Normally, the Westin brand is an upscale business hotel providing clean rooms with all the amenities you could want. Not this one. First, if you aren't doing business at the convention center, don't stay on Harbour Island. Nothing is in walking distance and there is nothing to do. There was food on the floor of our room, coffee maker was filthy, the toiletries were scarce as they failed to offer a shower cap or hand lotion, and overall, we may as well have been at a Holiday Inn. I've stayed at the Westin San Francisco - fabulous - in Seattle - Fabulous, and NY City - great for a NY hotel. This one needs updating and new management - Fast!

I stayed here in 2007 and I remember it as a very nice hotel.  I expected it had been kept up but it is not what you would expect a Westin to be.  Like other guests, I was disappointed.  There is an additional $15/day self-parking fee as well as a $12.95/day internet access fee so be sure to add that to your room cost.  Breakfast is also not included.  If you can get a better rate at the Embassy Suites nearby, stay there.  It is a newer hotel, very well maintained, and includes a buffet breakfast and free internet.   The Marriott which is also a block away is another option (until this hotel is renovated).
From the moment I walked into the hotel from the parking garage there was an unpleasant odor of moisture and musk.  The elevators are worn, the floor tile cracked, the tiles elevator floors were filthy, and the wooded panel extremely scratched - a horrible first impression.  Even the up/down elevator buttons in the lobby are heavily scratched.  The up button does not light up.
The front desk attendant who greeted me was wonderfully kind and professional.  This helped soften my disappointment.  Check-in was quick.  I was even allowed to occupy the room before check-in time which is welcomed perk and much appreciated.
The hallways carpets are worn, stained, and visibly torn.  I have never stayed at a Westin with the common areas in such poor condition.  The carpet in the lobby area was similarly worn and parts were torn.  The furniture is dated.
The actual room (820) was a good size and had a view of the canal and part of Tampa Bay, in addition to overlooking the parking lot and garage.  You could see the pool below which was extremely small and not what you would expect of a resort.
The kind-sized bed was comfortable.  The linens were clean but also visibly well used.  The bathroom had a granite counter and a basic shower/bathtub.  The entryway and bathroom had a clean and light colored ceramic tile which was very pleasant.  The toiletries were nice (not brand-name high end though) but I had to ask for shampoo and soap (which were missing).  The bathroom had plastic wrapped cups but if you want glass there were two glasses with the ice bucket.  However, the ice bucket did not have the usual sanitary plastic bag.  When I asked for one I was told it was no longer provided which I found highly unsanitary.  No bathrobes.  The towels were fluffy, appeared to be relatively new, and clean-smelling.  The bathroom was clean and the fixtures were shiny and worked perfectly.  There was sign of mildew in the bathtub corners which could have been easily removed by the maid with Clorox.  The water pressure in the bathroom basin was excellent but the water pressure in the shower was so poor that I had to ask for an engineer to check the shower head.  When I returned after dinner, the shower head had been changed and the water pressure was acceptable although not excellent.  Again, the maid should have checked to ensure the showerhead was clean and the water pressure adequate.  The problem may have been with caulk build-up and poor maintenance/cleaning.  Again, not what one would expect from what Hotwire and others label as the only four-star hotel in downtown Tampa.  I deserves two starts at most (until it is refurbished).
The bedroom was spacious.  The drapes were in excellent shape although visibly worn.  The furniture was also well-used but acceptable (had this been anything but a Westin).  The internet connection worked well.  There were two plugs on the large working desk which were perfect to connect the laptop and the phone charger.  The flat screen LCD TV worked perfectly and had an ample choice of channels.  The carpet in the room was clean without any tears or stains. The did not have an unpleasant smell like the entryway, the hallways, and the elevators.  There were an ample number of drawers and the closet space was normal but well lit.  I liked the Starbucks coffee packets and machine provided in the room.  There was also a working safe inside the closet for valuables.
Adding the extra costs to the Hotwire room cost, I should have stayed elsewhere, either at the Embassy Suites, Marriott, or the Residence Inn which are all nearby.  The location of the Westin is excellent.  Once it is refurbished it will be a superb place to stay however I would never call it a resort because the resort facilities such as the pool and gym are extremely small and dated.

This hotel looks nice from the outside, but that's it.  As soon as getting off on our floor (6th), we were welcomed by a foul odor, something along the lines of old cheese mixed with dirty socks.  This smell was there the duration of our stay.  The room itself was clean enough, but was quite small.  We had the A/C cranked down to 65 degrees at night, but both of us still woke up sweating, so I'd say the cooling system isn't very efficient.  Then the worst part - the soundproofing.  We were awaken in the middle of the night by people walking down the hallway, talking/yelling.  It was so loud and so clear, it actually sounded like we had no door to our room at all.  We were then at their mercy of when we could go back to sleep.  One of the most important aspects of a hotel for me is soundproofing...how much is my comfort dependent upon how loud others around me are?  This hotel failed that test miserably.  Between the smell, the poor A/C efficiency, and the noise, I was thoroughly disappointed.  Oh, on top of that, they charge $15/day just to park.  I can see maybe $5/day, but $15?  No, I won't be staying here again.

Well, unfortunately, this is probably the worst Westin I have ever stayed at. I'd been here before when the property was still run by Wyndham, and had a better time. The setting still looks very nice, but the building is getting long in the tooth and really needs a renovation. Floors were cracked and chipped, trim was missing, and even the elevator buttons were so old the paint had worn off and the indicator lights no longer worked. I was assigned a disappointing room on the third floor overlooking a roof vent outside and little else. Furnishings were typical Westin...minimalist but elegant. There was a flat screen TV, but the picture was consistently blurry and snowy. The minibar had not been refilled by the time I checked in, and the light was constantly on. The real disappointment was the bathroom where there was no "Heavenly Shower"...there was one shower head with so little pressure that the stream of water could not even reach the end of the tub! And even though the size of the bathroom was quite big, they had one of those damned,  round-seated minitoilets that I could barely fit on! For a four day stay, I never once got new shampoos/conditioners, nor did I ever get a newspaper! To add insult to injury, even though I am a longtime Starwood Preferred member, I was dismissed in a perfunctory manner when I requested late checkout! There is a hefty daily charge if you want internet access or if you just want to use the two computers in the business center (unless you are just trying to print out your boarding passes). Unfortunately, neither computer would let me print out my boarding passes. To be fair, the "Heavenly Bed" was just that, and the room service was outstanding...the food arrived piping hot and was surprisingly good...standouts included the lobster bisque, caesar salad with garlic-butter shrimp, and cowboy ribeye. Nevertheless, my overall experience was terrible and I do not plan on returning.

i don't think this is the flagship westin.  just sayin'.   but, it's very serviceable.  the rooms are nice.  the views from the room are awesome.  the pool is not.  getting to the pool is flat-out lame.

watch out for the absolute douche-fest that goes on immediately next door on the weekends.  jackson's bistro morphs into a host of horribly obnoxious clubs, attracting dudes even the jersey shore crew wouldn't be caught dead with.

