    Great location... Stay here to be close to everything Savannah, GA has to offer. Check in was super easy and the staff is very accommodating. Even though there was a large party staying the weekend, they upgraded us to a balcony room. After day one, the upgrades just kept coming... We went to breakfast at Goose Feathers and strolled around Savannah for about 2 hours only to come back to the hotel to find that all of our stuff had been moved to a 2 room suite with a balcony. The service in this place is by far the best I have ever experienced at any hotel. Could not ask for better. You can literally walk to everything in the historic district. The only thing that could be a little less expensive would be the $15 a day to park, being that the historic district is just outside and you can walk to everything, the car is useless unless, though still less expensive than flying here from Orlando. If every we decide to come back to Savannah, we will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn again.

    Easily the worst wallpaper I've ever encountered.  The pale green stuff in the hallways looks psychedelic under the fluorescent lights.  The bathrooms have clearly been upgraded with granite counters that look just awful next to the overly patterned cream and coral wallpaper.
    Clean, affordable, centrally located, it has AC, the staff has been generically friendly (must be their "can do" training), it's good enough.  I'm just wishing room service ran past 11 now that I'm realizing it's 11:04 pm, and not 8:04 pm.  Drat.  (*next night update: tonight I come to find out it actually closes at 10.  Maybe I was still foggy from the cross country flight the day before, but I could've sworn she said 11.  Either way - super disappointing.)  And I may not have a mini bar (boo, I want an overpriced half bottle of crappy red wine), but I can change the firmness of my bed!  It's not a sleep number, but I have a little dial I can mess with and you can believe that I'll be screwing with it for at least 10 minutes before the novelty wears off.
    I'm really enjoying the episode of South Park my neighbor is watching.  Sounds exciting!  Also, I have no idea how close I am to the kitchen up here on the 5th floor, but the smell of breakfast woke me up.  Mmmmm.
    *day three update: a phone call requesting a fork was met with, "I'm on my lunch right here, I'll have to see if I can find someone to bring it up."  Suggestion: maybe you guys should keep a set or two of cutlery in the room if you're going to offer microwave meals in the lobby and have microwaves in the room.  Did I ever get that fork?  What do you think?

    Very nice hotel located in the heart of Savannah, very convenient to just about everything.  My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon and we were very pleased.  The staff at the front desk is very friendly and accommodating.  Our room was very clean and comfortable.  I would definitely stay here again in the future.

    The staff at this hotel is very good and friendly and makes up for some things beyond their control.  This was my first trip to Savannah.  Our room the first night was on the Bay St side of the hotel (front).  At night the noise was no problem, but early in the morning, like 7:00 on your vacation, semis and motor cycles started driving by and can CLEARLY be heard in your room.  

    I spoke to the general manager at the front desk and he moved us to a different room that was much better.  The breakfast each morning was very good and plentiful again with excellent service.

    City Market is right behind the hotel and the river shops are just across the street.  Make sure to give yourself extra time with the valet service as it always seemed to be backed up.

    Overall our stay here was good and enjoyable.

    What a lovely stay! The staff at the Hilton go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The facility itself is stunning - with a lovely 2nd floor outdoor pool and hot tub, workout facility, and restaurant. The hotel is located in the heart of the historical district and only blocks away from the riverfront, city market, and Paula Deen's Lady and Son's restaurant. I would recommend this hotel with enthusiasm!

       * Liked -- Great customer service, clean and classy facility, great accommodations.
       * Disliked -- A bit pricy ($100+), but well worth it.

    This was a relatively pleasant stay but I'm also extremely easy to please. I don't complain about a whole lot. The valet, Armonde, was probably the most friendly part of the experience. We did, unfortunately, encounter a rather rude and attitude-filled front desk attendant but she did redeem herself later on when she seemed to be in a better mood. It was also somehwhat awkward that we could clearly hear the TV in the room next to us, that made it kind of difficult to sleep. All in all it was a nice hotel.

    This place has a great location for a weekend in Savannah.  It's easy walking distance to River Street, City Market, and the best of Savannah's Historic District.

