This is, by far and away, the best SpringHill Suites, and probably the best hotel in downtown Savannah.  This place makes me feel as if I am in the midst of the chic, young and sexy crowd.  The hotel oozes of style and substance with a certain sophistication and flair that is only reserved for top notch 5 star places.  The lobby is gorgeous and modern with decor that makes breakfast feel more like a nightclub setting that a hotel area.  (There are also some great beers in the giftshop.)  The rooms are ultra-modern, yet functional and well-designed.  The amenities are laid out intuitively and make for a spacious place to relax.  This hotel also offers concierge services which has all the inside info on the ins and outs of fun touristy activites and hot, Savannah nights.  The best attraction of all is the outdoor pool and spa.  It is not on the ground level, but on the 2nd floor!  It is built above the parking garage (where they have valet parking for $12) and has a privacy wall built around to keep out nosy gazes from next door, but it is in full view of most hotel rooms.  The resulting pool scene is pretty, ahem, lively, to say the least.  All in all, although I only spent one night, it feels like I've been staying here all the time.  It was cozy and made for one awesome trip.

Great hotel!!! Friendly staff!!! Very helpful! They recommended lots of places to eat and sights to see!! Hot breakfast! Big rooms with a separate sitting area with a built in desk. The only weird thing was the toilet was not in the bathroom with the shower. There were 2 separate rooms a shower and sink in one and toilet and sink in another. But it was very modern!!! Loved if!!! Big wardrobe to store clothes...  With Extra pillows in it!! I am already planning my next stay here!!!!

Pretty good location, very walkable to River Front.  Was able to check in early (thanks!), but they do allow you to store your luggage if check in not yet available.  Not too many restaurants/bars around the hotel, so plan on going out.  Breakfast buffet included, but nothing extensive.  Consider avoiding the rooms on 2nd floor that are pool-side; the noise (people and hot tub bubbling) does affect the rooms, and the black out curtains do not black out.   Pool is very empty in the morning, so get up early and enjoy.  It may still be locked, however, so call the Front Desk and remind them.

New hotel suites that are clean, modern, and affordable.  Free Breakfast heated pool/jacuzzi, large gym, and friendly staff.  Hotel is on the corner of Montgomery and Oglethorpe just a few short blocks from City Market (which starts at the Franklin Square) and River Street in the heart of Savannah's Historic District.

This hotel was a mess.  It gets a star for its location, which is walking distance to things in the historic part of Savannah.

The hotel gets only one star, because of the way it handled my reservation.  I had booked it months prior to my stay, and specified that I needed a crib and a tub.  The hotel put it in my notes, and then told me I needed to call the week of my reservation.  I did this three days before my reservation, and again they put it in my notes - assuring me that I would have the crib.  They asked that I call back the day before check-in, which I did.  I called and the lady said she would block the room and set up the crib.

When we checked in (around 1 am), the room lacked the tub and the crib.  The guy at the front desk had no knowledge of the room with the crib, nor were there any cribs available.

We were transferred to a room equipped for disabled folks as it had a tub.  And, even after staying for 4 days -- no crib.  I tried to book at another hotel and the whole area was sold out.   I would have bought a crib, but had a weekend full of wedding events and did not have time to try to find a target in an area I did not know.

Stayed here with the whole family for one night, just stopping over in Savannah on a road trip.  The place was immaculate, rooms very modern but practical, great breakfast buffet. And it was affordable - less than $100 a night.

Highly recommended if you are traveling and looking for a clean hotel.

Enjoyed this hotel. It was located within walking distance to a lot of the restaurants, bars and shops in the Savannah area.  The hotel was decorated nicely for the Christmas season and the room was very modern and large.

The toilet was separate from the shower, which was kind of different, but was helpful for a group of 5 girls all trying to get ready at the same time. The staff was helpful and kind.

The price of the hotel was very good.  Free breakfast is included.

