear the airplanes, due to the proximity, but the hotel was nice and quiet all night long.  The hotel is clean and the staff is nice.

Overall, I've become a big fan of the Hilton's bedding, that usually makes for a good night's sleep.

The breakfast buffet was tasty and since I'm a Hilton Honors member, they offered a complimentary breakfast.

I got our corporate rate, so I can't really judge if the regular price is within reason.

Again, I had no complaints and would recommend this to any business traveler needing to stay close to the airport.

Very no thrills place.

Staff (three front desk members) treated me like an unexpected guest- like I might touch something and get it dirty. What makes me spitting mad was the fact that I asked two different front desk personnel what time the bar closes on two different days what time the bar closes. 10PM the first time I asked and was told 11 PM the second time two days later, both precisely an hour before I was asking. Checked the guide- it's supposed to be midnight.

Trim in the room had chipped paint. Housekeeping did a pretty decent job, although I only got two things of conditioner every day for a week, never shampoo.

The room service guy was very attentive, but laid it on very thick. Really tried to earn the added 21% gratuity and $5 room service charge. Calls the room phone each time to see if you enjoyed your meal-  I could have done without that.

Internet speeds are limited at 3mbps down 1.5 up.

Two weeks ago, I made a reservation over the phone to stay four nights at this hotel. Soon after I received an email that went to my spam folder and was not discovered until today, that my reservation has been cancelled due to an error in the booking. I received no phone call to notify me, and had I not been checking my spam folder for something else I never would have seen the email. I would have shown up and been stuck without a room at the last minute. The error was in a discount code I used, but was accepted over the phone with no issue. Apparently they came back later and decided that the code was used in error and completely canceled my reservation. I've never had this experience at any hotel before and they offered me no reasonable alternative. I do not understand how a code is working and accepted during the reservation and then rejected later. It is completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

Be wary of staying here, as your reservation cannot be guaranteed and may be cancelled with little to no notification.

Pros = clean, close to the airport, friendly staff
Cons = few amenities, gift shop was not opened during it's normal business hours and had a "we'll be right back" sign on the door when I stopped by.  There is no where to go shop/eat within walking distance of hotel, food/drink options are extremely limited to their hotel restaurant (which wasn't open during the afternoon hours), bar (which had no one tending the bar on the three occasions that I stopped by -- looking for food, not alcohol.  Although at that point, I needed some alcohol too.

I finally gave in and ordered room service for lunch.  Got the hummus and the veggie quesadilla.  The food was about a 5 on a scale of 1-10. And it was a bit on the greasy side.  Worse part was the price -- at a whopping $25 for the 2 appetizers (because it includes the room service fee, tax, tip .... tag and title....).  What starts off as $7 per dish quickly adds up when you order room service -- but that's most everywhere.  I wouldn't mind except for the lack of choices which meant I was stuck with the room service.

This hotel is probably best utilized for the business traveler who stays 1 night.  I wouldn't otherwise recommend it, despite the Hilton name, for a stay in Tampa.

This Hilton was just ok.  I expect a Hilton be be a little nicer than this and have a better restaurant than Coconuts, but there really isn't anything wrong with the hotel.  I stayed at this property because it was cheaper than the Hampton I usually stay at down the street.  I would have no issue with returning to this hotel.  Just keep in mind it's not one of the fancier Hiltons.

The Tampa Hilton was a very nice hotel.  Check-in was a breeze and my room was clean and updated, so I couldn't ask for more.
I liked that parking was free and easy as well.

The fitness center was decent and clean.  They had a few different cardio machines, but I imagine that it get full quickly since it's not too large.

Great place for a business traveler and not too far from the airport and conveniently located to several good restaurant options.

I'm a consultant for a local company, so I find myself staying in many of the hotels around the area. I stayed at this hotel twice before I decided to call it quits. First off, both of the rooms i stayed in had ants. Secondly, both of the rooms were EXTREMELY humid/muggy. It was almost as if the ventilation system just stopped working. This not only made the room smell bad, but it was uncomfortable to sleep in. Thirdly, they told me they were doing repairs to all of the bathrooms in the hotel and that they started from the main floor up. When i asked them to put me in a room with a renovated bathroom, they put me in a room with a bath insert that wasnt glued all the way to the tub. I would walk from one part of the tub to another, and i could hear the insert moving. The poor ventilation system also caused mold to form around the tiles. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. If you like Hiltons, stay at the Hilton Garden Inn down the road.

I stayed at the Tampa Airport Hilton Westshore over July 4th weekend and chose it because of its rate and location.

Speaking of the location, there's a lot nearby. There's Lee Roy Selmon's across the street, and the big International Plaza mall is practically next door. Dale Mabry Highway, with its abundance of strip clubs, is pretty much right around the corner if that's your thing.

My room was O.K..... I was satisfied with the comfort of the bedding, the climate control, and the bathroom. There was also a refrigerator tucked under the TV.  Wi-Fi in the room was complimentary.

I had room service several times for dinner and for breakfast and service was prompt and courteous. The food was also very, very good.

As you'll find in most hotels of this type, you'll hear a lot of what's going on around you in the adjoining rooms, plus stuff going on in the hallways. No shock there. The teenagers staying in the room across the hall started to drive me crazy with their almost incessant coming in/out and wandering/hanging out in the hall, but no biggie. I suspect that this hotel might be a little more sedate during the business week?

Overall, this is a really nice place and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again based on its amenities and location especially.

I expected better... I went to this hotel for a convention. The room was ok it needs a facelift the furniture looks old and the bathroom feels like a gas station bathroom and the worst part is that our room was a none smoking room but smelled like a dar bar was very gross! I wouldn't stay again.

