Overall this is a nicely adorned hotel but there were enough little things wrong that it doesn't seem worth the price. It certainly isn't up to the standards of other Doubletree hotels.
Complaints: the wireless internet service was down during most of our visit (the problem was merely a modem which took them more 24 hours to replace); they have no pay-per-view movie service (strange for an upscale chain); some of the fixtures are is poor shape; our TV itself had poor picture quality.
Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad place to stay but compared to other comparable hotels in the same price range it is lacking.

I've always been pleased with my stays at Doubletree Hotels, and the Augusta location was no exception. Clean, modern rooms, friendly staff, and of course, a warm cookie at check-in. Not that Augusta is particularly large, but this hotel is centrally located, so it's not a long drive to anywhere you need to be.
The bar here is fantastic -- I probably spent as much time there as I did my room! The bartender mixed a great martini, and I'm guessing it's one of the few places you can get a drink late on an Sunday night (hey, it's the South). It was a little pricey; a double Knob Creek set me back almost $20, but darn was it good.
The breakfast buffet was above average, with a nice assortment of items. The servers didn't charge us the full price since we were just having some toast and fruit, which really sweet of them.
This is definitely going to be my first choice of hotels if I ever have to go to Augusta again.

wouldn't stay here again but we didn't have much choice we were traveling with our dog and the room we booked at the Sheraton was not available :( Thankfully, they had a dog friendly room for us and we didn't encounter any of the issues other travelers encountered (bed bugs or dirty room).

Typical Hotel and conference center. Has most everything to sustain your stay under one roof but for a price. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the internet is fast and the television has a ton of stations to entertain you. The staff was very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. The only issue I had was a weird sound coming from inside of the wall. It sounded like someone bouncing a ping pong ball on the inside of the wall at irregular intervals throughout the night. Spooooky.

I didn't have a good experience here in a 4 night stay, including two non-working lamps in my room, making for a difficult in-room work experience, and I also woke one morning to no power. They were unable to re-set the breaker so I had to get ready and try to iron using the one outlet that worked (in the bathroom).
One day I had to get a new room key 4x since they were having problems with the system. They offered to bring me a new one if I called from upstairs but each time I called down, they said they didn't have anyone to come up. Don't offer if you can't/won't do it.
Also don't bother using the front desk staff. I asked for vegetarian suggestions and neither gal understood that a vegetarian doesn't eat meat. Seriously.
Breakfast buffet is great - if you eat meat + infinite carbs. Fruits looked pretty blah. I ended up grabbing a cereal bar to go and calling it even.
One final annoyance - the day before I was to check out, I received someone else's room statement/summary. The day I checked out? Mine was blank with no $ amounts and it took about 30 minutes to get one re-printed.
This would be a one-star review, except the bar had some great happy hour specials every day. They would have been even greater if I was actually charged the happy hour price....but twice I was charged the regular price.