Absolutely AMAZING! I've been to Bern's, I've been to Charley's, to Outback, to Ivaroni's, to making my own filets. The taste of the filet at 725 South WAS SO UNBELIEVABLY DELISH! What a great experience. I was very sketchy at first of ordering due to the restaurant being totally dead. There was only one person there eating soup.. My boyfriend insisted we proceed due to the reviews he read. The reviews were right. Steven was like our personal waiter. He is the best waiter I have ever had. Steven has a great personality, he is just awesome. Steven reminds me of a waiter in a movie that is how good he is. He went above and beyond for us. My boyfriend hates vegetables but will eat corn. There was no corn on the menu and Steven found some corn for him. I asked if I could get cheese or something in the mashed potatoes and Steven put bacon and cheese, WOW they were SO YUMMY. Steven made the experience 100x better, and the filet to die for. Also, 725 South has huge windows with a great view of downtown Tampa, as well as a water view.

What 3 stars are you joking! Ok I'm serious everyone, if you travel, if you have been to other hotels, then you will know this is a great hotel. I love the location, it's just next to the bay, close to everything. If you like nightlife it's right next to a restaurant/club Jacksons. The staff was amazing, the host that got me my card Jessica was excellent. I hope there is only one Jessica that works there because her boss needs to get her a raise or promote her. She really took her time with me as I'm pretty darn picky. I didn't want lower level room, I didn't want a bad view, I wanted a tub, I didn't to be next to an elevator. She was so nice and accommodating I felt like a vip. Believe me if you stay here you well not be displeased. The bed is super comfortable they call it the heavenly bed and it was. The shower was great as well, a lot of pressure, makes everything better when you sleep well and bath well. Oh I asked for late check out after a trip meeting and they gave me a 2pm late check out. I will always stay here when I get to Tampa. You should as well. I actually stayed an extra day just because it was so relaxing!

I stayed at here for a conference, and have to admit, it was indeed a nice experience!

Each night, the lobby is bustling with some sort of "Guest Appreciation" surprise.  When I arrived, I was greeted with 4 freshly made dumplings (soooooo good after being on a plane!).  The next night, there was a Wii bowling tourney happening (unfortunately, I was unable to partake in such an experience), and the night after that were fresh mojitos.  Cute ideas all around.

The rooms are "well appointed" as hotel websites like to say. The beds were comfy, and everything was very clean.  Although not cheap, the food at "The Bar" was also pretty good -- and the drinks were also pretty decent for hotel-bar drinks.

The location was probably the best feature; it was only about a 5 minute walk to the Conference Center, but staying across the harbor made it seem like you were not in the fishbowl that is typical of large conferences.  It was also right next to Jackson's, which had great drinks & sushi (more on that later...).

    Overall, thumbs up Westin!

DO NOT STAY HERE!  I just returned home from a 2 night stay at the Westin and there are too many horror stories to count them all!  I was staying at the hotel due to a conference at the convention center, and the only good thing I can say is that it is within walking distance to the building.

I was staying with a group and we had reserved 17 rooms.  There was an issue with every room!  Whether it was being told there was no room ready for us (at 5:45 when check in is at 3 pm), they lost the reservation, or BED BUGS (yes, I said bed bugs), it was the most unpleasant stay!  The personnel there lacked basic friendliness and were often unwilling to help you with your requests.

BTW, if for whatever reason you decide to stay here (you are better off sleeping in a cardboard box on the street), leave plenty of time to get the elevator.  I had to wait 5-10 minutes (no exaggeration) each time to get one!

Lastly, make sure you add in $15 parking per day for their very small parking garage under the building.  There isn't even enough parking and I had to circle the lot multiple times to find a spot.  You are better off using the valet, but who knows how much that would cost?

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this Westin!

Well I was slightly disappointed b/c on the online booking sites (expedia, travelocity, priceline, and hotels.com ) this hotel was rated at 4 stars.

This hotel was really only a 3 star rating. I think that if i knew that from the start I wouldn't have been as disappointed. The Westin is clean, safe, and very comfortable. However, when I was there this past weekend for a seminar, the folks who paid full price at the adjacent competitor hotels were A LOT NICER!

Yet I can't really complain since I priceline'd it and only paid $60/night, where my colleagues paid anywhere from $110 - $150/night. This is a good 3-star hotel. I've stayed at the Renaissance in Boston now that was 4 STARS!

The service was fabulous, overall, it was a good place to stay. Just don't expect it to be 4 STARS. And as usual, everything costs something so expect to pay $15/night for parking, and for internet.

The hotel is nicer than perhaps it is given credence though the layout is a bit unusual. You enter on the ground must go up to the second to check in and them take the elevators to your room. Furthermore, If you want to go to the pool you must go to the third floor on the elevator then down a hall to another elevator (which is not marked as well as it could be) to get down to the pool area. The pool area once you do get there and feels much more secluded than many similar hotel pools. As for the rooms they are clean, spacious and boast a number of resort style amenities.

In short: I wouldn't use this hotel for a weekend getaway, the general area doesn't provide enough of a draw. However, if I needed a room for a night before a cruise, or for a meeting at the convention center this is a great spot. Especially for conferences it that allows you to feel like you've gotten away from the conference, even if in reality you are only a few hundred feet feet or so across the bridge.

The Westin in Tampa is one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in.  And once all the remodeling is finished (which it might be already), it'll be even more fabulous than it was when I stayed here.

I lucked out and got one of the recently remodeled rooms, complete with flat-panel tv, huge comfy beds, and a deluxe bathroom with plenty of space.  The only downside was that there was no balcony, even though we were overlooking the water.

I stayed here for 4 nights, and while not exactly cheap, it was on par with all the other hotels in the area, and a hell of a lot nicer.  Plus, it was within walking distance to the Tampa Convention Center, which is where I needed to be during my stay in Tampa.

There's a restaurant on the premises, and the bar next door also serves the restaurant's menu.  The food was pretty good, but nothing spectacular.  I had a pretty good blackened grouper sandwich there.

One of the super-nice Westin touches was the displays of green apples in the lobby area (they're real and free to take), and the fruit-infused water also available in the lobby (the strawberry was my favorite).

If you're headed to Tampa, and in need of a nice, relaxing place to stay, the Westin is it.

Awful. I asked for two things during my stay here, and they did neither. If a hotel can't remeber to do a wake up call, they might as well close for good.

Rooms are average at best, internet is expensive and they didn't tell me the shuttle to the airport would cost $25. I guess they though it would be good to surprise me.

    Do not stay here.