    Some HGIs are a bit hit or miss, but this was a hit.  The rooms came with a mini fridge and microwave, if no minibar.  Everything was very clean, and the staff was great about splitting the charges.  The little pantry store had emergency provisions.  (Yes on wine, no on sewing kit.  But they also sold individual CD-ROMs with cases, instead of a bundle of 100 that I don't need.)

    Great hotel for a great price! Downtown Savannah, within walking distance of most of Savannah's must-sees. Our room was the Bay Street side, so we were worried we might not be able to sleep well with the traffic, but we had no issues with the noise. Always enjoy staying at Hilton Garden Inns.

    Do Not Stay!  They tried to charge us for things we never even got, then got mad about it when I brought it up.  Place is dirty and smells.  The front desk help is lazy and cares less about customer service.. Especially Mariah! She's a real c---!

    Very close to historic amenities. However, since you can walk everywhere safely in this city, one doesn't need to be in this noisy, busy area of town. Over priced restaurants are allllll around here. Good food, but really???  Best bet is to stay in central city and enjoy the quiet parks/amenities and then set out for your day.

    Hotel check-in and mgmt. staff liked to pass the buck when glitch occurred in our reservation. Beware of internet reservations and having anything changed once you arrive, whether your fault or their's. "I'm sorry" was heard often but not sincerely. Problem resolution came hours later, after going over someone's head to go over someone else's head to only have to go over their's. Had to keep a reminder of looking at credit card statement verifying we would not be double charged.  We weren't.

    Valet is $20 day which is not what is stated on web site.

    For a last minute deal we got a great price with a water front view and a great staff that made you feel like you were home. I definitely would stay here again when I go back to visit bc you are right in the historic district where everything is.

    This hotel is a great deal if you want a clean, nice room with a comfortable bed, you want to be close to pretty much what Savannah has to offer and enjoy having a hot shower right when you want it.  

    I am not a fan of paying to park though and that is why I did not give this place a 5 star review - well that and the fact that they charge $10 for a breakfast buffet that you can get for free at pretty much any Comfort Suites/Ramada/Best Western, etc.  

    However, we did enjoy our 2 night stay here and would definitely stay again if we are ever in Savannah again!

    This is in a great location and is reasonably priced. The hotel is very clean and the staff is beyond helpful. We had a balcony room overlooking the pool area. We had no complaints about noise, but then again, we weren't in the room that much. It is Savannah, after all. They also give you lots of fluffy pillows. Too fluffy. I had a crick in my neck for two days.

    The really great part of our stay at this establishment was that the hotel let us check in when our train rolled into town at about 8am. But alas and alack.. it all went down hill from there.

    Mom and I were on our second annual Amtrak Vacation, and this hotel was one of our options. Yes, they offer an "accessible" room, but the layout is inconvenient, i.e. no towel racks near the sink AND the crappiest hotel shower in one of the darkest bathrooms we've ever seen. The front desk staff literally will not give out any advice, not even the nearest coffee!, without turfing you to the "concierge". The concierge is paid by Old Savannah Tours, so guess whose tickets they sell ya? Even when one of you is in a wheelchair and those shuttles and trolleys ain't accessible, and neither is the Tour company. At all. (Go with Savannah Dan's walking tours, seriously, he's the bomb). Kid you not, a random (but totally awesome) stranger in a wheelchair rolled up to us in one of Savannah's beautiful squares and handed Mom a guide to accessible Savannah, but not our concierge. And really, bartender? You couldn't remember me from one night to the next when you average around 3 customers per night? And Mom and I get plastic cups, not glass like the men at the bar? Dude, you might like your job better if you tried harder. As for the hotel restaurant, please do yourself a favor and skip the all-you-can-eat buffets. Yick.

    I am at a loss to explain why this hotel is included in Amtrak's vacations when they don't seem particularly interested in the tourism industry.

    In other words, it's a totally serviceable hotel in a convenient location with some service-oriented work to do. If it weren't for Emmit and the bellhops (thanks for all your help, guys), we would have been unhappy!