BEDBUGS! I own a company and often travel to the Augusta, GA area to meet with employees and industry partners. When I am in town I always chose to stay at the Hilton Doubletree. Usually known for their excellent customer service, the Hilton Doubletree in Augusta failed this time, and will not see another reservation by my employees or me.
When we woke up after our first night in room 607, while getting ready for work, we noticed something moving on the disturbed sheets. I was horrified upon further inspection to realize it was a bedbug.
We immediately alerted the front desk and we were offered a new room. I went to the front desk to retrieve the new room keys and I asked to speak to the manager. She was not in yet but we were offered free breakfast buffet coupons for our troubles (we declined)(that isn't going to satisfy this situation).
When the manager April arrived, we spoke with her and showed her our photographs. We requested the room charge be refunded and the clothing that was on the floor be steam-cleaned. April said they use an external company to come in to verify that there are bedbugs and that she will contact us.
We waited until mid-afternoon for April to contact us, but she never phoned so we contacted her. As of 2pm the external company had not responded to the hotel, the clothing was not cleaned, and no other action was taken.
We immediately decided to check out of this hotel. We contacted the Richmond County Health Department to report the bedbugs. I posted a review and photos on YELP along with this site.
While checking out the manager, April, was disinterested with the situation and unwilling to do anything to assist us.
Please see the provided photos. The pictures support bedbugs and the mattress stains (bedbug excrement) are a definitive sign of bedbugs.
Upon check-in at our new hotel we immediately unpacked all of the bags and performed a thorough inspection. We found several hitchhikers, which I stored, in a plastic water bottle. We had to cancel our planned dinner with employees and spent the next 8 hours washing and drying our clothes in the hotels laundry room.
Upon arriving home all of our luggage and backpacks stayed in the garage. Again all of the clothing was put through multiple high-temp, sanitary-setting washes. They were also dried with the highest heat settings. The luggage was sealed in multiple plastic trash bags. The dry-clean only clothing was placed into extra-large Ziploc bags and placed in the freezer. Shoes, belts, iPad cases, neoprene laptop cases, ect. were also placed into Ziploc bags and stored in the freezer. All of this time, money, and effort is to ensure that the Doubletree's bedbugs do not infect my home. All of this time, money, and effort because of the Hilton Doubletree's complete lack of oversight, quality assurance and room cleanliness standards.
I find it unbelievable that the Doubletree did not respond with an urgent, concerned, and/or compassionate manner. We are disgusted with how the Hilton Doubletree handled this situation. Based on this situation our employees are being informed of our experience and instructed to use Sheraton or Marriott properties for official travel. I hope you will read this and choose another provider for your stay as well.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel twice and both times we had a great experience.
This last time, however, the water in the shower in our suite was really difficult to get the temperature right. The water would come out of the bath faucet and feel perfect and then come out of the shower head ICE COLD! Other than that our stay was great and the staff is always nice and friendly.

Just stayed at this hotel for one night. I booked the hotel before checking the reviews, but I saw most of the more recent reviews were positive, so I decided to stick with my reservation rather than cancel. That was a mistake.
Some compliments and neutral observations.
1. The lobby is nice and looks like it's been updated within the past decade.
2. Staff is very polite and friendly.
3. Room was clean and had all of the basic amenities.
4. The bed itself was very comfortable, and the pillows were thin but comfortable enough.
5. My room on the the 1st floor wasn't completely silent, but it definitely wasn't loud either, and I had no trouble falling asleep.
Based on that list, I would have given the hotel an overall grade of 3.5 stars, except there were two negatives to my stay, one minor, and one severe enough to drop my rating to 2 stars
I agree with the other reviewer who mentioned that the rooms were dark, and while I'm normally not someone who cares much about aesthetics, it's worth noting that the decor looked very 1980's. Everything in the room aside from the HDTV easily could have been at least 25 years old. Also, a small section of the carpeting near the closet was inexplicably torn to shreds, as if someone began cutting it up before giving up after a minute.
More importantly, I have to say that customer service at this location is the worst I've ever experienced at a Double Tree hotel. There are two components to customer service - friendliness and competence. Everybody I interacted with at this hotel is friendly, but competence is in short supply. Some examples:
1. I ordered breakfast for morning room service delivery between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. (the earliest they offer) because I had to leave for a job interview at 7 a.m. The food did not arrive until 6:40 a.m. The woman who delivered the food was very polite and apologetic, so I decided to let it slide and gave her a decent tip.
2. In addition to being delivered late, the breakfast was missing the hot chocolate that I had ordered, and I did not have time to call and ask for room service to deliver it since I had to leave for the job interview less than 15 minutes after my food was delivered. I was annoyed, but I had bigger things on my mind, so again, I quickly ate my reduced breakfast and was going to let this mistake slide.
3. The job interview was scheduled to be done at 4:30 p.m., and the hotel shuttle was scheduled to pick up not only me but also 4 other job applicants at 4:45 p.m. at a nearby medical center. The pickup location was only a 15 minute drive away from the hotel.
At 4:50 p.m., the shuttle had not arrived, so we called the hotel front desk and were told that the shuttle was running late but would pick us up in 20 minutes.
At 5:15 p.m., the shuttle had not arrived, so we called the hotel front desk and were told the shuttle had broken down, but they were using a backup shuttle that would pick us up in 20 minutes.
At 5:35 p.m., we were still waiting, so we called and were told that the backup shuttle had encountered traffic but was around 15 minutes away.
At 5:50 p.m., we called again and were told that the shuttle driver couldn't be reached, but he should be nearby so we shouldn't call a taxi.
At 6:15 p.m., the shuttle still hadn't arrived, so we called a cab anyway, and the hotel agreed to pay for the cab after we arrived at the hotel. We were never given an explanation as to what happened to the "backup" shuttle that never arrived to pick us up.
Suffice to say that the front desk clearly had lied multiple times to us when they gave us firm estimates on when the shuttle would be arriving. For whatever reason, the hotel never managed to get a shuttle to attempt to pick us up yet refused to openly admit their failure. The hotel eventually paying for the cab that we called (**against their recommendation**) after an hour and a half delay doesn't make up for the repeated customer service failures we experienced in a 1 night stay.
Summary: Friendly staff, comfortable if unspectacular room, overpriced overall, and terrible customer service. I would only recommend staying here for short trips and if you're sure you won't need to ask for much from the staff other than the delivery of clean towels.

