what can i say - i stayed here for four nights during a conference for work and actually enjoyed the room and amenities.    Get a room with a balcony overlooking the harbor and pool for sure.  My only complaint is that housekeeping left me with only decaf coffee 2 days in a row! Grrr - girl had to drag her butt down to the lobby to get her hot steamy drug!

The hotel room was very nice and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and my bay view was very nice and calming. I was there for a trade show and I was able to get a nice comfortable rest every night.
The hotel is across the street from the convention center which makes it very convenient.

They also have a nice spa where you can get facials, etc. Unfortunately I did not try it but their prices looked reasonable. $95-$110 for facials.  They also have a nice terrace where one can sit and read next to the bay.

Over all very pleasant experience.  Nice and professional staff. You have to valet the car though and its $18/night.

Got a great deal for $73 per night over labor day weekend and was happy to see that the rooms were very clean.   They do not have wireless available in the hotel rooms and internet costs $15 a day which is steep.  There is no parking nearby (a total of four metered spots down the street that are always full) so you will most likely get stuck parking in the garage or valeting which also adds to the bill.  Otherwise, I was happy with the stay.  Wish I could have gone to see the pool but ran out of time.

I stayed here for two nights on business recently and knew it was going to be a great stay right when I walked in. The lobby is huge and was pretty busy everyday I was there. A lot of business people stay here because of the Convention Center being located right across the street. Its right in the middle of downtown Tampa and I could see the Tampa Bay Lightening's Arena from my balcony. Its a short ten minute walk to Channelside, which is full of restaurants and bars.

The room great and the bedding was so comfortable. Plenty of room in the actual room and a spacious bathroom made getting around easy. Wireless internet was free and worked great the whole time I was there so that made working a lot easier.

There are several restaurants in the hotel but I went to Champions, a sports bar/restaurant attached to the lobby, both nights. Plenty of big screens, classic American food, and a bar made watching March Madness great.

Despite being downtown, the water, the great views, and the lights at night make staying at the Marriott quite peaceful.

This is a beautiful luxury hotel, next to the Tampa Convention Center which did a wonderful job recently of accomodating our group of approximately 800 attendees.  The rooms were very large with extremely comfortable bedding and great bathrooms.  My room on the 22nd floor had a spectacular bay view.

The Lobby Bar was a great meeting place in the evening after our
daytime lectures ended and it certainly was lively with our group!

We had a casual dinner one evening at Cafe Waterside and all of our choices - a wide range - were excellent.  The continental breakfasts,
two lunches and afternoon snacks ( wonderful brownies and cookies and ice cream sundaes one day ) done by the catering department for our huge group were also very good!

I love this hotel! First, it is in a great location in downtown Tampa. I stayed here first for my birthday since plans were to eat at Jackson's Bistro and Channelside. Great location to both places! The hotel is wonderful, beautiful, and clean. My favorite part? The bed! The bed is soo comfy and the linens are a delight. I wanted to purchase the down comforter for my own bed!  It's funny bc I remember telling my fiance "I want this bed!" and on the nightstand there was a hotel book with information on how much their bedding can be purchase for! lol So I bet they get a lot of people complimenting their bedding. Overall, it is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at and I look forward to staying here soon even though I live in Tampa!!

Very clean hotel in a great area of town.  The front desk staff was accommodating in granting our request for early check-in as well as some basic upgrades.  The lobby bar is a cool spot to have a couple before heading out.

While I didn't stay here I had a large number of meetings over several days. I was pleasantly impressed with the meeting spaces.  They were clean, well ventilated and quick to respond to any changes in requirement (such as needing more chairs). Furthermore the close proximity to the convention center made this an excellent supplemental meeting environment.

I stayed at this Hotel for one week and I did not like it as much as the Marriott Westshore that I spent the rest of my time in Tampa at.  It is much bigger and it has a much colder feel to it.  The views are better but there is a charge for parking (valet) and there is a limited number of restaurants within walking distance.

The workout facility is large and has 50 lbs dumbbells.

I ended up changing hotels only because I found out that another project had already negotiated a better rate at the Westshore.   Maybe if I had stayed longer I would have warmed up to it.

Stayed here for a work conference. Beautiful hotel. I heard not so great reviews on the Il Terrezio restaurant on site, but the bar food was great! Had a positive spa experience as well. Would definitely stay here again...but only if it was work related; not hurrying to Tampa at my own freewill anytime soon.

This is a beautiful hotel. The views are great and the amenities made me feel pampered. I enjoyed the free wi-fi in the lobby as much as other reviewers.

I thought the cleaning service could have been better. When we came in there were used glasses from the previous stay.

I caught the breakfast buffet in the downstairs restaurant because I was in a hurry. I thought it was a pretty choice buffet. Lot of fresh fruit. The food tends to look sad at a lot of places.

Also--if you miss your gym membership, the workout room here is pretty nice.

Beautiful hotel lobby complete with palm trees and marble floors.  Our room seemed a little cramped after staying at the new Hyatt in Clearwater.  The front desk was nice enough to get us a water channel view, which was nice.  Right across the street from the TECO Line Streetcar System.  Plus, they have a Starbucks in the lobby.

I was here about two years ago for a conference with many many many other college and post-doc students.  After arriving, we were promptly checked in and dropped off our luggage.  The beds were huge and comfy.  I think they have some of the most comfortable pillows I have slept on.  My room did not have great view so I was usually in my bf's room which had a balcony facing the waterfront.
We were right across the street from the convention center so it was real convient to wake up late, rush out, and still manage to be at a meeting only 2-3 minutes late.  The trolley to Ybor city and other things were also just across the street.  Our group ended up going to the aquarium and spent some time there.  On our last day, we were lucky enough to attend Guava-ween in Ybor city and that was CRAZYYYYYY?!  I've never seen anything like it but it definitely added to the trip memories.

Had the pleasure of staying here for a 4 day conference.  Was really impressed by the property.  Situated perfectly right across from the Convention Center, this hotel really shines.  Upon entering, one encounters a beautiful spacious lobby.  Nicely adorned with furniture and pictures, beautiful tile floor, and a spacious view all the way through the windows to the river, it is impressive.  Handsome wood paneling all over.

Nice check in counter to the right, along with nearby concierge. Center lobby had many private areas that were really comfortable. To the rear, a nice bar that also served appetizers and light food fare.  To the left, Champions, a sports bar with many wide screen tv's blazing, handsome bar and lots of sports memorabilia. Menu was basis sports bar flavored. In the far right hand corner, was their upscale Italian restaurant.  Had lunch there, and food and service was exceptional.

Rooms were classic Marriott.  Clean and well adorned. Nice hardwood business desk with all the items ones needs to conduct business away from home. Great views of the city and the bay from the higher floor rooms.

Pool was very unique and quite a stunning sight at night when lit up.  See picture to see what I mean.

Conference rooms on the second level were spacious and clean.  Wonderful long and spacious lobby accompanied the many different rooms.  Several seating areas along the windows with the view of the river and the luxury sports boats and yachts. Nice touch, for sure.

The Marriott Riverside in Tampa is a premier property. Your stay there will be very accommodating and enjoyable.

Two stars is generous.

My room (rack rate $550 plus another $15 if you want internet service) was so nasty that I spent an hour cleaning it myself -- yuck -- and delivered the filthy washrag to the manager, who could not be bothered to call me back.

Three of us wanted to sit outside for dinner at Il Terrazzo (um, "the terrace").  Too much to ask.  One party was outside, but "that was a reservation."

Worst of all, upon check in, one of my colleagues got a key to someone else's room.