So far, so great!!! We checked in yesterday and will be here for a couple more days. The nite staff is super nice! Day staff is a little stiff. The rooms are wonderful and clean. Breakfast was good this morning except too many kids taking too many cream cheese cups and bananas but that has nothing to do with the hotel, it's called lack of supervision by parents. I did inform the desk about the lack and they called the kitchen staff to replenish. The lobby area is gorgeous! Free (good) coffee available 24/7!

We spent one night here and would quite gladly stay again. The room was large and clean - we lucked into a corner room giving us windows on two walls - and very quiet. There were a bunch of folks eating the free breakfast with us but the cool design of the dining area makes it seem at least somewhat intimate. This is the third tome we've stayed at a SpringHill Suites in the past six months and we are fans. Recommended!

I wish I could rate this hotel higher. I just wasn't impressed overall.

Let me start with the good points. The hotel is newer and gorgeous. The rooms look just like they do in the pictures, which was refreshing. The rooms were spacious too; the beds were SUPER comfy!! We stayed in a room with my husband's parents. The toilet is in its own water closet, which is convenient. Our room rate also included breakfast which was basic and tasty. The location is right off the expressway so the hotel was easy to find. The front desk clerk was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He recommended a spot for cocktails that overlooked the river and the entire city.

The "eh" points were that our shower was very slow to drain. I called to have the repairman come but when he did my father in law was in the shower. We asked that he return in a few minutes, but the repairman never showed. Also, there was a large wet spot outside of the bathroom caused by a leak of some sort from the shower tub. I expected better conditions from a new hotel. The water closet was not private at all. Since we were sharing a room it made for an uncomfortable "potty" situation. You heard EVERYTHING that went on in the water closet. The door was only a sliding door, so it didn't even offer you much in the way of visual privacy.

I'm not sure if I would stay here again. One review states that they paid less than $100 for their room. We paid over $100. I guess we don't need all the fancy decor as we don't spend a lot of time in our room when we travel. If we paid less than $100 I would most likely stay there again.

Overall it was a nice, decent, safe place to stay. I just wouldn't recommend sharing a room as it doesn't offer much in the way of bathroom privacy...which I guess is important to me.

Super nice hotel located just far enough away from the craziness on the river.  They let me check in at 10am, which really helped me out, as i had to get ready for a wedding.  Parking is expensive, but we parked on the street or there is a parking garage right next door for much less.  They also have a very nice breakfast in the morning, and it's only a 5 minute walk to the river.  I will definitely be staying here next time i come to savannah.

Great location in historic district.  Rooms were spacious and well equipped.  Staff was very approachable and friendly.  The gym was also surprisingly stocked considering that Springhill is on the lower end of the Marriott brands.  Free breakfast and wifi also a huge plus.  Downside: strange smell in hallway at times and the rooms also have that signature hotel deodorant smell.

I just returned from a 3 night stay at the SpringHill Suites in Savannah downtown, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a spacious room near all the sights of Savannah.

We were 4 women travelling for Girl's weekend, and we legit got everything we needed from this hotel: spacious room with a separate sitting area, check; walking distance to all the sights without any of the noise of the busier River or Bay streets, check; complimentary continental breakfast with a really good spread PLUS amazing coffee, check; great pool and hot tub area, perfect for relaxing in after a long day of walking and sight seeing, check.

We had a few minor hiccups, like no towels at the pool, but these were brought up to us as soon as we called.  All the employees we dealt with were very friendly and helpful, which was a big (albeit not unexpected, as we are in the south) plus for us.  We did have a few rouge charges on our bill prior to checking out, but they were removed right away upon us calling them to the hotel's attention.

Other than that, we had an excellent time at the SpringHill Suites, and would definitely recommend it to all types of travelers to Savannah.

Some friends and I were in Savannah for New Year's Eve 2011 and stayed at this new SpringHill Suites for a couple of nights. Thinking ahead and booking in advance saved us a few bucks on the room, and it's a good thing we did -- they had one open room left when we arrived that was going for a pretty high price (eavesdropping at the front desk, sleuth mode).