We started here for a week while on vacation. Traveling with kids can be interesting. To say the least. But the staff made the hotel portion of our trip a pleasure. They were accommodating and kind. The room was clean and updated. The business center in the lobby was updated as well. A nice surprise to be able to print boarding passes and amusement park tickets. We were very pleased and will definitely stay here again.

I stayed here one night while in Tampa for business. I probably won't stay here again. With so many options for places to stay there is just nothing that makes this hotel stand out. The neighborhood didn't look very good, which is a big disappointment, since I'm the kind of person that likes to go out and explore. This was a stay in and watch TV night for me.

I was on the 4th floor and hot water was an issue... it took a while for the shower to heat up and then the hot water would cut off and on at random. I finally gave up and took a bath because it was the only way to achieve a decent lukewarm temperature. Cold showers are not my thing. My coworkers staying on the same floor had the same complaints.

The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. But really, just nothing special. Very disappointing for a Hilton, I would expect better.

I recently stayed here for a convention. Even though it was busy, check in was earlier than I expected it to be. They had us in a room by 1:30. I was placed on the first floor and was skeptical about it, but it was the room that was ready. I had friends staying and they were angle to get a room a few doors down from us, too.

As soon as we walked in, our room smelled like stale cigarettes. I didn't understand why since it's a non-smoking room. Our friends later pointed out why. From their room, you could see that the rooms on that side were against the outside smoking area. It would probably be a good idea to move that.

Our friends ordered a pizza from room service. It didn't look all that big, cost them $15 with a $3 service charge and then they threw in a tip. So basically $20. Needless to say, they went to Burger King a couple of hours later to really eat.

The pool area was clean, but a ton of smokers were there. We sat out there for only about 20 minutes because the smoke got to be too much.

Overall and ok stay, but overpriced. I wouldn't stay again if it wasn't for the convention being there.

This was the first time I have ever experienced being "walked"; meaning they did not have a room for me after I pre paid in full. So not only are all the other local hotels sold out they wanted to put me up at a less then reputable no name hotel and tell me it was comparable.

So the next available room for me was in Clearwater. At midnight this was frustrating and not what I was expecting. Especially that I had planned for meetings there that next morning.

I was not given or offered anything other than "we will pay for your room". ExI can pay for my own room it's what they didn't do which was of dieting something above and beyond what my intent to stay anyway was. Free Night? A Dinner Gift Card, Nothing.

Now a 20 min cab ride and a jaunt to another Hilton property at 1am after a 14 hour day and flight from Chicago was not what I wanted. All because they oversold the hotel.

Pretty unreal if you ask me.

I will never stay here again.

First of all, I choose this hotel for its proximity to a client.  I booked the room on line and then called to get my clients room rate.  The front desk person said she couldn't help me but would have the sales agent call me back.  Well, the never did.

Then I get here and go up to my room to find the water isn't working in the room they gave me.  I call the desk and they say to leave it on for a few minutes.  Wow, I'm now the maintenance guys for Hilton.  Shouldn't they make sure a room is ready for a guest before giving it to me?

So, I let it run a few minutes and nothing comes out.  I then call the front desk and it rings for five minutes before someone picks up.  By now I'm very "put- out" and frustrated.  They move me fairly quickly and give me free breakfast (which hotels at half this price already do so for free)

I should have checked Yelp first and I would NOT have stayed here after reading the other poor reviews first.  I certainly won't stay here again and will tell my client (one of the biggest firms in the city) about the bad experience

There is a lot of hit and miss, seen with prior reviews. Overall, good people running a dated hotel. I stayed here a total of 12 days over two visits in 2015. I had previously stayed at the Renaissance at International, putting in 51 nights there. However, I'm a Hilton person and needed a change. I'm also a business traveler across the country and felt some reviews were overly harsh. Also note that the hotel did go through renovations since many of the reviews, and was still undergoing additional work in early 2015.

There are benefits here. It is within very close walking distance to many restaurants: Lee Roy Selmon's, Del Frisco's, Kona Grill, Cooper's Hawk, Texas de Brazil, Flemings, and Roy's. It was quite convenient to book a table at Flemings 15 minutes out and then take a 5 minute walk over.  The International Plaza was a $5 Uber ride away for Ocean's Prime and other restaurants there. Being on the South side of West Kennedy meant quicker driving access to additional restaurants without the large inconvenience of crossing that street.

The hotel bar is decent sized, but does get a bit full when a conference is in session. The alcohol variety was lacking, but the food was better than I expected. The rare-grilled ahi tuna sandwich was delicious. The executive lounge was the typical fare but with nice additions: a jar of jelly beans, regular fruit, and other items that weren't at the Renaissance. The pool and tennis courts are a nice benefit as well.

On the North side, the view is awesome. You can see bits of the private aircraft wing of TPA and the stadium (see panoramic photo I uploaded).

My first stay here was not so pleasant. The window wouldn't close completely but maintenance came up within 15 minutes to force it closed. There were regular hot water issues, as others had noted. Some days there was very little pressure and two of the twelve days had very little hot water.  I brought these issues up with management after my stay and received a quick response from the front desk manager, Brian. I had difficulty getting answers from housekeeping on an issue, but after meeting with Brian upon my next stay, he immediately took care of them. Being a business traveler, I turned down offers of free drinks and food in compensation.

The gym was a bit small, but I felt it was appropriate for the size of the hotel. Even at 0600-0630 I never hit a line, although the ellipticals were often taken.

My second stay went quite well, which is to say it was without incident. In reading some other reviews, some were overly critical of the hotel over small issues here and there. It's a small hotel, dated, but overall not bad. I'd stay here again (and will).
