Remember folks, I'm not being mean, I'm just being informative. So the one star goes out to McKenzie the most friendly, helpfulest desk clerk I've ever encountered. Too bad he doesn't work at a better motel. I saw three cockroaches, not on my floor but still. Of my three wakeup calls, all three were late. Not cool. My floor smelled like smoke so I asked the night desk clerk, not Mckenzie, to get housekeeping to spray some Febreze or something in the hall because the smoke smell was seeping into the rooms. Instead she was more worried about who was smoking. Well they probably had already checked out and the hall and ultimately my room reeked of smoke the rest of the week. They are proud of their complimentary breakfast and dinner. It wasn't all that. My feet were killing me so they had some Bayer for sale in the lobby. $1 for two tablets?!? I'll just soak them in the tub. So one day I had a midday break from the tradeshow I was attending at the Marriott and entered my room to find the windows open and potato chips all over the floor. I know housekeeping has to be in my room to clean it when I am not there but I felt violated. I just got back home and discovered four different charges on my credit card from the motel so I might be updating this post soon.

Worth your value if you're not aiming for a lush vacation by any means. This was a decent hotel that surpassed our expectations for a three day business trip. It's located in the whole grouping of hotels right off of I 20 so it's very easy to find once you get off the highway. It is an older hotel so I have to admit it's a bit creaky and tired all around. For example the toilet seat was cracked just a teeny bit, the thermostat was a little wonky, there was a VHS player in the room (yes a VHS player!!!!), outdated wallpaper in the bathrooms and a front door handle that always got stuck. It wasn't until we asked maintenance how to open it and then he showed us the trick of pulling the handle towards us and then pushing into the door. Not like a typical modern hotel where you just swipe your card in waltz in. But staff overall was smiley and friendly which still goes along way in the hospitality world. Same about the housekeeping staff--sweet bunch of ladies. They were very accommodating to us and allowed us a late checkout for 1:30pm with no fuss! The breakfast was pretty decent - cheese omelettes, potato wedges/hash browns, a waffle maker, sausages, oatmeal, assorted breads and pastries, fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, a couple of different cereals and bacon. Mon-fri there is a managers reception with a rotating dinner menu. The business center has free, unlimited printing. There's a nice pool in the back, guest laundry and a small fitness room. The actual suites were huge! Lots of space to spread out and it was laid out in a typical one bedroom style with a bedroom and living room area full kitchen a small hallway into the bathroom. Overall it was a pretty good room for the rate and would do it again if I had to come back on business. If they allow pets then it would be golden!