Also, be apprised that there is no good food or shopping within walking distance.

I must begin by saying I'm a Marriott Gold Elite member whom stayed there for five days with points.
Having presented that disclaimer, I must say I couldn't have been more pleased.  We were upgraded to a luxury suite which was incredible.  It spoiled me for the more mundane hotels I usually visit.
Housekeepers were exceptional.  All staff went out of their way to make the visit a joy.
Location is exceptional.  Pool is spacious and clean.  Tends to be crowded on Saturdays.  Right by the Riverwalk so we walked everyday. The exercise room is great, but we wanted to be outside.
The biggest negative is not the hotels fault.  A restaurant across the bay has LOUD live music on weekends until 2:00AM.  Sound echoes off water...a lot!  Unable to sleep until after closing.
Wine prices were about double general retail.  Solved that problem when we discovered there is a Publix grocery about half mile away.
All things considered, the best vacation we've had in many years.  We'll go back!

Whenever possible Marriotts are my hotel of choice because they rarely ever disappoint. This one was no exception. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, the hallways were quiet. All in all, considering I was staying there to take the Florida Bar, which was in and of itself an awful experience, staying at the Marriott made the experience tolerable. The only complaint I have is that it would have been nice to have free WiFi. The $15/per day for Internet was a bit much considering how much you are already paying for a room.  However, the fact that the bartender at the lobby bar knew how to make a French Martini (not all bartenders do) made up for the lack of free WiFi.

I really like this hotel, but I feel that it is overpriced.  The do a wonderful job of keeping the hotel clean and updated.  Champion's Sports bar is a good place to watch games and has decent food.  You can't beat the location, but don't expect a good room rate.

I've stayed here twice for conferences, and I don't know how much they charge but the sign on the door says "up to $800/night", so it can't be cheap.

The last time I stayed here it was the last straw.  I got off the plane, jet-lagged from flying across the country, and decided I'd take a nap before the conference.  Apparently, two people from housekeeping thought that a good place to have a screaming match was right outside the door marked "Do Not Disturb".

Ok, fine, you got me up.  Maybe I'll use the Wifi.  $15/day.  Seriously?  I pay $30/month for internet, and they think their Wifi's worth $15/day?  Holiday Inn gives free wifi.  Starbucks gives free wifi.  If you want to send e-mails from your room, that'll be $15/day.  Fine, whatever.  Buy it.  Once you get it, you'll learn that for $15/day they provide you with an outrageously slow connection that you can't even access from all parts of the hotel!

If you do end up here for a conference, and you decide you want the Wifi, my advice is this:  Find some friends, then clone your MAC address across all of your laptops.  Then, all of you can use the in-room Wifi for the price of one.

Humidity and comic book heros.

And that was just on day one.

I am good with heat.  I mean, I have survived Sacramento summers at 114 degrees but that's in 0-4% humidity.

At 99 degrees with 40% humidity, I start to literally melt.

The only thing that lifted my spirits were the uber geeks participating in a comic book convention.  I mean, the dude dressed in a full blown GI Joe / Snake eyes outfit in that heat was a sight.

Not so much for the outfit itself, but for the fact that he was about 200 lbs overweight.

Ahhh, Florida, you never disappoint.

Keep up the good work.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend getaway trip to Tampa and enjoyed myself. The hotel is very nice with a great view. Also in a convenient location. It was a very busy weekend though and with valet parking being your only option it can be a hassle to get in and out if you have a car. But the pool area is very nice with a bar area to order drinks. Great gym on site. Nice sports bar restaurant with pretty decent food and another Italian restaurant that I didnt try. Convenient bar in the lobby and nice areas to sit and relax. Wifi is also only free in the lobby ($15/day from your room). But the hotel rooms were very clean, well lit and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and prompt when I needed anything. Overall great bonus to a great trip for me and my family! I'd recommend it if you're looking to stay in the Tampa area.

I recently stayed here for two nights and it was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed at. On top of the cleanliness the staff were super friendly, and the hallways were never loud so my sleep was never interrupted. Before booking the main thing to know is this: it's right smack in the middle of downtown tampa, right behind the st pete forum & very close to channel side, that being said.. traffic is a nuisance and parking is very near impossible to find on your own. The only parking the hotel provides is valet which will run $10 per day, or $20 per day (if you stay overnight). Also, there is no free internet, but you have the choice of paying $15 per day to get it.

We arrived at the Tampa Marriott Waterside and had a great time! I was traveling with colleagues and my room with a balcony overlooking Harbor Island and the Bay... was just perfect!

We did encounter a little "attitude" with the concierge, however, the hotel itself was just amazing! I loved relaxing on my waterview patio, with a nice bottle of wine and my laptop :)

Room service was prompt and provided me with more bottled water than I asked for (at no charge).

The room was a bit "damp" but I guess that's just Florida for you.

Valet was also a bit slow and the bell boy service was laughable. He brought our luggage in and informed us he couldn't bring it upstairs and then made it VERY obvious that he was going to wait for a tip. He literally brought our bags in about 30 feet. Obnoxious!

There is a starbucks on site (thank god) and the location of the hotel itself, can't be beat!

All in all... this is a great hotel and when in Tampa this is my go-to!

Their spa was recommended by my hotel (Sheraton on Ashley) as my hotel didn't do massages - I was able to get a last minute appointment and the reservation process was very relaxing (unlike the place I tried to go to earlier in the day - but that's another review) - I had a nice relaxing massage - and it included time in the sauna and a mimosa (or for us non-drinkers, OJ) - would definitely recommend.

Stayed here for a conference. Very attractive and well maintained. The staff is friendly and courteous. The room is nothing fantastic, but again, clean and well maintained.
Fairly quiet rooms - I do always ask for a room as far away from the elevators as possible to avoid traffic.
Nice TV (HD) in the room.
Safe in room
Chiller (definitely NOT a refrigerator but it will keep sodas and water cold)
PC connection to the TV so you can watch your own DVDs
Ironing board and iron in room
Hairdryer in room (I'm bald - don't know if it worked)
Very cushy bed.
Great air conditioner.
Starbuck's in lobby.

They charge for everything!!
Internet is $15/day
The bottled water in the room is $3.50 a bottle (.5 liter)
Food on site is expensive ($30 - $40 each)
Parking is $20/day unless you want to walk to the parking garage 150 yards away (did I mention it rains in Florida?)
No snack machine on any floor

All in all a 4 out of 5.

Stayed here for 5 nights recently for a major convention at the hotel. Let me preface my review by pointing out that, while the convention I was attending took over the entire 2nd floor, there were 2 other groups at the hotel as well - it was my understanding that this 700+ room hotel was at or very near capacity for the entirety of my stay.

The lobby is probably the nicest part of the hotel - gorgeous views, well appointed and you're very near the friendly and helpful staff.

Speaking of the staff: from the housekeepers, to the bell captain, to the concierge to table-waits to management - the staff made this hotel wonderful. The service at the conference meals was great, the on-site restaurants are not HORRIBLY overpriced (maybe 20% or so) and the food is decent.

Food: in the restaurants and room service was pretty decent. The steak was over-seasoned, but the burgers and general bar food were all enjoyable - and again, the prices weren't mind-numbing. However, the food serve en-mass at the convention was pretty mediocre. We were served a steak that I honestly thought may have been the remains of some former-pigeon my airplane sucked into a jet on the way in - turns out, the steak was just reallly done.

