I have stayed at this Marriott twice and it is decent.  It seemed to be a little more pleasant this most recent time I went (June 2007) since I think they were renovating the first time I was there.

In any event, the front desk staff were very good.  They noticed when the checkin line got too long and brought somebody else out from the back room to help people waiting.  They also smiled, waved, and said hello every time we walked in and out of the building.

The room was a decent size and appeared to be pretty clean.  There was a plasma TV, and the new Marriott bedding.  Internet access was not free in the room, which is a big minus in my book.

I didn't eat at the restaurant this time, but last time I was there, early 2006, the service and the food were terrible, and I wouldn't recommend it.

I also didn't use the health club, but my wife said it's been upgraded since last time with a bunch of free weights and cycling machines (don't call them spinning machines - anybody that says they go "spinning" should be dragged out into the street and beaten).

Location isn't too bad.  Parking is free, and it's a big lot.  It's close to the airport and the big Westshore mall, but we spent a lot of time driving back and forth to St. Pete, so I probably screwed that up myself as far as location goes.

In general, if it happens to be near where I need to be, the next time I'm in Tampa, I'd definitely go back to this hotel.

The room was still being cleaned when I got there at 1PM - no big deal.  However it was close to the elevators and loud as people walked past at all hours.  Also it was small and very expensive for what it was.
My largest gripe, and this goes for nearly all the more expensive hotels, is that there is no free wireless access.  In this day and age it's just plain annoying to be charged $13 per day for this.

I spent almost 6 months atht Tampa Marriott Westshore while working on a project in the Tampa area.  I really enjoyed my stay here.  I got to know the staff and I was treated well.   I started to get so comfortable that I even started walking around in my pajamas on the concierge floors.

The location is great since it is close to the airport, downtown and it is between two malls.

I know that they were planning on updating the rooms just before I left.  I have not been back but I have stayed at several other Marriotts that have had the makeover and I really like the results.

I will stay at this hotel the next time my work brings me to Tampa.

Sure the hotel is a bit dated but the staff is very nice and professional and i have to say I was beyond impressed with the shuttle.  They will drop you off anywhere within 2 miles of the hotel which means that I didn't have to take a cab to the office!  And, they even came and picked me up -- now that deserves mad props.  The workout room is sufficient, and had I known about the pool I would have brought my swimsuit, although I might not have had time to use it.  My only complaint is that the prices at the Starbucks were too high -- $8 for a coffee, small yogurt, and banana.  The yogurt had a mark up of over 300% at $3 a pop.  But the shuttle and the friendly staff redeem it in my opinion.

I thought this was a decent Marriott (I haven't been lucky lately with them).  The room was an okay size and they upgraded me to one with a balcony, but it was way too hot to sit outside.  This one has the large flat panel tv, but it was placed such that you couldn't see it from the pivoting desk, unlike most Marriotts.  It was odd watching TV in a mirror while I worked from the desk.

Room service for lunch was very good, the chicken wrap was fresh and had some spice to it.

Tempura shrimp not tempura. Not a good value for the amount of food. Bloody Mary not good. I had a sweet tea and they mixed it up with regular tea on my refill.  Normally that's no big deal, but we were literally the only customers at the time.  Bad customer service

So my overall assessment is that it's a decent hotel. It's not the best Marriott I've been to but it could be worse. The folks working in the Lobby were nice though should be coached to not have gum in their mouth when working behind the counter. The room was small an the bathroom was even smaller (we had a standard room with king bed). The walls were thin and we could hear the conversations of people walking by. The bed was super comfy and the cleaning service did a good job at tidying up. There was a shuttle service to basically go anywhere you want such as the football stadium, bars, restaurants, and shopping. That was very convenient. The fitness room was ok, it's your standard fitness equipment but could use an update. The USB ports were corroded and therefore unusable, and the bathrooms didn't have toilet paper. Overall it's a decent hotel if you are there for a quick trip and need a convenient hotel. I wouldn't want to vacation here.

I normally avoid hotel restaurants like the plague.  Our business meeting went over, and at 9:50 p.m., we only had Blue, their cafe, as an option for our table of eight.  My grandmother was from Florida and she told me the two things I should obey: always dress in linen, and always stick to the Cuban or "grouper" side of the menu.  I want to go on record that I had one of the best Cuban sandwiches ever here; two-fisted in size; perfectly made. Porky goodness kissing pickles. Spoken like a true pork hound.