While a relatively new property, the "modern" designs were...interesting. Reminded me a bit of South Beach -- super intense greens and blues, bead curtains, bright fluorescent lighting. But the rooms are nice with a sofa/seating area and desk, flat panel TV, modern appointments in the bathroom and toilet, and comfortable beds with ample pillows.

Our room was never cleaned by house keeping. After the first night, we were still in the room when they came by to clean, and they never came back. We had to hit up the front desk a couple of times for clean towels. Boo. But it's not like we're slobs, so it wasn't horrible to not have the beds made up for our spoiled asses.

This location is not a bad walk to the top of Bay Street and/or River Street. I'd stay here again, if my eyes can get past the neon greens.

This is a great location. The staff was very helpful. The beds were extra comfy; I asked for special pillows on the Marriott website and they did not disappoint.

The decor is modern and ... interesting. The mirror in the bathroom is not your friend if you have body image issues. It's two mirrors in one - a circular mirror mounted to the wall mirror. (See the picture for a better idea.) The circular mirror doesn't fog, but it does distort your body! LOL, I had fun jumping around in the bathroom and watching myself go from short to tall.

The breakfast, as far as free hotel breakfast goes, was awesome! They also have free coffee and tea all day.

The only real complaint I had was the vents in our room. The bathroom vent started banging every morning at 6 a.m. The only way to make it stop was to turn on the light and leave the fan running. It stopped around ten. I didn't tell the front desk because it wasn't that big of a deal, but I'll leave a note on the comment card so they can look into the issue.

All in all, made for a great "home base" in Savannah.

The modern designs were interesting. Reminded me of south Florida,  intense greens and blues, bright lighting. But the rooms are nice with a sofa area and desk, flat panel TV, and comfortable beds with a lot of pillows.

This location is close to the top of Bay Street. With ample places to eat. Just be sure to wear your sun glasses when you enter, otherwise you will be blinded by the neon green.

Very modern. I love the design and suite set up. I have stayed in the double bed suite and king bed suite. Both are extremely room and all of the amenities one could ask for. The staff is courteous and attentive to guest needs, plus they have a concierge service. This is my second time back here and I will definitely make it a third.

I'm a fan of Marriott even being an Elite Rewards Member.  I had a couple of free nights to use for a category 1-4 hotel.  Our options in the historic district  were this one or Courtyard by Marriott.  We selected this one mainly because of the free breakfast.  The hotel and rooms are modern, even more trendy than the NYC Marriott we stayed at last summer.  The rooms were average size for a hotel but slightly small for a suite.  They had a fridge and microwave which was awesome.  The standup shower was very nice as well, and the toilet room was separate in case someone's taking a shower and you need to go.  There is a nice little work station with a divider from the sleeping area.  It's Marriott, so internet access (hardwire or wireless) is free.  They have an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi but we didn't have time to go.  The breakfast was standard Marriott.  Eggs, turkey sausage, grits, oatmeal, cereal, juice, coffee, toast, fruit, muffins, and make your own waffles.  I did notice their sanitation grade was 83 which is low, but that's likely because of all of the things like bread left out in the open.

The hotel is walking distance to everything in the district this side of Bull St.  The Distillery, a craft beer bar, is around the corner.  This was nice because you can get "to go" drinks in Savannah.  The walk down Montgomery into the heart of the district was fine, but when we walked down Bay St it was a little sketchier.  River St, City Market, Telfair Museum, the Civic Center, the Lady and Sons, and more are all nearby.  The parking is valet only for $15 (typical for Savannah) but there also is a city parking garage next door that could be cheaper.

I'd say if you get the right price for this hotel to stay at it.  It's a nice hotel with many amenities and is close to almost everything.

Great modern designed hotel in a perfect Savannah location.

Very friendly and accommodating front desk staff who helped us find our way around for the weekend we were here.

You can easily walk to many restaurants. If you're a beer drinker head over to The Distillery which is very close to this hotel.

The rooms were modern and inviting and the bed was comfortable.

We enjoyed the pool (along with 900 girl scouts) a few times and that was a nice feature.