It's a bit older but the rooms have been renovated where it really counts. Views are beautiful and the staff from valet to check in was amazing. Great location. Really above and beyond staff all very genuine. I think Coy at their front desk is my new favorite person. The only reason the hotel doesn't get five stars is it needs Westin to throw money towards a real renovation ... Starting with carpet and a fresh coat of paint in the hallways and ceiling. Just an idea if anyone from corporate is reading this!

Considering all the times we've stayed at this hotel I can't believe I never wrote a review! I admit I am a Westin junkie. The Westin Tampa is in the most convenient spot for getting to downtown Tampa, the airport, Clearwater and St Pete. The staff is very friendly. This may sound weird but Westins are the best smelling hotels! Their signature scent is lovely and its in their toiletries. That being said don't leave behind any leftovers. I'm picky about hair products but I use the Westin products. The body lotion is to die for and a perfect purse size. You can order their products on line as well. The restaurant at the Westin Tampa us awful though but don't dismay! They have a great Starbucks and The Chart House is right across the street.

I am here for business meetings and a convention.

First night here at the Westin (THIS is a Westin? Really?). Wedding downstairs was lovely, unfortunately followed by HOURS of partying by the wedding party, including an obnoxious DJ. Music blaring, and you can hear it through the sliding glass door. Management could care less, I guess, about guests because I suppose they made a buck off the wedding party.

To add to the noise, NOISY bratty kids SCREAMING up and down the hall. I called the front desk, but apparently they didn't bother to come up and quiet down the noisy neighbors SLAMMING doors and screaming.  Where's the soundproofing, folks?

I stayed on the 12th floor, the top floor, view of the channel (meh, so-so view ... can see some water, but also the oil refinery storage tanks). "Heavenly Shower" was broken (had to call maintenance). Balcony is not for standing on (tiny, odd for a Florida hotel) but when you opened the sliding glass door, the railing was shaky! Whoa! Small rooms, too .

Pleasant front desk staff, but apparently they could care less about noise, because even after talking to a supervisor (no MANAGER on duty on a Friday night - with a wedding party -- really??), no change in noise.

Room service is expensive (they automatically include a service fee AND a 21% tip). Food was so-so, edible, but sort of too well-done (grouper with lumpfish on top). Valet parking is $20 per day. Tiny swimming pool.

NO free internet ($12,.95 per day) means this hotel is NOT "business friendly" despite being next door to the Tampa Convention Center. In this day and age, its not excusable.

They signed me up for their Starwood Preferred Guest program, but if THIS is a Westin, if this is a Starwood hotel, no thanks. I'll go back to Marriott or Hyatt - or, for that matter, Courtyard or Hampton Inn or any place else that treats customer's need for sleep seriously. If I wanted to party all night long ... but then again, gee, all of the hotel guests are not invited to the party, are they?

This is an OK place.  The location is probably a four star score by itself, but some of the typical hotel pitfalls drag it down to a three.

We were staying on a Sunday night for the Flyer's game.  Turned out the team had stayed there the night before and we got to meet a bunch of the guys.  But I'm getting off track.

Parked in the underground garage. $18.  Typical.  Tried to check in at around 1pm.  No availability.  Typical.  But we will call you as soon as your room is ready.  Mitch at the front desk was nice and helpful.

So at 3pm, Mitch calls and we head back.  He hands us our keys and a couple of free drink coupons for the inconvenience.  Nice touch.

Up to the room on the 6th floor.  Elevators are tired and worn as is the carpet in the hallways and rooms.  Windows are dirty, and overall it just didn't have that sparkly clean feel.

The bed was comfortable and the room was adequate.  No way I would ever pay full price but if you can get it for 60% off like we did, It is livable.

Best thing here is the location.  Walk just about everywhere.

I have to disagree with many people here.

I stayed in 1232. The largest suite in the hotel. 1800 sq foot with wrap around view of tampa. The fixing and etc werent of super luxury hotel but i also wasnt paying top dollar for it. It was what i was expecting. Huge room and nice view.

The staff was INCREDIBLY friendly. Holy crap the customer service was AMAZING. The catering and group sales here did an phenomenal job. We had 17 guys coming from all across the country for a party and they were more than accommodating.

However one problem was that i think because we were in a huge suite. they assumed we made a lot of noise. We got a few noise complaints when we literally were not even in the room. One time we got a noise complaint because the ppl next to us were being loud. That's not really fair but overall we had a good stay without incident.

I stayed here during a conference, work related. It was a very dissapointing experience compared to other Westins. The rooms was very outdated, I could not find a plug for my cell phone and finally found additional plugs underneath the desk. They had been added likely for technology, however, a very inconvenient location! The rooms need to be badly updated and modernized. The carpet in the hallway was disgusting, worn out and dirty beyond belief. The room was not cleaned properly and one day it was not cleaned at all! I notified the front desk of this and they did offer to clean it but it was late at night and I was just going to bed, so I just requested toilet paper (which was almost run out) and went to bed, checked out the next day. i was told the valet would drive me to the convention center, which was important as I had an injured foot and couldn't do the walk. A few times they were busy and sent the blue van, which I had to pay. Overall, i would not recomend this hotel to anyone~

I have always stayed at the Westin specifically for the excellent service at the restaurant. The servers are always friendly and professional treating me with nothing but the utmost courtesy. I come in for breakfast to the buffet every morning during my stay and there is always this one beautiful oriental waitress who serves my coffee and gives me the best service I could look for in a 5 Star restaurant. All the servers are always staying busy and working hard to my outlook. However the Asian one should be given a raise, her work ethic is beyond superb.

Normally I am in a hotel room to sleep and shower.  I'm not too worried about the rest of the bells and whistles.  But when I bring my lovely lady with me for a long time friends wedding, then I'm looking for something a bit special.

The folks at the Island Harbour Westin nailed it!!!  As soon as we checked in, the young man at customer service was efficient, positive and went above and beyond.  We ended up on the 12th floor with a lovely view of the channel and where the wedding would take place.

From there we made our way to the bar... To get ready for the wedding, and the service there was exceptional as well.

The hotel put on a fantastic event, solid food, great customer service = Satisfied customer who will be back!!!

I was very impressed with the hotel.  I get what other people were saying, but being an older hotel, it is still nice.  The room was nice, beds are comfortable, great shower, and the people could not be nicer.  The guy at the bar was great.  I had a few issues getting into my room, but they moved me to a nicer room so no complaints.  I look forward to coming back.  They are planning a lot of renovations, so that should also be nice.

The view and location would have this a 5 start hotel, if the name lived up to the Westin name I normally love.

I was here for a conference... and while the rooms and set up were rather nice, everything else left a lot to be desired.

I was on the 6th floor, and the elevators were broken. On more than one occasion I had to take the stairs, which wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't in heals.... or if I didn't have my luggage to carry...