My in-laws just stayed here on a recent visit. I recommended the Doubletree as I've been in their convention rooms and bar during a couple of monthly meetings. The lobby is nice, open and fairly updated. The front desk staff seemed to know what they were talking about, although I think the guy taking my reservations was new and had issues spelling my last name. Overall the front desk seemed as if they were all operating independently of each other, but got the job done.
Upon entering the room, I felt an overwhelming dark, damp sense and the decor smacked of the '80's. My in-laws were happy with it but having worked for the hospitality industry, I felt could have had a little more in the way of better looking lamps and other decor.
We had the brunch buffet on Sunday, which was ok--the standard fare applied here with nothing really outstanding except for the sausage. I was craving coffee and it took what I felt too long to get a pour of joe and then waited again for cream. Since I am on a high-fat diet, I asked the server the fat content of the b'fast bar yogurt and upon his return said that there was "nothing in it". Not exactly what I asked but tried again with the same empty answer, so I just decided not to press the issue.
I'm not sure that I would recommend this hotel again for a place to stay--like I mentioned before, the lobby, conference rooms and bar are very good. I would recommend to my visitors this Doubletree just for the convenience factor, as I live within 5 minutes from this particular location.

Mold on the tubs and all the ac vents, the carpet doesn't appear to be vacuumed, the return ducts have filters that haven't been replaced in a LONG time and are improperly installed.
The room I'm in was said to be renovated. I don't see any renovation, this room has seen better days.
It says something when this hotel on yelp don't have any regulars.
The staff seems nice so they deserve 2 stars, unfortunately they're left to deal with what they've been dealt. Can't say I would ever recommend anyone to stay here.
Doubletree's I've stayed at are usually superb, there are some that are questionable. This one is on the top of that list

They only get 1 star b/c the staff at the front desk was nice. My child noticed a bug crawling in the bed. I sprayed all our belongings w/ Lysol. Toilet had a stained ring. Bug was floating in the top of water I was served at breakfast. They fail for cleanliness!!! Asked for towels and washcloths; never received them. Was expecting a lot more as a loyal Hilton Honors member. Disappointed!!!

Mother's Day hell. First off had a reservation for 1:30, didn't get day until 2:10. Our reservation for for 10, they made us squeeze at a table that was big enough for 8 (at most). Most of the food was not good. The only thing that was decent, was the slightly over cook prime rib. Everything else was extremely over cook. The only reason I gave them one star, was yelp would let me post this without a at least a star. They really should consider closing there kitchen and have the food catered in.

Thought I'd give it another shot, review based on 4 night stay on 4th floor:
+ Staff still friendly
+ Night shift was able to bring a fan since it was so hot in the room
- Dark, lights in the room seemed very dim
- AC didn't work
- TV didn't work
I just didn't get that clean vibe. Will be looking for alternative locations next time in town.