I would definitely come back to this hotel whenever I'm back in Savannah.

A nice surprise.

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid-May for a wedding in town.  Loved the atmosphere of the hotel (fun boutique) and the location (walking distance to pretty much everything).  The rooms were clean and smoke free.  The bed was comfortable to sleep on for 4 nights straight (well except for the night I passed out on the floor).  And being a tall guy, I'm always excited to be able to stand up in the shower.

Stacie F., I shared a your terrible experience. Here goes or review! Unfortunately Marriott Reservations screwed up our reservation, when we arrived to the hotel with two infants, their parents and great grandparents (85 and 87) we found out that we only had  two of the three rooms reserved. Mr. Bill "WT" Wade, manager, refused to assist us either to locate another room for us or calling their sister facilities for us to accommodate our family. Contrary, he recommended several times that because we bothered his day with our request, we should not stay in this hotel. Well I'm a Marriott Rewards customer and we were using Marriott points, I wonder if Mr. WT, wanted to make more money with somebody. Wow, lousy way to treat loyal customers. F.C.

K and I were back in Savannah and the SpringHill Suites was again our base of operations. Right on Oglethorpe and Montgomery, any place you want to go is a pleasant few blocks' walk, and walk we did.

Despite being a year older, the hotel still feels fresh, bright, and inviting. The valet service for the truck was prompt and polite, the front desk staff helpful.

The room was as lovely as last year. K found the mattress to be especially restful, and the internet service (free to me as a Marriotts Rewards member) was fast and reliable.

I honestly don't know how they could improve on their accommodations or service. Five-star all the way.

My best friend and I rolled into Savannah without a plan, or a hotel reservation.  After calling around we had booked an affordable room at a hotel about 10 miles from downtown, but as we made our way in that direction we decided that location was more important than cost.  We decided we would much rather stay one night downtown than two far away.  We called the SpringHill Suites and I could not be happier with this decision.

We walked in to the hotel 30 seconds after booking the room with reservations and Tatiyana was able to get us in our room right away.  We pulled into the valet and all the adorable boys were friendly and willing to lend a helping hand.  That sounds like reverse order, but it is actually how it worked out...don't dwell.

The room was GORGEOUS!  Clean and crisp are the best words to describe it.  The cool tones, and inviting pillows just enticed me to relax.  We got ourselves together and decided to go for a walk around.  A couple of walking drinks later and we made our way back to the hotel.

We were having such a great time already that we wanted to extend our stay, if possible, despite the cost.  Well, Tatiyana not only was able to extend our stay, but also gave us a great rate for the second night.  OH THE SAVINGS!!!

Joy at the concierge desk was a delicious delight and exactly what you would want from a person in her position at a hotel in a city like Savannah.

Complementary Hot breakfast in the ultra-modern lounge each morning was lovely, even considering all the little gymnasts taking over the waffle maker.

I give this hotel high praise and plan to use it every time I visit Savannah, and given how much I loved it...that may be quite a bit.

A terrible experience.

I booked the hotel after reading the rave yelp reviews, so I'm guess my horrible experience was an isolated one, but here goes...

Called about an hour before we arrived to make a reservation. Spelled out my name, gave my credit card, etc.  Then when we arrived, they didn't have it.  The girl at the front desk said they had no more rooms, so there was no way I possibly could have made a reservation. I asked her to call the corporate reservation line and instead she proceeded to help other guests behind me. After about 20 minutes of this, I asked her what the status was and she said she wasn't sure. Flabbergasted, I said forget it and found another place to stay.

A week later, I noticed they charged my credit card. I called the hotel, they told me to call reservations, who told me to call the hotel. I flipped my lid and the person at reservations advised me she would "send an email to see if they would refund me". I nearly flipped my lid again, but said ok. Fortunately, someone at the hotel who didn't have their head in their arse contacted me immediately and refunded me the money. Looks like they had my reservation and couldn't locate it because my name was spelled incorrectly. But, how they were still able to charge my card, I have no idea.