    I'm not entirely sure how I ended up staying here.  I'm usually more of a Hampton Inn girl, but I guess that it was already booked when I reserved my room for the weekend of the Savannah Rock and Roll Half Marathon.  I know that I picked it for the location.  You simply can't get a better spot in the city, particularly in terms of night life - just a block off river street and a block from City Market.  Unfortunately, some of the noise from city market did hit against the beautiful picture windows of our 6th floor room, but I was so exhausted that I didn't mind too much.  And it ended by 11pmish I believe.

    The rooms are pretty nice, particularly with those windows.  The bathroom door is awkwardly close to the room door, particularly if your sleeping companions leave the bathroom door open when you leave the room.  But there is a mini fridge and microwave, so that's nice.  It's not really set up for working, without easy plugs at the desk, but then again, who expects to get much work done when they're staying on Bay Street?

    Parking is valet, which is worth it since parking in downtown Savannah is no picnic. The breakfast is decent, though not as good as some other HGI's that I've been to.  Also, there are happy hour specials at the bar, but I didn't get a chance to partake.  Since I was there for the race, I didn't need to bother with the fitness center, which I believe is on the 2nd floor.  Only half the employees were helpful, but that fits for a location that's so popular that it doesn't have to rely on excellent staff.

    I'd go back, but I think I'd try to get a room at the Inn at Ellis Square or the Hampton first.

    Definitely 5 stars, everything was perfect. I was in Savannah for a conference, and the staff was phenomenal. We never had to wait long for a shuttle to take us to the convention center. And when we wanted to shop at a mall, they helped us call a taxi. When we needed an extra blanket, or towels, or lotion, it was instantly brought up to our rooms within 5 minutes.
    There was free wi-fi, free printing, and there was always coffee and tea available downstairs. Around noon, they had lemonade, and cookies!
    And it's location is perfect! right across from it, is a little square with small shops and restaurants. The riverfront is also pretty close.
    My stay in Savannah was too short, hope to be back someday, and when I do, I know where I'll be staying ;).

    Five stars here! Without a doubt one of the nicest, cleanest and quiet hotels we have ever stayed out.
    Located in the historic district of Savannah, you are within walking distance of many shops and restaurants; the breakfast buffet was pretty good, and the coffee is great.
    The only draw back would be no external sink, only one in the bathroom.

    A great room, I would definitely recommend it!

    My mom and I stayed here for four days and three nights - it was a great experience! It was quiet, clean, and convenient! It had a laid-back, light airy environment. The location was great, a street away from the river front walk, and a street away from the action on the other side. The beds were made every day while we were there; they were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were a good size. We didn't use the pool but went and checked it out, it was a nice private little pool on a second floor outdoor balcony/courtyard with a hot tub and a few dozen sun chairs to lay out on. I wish we had an extra day to relax and lay out there! I would definitely come again! The staff was happy, polite and helpful; the valets were quick and nice. Thanks Hilton Gardens, we had a great trip.

    Easily 4+ stars!  During a recent trip to SCAD, we roomed here and thoroughly enjoyed this location in the heart of the historic downtown district.  Everything we needed, except a convenient drug store, was within walking distance of the hotel. SCAD, numerous restaurants, the river front area, retail shops, coffee shops, desserts, ice cream - all easily walkable!  

    The hotel is extremely quiet, even with the music and late night activities wafting up from the streets below.  For me, the beds are comfortable - my back did not start aching the following day which is often the case.  The rooms are extremely well maintained and the valet service is outstanding!  The gentleman who greeted us on  arrival was spot on - helping unload our bags, park the car and then he wheel our travelings to our room - nice surprise.  I must also compliment the front desk staff for going above the call of duty with directions, recommendations and solutions for not having a drug store nearby.  I guess I'm spoiled by having 24/7 Walgreens on what seems like every corner in the larger cities.  