So, i pay every day for internet usage , and when i leave the floor to another floor- say the ones where the conference is, they wi-fi is blocked.  Which is frustrating as all you know what, especially when you have work to do WHILE attending the conference... i mean, i REALLY need to go back to my room for the NO FREE internet that many hotels now offer standard.  Ridic--  and the staff acted like it was my problem to figure out how to get internet.

Also, lacking some basic convenencies... like a beverage machine on each floor-  which would have been nice when you are in your pjs and want something to drink- and don't want to wait 45 minutes for the BROKEN elevator - or take 6 flights of stairs to get to the little snack place...

If it wasn't for the valet staff- this would have been an epic fail in my books.  They were overly pleasant and accomodating and every meeting with them was GREAT....

One last thing, as part of my conference I was told that the parking was discounted to $15 but was still charged $20...   wasn't even worth arguing about....

The Westin Harbour Island is an excellent option for business travelers and weekend vistors alike. I fall on the business traveler side of the spectrum and have had nothing but good luck with the rooms and the service.  I will say that this is not the newest hotel I have ever stayed at, but the location is good (right near Channelside and Downtown) and the folks who staff the hotel are superb. They really execute well on the smaller elements - speedy check-ins, efficient room service, and personal name recognition at concierge all add to the general "go-the-extra-mile" feeling that make all the difference.

Bottom Line: While there are newer options in the Tampa Bay area, this is my personal choice for all my business travel to the area.

Back at the Westin for a night, back on the 12th floor, and the room still stinks like mould. Still a great view though! Some things never change...

Note that there is a drilling sound above Room 1216 that sounds like a cross between a jackhammer and a root canal. Avoid this room.

I asked the front desk about it and they said they'll send an engineer, but no one ever showed up.

I had read some reviews on Yelp and other sites but still decided to stay at the Westin Harbour Island because my husband and I truly want to check out the city living in the Downtown Tampa area.

I can tell you that we JUST got home 2 hours ago, and I really want to return next weekend for another night of excellent service and great downtown living.

It started with the friendly Valet staff who informed us right up front that there is a self parking fee vs. a Valet parking fee - this is typical in any city so not a big deal to us.  It happens everywhere we travel and that's just part of the expected cost when traveling to a city's downtown area.

Next our great guest service continued with Justin at the front desk who upgraded us to a higher floor with a wonderful city/water view, and his attention to us was as if we were his only guest of the day to WOW!

Yes - the property is in need of a few face lifts, but it still has the elegant ambience of any Westin we have visited.  In fact, the General Manager of the property provides every guest with a letter explaining their renovations, and he asks for any input and/or suggestions from guests.  (I like that touch - it's proactive, and in this day of social media it's almost a MUST.)

This morning we had excellent service from Sandra in their bistro where brunch was being held, and even though we were her last guest she treated us so kindly and never once did we feel rushed.

Overall a fantastic place with a nice pool area that has a great view PLUS a nice city vibe to it.  Even the view from the fitness room is stunning.

Thanks to the entire Westin Harbour Island Team (and Yes!  I am a real person, a true guest, and I know not one person in the Westin organization to post such a glowing review!!!!) ~

I stayed at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island for three days while at a conference. Westin hotels are one of my favorite hotel chains due to the Heavenly Beds and Baths. Although this Westin probably needs a little bit of upgrading, it was very comfortable. The views of the harbour from my room on the 10th floor were beautiful -both during the day and in the evening. The hotel is located on the Tampa Riverwalk which made for easy access to this well-designed walking path. The pool area was clean and comfortable and had a small bar on site. The staff were friendly and customer-centered. One evening, the fire alarm was activated and we had to step outside of the building for a short time.  Unfortunately, the elevators were disarmed when the alarm was pulled and it took some time to get them fully operational again.  While we waited, management quickly brought complimentary fruit, snacks, and beverages to the lobby for us.  In addition, the staff personally escorted guests to their floors via the service elevator until the lobby elevators were working again. I did eat dinner one evening at "The Bar" in the lobby - I had caprese grilled chicken. I was not impressed - the chicken tasted like it was boiled in water then put on a grill just to get grill marks. Rather than fresh basil, I think it had some sort of basil paste on it.  I do not recommend eating at the hotel. I find most hotels have unremarkable food - this one was not an exception. I would stay at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island hotel again.

I had an absolutely delightful stay at the Westin. We were fortunate enough to stay in a corner suite (with a beautiful 270-degree view of the bay). The room was excellent--so clean! And the room was planned out very well, in regards to enough closet space, functionality of bedroom/bathroom/TVs/etc. The hotel service was lovely, very accommodating and very willing to help provide service to their guests. We felt special and at home.

The actual hotel has many great features as well. We enjoyed a reception at their large banquet hall, which is a beautiful room with excellent decor. The terrace patio was light and airy, a lovely setting. The pool was great--although they do lack a hot tub, which would be nice.

If any improvements can be made:
-Free Wifi (come on, it's 2013)
    -Hot tub by the pool
-there was an unpleasant smell in the parking garage...this could definitely be improved.

Overall, the view, excellent room, and lovely guest services give this hotel a 5/5!

Horrible hotel. Lobby is fancy, but as soon as we stepped out of the elevator to the floor with our room, the disgust set in. Carpet was filthy & there was a bad smell, which continued in the bedroom. We arrived very late due to flight delays, but next morning we decided to leave. We asked the front desk staff about cutting our 4 day trip short & we indicated to them that we had prepaid with Expedia. They told us we'd have to contact Expedia directly. When we called Expedia we were advised that the hotel policy was not to refund us for the unused nights. The Expedia rep spoke with both the hotel manager & director & they were unwilling to waive their "policy". So, we stayed there 1 night & paid for 3. For me, the most appalling aspect of our interaction with the hotel staff, was the fact that they did not at any point ask why we wanted to leave, which spoke volumes. We transferred to the Hilton downtown & the difference was night and day. Do yourself a favor & avoid this hotel, which does not deserve to have the "Westin" in it's name.

This property is still undergoing some renovations, but I am hopeful the final product will be impressive.  The location is ideal for anyone attending the convention center or the Times Forum.  Jackson's bar and restaurant is generally a lively place to go for a drink and the views are impressive from just about everywhere.  Noise in the hotel can be on the higher side as I suspect a number of people stay here to be close to the games and parties, but the hotel is very quick to address issues that might disturb other guests.  It is not the cheapest place in downtown by any means and the general hotel amenities are unremarkable, but you stay at this property for what it is next to, not what they offer directly.