This hotel is nice-looking, modern, sleek, and mostly fine. But I'm only giving it three stars, and here's why:

(1) the television was in an awkward position askew from both beds;
(2) the water closet (toilet) had a sliding door with no lock, a noticeable gap (you can see the person inside), and basically no privacy whatsoever;
(3) the lighting was too dim, and the light between the beds made a terribly loud buzzing noise;
(4) the microwave and refrigerator were placed in an awkward place and not very easy to use.

It's basically a nice hotel, but I felt that the room had a weird layout, and there were just a few irritating things that make me give it three stars.

The SpringHill Suites hotel is an awesome place to stay while you're in the beautiful city of Savannah!  It's such a modern hotel within such a vintage city.

The standard two queen bedroom was pretty roomy - there's a living/office area with a couch, cute coffee tables, and a desk area that is divided from the bedroom area.  There are two "bathrooms" - one toilet room with a sink (which had no counterspace) and one shower room with a sink (which had plenty of counterspace - which is a must have for me!)

One weird thing about the room is that the flat screen tv is situated off to the side of the first bed - yes, the tv can swivle so you can watch tv while you're in bed, but it's just in a weird spot.

Valet parking is available for $15 per day, the hotel provides breakfast in the lobby, and wifi is available for free.  The best part is that this hotel is walking distance from everything!  Very convenient location, great furnishings, and good customer service.  I would definitely come back to this hotel if I'm ever in Savannah again!

Loved our stay here.  Due to a booking error by someone else in our party we ended up having to pack five guys in one room.  They didn't have any rooms left, but did their best to accommodate us.  Service extremely friendly (Tatyana at the Front Desk was a delight and seemed to be everywhere the entire weekend).  Rooms were great, no complaints, and the hotel is situated in a great area within walking distance of the city.  The lobby is a lively and energetic place in the morning, full of groups and people gobbling down the complimentary breakfast and coffee.  We needed a late checkout the last day there due to unforeseen events but again, the front desk couldn't have made things easier for us.  Despite the circumstances the excellent service here made the best of what could've been a rough situation for us.

Spinghill Suites Marriott treat customers this poorly???  Buyer beware!
$20 per day mandatory valet parking.  Nothing else available.
I chose to stay here because the website indicates parking is an amenity next to many free amenities.  This is very misleading because no self-parking is possible, and the only option is $20/day for mandatory valet.
When I brought this to the attention of management, Paige rudely refused to ameliorate the website or the misrepresentation. This after she thanked me for my platinum status.
I immediately switched to the Marriott Riverfront and recommend you do the same!
Additionally, Paige (Springhill Management) said she would charge me 1 night to switch my reservation.  Marriott customer service waived the fee and said there would be no charge.  As someone who stays at Marriotts weekly for business travel, this hotel has the worst management I've seen since in over 10 years.

Overall a very pleasant stay. They room was clean and quiet- my top two requirements for a hotel. Staff was mostly good but service could be slow at times. Its location can't be beat and for a reasonable cost. In March (spring break) we paid $139/night and were only minutes away from most anywhere we wanted to go in the historic district.

The pool was small but clean and the hot tub inviting. The breakfast was an absolute waste of time unless you drag yourself out of bed early before the rush. We learned that after the first morning. We ended up downstairs by 9:30am and found every serving tray scraped clean. The only thing left was something that resembled ham. It was the most disgusting shade of grey- I guess no one wanted to eat that! The following mornings we were downstairs by 8am and had no trouble getting grub. Food was blah- but it was free. Oh, and they had grits, which was a nice way to warm up on a chilly morning. With so many great dining choices in Savannah we'd eat just enough at the hotel to tide us over until we ate lunch by 11am.

