    gross.

We walked in and after traveling for a while I needed to use the ladies room and clean up the kids while my husband checked us in.

Bathroom in the hall was dirty with a broken toilet.

Front door had a broken handle.

That was as far as I got before we moved on to another hotel.

    Gross.

Clean room. Friendly staff. So so breakfast. Dumpy neighborhood, though with a bunch of similar priced hotels.  Road noise in the room. Over priced on the weekend we stayed.

First off, when you are making reservations online, they make it seem like you can walk to downtown Savannah from here. No. You cannot. It's an 8 mile walk.

My husband, dog, and I made reservations here for MLK weekend. We were in transit to Kings Bay and since my hubby did not have to report to his base until Tuesday, we figured it would be nice to take a break from the drive from New England to the south and stop in Savannah.

Well, we got to the hotel and it is directly across from the projects in Savannah. Great.
We went to check in and our room was not ready. This was not a big deal. We were just going to drop our stuff off and take off anyway! The woman behind the counter, (very friendly by the way) offered us a map and asked if we would like to take a WALK downtown while they finished our room. The dog needed to stretch and whatnot so this was perfect!!

However.... no.... you CANNOT walk downtown from this hotel. It is a 15 minute drive. There are no sidewalks and on either side if the hotel is a very very busy street... NO SIDEWALKS!!!

My husband at this point was pretty fed up. He was tired from the driving, he was not impressed with the location, and he wanted to find another hotel.

We ended up staying because once we saw our room, he was impressed. It was a nice room! I felt right at home and became very relaxed!!

The staff at night was kind of rude. I stood at the desk for 15 minutes while the woman stood in the adjoining room talking to her friend while watching TV. She saw me. But, i waited.

Sure it could be closer to downtown, but it is centrally located and the rooms are quite spacious (especially for the money).

The breakfast is not exactly world class, but for free.99, I'll take it. The egg beaters are always present (at least in my 3 mornings they were there) and there is a rotating cast of potatoes. Thanks.

The dinner is definitely lacking, but again, it is free. There is some cheap wine and Budweiser on tap, so no big complaints. It would be nice to see more veggie options, but this is the South so I wasn't expecting much.

The desk in the room is great, the kitchen is well designed, the table seats two and the bathroom is fine. I was definitely surprised at the quality of the furniture, etc. If this ends up being my home for 2 months, then I'll have a lot more to say. For a 4 night stay, it was certainly worth it! I looked at smaller studios in Santa Monica than this...

The free Wi-Fi is pretty slow, but that is to be expected. The building is quiet and I haven't been disturbed by neighbors. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

    Definitely needs improvement.

Check-in: A few snafus here. First room was already occupied. I opened the door and was surprised to see a family in "our" room. The front desk was apologetic and sent us off to our next room. This room was facing a very noisy highway and would not work for us as Platinum Marriott Rewards members. Finally, the last room. No real view, but it was quiet and on the third floor.

The Room: Verrrry small. Like a shoebox. This is e smallest Residence Inn room I've ever seen. The room was very humid and hot. It was fairly clean until we noticed a huge roach in our room. The bathroom is super tiny. The TVs had basic cable and HBO, but nothing was HD.the cable quality was very poor. The TV was fuzzy the whole time.

Parking Lot: Wthi all the families driving in with their huge SUVs, the parking spaces should be doubled. The parking was pretty limited and spots were very tight. I was lucky to not have gotten a door ding.

Location: Okay. It was about 15 minutes from downtown Savannah. You have to drive through some very rough neighborhoods to get there if you don't take the interstate all the way around.

This hotel definitely needs some attention from Marriott Corporate to bring it up to standards.

Will never stay at a Residence Inn again let alone this one. It is built right on a major highway and my room abuts it. No sleep tonight I suspect. Plus their "pet friendly" policy includes a compulsory $100 cleaning fee. A deposit seems fair but a large, flat out charge? Wish I could tell my dog he can be as messy as he likes here. Marriott's in the dog house for certain.

We were very happy with our room, the service, friendliness of the staff and  the breakfast buffet. Great coffee!! The wifi was iffy so I would not pay the $4.95 to upgrade to hi speed. Perfect overnight stay on our way to Florida!

Before booking, I checked the travel ratings on trip advisor...it seemed okay so I gave it a chance.

IMHO the Yelper have gotten this one wrong...we got the two bedroom suite for a family of five...it was a good value for the size of room....four stars on value.

You will not walk anywhere from this place.  It just isn't that type of location.  Two stars for location for savannah tourists.

Room was clean and updated...room gets four stars.

Staff was very pleasant...four stars there.

Facility needs a little update and common space cleaning...three stars on that.

Great hot breakfast and happy hour...not like an Embassy Suites, but four and a half stars for that.

I visited Savannah and decided to stay at the Residence Inn since had a kitchen in the room.  When I arrived, I thought it was going to be a typical room, but it was a lot more pleasant that I thought that it would be.  It felt very homey, like an apartment feel.  The front desk clerks all were very nice to us during our stay...very friendly.  Our room did not come with a oven, (which we didn't know ahead of time) and they allowed us to use the oven in the kitchen.  We had a continental breakfast in the mornings.  I had no complaints at all for this location.  Very nice, and I would definitely consider staying here again if I went to Savannah.  This location is definitely not in walking distance to the river, but has stores nearby if you wanted to shop or need any last minute items.

Mediocre. Pretty standard for a residence inn off the main strip. Friendly and knowledgable staff-the pool is indoors and the management company could spend a few bucks on renovations. The wifi was average for hotel speeds.