Its Ok and that's it.  There's no free parking just valet or a paid parking garage for the water front shops. The room was fine no major issues, the room slept well wasn't noisy, seemed as clean as can be expected and no strange scents.. There were some small issues....super rusted door hinges, mysterious blue dye smeared all over the front of the shower curtain and the toilet paper holder hook was dangling and handing on for dear life but those aren't major issues.  However, something worth noting is those who are coming in the hotel late/early and not having their hotel key.  We arrived back at the hotel at 4 am (party party party) and the two ppl with the keys let them in the room smh.  We asked someone at the front desk for new/extra keys and he informed us that they were running an audit on all the computers and he couldn't make a new key so we just had to wait.........ummm huh???? There has to be a back up plan.  After my friend went off we were able to get escorted up to our room by security after we were vetting by the front desk. Come and sleep, but always make sure you have the key if you are the responsible one in the group and plan to be out late.

I didn't expect a Westin to nickel and dime me. Pay extra to park, pay extra for internet access in your room, etc.

The place is super confusing to get in and out of. There's a random rental car desk or something on the first floor so you have to go up to the second floor to check in. Then you go down this ramp into a cave of a parking garage with a serious lack of signage to direct you to the hotel.

This place once might have been glorious, but it seems to have fallen into a bit of disrepair. My door was so sticky I had to slam against it with all my body weight for it to open. Although worn, the place seemed clean.

But in the midst of a mediocre room, floating like a plush, white cloud I was immediately drawn to the ultra-comfy king sized bed. I just sank into the pillows and linens like it was feathery quicksand and set a new record with the amount of times I hit the snooze the following morning. (It is rumored that Christopher Nolan conceived the entire plot for Inception after spending one night of magical slumber on a Westin mattress.)

No vegetarian food in the bar/restaurant. They said they could omit meat items from any dish - but I would be charged the same, already high prices. (Nothing really appealed to me anyways.)

I do need to mention that I was pleasantly surprised when the valet handed me a bottle of water and a towel when I returned from my morning run.

BOTTOM LINE: It's all about the bed.

Worst Westin I have stayed in to date.  The hotel is old and dilapidated.  #1 This hotel is kept so cold that I found myself running thru the halls to get to my room and turn the thermostat up to 85 degrees.  #2The night that I checked in, exhausted from working all day I though I would order a chicken caesar salad for dinner.  It was 8pm, and the menu indicated that the chicken would be served warm, except of ordered after 11pm.  When my salad came the chicken was ice cold, you could tell it had just come out Saran Wrap in their refrigerator.  #3 the safe in my room didn't work, but then again it was old looked like it probably wound hold any valuables safe anyway.  #4. All the westin's I've stayed in have a robe in the guest room that is complementary for use during the stay.  This one did not have a robe. And now the best for last #5. I ordered a fruit plate for breakfast this morning, and when I picked the plate off from the tray I felt something gooey on my figures.  When I lifted my hand away there was globs of something on my finger that was the consistency of runny stool (TMI, sorry). I was horrified!  I decided to smell it to make sure that it wasn't what it looked like.  Luckily it smelled like some sort of gravy.  Clearly the plate that I was eating on had barely been washed after last night's dinner service. There were also chunks of beans and meet stuck to the bottom as well.  The pictures say it all in one word... GROSS!!

I recently DJed a wedding reception here and have done many others in my "pre-Yelp" days and I have to say this place is top notch!!

As a venue for weddings, parties or corporate functions, I think this is one of my favorite places to work in.  The hotel itself is very well decorated and clean.  The staff is incredibly friendly.  The coordinator for the wedding was so sweet and thorough at her job without being too overbearing and controlling.  Which is nice!

As a DJ, there is often a difficulty in trying find the best way to unload and load my equipment without blocking the doors or making a guest unhappy.  The valet is usually a good gage on who to ask where to find the service entrances.  I pulled up and asked the valet where I could unload.  He was very friendly and went in to make sure my wedding was in the location he thought it was, so that he could direct me to where I need to go.  This I thought was very nice.  He directed me over to a little side part of the circle and assured me I would be fine there.  I unloaded, took my stuff in and went to park in their very convenient parking garage below the hotel.  Many spaces and an easily accessible elevator to get to the main ballroom.

The reception was great.  The couple had a buffet style lunch and as a courtesy, the hotel manager made sure that all the vendors were allowed to eat something.  The food was great!  I had prime rib and salmon with steamed veggies.

The catering and wait staff were very friendly and prompt from what I could see of the reception.

I have never stayed here as a guest, but if I am ever in the mood for a ritzy staycation...I will be choosing this place first.  It's location is beautiful, right on Harbour Island.  A peaceful serene place to relax for a bit or have a great party!

Grossest hotel I've ever been to! Stayed at the Westin for a concert and Once we got off the elevator to our room we instantly smelled mold. We booked the presidential suite hoping it was going to be nice....the room smelled even worse. It was a mix of a fishy smell and mold. It was horrendous. I go down stairs to let them know and they first offer to have house keeping spray the room (clearly they know this is a problem) I told them the smell was too strong to be masked, the lady at the front desk went to go talk to her supervisor to see what else they can do. Unfortunately the hotel was full so we couldn't change rooms and offered us free parking and $100 off the room. I was fine with that. It's 1:20 AM and we're finally back from the concert. We go to our room and start setting up the pull out bed ready to go to sleep. First of all there were no sheets on the mattress... not even in the closets so we can put them on our selves and worst of all there was a stain on the couch and you could clearly tell it was semen!!!! I was EXTREMELY disgusted!!! I call front desk to let them know about the sheet and the stain. They offered to send room service to clean the stain and put sheets on....okay! After an hour of waiting for room service I go downstairs and show the gentlemen the picture of the stain and he himself knew what stain that was. He said don't worry we're going to comp the room...it was only the right thing to do! Next morning we go and check out. Another man tells me the charge of the room. I told him that they told me the room was comped. He brings out his manager who was extremely rude and didn't honor what they told me that night. Ended up paying $200 dollars to stay in the grossest room. I'll NEVER stay at a Westin again and I'd advise to stay at the Marriott next time you go to tampa! Stay away from this hotel!!!

I stayed at this Westin for 5 nights for a conference. There were some great things about this hotel, but a few negatives. I'll start with the positives.

The location was excellent, especially for business travelers or those who want to be close to downtown. Also a short cab ride to Soho, Hyde Park, and Ybor City (which are all cooler than downtown and Harbour Island). A Publix is also within walking distance, which is great to pick up a few snacks for the room.
The bed was ridiculously comfortable, with soft sheets and nice pillows. I had plenty of towels, and a soft robe. In room Starbucks coffee and tea were nice to have, as was the fridge. Also, the shower had amazing water pressure.

Now for the negatives. The pool area was pretty, but it was a real pain to get to. You have to go to the third floor, then down a long hallway, then to another elevator (which is incredibly slow), only to go down to the first floor. There needs to be an easier way for people to get there. I heard multiple complaints about this. The pool was heated, and at times, was way too warm. It was in the 70s during my stay, and the pool was warmer than that.