The rooms were all right - nothing special here. The TV is a nice flat screen, and the balcony is nice - with my schedule, however, I had about 6 hours between evening and morning sessions...and I used it to sleep. I can't really speak to the entertainment past that. It's a standard Marriott (meh)....with one complaint - the building is clearly older...when the room next door flushed their toilet, my bathroom sink definitely "gurgled" loud enough to pull me out out of a deep sleep. Maybe a minor thing to some, but that's certainly not helping Marriott win over a typically Hilton-brand customer.

If you run into this hotel as I did, via an on-site meeting or convention - you could do worse.

If you have a "dinner on your own" I would highly suggest skipping the sports bar and walking down the street 3 blocks and going to Jackson's - try the crab cakes....you'll dance at my wedding you'll be so appreciative for the recommendation.

Good hotel very close to the convention center.  Nice rooms, lovely lobby.  Accommodated multiple convention groups when I was there.  Be sure to take the trolley (right in front) to Ybor City.  Nice fitness room (machines, cardio, free weights) but no changing room.

Reasons for not being a 5:  the area is an urban wasteland -- all modern buildings, very few restaurants or shops within easy walking distance.  The parking garage is a block away (and valet parking is $20 + taxes a night).  The nightclub across the river is VERY LOUD on weekends, waking us up at 2:30AM Saturday morning and Sunday morning, in spite of closed windows and air conditioners on full.  Outdoor "hot tub" was merely a "warm tub".

Very pretty lobby and public areas, but the guest rooms are ordinary. Stayed last night and had the unpleasant experience of finding a handwritten petition from housekeeping essentially soliciting a tip. Might have been ok with that had I not found a squashed series of cockroaches in the drapes and the previous occupant's used soap and shampoo in the shower.  Also, housekeeping started knocking on the door to clean at 8:00 am

Service was pretty good at this Marriot. Rooms could have been better given the prices they charge!

One disadvantage this Marriot has is that it offers only valet parking and no option for self parking. So you really have to be careful what you leave in the car. My camera disappeared from the back seat and the hotel could not do anything about it!

Although it is said that "all men are created equal" the same cannot be said about Marriott hotels. This place is pretty palatial. The foyer (yeah I said foyer!) is beautiful and the suites are really comfy. As a person with a massively sized head, I need a good set of pillows. 4 usually suffices. Well, upon opening the door to my room I noticed what seemed to be 46 pillows on my bed. Needless to say, my planetoid of a noggin was delighted! The front desk couldn't be nicer, and the restaurant choices are really good -- especially since you can order from their fancy Italian restaurant's menu at the hotel bar. Nothing feels better than looking like a creeper while munching on a delicious flat bread pizza with artichoke and prosciutto. Fellas, word of warning, if you are going to try and hit on a woman, don't use the line that "hey, how are you. Do you know artichokes are the aphrodisiac of the vegetable family". Neither women nor hotel security think that's smooth.

Although the stache came here for business and didn't have time to thoroughly explore the beautiful humidity, plethora of waffle houses and extensive population of women with leg and calf tattoos that Tampa has to offer -- he did thoroughly enjoy his stay at the Marriott Waterside.

Typical Marriott: Great property, layers and layers of fees and attempts to squeeze you (a message on the phone about their vacation club, $4.00 rip off for bottled water, no parking, etc....).

The room service for breakfast was super fast. The food was marginal.

The room itself was nice but I had to pay extra for a waterside view and a balcony (Marriott = grab by the short ones and pull hard).

Not only is this central spot beautiful on the inside and out, but their three restaurants (gotta love the choices!) ALL use salad greens from their very own ROOFTOP garden!  As a farmer, this was the icing on the cake for me.  You can't get fresher food in a city than a restaurant who GROWS its own food.  I hope in the future they have more veggies to choose from their gardens (right now I think it's only their salads).  And I hope other Marriott hotels around the country start taking notes from the Chefs who made this happen in downtown/Waterside Tampa.

There are noticeable differences between hotels that specialize in personalized, boutique-style service, and there are hotels that do volume business. They each have their advantages, but I'll let you take a moment and decide which one (in my opinion) the Tampa Marriott Waterside is.

Got it sorted? Cool. This behemoth waterside stopover is situated more or less across the street from the hockey arena, and what that means is that they're churning bodies through here. I tend to find the front desk to be the gateway to my emerging opinion of a hotel, and while the desk folk were accommodating here, they were also mostly perfunctory. I managed to get in here in between home games of a playoff series, which meant that while they were cranking them through the hotel, they apparently weren't as nuts as they get when the Lightning is at home. So bear that in mind when you book.

I was told via a number of folks that I spoke with that this hotel is close to some fun and interesting things to do in the Tampa area - that may well be true, but I can't corroborate just yet. What I can say is that I'd stay here again. It was perfectly clean, the beds were comfy and it was quiet when it needed to be. But a little more smiling at the front desk wouldn't have hurt anything, either.

I couldn't have piked a better hotel for my quick Tampa getaway! From the moment I walked in I experienced nothing but wonderful service from the super friendly staff. The city  view room I had was very nice with a beautiful view. The hotel is conveniently located with an easy walk to downtown area, the trolley that is right outside the door that goes to the aquarium (also walkable), the Tampa Port, and all that Ybor City has to offer (which is a great  nightlife). A nice quite morning walk, or jog,  along the riverwalk is a great way to work off a few calories from all of the wonderful food (and drink) choices that you indulge in! My next trip to Tampa will start and end with this hotel!

Everything about the hotel was nice. The room was very clean and had a great view of the docks. The hotel lobby was spacious and festive for the Christmas holiday season. The best part is that the customer service was exceptional. If you're going on a cruise that ports in Tampa, I highly recommend staying at this hotel. It's within walking distance to the port of calls. I believe it's less than a mile away since it only took 15 minutes to walk there. The only downside of this hotel that I can think of is that it's a bit far from the Tampa airport. The ride took about 20 minutes without any traffic. The taxi fare came out to $25 (before tip).

My wife and I spent the weekend here on a quick get-a-way.  At $250 a night, I expected a lot better and did not appreciate being nickled and dimed for everything.  Thin worn out towels, $15 a day for Internet unless you want to sit in the lobby, $20 a day for parking plus tip, $5.00 to get your luggage from the car into the lobby and then a second person is another $5 from the lobby to your room....add to that $4 for Fuji Water in the room and finally enough is enough.  Great views, nice lobby but for what the weekend cost, there are lots of other options nearby.  Oh yeah, the movies were out of order.

If you are on a full expense account trip, I guess it doesn't matter.....but a poor value for the bucks.

Stayed here for the recent Taylor Swift concert.  I have stayed here a few times when attending events at the Forum, very convenient to the Forum.  The room was nice, a little small for four of us (2 adults, 2 kids).  The beds are comfortable and the room was clean.

The room smelled musty when we arrived, so I cranked the A/C and then left for dinner and the concert.  We arrived back late and noticed it smelled even worse.  By now it was too late to get another room, but when I mentioned this to the front desk at check out, they apologized and refunded the parking fee ($22) and WiFi fee ($15).

All in all it was another nice stay at this hotel.

I adore this hotel.  When I traveled extensively away from Tampa, and when I lived away, this hotel was always my favorite when I was in town for whatever reason.  The trolley access makes for a delightful adventure to Ybor(or Channelside if you don't want to walk).  The service is top notch, and the views are some of the best in Tampa.

Do 5 star hotels really have 1-star valet services?

Lets just say it all went downhill with the rude and inconsiderate valet.  Seriously, get new valet or I will never come back.

They were just hanging out on the side by some booth and nobody cared to help me.  If they don't get a big enough tip, they give you a mean face and curse you under their breath.  Its ridiculous.  I'll just park my own car next time.  I don't deserve that treatment.

