    We were very, very surprised!

This lodge is located in the back alley directly adjacent to the Holiday Inn Express on Bay Street. You book your stay as well as check-in @ Holiday Inn Express and because of this arrangement, you also have access to all of their amenities, including free breakfast, rooftop pool, fitness center and free wifi.

Once your past the shock of a back alley entrance, you'll climb up a flight of metal exterior stairs and enter what is virtually an apartment building. There are three levels and ours was on the second floor. The first room you see as you enter the unit is the kitchen, which is FULL sized and larger than some home kitchens. Glance down a long hallway that leads to the living room and you'll notice a HUGE coat closet on the left. Next you'll see full baths on both the left and right and the first of two bedrooms just before entering the living space. Great flat screen TV greets you along with a pullout sofa, and a few other pieces of furniture. Wood trim, carpet and wall coverings are classic old south and the ceilings are tall for a nice spacious feel.

The front bedroom along with the living parlor both have window views of Bay Street. The mattresses in the bedrooms were Tempurapedic memory foam and made for some very comfortable sleeping. There was very little wall art but the size of the apartment and the feel of this old building make up for it's lack of decor. It felt like it's walls could tell a million stories if they could talk.

Next morning we had some amazing bagels @ the complimentary buffet and checked out to head home.  It easily sleeps 6 people and has three flat screen TV's. One night in here was not enough, and although it was much more than we would normally budget for per night, it was soooooo worth the money. We had a wonderful time!