My room had a funky mold smell, that was the same on the last day as it was on the first. I didn't complain about it, as I was only in my room to sleep and shower, but it was very strong. Had I spent more time in the room, I would have requested a move.

The bar and restaurant were always EMPTY. We had a drink in the bar a few times, and we were the only people in there. It was so dead, yet the hotel was sold out. A coworker said the breakfast was absolutely disgusting. We finally went over to the Marriott to check out their hotel bar, and all I can say is....wow. It was lively! Sidenote: the Marriott  is on a whole different level, MUCH nicer, cleaner, etc. I wish we had booked there.

The biggest drawback of the hotel: no free wifi!!! It was something crazy like $12.95 per day. I am currently in a Best Western, of much lower quality than a Westin hotel, and they have FAST, free wifi in all rooms. The only explanation I can come up with is that this is probably a hotel that caters to business travelers, so the Westin knows companies will pay for it, so it's an easy way for them to make extra money. I did not pay for the wifi just on principle.

All in all, I had a decent stay, I felt safe and comfortable (except for the mold/musty smell), but the hotel still has a tired feel to it. Redo the bar, restaurant, and get wireless internet! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, but would definitely recommend the Marriott right across the bridge.

We had a wonderful stay at the Westin Harbour Island. Check in was quick, parking was easy, room was clean, and the view was pretty of the water (we were on the 9th floor). We did self parking and the hotel gives you a pass for the garage so it is free. Easy and convenient to New Times Forum (about a 5 minute walk). I would stay again.

My Father in Law received a call 5/31/13 from Tampa General Hospital that there was a possible kidney match for a transplant. Within 6 hours our family was in Tampa, some by air and some by car. I am happy to say he had a successful Kidney Transplant the morning of 6/1/13.

My wife and I needed to make accommodations for him & his wife to stay in the Tampa area for up to five weeks, to be monitored by the transplant specialist. She immediately began searching for local hotels, we chose The Westin in Harbor Island. They offer a Tampa General Hospital Transplant Rate for patients and family recovering from transplants.

Everybody at the Westin has been amazing; it has become our home away from home for the moment. My wife and I have made the trip Friday evenings and stay until Monday afternoon since the surgery. She was worried at first leaving her parents there, but after getting to know the staff at the hotel we can rest assure they are in good care. Being there for a few weeks you expect small things to happen, when the toilet knob broke off we called the concierge and within 5 minutes Wesley from maintenance came up and had it fixed immediately. He was friendly and a pleasure to converse with after his task was done.

Thank you to the Concierge staff: Claudio, Mitchell, Mike, Lauren, Adriana, Anna & Kim. For always being there at our every request, a microwave and mini fridge were offered and brought up to the room. You all have been most helpful answering any question and fulfilling all requests we have had in a timely manner.

One of the main reasons we selected the Westin is because they offer a free shuttle service within a three mile radius. Well Tampa General Hospital and The Transplant center where my father in law must follow up at are within three miles. Ricardo the driver has been amazing with them while my wife and are gone during the week. He takes them from place to place with a smile and even suggests different restaurants for them to eat at in the area.

The Bar & Dining staff has been my favorite, that's because I enjoy drinking and eating more than the average person...LOL We have breakfast in the Westin pretty much daily when I am there. My wife's parents tell me they eat there almost every day during the week. We enjoy starting our day with Sandra, German & Steve. Their attention to detail is unmatched coffee and juice is always fresh & cups are always filled. Steve has even brought me the Sports page in the morning (I guess he noticed it's the only thing I enjoy reading).

I cannot say enough about Paul, Rosa & Ariel who work the Lobby Bar & the Pool Bar. We have had many lunches and dinners there. The food is always served warm and brought out in a timely manner. Most of all there are great people to just sit and converse with. They make you feel welcomed.

The Hotel overall is GREAT, everything is kept clean. The beds are so comfortable to sleep in, especially after a 4.5 hour drive on a Friday night. I have not enjoyed the pool area but it looks relaxing, especially with the bay view. The gym is a little small but has exactly what you need if you want to get a work-out in.

I want to thank the entire Westin staff for making the hotel a home away from home.

Room is musty.  Hallways are in poor condition- stained carpeting, worn walls.  The gym equipment is severely aged and in need of replacement- in fact, the whole room could use an update.  It's a great location and the staff is nice, but the rooms and hallways were a far cry from what I would expect from Westin.

Check in was very smooth. Thank you, Claudio, your helpfulness was appreciated!

The restaurant service was excellent. However, the food was just OK, with french fries WAY too salty.

The room was very pleasantly outfitted and with a nice view. The only strange note was that the chair and hassock seem to have been left over from a few renovations ago.

So, by end of Day One this Westin was a solid 4 stars with me. But, by the end of Day Two, it was down one more star: in over forty years of business travel this Hotel joins a very few that somehow totally failed to clean my room. Now, I don't mean that no clean towels were left for me or no bar of soap. I mean NO ONE had been in the room at all. This speaks volumes about this hotel's management.

Day Three was better: full room cleaning. Also, the buffet food was pretty tasty at our conference.

Terrible hotel. The security guy actually called the police on me because I had a very bad back injury and cannot lie down for long. He would not let me sleep EVEN outside! I was nice to him, but he was rude and condescending, and like a mall cop with some authority. We moved out and went over to the Marriott. The other reviews about the cleanliness and niceness of the hotel are also correct. They even put us in a room next to where the staff came in and out and they would slam and bang the door at all hours, hitting our wall, etc. I complained both nights yet nothing happened to remedy the situation. I HIGHLY suggest that you stay at the Marriott or the Embassy Suites. Both very nice. I will never stay at a Westin again after this experience!!

I haven't even checked in yet, and I'm not impressed.  I called the hotel to adjust something on my reservation, and the girl wouldn't even talk to me... just transferred me to the general number for reservations, and wasn't even friendly about it.  Just sounded annoyed that I had called her.  I had a special rate for an event at the hotel, so the whole deal they have of changing online doesn't work... thus why i called the hotel directly.  Hopefully the stay is a better experience.

Not a big fan of this Westin establishment though it's not entirely their fault.  Let me back up... we picked to stay at the Westin for its location, wanting to visit the Florida Aquarium.  We paid a little extra to stay close and know that we will need to pay for parking.  Upon arrival, the valet line was lined up with numerous guests trying to check in/out etc, so we decided to do self parking.

They have one of the  most messed up self parking layout I've ever seen for a hotel.  We went down to the garage, circled around several times.  Some sections dead end, some were roped off, some had traffic cones in them... it was frustrating.  We finally got a parking space and walking back to the hotel building, there were water dripping, dark and just... well... unpleasant.

