Bathroom lights are nice but not functional for a man trying to shave or a woman trying to put on make up.  Room service was not good and screwed up an easy continental breakfast order- my wife's order was perfect though.  Also, for some reason hotel was filled with cousin eddie and his fam - I thought we were in the wrong hotel for a while.  The roof top bar is nice and great views but the DJ type of music is a total dis-service to the bar and the patrons.  They really should close it to non-hotel guests to maintain integrity.  The location of the hotel is nice and the furnishings and decorations are superb, they just need to work on the above things.  Will stay somewhere different next time for the amount of money I paid.

Gorgeous hotel.  Nice helpful staff.  Very creative decor and the rooms are exquisite.  The bathroom is gorgeous.  They have computer access from your flatscreen, sound system in the rooms, and comfy gorgeous beds.  Can't ask for much more.  On the riverfront, and walking distance to downtown.  Can't wait to return.

We liked this hotel enough to go back for an unscheduled 2nd night on our return trip through Savannah. It's very modern, comfortable, a little goth (or is it Bohemian?) and to be specific, sexy. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. Unusual nice bathrooms. Very weird art and light fixtures. Door to balcony in our room w/nice view. We stayed on the river view side which is great. We didn't have as nice an experience the 2nd stay but I'd still go back. We were very disappointed that the room we liked so much and we reserved with a credit card was not available when we got back. Huh? After about 15 minutes of negotiations, we were provided a comparable nice room. We would NOT have gotten it though if we did not balk so that left us feeling irritated. Unfortunately, the air conditioner in the 2nd room (room 600) is as loud as a jet engine so we did not sleep well at all that night. The fan is set to blow too hard and it's crazy loud. We should have complained but after the lengthy negotiation just to get the room, we didn't have it in us, and we didn't notice until late that night after returning from dinner out. Get that AC fixed Bohemian! You have a nice place there but you tested our patience. And one last tip: I'm 6'1" and the king bed was too short. How could that be? Turns out, the head board is 5 inches thick which makes the bed shorter! Just pull it away from the wall and you're set.

Great Staff, Comfortable quiet room, Good Location, only complaint was Parking. (20 min to get your car and pricey). We stayed on the street side, sounds like the river side is noisey. We will be back.

One star service at such a beautiful place should not coincide. I will not ever recommend The Bohemian it is ridiculous to pay approx. $300 per night and only have one excellent service experience from Andrew the bell hop.

great hotel, great rooms, great location, friendly staff, all in all what you'd expect from this type of place.

why 1 star?  they billed me twice.  i got two receipts on checkout, asked the front desk why, they said it was an error and not to worry.  i worried and checked my cc bill, and they billed me twice.  had to call them to get a refund.  un freakin acceptable.  in fact, may even be illegal.  if it wasn't for that, they would get 5 stars.  this is something you dont even expect from motel 6.  the manager was very nice when i called, fixed the problem right away, but again, not acceptable.

I have stayed previously at the Mansion on Forsyth Park and it is amazing.  This sister property get's about the same level of review for comfort and luxury.  It is a great location on the river and the room was quite comfortable.  Service was excellent, although a late checkout was only good until noon, I guess I can't complain about that.  Restaurant was very good and rooftop bar was very cool!!!  Awesome view!!!
Very pet friendly!

We had a girls night out at the Bohemian. All seven of us had a fabulous, fun filled time  The food at the restaurant was good.  I had cheese fries, filet migon, and a very nice red wine. My filet came with a blue cheese sauce, it was delicious.  I tried the calamari and it was really good.  It was extremely tender, and was not greasy.  The calamari was the best I've ever had. The wine was full of flavor.  Our waiter was wonderful. He recommended the wine that I ordered.
We ordered creme brulee as a dessert.  I would have to give the creme brulee just an average rating. I didn't personally try any of the other desserts, but they looked really good.  
Two of my friends ordered filet migon.  When they got their order it was undercooked, but our waiter quickly fixed the problem. The service was excellent. We made reservations in advance, and they put us in a wonderful spot for a group our size.  We had plenty of room to eat, but we weren't to spread out.  
After our meal we headed up stairs to soak in the view and a few more drinks.  The view was great.   The drinks were good. And the service upstairs was wonderful.  I think this would also be a great spot for a romantic night out.

Being from NY and staying in manhattan often I felt like I was at a boutique hotel. I Have to say that this hotel is clean and real nice.  The hotel is in the right location to see all of Savannah. Walking distance to it all. We where given a room on the river with a balcony. The service is impeccable,(chris never forgot our names) the roof top bar is really nice. The restaurant is really good as well. We where here to visit SCAD, and if my son is excepted this will be our hotel of choice

UNBELIEVABLE five star service! Great prices on drinks, food, etc. Rooftop bar ROCKS! Rooms so comfy, only wish there was a tub. Tv operates horribly but didn't really care. Awesome hotel! MAKE SURE CONSTRUCTION IS FINISHED BEFORE RESERVING A RIVER FRONT ROOM. LOUD LOUD LOUD!!! Choose city view, it's much prettier anyway.