This hotel was just what we needed, when we needed it.  Great location, and we got a great view overlooking the marina and the pool.  Concierge lounge allowed us to hang out at the hotel for the day and use their complimentary (no coins needed) laundry facilities on the second floor.  Room was clean and comfy, hubby and kiddo loved the pool.   Nice fitness center well kept with modern machines in great repair.  Staff went out if their way to be friendly everywhere we went.

This hotel was very nice. We had a corporate off-site here for 3 days and what a lovely place to be on business.

The accommodations are wonderful and this is a great part of town with Channelside just a quick walk down the street and the bay-front at your doorstep.

We had imaginative catering in the hotel for our function. I'm often surprised when this happens since most hotels do not provide more than "standard" fare for on-site business catering. The lobby bar was a wonderful happy hour spot and the service overall was very good.

I would certainly consider this hotel for a stay cation being in the Tampa Bay area and would recommend highly for business. The one drawback is that the parking garage is a couple blocks away making it inconvenient if you're in and out a lot. The alternative is Valet which is never cheap.

I stayed here for a few days mid-week while attending a conference at the convention center (conveniently located about a block away).

Location is great for downtown Tampa and the decor is standard for a large chain hotel.

But no free Internet?!?  Come on!  I stayed here in 2011 and I think in-room Internet is about as important as in-door plumbing.

Compare this to the Marriott Residence Inn right up the road, where for less money you get a kitchenette, Internet and extra space.

I will admit, while I didn't get to partake, the pool deck looked pretty special.

Had a great experience here when I attended the CS Week conference last week.  Staff was great, rooms were clean, housekeeping was excellent, breakfast buffet was good but a little pricey at $18, the italian restaurant onsite was really fantastic, the sports bar and lobby bar stayed open late.  Alex was our server one night in the sports bar and stayed on top of our big group.  I hear this hotel also hosts the Millenium Dancesport championships - I wish I could return for that.  Thanks Marriott Tampa!

Great place to stay - especially if you are attending a conference as it is very close to the convention center (about a 5 minute walk). The hotel itself is clean and has lots to offer - starbucks, 2 restaurants, Hetz rent-a-car, pool, spa, and a very nice gym. Also, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

As far as the rooms are concerned, again very clean, roomy and I absolutetly love the pillow-top beds!!

The only thing that I disliked about the hotel is that they charge a pretty hefty price for the internet ($18 a day including tax) and for receiving packages ($20 each time you receive one in). Other than that - the hotel is A-O-K.

Hotel itself was fine. Nice rooms nice staff. My gripe is with the valet/s who were smoking in my van. It reeked of smoke when I get in it and took awhile to dissipate the guy getting out of it reeked of smoke as well. So must have been sitting around the corner smoking in it while waiting to get into the front drive. I'm highly allergic to cig smoke. But this hotel it's mandatory you valet park and they take 20-30 minutes to get the car. No thanks!!!!

Its a Marriott, so how bad could it be?  I was here for a convention over last weekend and chose this fine establishment to be my home away from home.

The hotel itself is beautiful and clean with some very nice views and a great location.  The room was standard, but fine.  The bed was a little uncomfortable for my taste, but nothing technically wrong with it.  My biggest complaint is that the food at the hotel was mediocre at best and waaaaaay overpriced.  I recommend eating off site. Also, the internet  was pricey.  If it wasn't included in my convention, I would have even more of a problem with it.  When I can get free internet at Courtyard or Residence Inn, it makes me want to stay there instead of the bigger Marriott hotels.

Regardless, the hotel is very nice.

Cozy, comfy, friendly staff, the usual for this type of hotel that caters to business travelers and vacationers alike.
Valet guys are very friendly, always saying hello, offering to help, etc. (it's kind of their job I guess). Desk staff and concierge were also pleasant.
The housekeeping staff could be a bit more thorough, nothing was gross but I could just tell they skipped over certain things.

Overall, nothing outstanding, it's your typical Marriott. The location sets it apart since it is in spitting distance of the convention center, the marina and a couple of other places.

Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Great view. Loved the pool. The sports bar Champions has an excellent setup for watching games.

Jacuzzi is pretty small.

I stayed here for a convention and I'll start right off and say this hotel is in a beautiful setting with a large and airy lobby. I asked for a high floor room facing the water, but got a 3rd floor room facing the city. (This was only because I insisted on a king sized bed, I hate having two doubles). Otherwise I could've had my requests fulfilled. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed extremely fluffy and comfortable; I slept really well.

As far as food options go, it was convenient to walk to the lobby and have a Starbucks right there. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but I did go to the onsite sports bar (Ohio State and the Gators in football), and it was least to say, quite an interesting and amped-up crowd. The other nights myself and my business colleagues ate at a nearby sushi restaurant just over the bridge on the marina-side; then another night we took a short tram ride to a newer restaurant complex that had a Hooters (though we didn't eat there, we ate at a nice upscale Tapas bar).

At night, the lights are pretty on the buildings and reflect on the water, the pool was a bit too chilly to go into but the exercise room was stellar. The convention center is just down the street, as well as a few bars; I didn't consider going to Ybor, the immediate area has plenty of choices for bars.

All in all, a very good experience, I would definitely return to this Marriott.

This hotel has a great location next to the Convention Center (perfect since I was there for a trade show).  It's also right on the Riverwalk pathway, so it was easy to explore the area and enjoy this pretty area of Tampa.

The hotel itself has been kept up pretty well, although some of the room decor is starting to look a little dated (the throw blankets on the end of the beds looked worn out and the curtains/rugs could probably use a refresh).

The on-site staff was friendly and courteous; however, the staff I spoke with when booking a room block for our group were very frustrating to work with and did not seem to want to help me.

Overall, a pleasant hotel in a nice location.

Great hotel right across from convention center.  I have stayed there a few times and have enjoyed it each time. I just spent a few nights there this week and really enjoyed the outside patio and the fireplaces each night. Great ambience and bar staff were wonderful. My room was overlooking the water and had a balcony that I started my day off each morning with a cup of coffee.  Food at the hotel is ok, I was part of a large group so it's hard to be good in buffet style all the time

I absolutely loved this hotel! The location was great--we could walk to the cruise port.  The hotel itself was wonderful, great amenities and a great view.  We unfortunately did not have a waterview, but it was still stunning. The only thing that was disappointing was no free wifi in the rooms.  You can get wifi free at some of the cheaper hotels, it wouldn't break the bank for Marriott to offer the free wigi in the rooms.  I will definitely stay here again on our next visit!

I've had a few business events at the Marriott, and it is one of the nicest hotels in tampa. The lobby is incredibly spacious, and was recently updated. The hotel has a really nice spa, and a resort style pool with a great view of downtown and the river. The restaurants on site are very good, and it nice to have them in the hotel since it is located in more of a business district. The hotel is located right on the river walk, so it is very easy to access bay shore blvd, a great place to run and walk. You can walk to channelside, a fun nightlife place with good restaurants.

The biggest issue with the hotel is that the wifi is pricy, and you have no choice but to valet, for close to $20 a day. Pretty steep if you ask me.

Really?  Tampa has no hotel rated more than 4 stars?  This one deserves the fifth star.  Great service, and even better location with an interesting 360 view:  One side overlooks the Hillsborough River and a pretty row of new condos with their marina; the other way is the convention center with its open, upper deck and big scale disco balls that sparkle at night.  Nearby there's a streetcar gazebo and vintage cars running on tracks, the Lightning stadium, mucho freeways and a blue edge of Gulf waters on the horizon.