    The hotel's buffet breakfast was reasonable given the location and quite tasty!  This included a hot made-to-order buffet along with cold items such as fruit, cereals and baked goods.  You could also order a custom omelet and other items.  It was so refreshing to see a hot breakfast available as many hotels have gone to all cold and DIY waffles - but not here!  The waiter service was first class, engaging, helpful and attentive.

    Overall, a very positive experience.

    We enjoyed our 2 day stay. This is in the heart of the historic district. Everything is convenient and most within walking distance. The consigliere will give you a map of the historic district and help you plan events.

    The breakfast is hearty. You can order omelets, French Toast and a few other things or eat off the buffet. Of course, there is grits and biscuits to accompany your meal. The servers are polite and helpful too!
    There is free Wi-fi service in the entire place after you login.

    Yelper's gave us plenty of places to eat within walking distance.  For lunch walk to Papillote, a French place. Also try Rancho Alegre. We drove to Rancho Alegre, about .7 miles away, for dinner. At Savannah Bee Company, we had the free honey tastings and bought some for ourselves and a few gifts. That was fun and different!

    In addition to the basic room price add valet parking ($18 daily), Occupancy Tax, State Tax and Downtown Lodging Fee ($1.00 daily).

    I loved staying here on my recent trip to Savannah for my sister's bachelorette party. This hotel was clean, quiet, and convenient to everything we wanted to see and do in historic downtown Savannah. Everything about the reservation process and our stay went smoothly and without any random hitches. They were extremely accomodating and allowed one of us to check in early ahead of the rest of the group so she could decorate the rooms for my sister's bach party. Even though I thought they were little expensive our stay was well worth the cost. The beds were comfortable and the view from the 4th floor was beautiful! I recommend this hotel to anyone who asks me about our trip to Savannah. The concierge service at this hotel is also extremely helpful and the $12.95 breakfast is AMAZING and worth every penny.

    I also really liked how they had a little table set up in the main lobby that was constantly stocked with water, tea, and coffee. It was so convenient to be able to grab a drink whenever we happened to be passing through!

    I was not impressed by the Hilton Garden Inn.  Upon arrival, I learned that this hotel does not provide inclusive parking, but charges $25 to valet the car! After ex pressing our reluctance to pay such a heavy price EVERY time we come and go from the hotel, the parking attendant offered to park our car for $10 "under the carpet." Completely shady!  When dealing with the front desk, the staff was monotone and bored, offering little greeting and absolutely no enthusiasm!  I definitely would not recommend this hotel. Although centrally located in the historic district, choose a hotel without such hidden fees and poor customer service.

    I would choose this HGI again.

    Pluses:  convenient location near the river in Old Savannah, clean rooms with comfortable Hilton beds, happy hour 7-9 pm with discounted drinks provided you choose well drinks, outdoor pool, underground parking, tasty made-to-order breakfast with healthy options such a sliced grapefruit, balcony rooms with river view on the West side, and friendly staff.

    Minuses: Even after asking, no self parking at $18 per day, no draft beer, and no discounted drinks during happy hour except for well drinks.

    Tip:  Choose the rooms on the West side for both River View and Balconies.

    Right on the river, walkable to any location in the historic district, with convenient valet parking. My queen bed room had a nice armchair and ottoman, also a kuerig coffemaker and a mini fridge which is always appreciated when travelling.  Three big fluffy white towels that while not supersoft were also several levels above the sandpaper towels in many basic hotels. Staff were friendly and incredibly responsive.

    I am a  Hilton Diamond member and I was not pleased. The only reason why I gave 3 stars is because of Trina - the concierge. She recommended a good tour for us to take.  She was about the only one that was helpful at this hotel. Seriously!

    The front desk was less than par. The one girl when we checked in was quite rude. We didn't even get our room cleaned the first night. This hotel needs some major upgrades.  The outdoor pool is gross and the hot tub had hair floating in it!

    Ok - now thinking about it I recant my 3 stars and must provide a 2 star. This breaks my heart to do so since I'm such a loyal member of Hilton Honors.
    Next time we will definitely choose another hotel other than Hilton. Sadly.

    The location was good, but that was about it. Service needs major improving!!