First and foremost in a hotel I need a clean, comfortable room in which I can get a decent nights sleep. If this condition is not met no matter how great the hotel is otherwise I cannot give it a good review. This was the case on our recent visit to this Marriott. The hotel itself is very nice- a sparkling lobby, friendly desk staff, an on site restaurant with a nice breakfast buffet. They have an indoor/outdoor heated pool and hot tub. It isn't in the best neighborhood, there is a strip club across the street, but I'm told most of Tampa is this way.

The room was clean and modern and appeared to be newly renovated. The bathroom was on the small side but otherwise nice. I found the bed to be fairly comfortable but my husband had pillow issues. The problems started when we tried to sleep (don't they always?!?). The AC was set at 69 when we got in but it felt warm so we nudged it down to 67. After hitting the pool it still felt stuffy. This was a warm March day and we were wearing bathing suits but were warm in a room that was supposedly 67? We cranked the AC down to 62 (the max) and tried to sleep. This is when the real trouble started... The walls were paper thin. I could hear when someone below armed their car alarm. And located right along this main street we were delighted by the sounds of trucks, sirens, airplanes and motorcycles racing all night long. And you would think we were on one of the lower levels, wouldn't you? Well, we were on the 12th floor!! Second from the top. I couldn't imagine how loud the lower levels would be! Some white noise in the room would have been nice, like a fan. And the room stayed warm and stuffy all night. Obviously the AC was not working properly. We let the staff know when we checked out the next day and they apologized and gave us a $25 refund. But even if the AC was fixed I wouldn't stay in this hotel again due to the noise.

Excellent soup and salads at the Blue Bistro restaurant downstairs at the Marriott Westshore in Tampa. I highly recommend a cup of conch chowder (which is a very large serving)!

Had a morning meeting here over breakfast at Bistro Blue, and it was quite good! Four different cheeses (including Reggiano, which should take over for anything as the staff of life), a little ham, and some Canadian bacon on the side. It was slow, so the wait staff was very attentive. In fact, you could argue that two guys eating breakfast over laptops at that hour probably don't want much distraction. Sometimes it's almost better to ease up on the friendly in these cases, but of course too much service is still better than not enough.

The prices certainly aren't cheap, and I'm not sure I'd want to be eating there all the time, but I was pretty impressed for a hotel restaurant.

Only stayed one night in Feb 2013.  Got in pretty late, and the front desk was lovely.  Just had to call the front desk from the airport and they sent a free shuttle, which took about ten minutes to arrive.  Pretty sweet!  The room was well situated.  The bathroom was extremely small, but fine.  The shower was SUPER POWERFUL, which felt awesome, but also very loud and screechy.  Still felt good after a cross country flight.  I got room service for dinner, and it was awful.  Like cold, undercooked pizza, ugh.  Serious lack of vegetarian items, but hey, it is the South.  The bed was nice and I passed the eff out.  Breakfast was fine.  WiFi was expensive, and I had to pay individually for each device, so for my laptop and my iPad.  Lame. But overall, not too bad.

I  had to meet a vendor here for a business meeting. The special room at the top for Gold members was very nice and made for a great setting to conduct business (that's until a bazillion ppl came in for the free food and drinks)

My room was clean, the bed was ever so comfy and my only complaint was the noise. I could hear too much outside (I was on 10th floor, what gives) as well as I was close the elevator so I heard too much of what was saId by groups getting on and off elevator.

All in all, I'd stay here again!

Very accommodating staff - one of the friendliest hotels I've ever been to. Was offered bottled water any time I was in the lobby, they have free shuttle vans that will drop you off and pick you up anywhere within a relatively close area, and the guy behind the desk even said he would keep the pool open for me after it was supposed to close.

Classy hotel in the lobby and rooms. Smiling crew all the time. Had dinner in their restaurant. Had good meal. My biggest complaint us their consciege lounge service. I was invited to their 14th floor lounge area for breakfast. Breakfast offerings were limited to just eggs & grits. Then cut fruits. Not good at all for a hotel of that caliber. Either you please your guests in the lounge area or you simply do not offer breakfast. I am comparing with the Marriot on Augusta national drive by Orlando international airport. Their lounge food service is impeccable. Good & real breakfast. Excellent happy hour offerings. Happy crew up there too. West shore could do better given the competition around them from Hilton & the Sheraton.