The room itself is a little odd. The toilet and shower are in two separate "rooms" with pocket doors. The toilet room is about the size of a closet. The entire room is very narrow and laid out in a shotgun arrangement. The frosted door of the shower "room" isn't very practical. The separate seating area has a pull out couch. It was a tight squeeze for 2 adults and 2 kids. But overall we had a nice visit and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Great location! And So relieved to be at Spring Hill Suites that I give it 4stars just for having room to accommodate my friend & I last minute. Small, cozy room & fresh, clean & modern. PLUS no yard cockroaches like at the place we checked out at here in Savannah (where I also was robbed by the housekeeping staff). Whirlpool & pool are outside so it's nice but sucks when it rains.

First of all I am definitely a fan of Marriott hotels. I am a silver elite member and probably stay in 10-12 Marriotts a year. In fact this is what I told the manager when I complained to him. This Marriott was ok but not up to Marriott's tip top standards.
1. Walked in to find the pool was closed down -- the 1st week in Aug.?? Good planning there. The manager told me it was Marriott's fault not that hotel -- I said well at least they could have told me a head of time.
2. Then they put us in one room and then asked us to move so they could deep clean the room we were in. Ok, no problem - we moved.
3. I thought the desk staff was slow. As I paid more attention the lady working there, alone, was an intern.
4. We loved the guys in valet parking - they were super friendly but once it was raining so we asked if they could call us a cab. They said the front desk would do it -- as you can guess slow front desk, we waited a while and then just ended up walking.
5. The breakfast and breakfast area was good.
6. Location was great and super convenient for walking!
7. I see some others complained about the cleaning staff waking them early. They over compensated. Our room was not cleaned by 2:30 pm and we really needed some towels to take showers. My daughter called and asked and they said some one would be up. After 30 min. I went down the hall and just grabbed some off the cart.
8. I did personally complain to the manager and while he seemed nice he didn't really have any solutions other than summer is busy. He asked me several times what could he do for me. I wasn't going to demand my money back as the situation was not that drastic -- after the 3rd time he asked I said - "well you can give me some extra Marriott points". I am guessing he forgot because that never happened.
I know I sound like a complainer but this is not a bad hotel it is just not up to Marriott's usual excellent standards!

Great location and very nice and helpful staff members.  Everything is very close, good breakfast and very clean. Rooms aren't as big as i expected but nothing else found offers any better. Free internet is slower and cant be used for Netflix.

I absolutely loved this place.. Service was impeccable, rooms were clean and up to par, valet was on point. We stayed for valentines 2014 and had an excellent view of the city from floor 6. Although it's not exactly walking distance from downtown, well atleast not if you're wearing heels. It's still pretty close. I recommend trying to book through Hotwire or Travelocity as the at desk price can be a bit high. Average price is about 180. If you want something special though it's worth every bit of it. Two thumbs up

The lobby was open and clean. Parking is valet only unless you find street parking on your own. I would not count on street parking. The location is nice and allows easy access to much of Savannah. The layout of our room was strange. The television was inconveniently placed and the toilet and shower were in different, unconnected rooms. There was free wifi which worked well for light internet browsing. Our room had a nice view of the south side of town.

Overall the stay was nice but a few things bugged me as we stayed here.  First off, housekeeping seems to think everyone staying there wakes up at the crack of dawn.  We live on the West Coast, so when they were banging on our door to clean the room at 830 in the morning, it was 530 to us.  A few of the days, I did not get to the door fast enough to tell them to come back later and she just used her key to barge right in.  I explained our situation but each morning we were awoken by housekeeping at a VERY early hour. On a positive note, they were VERY friendly.

I also did not like the lay out of the bathrooms.  With the type of sliding door that they had, if anyone was laying on the far bed, they got a good view of you doing your business.....just what someone wants to see on vacation.  Same with the shower. The TV was also off to the side in a very odd location, so if you were laying in bed you had to turn your neck to see the TV...you don't see that often in hotels.

I also didn't like that valet was your only option here.  We were there visiting family, some living there and some staying at other hotels so we were out an about a lot and it was very inconvenient to have to get your car out of valet each time you leave, not to mention pricey as you have to tip the valet attendant each time in addition to the parking cost.