This hotel was a disappointment.  Though it's highly rated, I just don't know why.  The service in the roof top bar is sad.  It took forever to get waited on.  And the bar on the bottom floor was so cold, we had to wear winter coats to stay comfortable (yes, really ... two other guests complained about the cold air in the bar, and took their food away so they, and their food, wouldn't freeze).  Oh -- if you want noise -- stay at this hotel.  If we had known about the noisy streets that sandwich the hotel, we would have picked another place.  Too bad you couldn't run the room A/C fan continuously to mask the outside noise.  The hotel decor is nice -- but it doesn't make up for the rest.  I won't stay here again.

The absolute worst ... Should be called "The Barbarian"  Loud music next door until 5 in the morning and security is like the Keystone Cop. Called front desk five times and never got resolved.  All the glitzy "in" carpet and BS doesn't mean squat if you're up all night.
After all this, a really nice girl called the next day and adjusted our
room rate for that night. Other than the sub-humans next door with their loud music and intolerable attitude, the hotel itself was very nice.

Love the room and location...great view. The lounge is cool but pricey. Restraunt downstairs is nice for lunch or a brick oven pizza on the riverfront. As happy as I am with the rooms, they really are amazing, I am mystified on how the valet service can be so god awful. First time we went they brought our brand new BMW back with a door ding. They appologized but only after I pointed it out. The last time we were there the floor mat on the passenger side (again in the BMW) had standing water in it! I dumped it out of the car and the carpet was soaked. We brought this to their attention and they initially denied any responsibility. After getting a bit "persistant" they finaly admitted a valet had spilled an entire drink in our car! They ate the valet cost for our entire stay, and awarded us additional points to our account. Nice by the hotel staff, but I am not going to valet our car here next time. Ill pay to park at a city lot on my own.

Absolutely loved this hotel. While it wasn't a traditional suite, the bathroom was GORGEOUS. We went to the bar upstairs for a drink and dessert, and I was very impressed.

Would definitely recommend this hotel and will return.

The hotel is pretty nice itself, the rooms are big and the beds are comfortable.  Having said that, when I pay for a expensive "boutique" hotel I expect SERVICE.  

There's a cool rooftop bar and a decent restaurant on the first level.  Both are called "Rocks".  The atmosphere on the roof is very cool with nice views, and we went there 3 times, and 2 of the 3 times we waited at least 15 minutes before a server came to us.  As for the downstairs restaurant, the food is good, but again, the service sucked.  Every time we went to get a table, there was no host/hostess at the front. Wait 5 minutes for someone to notice you.  Then sit, wait another 5 minutes for someone to come to the table.  The thing that sets a hotel apart is service, and it is lacking at the Bohemian.

As a final note, you have to valet park.  They park your car in their "secure" parking garage across the street, plus it costs $21 a night.  The valet attendant told me the garage was secured, when we checked out and they brought us our car, it had been broken into.  They stole a GPS unit, and messed up everything inside.  When I went to the front desk to complain, I received a comment "oh, I'm sorry, but we're not responsible for the parking garage".   Yet, they give you no other parking option.  Plus, they didn't even offer to pay for the parking fee.  

This place tries to be nicer then they are.  Granted, it's a fairly new hotel, but overall I rate these guys are amateurs.

The reservation said we could have two queens and a folding bed. Come to find after we arrive they cannot add the folding bed. Then we want a vending machine to purchase a soda and they send us next door to the Hyatt. Huh???? Room was comfortable and l liked the trendy tunes piped throughout...

We received excellent service from the time the valet service directed us off the street, through check-in and luggage delivery. The rooms are chic, with all the amenities you'd expect for $300 per night. Mostly, I enjoyed the fact that the bed was comfortable and the room is clean. Easy access to all historic district sites and an attentive staff makes this hotel a winner for me. Like other reviewers, I'm top tier at other chains (Marriott, Hyatt, and Starwood). This hotels is right in line with W Hotels.

Blew away my expectations.  This is a funky, hip hotel for people who appreciate high end design concepts, great service, and attention to details.  From the champagne check in to the bottled water check out, the staff should be commended on really taking service to the "next level.". The room was spacious and modern, and the whole feel of the place was "bohemian cool.". Perfectly located, although not easy to find by car (it's set back off the road).  We saw cargo ships cruising right past our widows.  Awesome.  Beds were comfy and the blackout curtains let us sleep.  Overall, my pick for Savannah in style.

I have enjoyed a meal at Rocks and drinks upstairs on the rooftop.  GREAT Happy Hour location for snacks and drinks.  The view is amazing and the service is great.  The food is wonderful at Rocks as well.  enjoy!

I stay in quite a few hotels and I'm tough to impress, but the Bohemian is definitely one of the nicer hotels in Savannah, and given the choice I would stay here again.  I also like the sister property the Mansion on Forsyth Park, but it's in nowhere as good of location as the Bohemian.  Everything in town is easily with in walking distance of the Bohemian where as you'll have a long walk (not fun in Savannah's hot summers) or you'll have to drive and try to find parking to go to places downtown if you stay at the Mansion.  I also like that both of these are part of Marriott Rewards.