The room was ok and the bed comfy.  We may have been unlucky with several events going on that weekend, but every single time we get on / off the elevator that first night, there were one or more drunkie coming in or going out.  I am not exaggerating, it was half scary and half entertaining.  One lady was so drunk, she didn't know which floor the elevator stopped at.  She stepped out on our floor with us, turned 360 a few times, almost spilled her drink, kept asking where she was.... Then at 1 AM, another drunk lady was screaming her head off, yelling at her significant other, who was trying his best to appease her... including saying things like, "it's after midnight, people are sleeping..."

Again, I am not sure if this is the norm for this hotel, but we certainly have some interesting characters we met or heard during our short 2 night stay.

Our room was upgraded for free and they comped one day of parking for us.  During the week they have free appetizers which is great before dinner.  The only downside was that their pool was closed but we were told we can use another hotel's pool.  We had a great experience for the price and we would definitely stay here again if we need to be in Tampa.

Bought room on kayak. We live in Tampa , but wanted to stay in downtown for 4th of July. Connivence was a PRO and the beds were very comfy .
    Now for the CONS:
    Pool needs serious renovating!!!
Hair , bugs and garbage littered the pool deck and water!
    Maid service was poor.
Carpet in all hallways was worn( u could tell it was " pet friendly" )
WORSE part: every night we got ready to go out, our eyes started tearing up& burning, nose was running and we started coughing. We complained to front desk bc we initially thought it was the blow dryer , or iron .  They replaced both of them with new ones.  But then it happened AGAIN the next morning WITHOUT using either appliance..
When we checked out, we told them they might want to check the air quality.. They didn't seem too effected, and did not offer a discount or comp.

    Review on Restaurant inside Westin:

    '725 South'

Even if it is convenient, as in, you're staying at the Westin, DO NOT Eat here!!!!!!

The staff is more concerned with cleaning tables for a line that doesn't exist. Even IF people show up, no one will wait on them!!! It took us 10 min to sit down in a restaurant that is 20% occupied. It took us another 10 to be greeted by waitress. Hell, I gave up on waiting for her to take my order and went to the buffet.

The buffet? Gross. The eggs in a mcDonalds  egg mcmuffin taste gourmet compared to the frothy mess I forced down.

By the time she came to our table, my poor parents were drooling. My mom finally ordered an English muffin, and by the time our waitress came by to tell us she was completely out, my plate of nasty was polished off. Again, I was starving, and needed protein. We had to remind our waitress that muffins were still stocked at the buffet... Duh.

    Just don't, folks.

By far the worst Westin I've ever stayed at. When you walk in, the lobby looks fine. However once you enter the elevator, you'll notice a strange smell. Once the doors open to your floor, you'll see just how run down the place looks. The carpets look like they need some intense cleaning. I had a hotel room on the second highest floor and could not stand to be in my room due to a strong pungent smell. It gave me such a bad headache. Even though I switched rooms to a lower floor, I just felt so uncomfortable in my room.

This hotel needs to be torn down and rebuilt again. I'm guessing that the pungent mold smell is from all the moisture build up over the years.

Nice to get a great night sleep when you're on the road!

I did a priceline name your price for $100 plus $22 tax/fees and $17 for parking totaling $139 for our Tuesday night stay.  We had concert tickets at the Arena and the location couldn't have been better.   Easy walking distance to and from the show.

My issue with this Hotel is that Priceline advertises this property as a four-star hotel. I would say at most it is a 3 1/2 but I would probably list it as a three star.  You can tell it is definitely an older property that has gone through renovations. As stated in other reviews there is a funky smell about the place. The room we stayed in was nicely updated but you could tell it was not a four-star renovation. Small details like the air-conditioning not working properly, the shower not working properly, no paper or pen at the desk, older furniture mixed in with the newer renovated furniture, only one bathroom robe, old towels, dirty windows, etc. All of these details alone are not a big deal however if you add them all together and try to pass the property off as a four-star hotel I would strongly disagree with the rating.

If you're looking for a place to crash after a. show and you can get your room at a decent rate then I would give it two thumbs up. But if you're looking to spend any amount of time longer than a night in Tampa I would suggest finding another property.

Local tip: we saw that they just installed blue bikes as well as bike racks right over the bridge from Davis island.  I can't remember the name of the company however the you can swipe a credit card on the back of the bike to rent the bike for however long you need to get around town. There are other racks at multiple locations spread out around downtown Tampa for you to replace the bike when you are finished. Kind of a neat concept, we didn't have the opportunity to try them but it seemed like a great idea for transportation.  There is an app that you use to locate the different rack locations as well as to register your billing information.

Three day stay at the Westin: $587
Total amount I would pay to stay there again: $-587

Room key and service dial on the phone did not work. Went to front desk and notified staff about room key on Friday evening and was told that keys get easily demagnetized and received a new one (that key also did not work), went back to the front desk FOUR separate times (issued four separate keys) before an engineer accompanied us to our room and told us the latch was broken and that it would be fixed the following morning.

I notified front desk and as well as emailed supervisor Jennifer Saturday evening that the issue was still outstanding despite being told an engineer would come up with us and fix the issue.

Sunday around noon I received a phone call from Jennifer and told me that an engineer would be up to address the issue (day three). Door was fixed and was told the button on the phone was broken and to dial 0 instead.

It should also be noted that the shower head is broken and aims directly outside of the tub and created quite the puddle, we called room service using our cell phones and an order was missed and brought up later on after we called back.

The entire ninth floor smelled like sewage. Couldn't find a front desk agent to check out around 6am so I just left. This stay was a disaster and was one of the worst hotel stays I've ever had.

One star for free happy hour drinks in the lobby and friendliness of the entire staff, they just need more training and follow up. Oh and daily parking is $17 if you find a spot to park that is.

Not impressed with all charges and no surroundings. Amenities that they claim are in area are not. If I could give 0 stars I would have as very disappointing.

I'm a Marriott girl myself but after staying at Westin Tampa at Harbour Island for a conference across the bay I'm intrigued with Starwood resorts.

Upon arrival I was greeted by valet and that's where the wonderful five star treatment began. As a team they took care of all baggage and put my rental in valet. A few times they would even go out of their way to shuttle me and my coworkers down the street to our conference so we could make it in time without having to walk or look for parking. They ALWAYS had the rental right on time when I needed it and went above and beyond to make sure transportation needs were met. Thank You Westin valet.

The front desk service matched that of valet. I had a late night and decided I would order off the late night menu. The late menu is pretty sad I have to admit with very little options especially for a vegetarian myself. The front desk happily gave me other restaurant references and offered complimentary snacks from their gift shop. (I can see a consistent trend here and I like it. )

The rooms themselves weren't 'spectacular' but that's nothing great service can't make up for.

Whatever the Westin Tampa at Harbour Island lacks they definitely make up for in their amazing service, care and atmosphere. Highly recommend

Not as bad as I anticipated based on the reviews. I put in a bid on priceline and got a room for under $100 on a Friday night and loved it. Yes, it's not the "4 Star Hotel Experience" with free water and whatever else one may expect but it's still a nice hotel. I typically stay Hilton and this is on-par with their service, comfort, and amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we were able to get a room with a great view of the harbor. Overall a good experience, would recommend checking this location out.