Haven't stayed here for a decade, so it was neat to find that I could now make online requests that were honored for high (or low) floor, down (or fiber) pilows, city or water view.

The atrium soars, with live palms anchoring the lobby floor.  The mezzanine has a grand piano.  Blessings on us for coming in while the National Gospel conventioneers were playing and singing.  The atrium's bar faces the patio and a River view, but a quarter turn on a bar stool provides awesome people watching.

We opted for the breakfast buffet at the Waterside cafe.  Good fare, with really fluffy waffles and a mile high selection of luscious fresh fruit in addition to the regular breakfast items.  Somebody stuck some random Biedermeir panels at the end of each booth.  Hope somebody got a good deal on legless tabletops from Europe, even if the decortive end use is mystifying .

Speed checkout is easy by dialing the desk and leaving name and room number, then keys in the room.   Ditto, dialup valet.

Bah-bye.  Hope to be back sometime soon.

I had decided to take a Labor Day mini getaway to Tampa to visit Busch Gardens, and Ybor City and wanted a nice hotel close to both (and also that I could earn points being a Marriott Rewards member). Imagine my   surprise when I found this hotel for $89.00 on the Marriott website with free breakfast (it does pay to be a AAA member).

Upon check in, I was amazed at the size of this hotel. It is right across the street from the Convention Center and the Lightnings arena and has a huge and beautiful lobby. The front desk service was exceptional and got a bonus of being upgraded to a suite on the top floor overlooking the Hillsborough River and Harbour Island.

Another bonus is that this hotel is situated along the Tampa Riverwalk (think of Las Olas Riverwalk in Fort Lauderdale) which goes from downtown Tampa to Channelside, which is an entertainment complex right next to the cruise ship terminal.

One thing I take away from this hotel is that this is not a touristy hotel; this is more of a convention/business hotel, although there were cruise ship passengers staying there on the same weekend.

The one downside is that parking is nonexistent and the valet costs $15/day so it can be pricey.

Tip: Try Champions Sports Bar in the lobby; some good beer on tap :)

Stayed here an October Sunday for a wedding. Nice accommodations and lobby bar, decent pool upstairs, cool channel views, but no shuttles and incompetent valets (who brought us back someone else's bag) that overcharge to put your car in a parking garage across the street which means they'll be returned by sweaty drivers in longer than they should. Convenient enough but wouldn't return given the price and that hassle. Staff was friendly and express checkin was painless and when we called for towels and a cot we were assisted promptly.

My review is based on the pool facilities and the bar, not the lodging portion of this facility. They have a pretty amazing pool spread out with ample seating and a great view over the bay. The bar is located directly by the pool, their drinks are pretty standard, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. They have table service at the pool which means you can all but be floating and get served a Miami Vice with a floater. The great thing is, is that you don't have to actually be staying here to use the pool or drink at the bar.-

Just finished a 3-day stay at the Waterside Marriott for the Gasparilla 15K, 5K and Half-Marathon Race Weekend - and I could not have picked a more perfect hotel. From the location, to the staff, to the accomodations - - - all were perfect.

STAFF: Ricardo "Mo" Arce at the front desk - at check-in (and actually the day prior) went above-and-beyond. I had a couple of special requests that I provided, and Mo was more than willing to accomodate my requests - started off the visit on the right foot. Jasmine at the front desk was very helpful with my annoying "mircowave soup" requests (there are no microwaves in the rooms, but the front desk will assist.....I felt bad for having her microwave my soup - but, she did it without question). All the other staff (housekeeping, security, dining and bar) were very polite at every encounter.

MANAGEMENT: The City of Tampa had a "boil water" requirement in effect for most of our stay, and the management stepped up right away and made all the in-room bottled water complimentary (and then provided more bottles the next morning). Great proactive management decision.

ROOM: We were in Room 2001, corner room, with a balcony - facing the water. View was amazing - patio was very enjoyable - and double bed was comfortable (but, the sheets were a bit itchy-scratchy - maybe it was the soap). Tons of pillows on the bed; bathroom was very nice (with Bath-n-Body works amenities) - and water pressure was very good (enjoyed that strong water pressure after the races).

INTERNET: Yep, it's pricy - but, due to my elite status, it was comp. For those that complain about interent fees, most big city, downtown located hotels still charge for internet - unless you are a rewards member....so, join the elite program, stay the nights required each year, and reap the benefits. For those not desiring to pay - the lobby has many work areas, and free internet.

DINING: Did not eat at either of the venues - but, the menus were very extensive, and the food looked good (passed thru the breakfast seating). There are not many places to eat right near the hotel (see my comment below regarding local area). Food was very expensive (but, it is like that at big city hotels). No free breakfast.

PARKING: OK - parking is a NEGATIVE at this property - BUT, I have a easy work-around. DO NOT pull your car up to the front of the property (it is a very compact loading/unloading area, and is easily congested). Pull into the City of Tampa South Regional Garage which is directly in front of the hotel (north of the hotel...before the trolley tracks). If you are lucky, like I was, there will be an event going on the day that you check-in (there was, and I paid $5.00 to park in the garage). Then, when you leave on Sunday (or whatever day you check out on), if you leave before 11am, there is no attendent normally, and the gates are UP, and you just drive out!! We paid $5.00 (yes, F-I-V-E dollars) for 3x days of parking (FRI, SAT and SUN). The complaints/negative comments about the valet service are warranted (even though we did not park, we witnessed long ques waiting for their cars, and the valets are just like all valets---all they want are tips (no tip is ever "enough") and they drive your car like mad-men (that we witnessed....since the Marriott valet park the cars in the same garage that I paid $5.00 for 3 days). The walk from the garage to the hotel is *easy* (and we had luggage). Even if there are no special events scheduled (and you don't get the $5.00 rate), the DAILY RATE for that garage is only $10/day max - - so, you still save $12/day by using the garage.

LOCAL AREA: The trolley is literally right outside the front door of the hotel and takes you to the Historic Area of YBor (where there is plenty to eat and drink). We did NOT drive the entire weekend stay - - rode the trolley.

Overall, I would DEFINATELY stay here again. Price was perfect, hotel was perfect....and just an enjoyable weekend.

I've stayed here every year for the past few years during a weekend work convention, and have to say that it's one of my favorite hotels as far as work-related trips go. The hotel is always clean, the staff is friendly and efficient, and I always manage to get a room with a beautiful view of the water.

The best part about this place? The Champps Sports Bar inside the hotel. They're always open late, good selection of beer, and the food is actually pretty good. They have a lot of TVs, too, which is great for catching the games but not having to go out of our way since we don't ever really have a lot of free time. The breakfast at the other little restaurant by the hotel store is also pretty good, and they have a little Starbucks type coffee place inside the hotel as well. Big, comfortable lobby chairs and lots of open space. Overall, very convenient when the hotel is where you spend most of your time. Also very close to the convention center, which is the 2nd place we spend most of our time at, so that's nice too.

The mattresses and pillows seemed a little too firm this time around and my neck and back kind of hurt, but as far as I can remember from the past, this place always had the most comfy set up so maybe it was just my room this time. No free wifi, which would be nice, but that seems normal these days.

Hey! Let's go to the pool!!!!  Wait, we don't have a reservation or are not staying at the hotel.....DOESN'T MATTER!!!  They encourage people to come out to the pool on a hot day, even if you aren't staying there.

This hotel is beautiful, elegant and very public friendly.  I recently visited here with some friends to hang out at the pool.  The pool is very spacious and inviting...as they should be :)   The food was delicious from the in house restaurant and the pool bar offered very reasonable deals on drinks.