The room was very clean and the staff were all very friendly.  If not for those small issues, I would have been 100% happy, but waking papa bear up too early does not make for a good day, just ask the kids.

Checked in on a Thursday for a long weekend, Government discount took care of the 20 dollar fee each day for valet. Valet service was very efficient. The hotel itself is in a great location, helpful friendly staff, free breakfast and great free 24 hour coffee stand.

Room was very clean, tv is in an odd location (but it swivels) bed was not the most comfortable however sufficient and bathroom/shower lay out is a bit odd.

Overall great value for your money and if we ever get back down to Savannah, GA we will stay here again!

This is a new location (for me anyway) in Savannah's Historic District.

The lobby is huge and slightly inviting, IF there's someone to greet you at the desk semi-centered in the room. The concierge area/desk is a little odd in that the concierge is actually seated behind a desk. There are no chairs for guests to be seated while having a conversation with the concierge but that could be strategic in that they don't want/anticipate the guests to linger.

Complimentary breakfast offered, We didn't partake so I can't offer a review of the offerings.

Overall, the hotel is clean. Our room was clean and had the basics (microwave and refrigerator, beds).  I did like the toilet area being totally separate from the shower/tub area. that was a plus especially when traveling with women.

the location was perfect walking distance to everything in the area (River Street, City Center, Henry's, and shopping).

We are planning to keep this one in mind when planning visits to Savannah.

This hotel is about a 5 minute walk from where the action is.
I spent almost a month here and I really enjoyed this place, the staff is very nice the rooms are clean and there is a nice heated pool.
The only drawback (IMO) is that they force you to valet park.
Rather than waiting for someone to bring me my car I opted to walk to the public parking one street over. While I don't mind paying for parking, I hate having to wait for my car. The other issue was that the hotel seems to always be filled with kids that crowd the breakfast buffet in the morning - nothing against them, but I did have to go elsewhere for breakfast several times because there was no room in the area.
Overall the staff though made up for the minor shortcomings and I would definitely stay here again.

Spacious room and friendly staff.  Microwave and fridge nice to have.  Great shower.  Valet was prompt and courtesy.   Walking distance to various attractions.  Potential areas of improvement: stains on floor and ceiling, bottle of whiskey bottle (1/3 full) in closet (??!?), slide door of toilet area (shower is in a different room) did not fitted properly against wall so gap doesn't allow for privacy, only two small drawers in closet so unable to unpack luggage, charge for using wireless phone if more than two devices, parking fees.

Ok, Pros:
Location. Right in the middle of the historic district, walking distance to a lot of cool places.
Beds. They have one of the best hotel beds we've had, and we've stayed in plenty, and that's big for us.
The layout. The bathroom and the toilet area are  separate, which is a big plus, especially when traveling with more people.
Staff. Very friendly and helpful.
Price was reasonable and included free breakfast.

Now, cons:
The layout. Yes, it is both in pros and cons. The room seemed small and the layout was a littler awkward, wasn't too much privacy allowed in the bathrooms, everything could be heard. Not much room to walk around either.
The comforter for the sofa bed had what looked like a burned stain, wasn't happy about that.
Breakfast left much to be desired, weren't too many choices, coffee was ok, but good thing they had a waffle station.
So, to sum up, 3 stars as had too many cons for me, and I'm usually good with giving out stars, but I guess should be expected, considering the price, which WAS good, compared to other hotels in the area.
It is still good to keep this location in mind, maybe will give it another try.

I have tried several hotels in the Savannah area. The Courtyard Savannah Downtown/Historic District -- nothing great and the rooms vary wildly in experience. The Hilton Savannah DeSoto -- more of a landmark than a great hotel experience and expensive as well. Then while walking around the downtown Savannah area, and being bumped once again trying to get out of town, I decided to give this place a try.

I am really glad I did. The pricing is great and everything feels new -- not only literally but also in the slick design of the suites. For me this was a huge step forward from the other places I have tried and there is no downside on the location. Great for exploring downtown on foot from the front door and still a nice location for everything to do with SCAD.