    I do like this hotel.

Stayed again for a long weekend in the Executive Suite ($465-$600 a night depending on time of year) , 11th floor, spectacular views, huge layout, two bathrooms, living room, dining area, kitchenette, sitting room, large bedroom, huge dressing area with 4 closets, ahhhh.

Of course the weekend has to start with room service, Steve, bringing the champagne to toast with. Steve is the NICEST man in the world. So helpful, so courteous, sets your table, uncovers the waters, opens the champagne if requested, just a super guy.

Ate in the restauarant 725 South as they had a menu change since last I stayed and I was anxious to try the falafel sandwich, It was VERY good, Exactly what it should have been. The bar is always a great place to hang out , have a drink, watch some sports. Sometimes dead, sometimes packed, just depends on the wind.

Everything about my stay was perfect. Not one glitch, I stay Green so I don't get housekeeping ( Im a neat freak anyway) and for making a Green Choice you get $5 per night to spend on food or drinks.

The bed is super comfortable, the black out curtains help induce late slumber. Very quiet, just perfect .

I see there are some negative perceptions of this hotel, and yes, it is a bit on the older side of the Westin hotel family, but my experience was quite nice.  Much of this probably depends on how much you are paying for the room (you can find Priceline deals, Travelzoo deals, etc.), but for the price we payed it was a great experience.  Westin hotels consistently have nice beds, clean rooms, and friendly staff.  This location was on point with all of these things, and had great views out over the harbor.  Overall, it is in a nice, convenient location to downtown Tampa, and at the cost, a great option to stay.

Disappointed, from check in through check out, I was underwhelmed. We happened to be staying here during a conference so when we arrived there was a decent amount of guests checking in, I went right to the Starwood line, figuring my Platinum status would help and the check in staff seemed to overlook us. After about 15 minutes we were finally checked in, one of my rooms was not ready so we had to wait a little longer (it was after check in time, close to 5pm, not cool). We were handed a free drink ticket since we had to wait so long. My room felt dated and stale, it was clean enough but from a few random hairs in the shower and dust on the furniture, it left me thinking that housekeeping didn't pay all that much attention to detail. For the price I expected a lot more and I will not be going back to this property ever again.

    Disappointed in this Westin property

The good: Nice view. Easy parking in and out. Decent fitness center.

The bad:  unclean. black and orange mold growing in the tub/shower.

As for service, left my room at 800am, returned 4pm, housekeeping still hadn't been to the room.

I have so many negative things to say about this place that I better start with the positives.  I had an awesome view of the harbor from my room, the rooms were nice, clean etc, and there was good dining available on site.  Also, the tiramisu from room service was delicious.

Now I have to move on to the negatives.  I stayed here for a week during a work convention.  The check-in process was that most disorganized thing ever!  There were several people working and they couldn't figure out how to check us in for a business trip with several rooms on one bill.  The prices changed from what was quoted and emailed prior to the trip and once we arrived we found out that tax was not included in the "final price" and we had to pay more for that.  With all the difficulty we were never offered an apology or any kind of ammenity.  Which is funny because when were were checking out there were some other people checking in who seemed to be having the same difficulties as us checking in and they were upgraded to a suite and given several drink tickets for the bar.  Didn't really seem fair in terms of who gets rewarded for difficult experiences.

The pool was the most difficult thing to find in the building.  There are literally no signs anywhere.  We finally asked the concierge and discovered we had to take an elevator up to the 3rd floor, walk down 2 hallways and then take another elevator down to the pool.  The only place I ever saw a pool sign was on the 3rd level.  How would one know where the pool is without signs?!  The pool area itself was really nice.

Our toilet was initially broken when we got to our room and we were able to get it fixed.  There were no areas near the beds to plug in phones or other devices.  I had to unplug the alarm clock by crawling under a table to be able to charge my phone overnight.

The biggest things I didn't understand were the lack of free wifi even though it's a business area and not a tourist resort.  And there was no complimentary breakfast.  The only place that had free wifi was in the lobby area, so i went down there to get some work done and the wifi was so bad I couldn't get enough of a signal to do anything.  The cost of "renting" wifi for a few hours in the evenings for a week cost more than I pay for internet at home for an entire month.

This place needs to get it's act together.  I will never stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel during our vacation. We stayed one night in a standard king room. Requested high floor for a possible harbour view, we recieves a fourth floor room with views of a very small waterway and the other side of the building. The parking was confusing at first. When we pulled into the valet/registration area I did not know where we would be parking.
I spoke with the valet who happily directed me to the registration desk which was pretty confusing to find because the ground floor of the hotel, I am assuming, is used for weddings and conventions. He directed me up an escalator and to the right at the top. The registration desk was very small and not a grand entrance I thought it was going to be for such a large hotel. The ladies at the desk were perfectly pleasant. Found out the room did not come with complimentary wifi, however valet parking and wifi was around $20/day.  Parking your own car war around $15 I believe and internet was around $10 so I was ok with it. The room was clean but little things like chipping or missing paint were unexpected for a hotel in this price range. Clean room and very comfortable bed.
If you plan to eat near the hotel please read my review on Jackson's Bistro and our terrible experiance there. This restaurant shares the same building as this hotel. We regret not eating at the restaurant in the hotel. Checkout was a beeze. Valets were very friendly and helpful, offering directions and advise for tampa hotspots.
4 stars for friendly staff and clean room
Lost 1 star for confusing lower level and chipping/missing paint in room.

Westin best in Tampa? No. But the location is convenient and the rooms offer great views on both sides. We faced the city and it was still really beautiful to see sunset behind the skyline across the bay.

We got a great deal for a quick staycation. The service exceeded our expectations - they comped our valet and wifi since we were only staying a night, and they let us use the pool after checkout. Very appreciated!

    However, rooms were mediocre:
    - low-quality window vent, either too warm or cool
    - no full length mirror
    - sheets and towels were rough
    - fluorescent lighting

Overall, I would say it's fine for a business trip, but I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic getaway.

The event team at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island went ABOVE AND BEYOND all of my expectations. My original wedding venue that was booked for 9 months CANCELLED on me 24 hours before my wedding. We were devastated. But We were referred to the Westin by our two close friends and luckily for us they were completely open on 4/12/15. The staff there made my wedding happen with less than 24 hours to work with. The team made every effort possible in making it the most amazing day of our lives. Delaynna Winters should receive an award AND a raise for the wedding she was able to throw together for us.

I have nothing but positive and great things to say. From the delicious food, to gorgeous scenery and great location. Planning on getting married? Then plan to do it at the Westin Tampa Harbour Island!