I like that the hotel pool is open to the public.  This is a smart move as they are marketing to their potential overnight stayers or the very least feeding them recommendations.

I have also DJed a few weddings here at this venue and the staff is very helpful and friendly and the ballrooms are beautiful locations to hold a reception.

So, whether you are looking for a cool place to splash around in for a few hours, or a wedding reception location, check out the Tampa Marriott.

Stayed at the Marriott Waterside this past weekend (9/12-13/14).  The Waterside Dining facility waiter was a joke.  I've never been to a restaurant, let alone a $30+/plate restaurant that the waiter put half of the tray on the table while serving drinks or food.  Any restaurant would tell you this is a HUGE no-no, you get a tray stand.  Also, as others have mentioned, the valet service is worthless.  15+ minutes for them to get the car, and when they do finally get it, there's 8 cars crammed together so you can't get out.  Another thing was the the St. Louis Rams stayed at the hotel Saturday night before playing the Tampa Bay Bucs Sunday.  While I had no problem with the team, the team buses were parked in front of the hotel Sunday morning with the engines running, at least 6 charter buses, hence, the exhaust fumes were overwhelming while waiting for the horrible valet service.  The room was decent, but the water pressure was pretty low on the 9th floor.  This place is definitely not worth the money, look elsewhere.

Recently stayed at this property for over a week so wanted to give some feedback on the hotel:

1. Room: Great service, my room was always restocked and cleaned each day.
2. Spa: The spa was very relaxing and accommodating. Susan is a fantastic masseuse   and Judy is lovely to chat with during her pedicures.
3. Food: Champions is a good all-day dining option, Ruben is the coolest bartender! He always suggests drinks if you're not sure what you want, and is very talented. The Waterside cafe is delicious but the dinner menu is very limited (only a handful of entrees to choose from). Put in several 'custom requests' to the kitchen and was please each time!
4. Valet: Only problem with this hotel is the valet. They are not very efficient during high volume hours. Also, they seem to have trouble staying next to the phone. After I noticed it took 10-15 minutes each time to get my car I tried to call ahead, they only answered the phone about half the time. Despite someone always being in the key room when I walked down. They are friendly just not very efficient. The poor guys/ladies have to run down the street to get each car.

Overall, great accommodations, close to everything in the downtown area. I found myself walking instead of driving most of the time.

Very nice, clean hotel downtown on the water. Champions bar staff was friendly and efficient. Another bar in the lobby had staff that was not very friendly and acted like we were an intrusion on their time. Only other issue I had is that the hotel does not have free parking for its guests. You can either park down the street in a parking garage for a fee or you can use their valet parking service for $24 a day. Although the valet staff was very helpful and friendly and quick. Overall I liked it.

Pre-review note: it is always so funny to read people's negative hotel reviews, holy self-entitlement.

This place is awesome. This is the place to stay if you are a fan of a team playing the Lightning. They are likely staying here or near here and have to walk by because it is just a short walk to the arena. And you can watch them walk by. You can even be like me and awkwardly turn around when you see one walking towards you, so later at the game you can see him point you out to a teammate.

I really would like to stay here longer one day, we were only here for a night because initially we weren't sure about what day we would come to Tampa, and by the time that was all figured out, Friday night reservations skyrocketed to $300+ a night.

We had a room on the top floor, which was awesome, especially because it was a room with a waterside view, right over the marina too. This was entertaining when he first got in because someone was SWIMMING through there. I thought the room was quite nice, though I was really only in it to sleep.

We also went to look at the pool, which was on the third floor. It is a really nice pool, big enough for someone to be able to do laps in it.

Didn't get to check out the fancy concierge lounge, but did go to the sports bar. It was way larger than I thought it would be, and it was pretty nice. We didn't eat there, just drink at the bar so I'm not gonna give it a full review of its own.

The staff inside the hotel that we encountered were nice. One of them saw my jersey as we were getting ready to leave and was talking to me about the game, because apparently when he last saw it, the Lightning had been winning.

And also speaking of a good location, right across the street is a streetcar station, which makes it easy to get around, especially to Ybor City.

The only dislike was the valet staff as they were not friendly...probably because we don't use valet ever. Also they make it absolutely ridiculous for anyone who doesn't want to pay a ridiculous valet fee to get around in the front and load their bags. By the way, they rag on people's cars as they drive them through the same exact parking garage that cost us less than $10 to park for nearly a day. Walk. Walking is good for you.

I was there for a conference in November 2014.  The hotel itself was fine.  But we had a BEDBUG problem and the staff refused to admit to it.  I got bit.  One of my fellow conference goers even found a bedbug, took a picture on his phone and showed it to the staff.
Now, I travel a lot and unfortunately, this is not my first time encountering bedbugs. But even though the other hotel also didn't admit it, they at least called to follow up, comped me a night, and gave me a meal voucher.  Nothing from this Marriott - zilch, nada!

Stayed here as part of the work conference and was very comfortable all week.  The food served for the conference was some of the best I've had at a hotel and it wasn't your typical conference chicken breast.

Nice bar area and outdoor seating with the gas "fireplace" was great for the cool evenings in November.

There was only one downside - Don't ask Manny to get you a cab.  Twice he called a van for our larger group and both times we paid considerably more than a cab would have cost. even accounting for the additional people.

Beautiful destination, awful management, fraudulant credit card practices. Watch your tabs, as they are in the business of illegally altering credit card slips, and when brought to a half a dozen managers attention, still currently a month unaddressed and unresolved. Bill Heitzig, the resident manager of the place and assumed head of operations and customer service, absent throughout. Completely unacceptable that I'm forced to file a police report in order to recoup the unauthorized charges on my account. I advise everyone to carefully check their bank accounts when dining or booking, as it is apparent this place will do anything, including break the law, to make a few bucks.

This is an awesome hotel with top-notch facilities and very competent and friendly staff. i happen to be an avid swimmer and exercise freak. So the gym and pool were much appreciated. The pool looks unassuming, but actually functions as a 25 m lap pool that's 4-5 feet deep (easy flip turns). Hotel restaurants were fine, but (surprise) pretty pricey. Views if the river from the lobby are very impressive. I had a great stay.

Ahhhh to be in the laps of luxury, this is how I feel anytime I visit the Marriott pool. Ever since I discovered the Marriott opens the pool to the public this has become my favorite place. I love feeling like I'm on vacation even if it's for a few hours. Every time I have visited the pool I'm also greeted with a friendly smile from Jack the pool bartender. Jack is not only friendly and knowledgeable about all things football but he can mix up the best rum runners in town. If you get hungry at the pool you can order hamburgers at the poolside bar or order room serves to your lounge chair (I highly recommend the quesadilla). Recently they have started charging on the weekend for locals. Although I am open to this idea I think $20 is a ridiculous price to pay for nothing in return. Each time I have visited the pool I have definitely spent $50-$100 at the poolside bar and I think this should be considered in the 'pool cover'. I understand that there has to be a balance of guest and locals but by not offering anything in return I don't see the benefit in paying $20. Hotels in the area are starting to offer drinks specials or DJ's on the weekends with much less cover. I love the Marriott and wish they would consider some other options for locals.

I was invited to speak at a conference which was held here in town at the Tampa Marriott Waterside, and the organizers insisted that I stay the night at the hotel. Since I'm Marriott Elite, the hotel wasted no time in giving me a room on the top floor overlooking downtown Tampa. Oh darn the bad luck!