    We were super happy with our stay here. The hotel is located right near the river area on Bay street, we were pretty much close to everything that we wanted to see. The girls at the front counter were courteous and helpful both during check in and check out, the valet guy hooked us up with a cab to the airport, even switched the times for us without it being a hassle. The room was clean, up to date, had great views of the city, and comfy beds. We didn't use the fitness center or the pool but you can see them in the views from our room. My husband booked this through hotels.com I think so prob got a better price but we couldn't cancel, which was fine because we didn't need to. We had a good night's stay here, def recommend to anyone looking for a hotey in the area.

    The hotel is clean and well located, within walking distance of Market street. The lobby looks old and tired. The small bar is not inviting.  My biggest turn off was the $25 charge for parking at check in. The hotel across the street had free parking and this was not a busy weekend or seasons.  Plus it is Savannah, not Chicago or Miami or LA, where I've paid $25 for parking.  The room was large, clean and with a nice view of the river.  The shower had very little water pressure and the water wasn't hot enough. I'm a Gold Hilton Honors member and was a but disappointed by this hotel.

    Great value for the price. Courteous efficient check in, and free wifi and bottled water for Hilton Honors members.
    Rooms are updated and clean. Keurig coffee makers, microwave and fridge in the room!  Breakfast buffet with eggs to order in the morning. Best grits and perfect eggs Benedict. I've never had such friendly service at a hotel breakfast. This staff is top notch. Wish I could have gotten names...I would have sent a note to Hilton corporate !

    Staff is four stars. Room cleanliness, same. Great, very clean fitness center. Good breakfast. ($15 for complete breakfast.)

    Why not give it four stars overall? NOISY. Very, very noisy. Even getting a City Market-side room, it was noisy. We could hear the kids in the room above getting up early and playing, and every person walking down the hall. Thin walls. Oh, and the leaf blower at 5AM. Ouch.

    I have a track record of not picking the best of hotels during our travels mostly due to trying to save a buck or two.  I don't look for the barely in business dumps but I do stray away from places that push toward having too many dollar signs (call me cheap but I don't want to drop two bills for a room that I don't plan to do anything in other than sleep).

    Being that the hotel was located in the Historic District, we couldn't be happier to be close to all the action, restaurants and sights we wanted to see in this area... plus most of it was walking distance.

    Parking is "mandatory valet" service which is $18 per night (NOT per visit)... but you know your car is safe being that the parking garage is beneath the hotel and no one can just freely walk around in there.  I should know, I went into the garage to fetch something from the car and one of the valets asked what I was doing in the garage in a mater of minutes.

    The lobby of the hotel was lovely and had plenty of chairs, tables, couches plus a dining area and a concierge... and SUPER FRIENDLY... and I mean everyone (front desk staff, valets, maids, everyone) always ended every single encounter with "Have a nice stay" OR "Hope you're enjoying your time here".

    I thought it was interesting that they had no vending machines;  instead they opted to offer guests access to their mini-market located beside the front desk (behind a wall so guests don't have to see it.  Nice when you want something more than a cold soda or water.

    And our room was as impressive too... clean, comfortable and a balcony to view the
    Talmadge Memorial Bridge, the Savannah River and the gorgeous Savannah City Hall (the golden dome).

    If I was forced to make a complaint I could only think of two.  (1) the pillows were full sized but sink to nothing when you place your head on them.  And (2) my balcony view also included a view of the dumpy Quality Inn across the street (but I forced my eyes on other focal points).

    Speaking of the Quality Inn (a chain that surprisingly does offer decent locations around country)...   that hotel wanted $25 more dollars each night....  they may include a continental breakfast but it's the old-style hotel (room doors exposed to outside balcony walks, just two floors and no elevators).  I'll save the money, give up breakfast and stay in this classy hotel any day over the Q.

    Great bang for the buck and surprisingly cheaper than I expected.  Inside and out, the hotel is impressive.  

    This Savannah hotel was my saving grace... making up for a real doozy I chose in St Augustine Florida and another poor choice I made in Charleston SC.