This hotel was very conveniently positioned in Tampa. Lots of restaurants and highway access nearby. Staff was nothing short of five star.  Very professional and accommodating. The rooms?  Well they need a little work. Beds were very uncomfortable. Normally I would omit this fact but we were here with a volleyball team and parents and players alike shared the same sentiment. Soft and saggy. Bathrooms were small and dated though the shower heads have been updated with rainfall heads which I love. Pool was just ok and workout room was small with some newer equipment and some broken equipment. All of the facilities were clean. Overall, I wouldn't avoid this hotel but if another more refined property presented I would choose it instead.

This is a category 3 Marriott property which puts it in the average category.  By the outside visual and location, I think the rating is spot on.

However, I have to note the outstanding service I received on a recent brief stay.  From the front desk at check in to the staff in the restaurant and the concierge lounge and the shuttle drivers, everyone, without exception, was courteous, attentive, competent, and went above and beyond in more than one occasion.   The level of service I received was on par with the much more upscale brands.   Kudos to management!!

I am giving 4 because the staff is really nice and it is clean but it needs a remodel. All in all it is an airport hotel so jut staying one night. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and that's great! A good cup of coffee before an early flight is a must.  They do have an outdoor pool that is very pleasant as well. The shuttle runs from 4:30 am. However I did have to take a cab when I arrived at 1am  on my inbound flight.

I liked this Marriott. Nice restaurant on site and they have happy hour which is always appreciated and needed. Rooms are quiet, big enough and clean. Concierge food is nothing special but you have many options to grab a bite in the area. Staff is friendly and try to make your stay the best possible.

This hotel was about average, but I rated it a 3 because you pay just as much as a better place, but it's just an average hotel.

basically what I'm trying to say is that this hotel falls in with all the other average hotels in the area. Nothing really stands out here.

I travel about 40% of the year for my job and when I tell you I have never encountered any infestations in my hotel room I am not exaggerating. I am being brutally honest when I say a bug crawled out from underneath the pillow on my bed last night it nearly gave me a heart attack. After recording the bug crawling around and snapping photos of what I later found out was a bed bug I could have lost my mind.

I was relo to another marriott close by but the hotel refuses to pay for any of my items to be cleaned/ steamed! I rate my experience here a 1 because bed bugs are a  serious and easily transferable matter and the hotel management negated my documentation of this issue, my back is covered in bites, my belonging are potentially exposed and I am left to foot the bill- unacceptable...

I like this hotel and it was very reasonably priced. A peculiar thing happened when we went to the lounge. My wife and I checked in thru Yelp and received a Yelp free drink. When I went to use it, they said it was fake and they had nothing to do with it. I was a bit upset with their explanation and walked out. The manager followed me out and apologized, explained that Yelp does their own marketing and nothing to do with the hotel, but still offered to buy us a drink. We accepted the apology and eventually left a tip which covered the cost of the drink as well as purchased several more plus food. This manager avoided a potentially bad review of the lounge and ultimately the hotel.

The only good thing about this hotel is the shuttle bus that takes you anywhere in a 2 mile radius of the hotel and picks you back up.  The drivers are all amazing.  As for the hotel itself I have never sneezed so much in my life.  They do not do a good job at cleaning the rooms and the carpets.  On the first day here we left our room around 9 am and came back later that evening and the room was not cleaned yet.  We would have gone to another hotel but everything was booked due to a convention in town.  The gym equipment as well as the chairs by the pool need cleaning. The Starbucks closes at 10 am which is absurd. Overall great staff but the hotel is bad sanitary wise

Where do I start? The only good things about this hotel are the shuttle drivers being so nice and the free booze from a yelp check in. Otherwise, I will never stay here again.

We arrived late, after midnight. Walked in and they reimbursed our cab fee, which was great. They checked us in, and we proceeded to ask for some vending machines or food options. Nothin. We hadn't eaten in hours and there isn't even a bag of chips available to eat. Instead they mentioned a shell station across the street that's open 24 hours. As a young female, walking anywhere at 1am, especially with a local strip club parked across the street, was not a smart choice. So I ended up just going to bed.