I was able to self-park my car, drop off my bag with the concierge, and then walk down the hall to the banquet hall / conference room. The conference area is good-sized and quite elegant. Most larger groups would be walking across the street to the Tampa Convention Center, but the Grand Ballroom at the Tampa Marriott can handle a few thousand people so it was perfect for our gathering.

After the daily convention activities I stopped by the Front Desk to pick up my room key and finally get a look at my room. Wow, what a spectacular view of the city! The Tampa Marriott Waterside sits along Channelside Drive at the intersection of South Florida Avenue. From my balcony I could see all of the downtown high-rises, along with the Convention Center, the Times Forum, the Hillsborough River, the University of Tampa campus, Raymond James stadium, and if I leaned out and twisted my body the right way I could just about pick out my condo in Carrollwood.

The rooms on the other side of the hotel face Harbor Island and Davis Island, and the whole of Tampa Bay. If you're there to watch the fireworks or the Gasparilla Pirates Parade then I highly recommend a water-view room. Marriott also has a concierge lounge with free breakfast, afternoon snacks, and cocktails. Very fancy and an amazing view.

From the Marriott you can hop the trolley into Channelside and Ybor, or walk across the bridge to Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi. Lots of great food and nightlife in every direction. Oh, and let's not forget that the Tampa bay Times Forum is in walking distance so the Marriott is a perfect spot if you're in town to see a hockey game or watch a concert.

Once upon a time I stayed at this hotel. Once was enough for me to learn about the hidden fees and the inconveniences that made my visit want to say that I've experienced better.

There really is a huge problem with a hotel that charges $15 for wifi every  24 hours while in your room. This charge is really outdated and pathetic considering everyone uses technology so frequently. There are other hotels or even other Marriotts nearby they have free wifi. Free wifi is available in the lobby for 3 hours. Um, okay. You got my $15.

Then again, this hotel may simply rolling a theme of being difficult considering that there is no free parking. There are garages around and one is across the street or the other option is valet. All of them are about $25 a day.

There wasn't a microwave or a mini fridge, which forces guests to frequently spend dollar bills at the on sight dining. The dining isnt bad for one or two nights. They have a sports bar, a cafe and an Italian eatery. There is also a bar in the lobby and a hotel store. The store has novelty items, tiny bottles of wine, bathroom goods and so on.

The poolside bar serves alcohol but I was ushered away at 445 when they were close to closing and told I'd have to order room service if I wanted food. That was frustrating since I was in a bathing suit and I had to go downstairs just to grab something to eat. Lame.

The pool was really nice and plenty of chairs to go around. There is a small jacuzzi and a few shaded areas. The gym is right next door and a little small but the equipment is up to date. They have a water jug, towels and magazines. Good stuff with the pool and gym.

The private balconies and views were perfect. They have average space and have table seating. The balcony was my favorite feature of the hotel since I could see the yatches and see the city. I woke to a beautiful view...priceless.

Aside from the few headaches, this is a pretty nice hotel but I'll try somewhere else before coming back.

I am loyal to the Hilton brand since I'm an HH diamond member however, I had an opportunity to stayed at the Marriott Waterside for a convention earlier this month and was impressed. Location was great - short walk to the convention center and restaurants. The staff is extremely accommodating. From the front desk to the concierge lounge everyone went the extra mile to ensure all my needs were met during my stay.

Handwritten note from room housekeeper left on desk. Get a balcony view -- it's worth it. Stellar dining options - a fine dining Italian, waterfront American casual, sports bar and some to-go cafes / snack bars. Customer service at front desk and concierge are spot on. They're running a tight and friendly ship. Valet service is immediate and on point. Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy products in bathroom a plus. Eco friendly and a gorgeous view.

Wifi is $9.95 / day or $14.95 for high speed.

One con: the business center is not 24/7 and also charges money to print.

This Marriott is located right next to the convention center and it served as the overflow event location for the meetings that I was attending.   The meeting spaces were professionally done and the food was okay.   The hotel event staff seemed to be responsive.

My colleagues who stayed there really liked their rooms...  and I would probably try to get into this hotel the next time I am in Tampa.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and stop frequently either before or after Lightning games for drinks at the lobby bar.

We usually stay in a room facing the water and Harbor Island. The rooms have always been clean and comfortable.

It has a fantastic pool - very large and spacious.  Cafe waterside is a great place for lunch.  We also love the Sports Bar.  Great place to go for a drink whenever we go to the Tampa Times Forum.

It's located right across the street from the Tampa Convention Center.  Also a short walk to Harbor Island or Channelside.  You can also take the trolley if you don't want to walk.

The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the valet service.  They are very slow and not very friendly.  Even misplaced our car keys one time.

Beautiful hotel and great amenities. We enjoyed our three night stay. The beds are so comfortable and the views are incredible. We loved going to the Champions bar that is in the hotel during any down time we had. The hotel is right on the bay and I enjoyed a long run right along the water. The spa is top notch, the facial was marvelous. We also enjoyed their pool as well. There is a bar at the pool that makes getting drinks and food very easy, maybe to easy. Lol!

It was right across the street from the convention, so that made it so easy to walk and not worry about parking. Set right in the heart of downtown Tampa. I highly recommend staying here if you are in Tampa.

Location location location... that's what I was there for... and that's what I got.  I recently stayed at the Marriott for the dreaded Florida Bar. Location is what it's all about.  Perfectly located.  As I was taking the bar and did not want to mingle with everyone taking it (high stress environment.... scary place to be), I utilized a lot of what the hotel offered.  The hotel is beautiful.  Towering ceilings when you walk in, friendly service.  Overall really nice.  I had to leave a night early and they took away that night with no penalty (phew!).  Little bit of a drawback was the price of parking.... $44 per night.  Good Gravy!  But I had to do what I had to do.

I had a room with a king size bed and amazing view of the Tampa (and the convention center where the test was).  Very clean room.  My room attendant person even left me a note.  How nice of her.  Clean bathroom with Bath and Body Works products (yes, I'm a sucker).  My room though was freeeeezing.  I usually love a cold room, but it was an arctic tundra in there.  But then while sleeping... it was a sauna.  Talk about moody air.

Since I didn't really want to walk around and talk about the biggest test of our lives, I ordered room service on both nights that I was there.  Large portions... not the best food in the world.... but decent.  Talk about cheesy goodness on their onion soup.  Relatively quick.  Little disclaimer.... EXPENSIVE!!  For the price I paid, I expected a little better food.  But beggers can't be choosers in this situation.

Great hotel though.

It is a great hotel and outstanding location in downtown Tampa.  Right across the street from where the Tampa Lightning Hockey team plays.  You walk across the street and you are there, also it is right across the street from the Tampa Convention Center.  Not a lot of restaurants right in the immediate area but just a $5 cab ride and you are in Ebor City which is where the nightlife action is as well as some better restaurants and lounges.  The rooms in this property are very nicely appointed.  The bar area and lobby are very nice at this hotel.  They have a Champions Sports Bar attached inside the building and their food and beer choices are good ones for a casual dinner.

Finally got a chance to visit the pool on a beautiful Florida day!  The pool was crowded, but we managed to snag some chairs.  The bartender is super friendly and quick- he was busy all day but you never had to wait long.  There's a menu on the bar wall accompanied by a phone where you can order food from. They bring it directly to your beach chair (by signal of a colored flag you clip to your chair)- but be aware there is a $3 delivery charge.
If you do not care for the delivery charge, the bar hosts a chicken caesar salad, hot dogs, hamburgers and potato chips for your convenience.
Bonus points because you can get the sandwiches on Udi's Gluten Free bread!!
I can't believe it has taken me so long to check this pool situation out. I foresee being a frequent visitor this spring/summer season!

I stayed here for the first time in January of 2013. I booked a 4 day stay for a work event with 10 people.

Marvelous choice!

From booking and presale through checkout was an amazing experience.

First the hotel rooms. Fantastic. Clean. Orderly.  Roomy. We all had kings and felt more than ample room.

For the working strategy session we were given a private dining room right off the patio. Because it was right next to the kitchen it was a little teeny noisy but we managed. Was only an issue when we conferenced someone in a couple times. Not a lot.

The food.  Since we were having our event at the hotel we ordered catering through them. What amazing culinary staff.  Breakfasts were healthy options of yogurts and fruits. Lunches were divine. There was more than enough food - I ordered for 10 people and think I had enough for an army of 20. And the deserts. Omg!  Decadence and deliciousness met and had babies.
And since they were all prepared as minis no one felt guilty in any way.

All around had a fantastic event. So much so that I am extremely looking forward to checking in tmmw !

This review is for the pool as the only time I have stayed here was over 10 years ago.  Alright so here is the deal with the pool:

It used to be totally open to the public and it was my favorite spot for an afternoon to hang.  There was always a good crowd, but it wasn't too much of a party and one could still relax.  Jack, the bartender, is always super friendly and can make a mean Miami Vice (floater please).  The food (though there is an upcharge) is really tasty - try the quesadilla.  There is a gorgeous view of downtown and the waterfront - can't be beat.

I have a gripe, however, recently.  They have begun charging for locals to come to the pool ($20).  I get that it is a hotel pool, however, they set the precedent that it was ok to use AND the locals tend to spend money on drinks and food anyway, so they are making a profit.  I hope that management at the Marriott read this review and realize how much us locals truly miss the pool.  I won't pay $20 to use it, but I will spend $20 in drinks....JUST SAYIN!

Bed was probably the worst mattress for a REAL Marriott (not Courtyard, Fairfield, etc.).

Housekeeping knocked at 7:58 AM before I checked out. Normally they get a list of who has checked out already.

Also, the iron in the room was broken, and I didn't have time to wait for them to bring up another one.

One more annoyance is that the concierge lounge isn't open 24/7. I thought that they were all open 24/7. Maybe I'm mistaken.

So first of all, let me commiserate with the sticker shock. I'm not sure if it is Tampa specific, but I was surprised at how much this hotel cost, even with discounted conference rates.

That said, this was a NICE hotel. The staff bent over backwards in order to help get needs met (including a room near the elevator, early check in, late check out, etc.). The housekeeping staff was on point and did an amazing job. The pool and hot tub were absolutely fantastic, and felt incredibly luxurious, even swimming at night. The restaurant staff were fantastic - friendly, remembered me day to day, held interesting conversations, and were flexible in helping my friend create a vegan meal even after they ran out of tempeh. The waters in the lobby were filled and had fun fruit flavors. The wifi in the lobby was strong, and there were a ton of different chair options, for siting solo or in groups.

If this is in your budget, I highly recommend!

I've never stayed here as a guest. Their pool is open to the public, so as a local I come here for that. It's a BEAUTIFUL hotel with an impressive lobby. But I can only really speak about the pool area...

For a while they were charging $20 on Saturdays for non-guests, but now that summer is over they are no longer doing it. The pool is located on the third floor and overlooks the downtown waterfront.

This is definitely more of a resort style pool than a typical hotel pool. There's a nice bar and you can order food from the Champions restaurant (great food, too). Obviously everything is a little pricey since it's a hotel.

The service is excellent, too -- Jack the pool bartender is great and so is Bruce who passes out popsicles poolside.

I especially like the salts for use in the bathroom coupled with soap. My hands were always smelling nice and fresh.

The lobby has a great bar and extended seating area where me and my coworkers would lounge every now and then. For an early conference you can't beat having Starbucks at your convenience, a sports like restaurant/bar for lunch and a waterside grill menu for dinner where you will find amazing service especially from the tall blonde server with the Hungarian accent.

I attended an event here recently with my husband's company.
The event started with a reception including open bar and small bites. The bars, unfortunately, were staffed by only one bartender each, resulting in long waits.
The actual even space was decorated beautifully but had an odd buffet set-up. Basically we had to wait in one to four separate lines, one for each type of protein (there were three) and another for salad and veggies. By the time we got through all the lines, most of the food on our plates was cold. After we ate, our plates weren't cleared for a very, very long time.
Overall, the decor was nice, the food was okay and the staff were friendly but kind of slow.

Great location.  Plenty to do around the marina.  Area is very pet friendly. Hotel, rooms and amenities are all nice and clean. Only two complaints.  Elevators take forever.  Weight area in the fitness room could be bigger for the size of this hotel.  All staff were friendly especially the nice lady working the late shift up in the concierge lounge.

Park your own car. Valet lost my key and we had to hang around until a locksmith created a new one.  They were completely disorganized. Fortunately the manager was there and he tried his best to make us feel comfortable.  Marriott outsources their valet so I did not ding them on the rating.  Again park your own car.

One of the best rooms I've ever stayed at in my life! Came here for a work trip and was only able to enjoy my room for less than 12 hours (from arriving to leaving). When I went to check in, the only King Bed they had left was taken. I asked for a room with the view and this place DELIVERED!
(The only caveat was that this room had a Murphy bed but I did not mind because the Marriott I had stayed at the night before reminded me of The Shining). eek.

When I walked in, I not only saw a kitchen, couch, table set and bathroom, I was delighted to see two balconies overlooking the beautiful Tampa evening. One balcony faced the pool down below so I was able to hear the fun music playing- and the other balcony faced the marina (with pretty boats).

The bathroom had very nice smelling woodsy lotions and the room was very clean! The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. When I woke up the next morning, I was able to see the sun light up the water outside.
If I could live here or rent this place, I definitely would!

Thanks again for an amazing stay!

PS: everyone from the cleaning lady to the front desk attendants were friendly.

MINUS ONE STAR: Valet took 15 minutes to get our rental car out and did not really help with the luggage.

Really nice location for a conference. The meeting rooms were spacious and cool, AV worked great, and it was really easy to get around. I was a little nervous because my conference was for 3,500 people and I thought it would be  a sea of churning bodies dragging laptop cases all around, but it felt intimate and there were plenty of places to catch up with new and old friends and take a break in the lobby between sessions that took place here and at the convention center. I had a hard time finding the stairs (behind the elevators on the far right side of the building, above the registration) but once I knew where to look, I got around with ease.

Really pretty lobby and hotel structure, lots of light and high ceilings, and lots of outdoor benches for resting and eating your lunch while looking over the water! Beautiful.

So.... Kudos to Marriott for taking a thing or two from big sister Ritz Carlton. My house keeper had a little welcome card for me and a very subtle envelope left for her tip. At some point I think she ran into my mom and daughter and moments later my mom said she knocked on the door and gave my little girl a teddy bear and flower. I love that the staff has access to be able to personally offer guests gifts like this!

I enjoyed the refreshing complimentary water at the lobby and the overall look of this place. It was certainly very well kept (smelled nice too!)

I docked a star for the super rude guy moving people out of the drive. They have a Hertz rental company in which I rented a Minivan from and as I'm finally getting  myself in (while breastfeeding my baby, MIND YOU) my mother is trying to get in the car as the guy is yelling at my mom to get in. I get that they need to clear some space for a busy driveway but
A) have a designated space for Hertz rentals, because even the guy helping us set our GPS complained that the dude has been rude to him and his customers repeatedly and
B) Approach your guest and ask them KINDLY to drive up to whatever area you deem out of the way and not shout at them.