It's dirty. I dropped a coin and made the mistake of looking under my bed. Needless to say, my coin stayed under the bed. Not only that, my room smelled like "potty". I wish there was a better way of wording it, but "potty" is literally the perfect description. It's not a good thing.

Came into town to attend a football game at the Buc's stadium. We took the shuttle there and had directions where to go upon completion of the game and that we'd be "taken care of". As the game ended, it began to downpour along with plenty of thunder and lightning (which struck several people in the parking lot sadly) Little did we know, the pickup is about a mile from the stadium. No biggy, a mile walk in the rain to get to the shuttle. We can handle it. Until we got there and no shuttle was anywhere in sight for over 45 minutes. So we stood in the rain, considered walking another mile back to the hotel, and eventually just found a cab and split the cost of it with several other guests waiting for the same shuttle. The worst part? Walking back into the hotel, soaking wet, and being greeted with giggles and smiles rather than an apology? A reimbursement for the cab? Ok.

Just to top it all off, I had noticed the front desk had given some cold waters to a guest the first night we had arrived. I figured it was a normal courtesy, considering we already get a couple in our room. (We had chosen not to have our room cleaned, so these were not replaced) So upon returning from dinner, I stopped by the front desk to ask for a couple of waters and they directed me to the vending machines.

Overall, this experience sucked and I won't ever be coming back here. The customer service is horrible. If it wasn't for their shuttle drivers being total sweethearts, I'd be giving them 1 star. Stay at one of the other hotels around here. There are tons of options.

Stayed the night here due to being bumped from a flight. Perfect way to end a great vacation, actually, and that is a testament to the hotel. Lobby not too impressive, but the pool area, the Blue Bistro lounge (ice cold beers on a warm evening, lots of fellow travelers to trade stories with, good menu), the welcoming room, the room nice amenities, and the superb west-facing view from the wall of windows (airport, water, etc.) were great. Iced water vessel, towels, and apples put on a cart outside of main entrance for returning A.M. joggers. Nice touch. Indoor/outdoor pools with beautiful plantings just beautiful and perfect temp and length for swimming laps. Gym is kind of tight but very well outfitted. King-sized, pillow-top bed was luxurious, room decorated with Art Deco-goes modern theme, large and light-filled bathroom, very good-sized shower, lots of sweet bathing gels, facial soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion to choose from, large-screen-TV, complimentary water bottles share space with the usual in-room coffee maker. It was all good!

Just your average Marriott property - standard furnishings, small bathrooms, and a nice pool area. The staff is nice and there is a convenience store at the Shell across the street that has a good selection of snacks and beverages. Room service breakfast was excellent (and reasonably priced). Free parking is a plus. Overall not particularly luxurious but close to some decent steakhouses and convenient to airport.

I was visiting someone who was staying there and had the opportunity to sit in the pool area and through the ballroom area. The pool area is clean and very well maintained. The outdoor area has small amount of seating for the size of the hotel. The pool flows from the outside to the indoor section which is a very nice feature.

Carpets were kind of dated walking through the lobby's but were clean and well maintained.

Parking was plentiful and easy access.

When my sister checked in to the restaurant there a Yelp offer came up which they said they had not authorized. They honored it but said they did not place the offer with Yelp. Just an FYI if interested in going there.

All around good hotel. Nothing crazy.

Very clean hotel. Bathrooms are clean and commen area is nice. Like other reviews said older Marriot but for the price it was fine. Had a miss communication with staff regarding continental breakfast, But staff took care of it with little hesitation. Rooms are smaller and had a slight smell but the worst part of the room was the pillows! Very thick hard pillows that I couldnt even use.

Because of my job I do some business with the Tampa Marriott Westshore.  They normally have customer appreciation for those they work with.  Last week they had a St Patrick's day themed luncheon.

The lunch was excellent!  We had corn beef cooked and seasoned just right with steamed cabbage.  They had a Shepherds  pie, green beans and salad.  The lemonade and Ice tea were the perfect shade of green.

The dessert I could have done without the lemon cheesecake tasted frozen.

I was also there for a holiday special at Christmas and the food was great then as well.

The hotel was updated a few years ago and the suites are nice.  When we have speakers in town we normally house them at one of the Marriott properties and we are always pleased with their excellent customer service.  Some of the break out rooms are dated but overall the experience here is wonderful