I was torn between a four and five start rating, but like I said I'm tough to impress.  I ended up in a great corner room with huge windows that let in tons of light.  They also let in a fair amount of noise from the street and parking lot, but that's probably not the fault of the hotel.  The room has some very unusual furnishings like two tall driftwood lamps and a chandelier made of stuck together seashells which are pretty cool for a hotel.  The shower and bathroom are also very cool and spacious.  I came back to my room to a cool CD playing in the Bose alarm clock.  The CD was for sale of course if you wanted to buy it and I seriously thought about it.  The rocks bar on the roof is very cool and definitely worth a visit even if you don't stay in the hotel.  The staff is very nice and very helpful.  I wanted to find a better gym (more on this later) and the staff tried hard to find one.  One other thing that I like about this hotel over the Weston is there is no hidden "resort fee."

Now for what I wasn't impressed by.  The workout room here is tiny, with only a couple of treadmills, an elliptical, and exercise bike, and a small rack of dumbbells.  I went to two local gyms in town to work out and the best one I've found is Lava Fitness.  The TV had plenty of stations, but one annoying thing is this Roomlink box that sat on the desk.  It's kind of noisy and the staff's solution was to unplug it at night.  It's louder than my laptop and sounds like it has a hard drive and fan that run constantly.  Of course if you unplug it you have no TV, but then if you're watching TV you're probably not worried about the noise.  Turning the TV off with the remote or pushing the power button on the front will not turn it off.  The power button only turns it on once you plug it back in.  I found myself unplugging it each night or I had to listen to the thing run while I was laying in bed.

I think I have a new favorite hotel in Savannah and like I said if given the chance, I'd gladly stay here again.

There's a few basic things I require of hotels I stay at, one of them being providing the type of room that guests reserve before they arrive, if you cannot handle this one basic tenet of hospitality, then you have no business being in business.

Our rooms were confirmed via email, and when we actually arrived at the hotel we were told that the rooms we paid for were unavailable and that we would have to take a downgrade in accommodations, thankfully my father and brother got the room I reserved for them, however,

The room I reserved was not the suite with balcony I had reserved, it was a much smaller, corner room with no balcony.

When we tried to explain how ludicrous it was that we were not being provided with the rooms we had reserved and paid for, the staff took a very nonchalant attitude to the entire affair, calmly explaining to my family that the 'hotel was booked and these were the only rooms available."

What? I'm sorry but are we in some alternate dimension where hotel guests are given the wrong room and no refund? With absolutely no apology or visit from management to explain why the hotel changed our accommodations without alerting us before we arrived?

There are so many wonderful bed and breakfasts and hotels in Savannah that it's easy to recommend pretty much anything else, including the Hyatt, which is located right next door.

Unless you like arriving at your hotel without any confidence that the rooms you reserved are going to be the rooms provided to you then i recommend you stay away.

For our first time in Savannah we were very pleased with our choice of hotel.  We were considering the sister property, the Mansion on Forsyth, but we definitely were happy we chose this one based on the location.  We much preferred being on the river and so very close to City Market and walked to all of our restaurants and took turns strolling through town and along the river.   Plus, we took the free shuttle to the other property to explore beautiful Forsyth Park which was a bonus!  
We had room # 600 which was a corner with a (VERY small balcony (they all are) as it is a boutique hotel.  Our room was quiet and just far enough away from the Roof top bar which was only noisy on Saturday but not too bad (we always bring earplugs on trips).  Again, our room was generally quiet.  Staff was very friendly but busy at times.  Don't rely on room service..so many walkable places for good food..especially breakfast.   We had breakfast in room one morning and it was mediocre at best.
Decor is artsy..we thought it was chic.  Coffee maker in room features starbucks and it was good!  
PS it is pet friendly but I have to say we NEVER ONCE even heard an animal let alone saw one.  
We would definitely go back and try to get same room!

Two star for the atmosphere and design.

That's it. Overall I was not impressed in the least. I was actually let down compared to other hotels. I called guest services and asked if they had aspirin. Jessie said yes. I arrive at the front desk where another man tells me no they are out and if I want I can walk to the Marriott next door. Really? I guess I should've stayed there then!! Not only that but when I went to the Marriott to get some aspirin from their mini shop , I was told it closed at 10. Seriously guys! You sent me to a closed store. One that I shouldn't have had to go to open or closed. I was told if I was a guest that room service could have gotten it for me at the Marriott. Funny thing is I had a choice between the two and the price difference for the weekend was hundreds but I chose the bohemian because it was St Patrick's day and I wanted true luxury. Turns out I paid hundreds more for a loud ass roof top bar and some cheeky decorations. Fabulous.

I just got home from a wonderful girls trip to Savannah and I'm already thinking about when I can go back! We stayed at The Bohemian and had a lovely time. The hotel and rooms were absolutely beautiful and the staff was incredibly friendly. We were right in the middle of it all with Broughton Street, shopping and restaurants right around the corner. I would recommend a river view room. We got to open the drapes and watch the ships come in while we were getting ready to head out.

I would also say that the hotel has not 1 but 2 great places to eat and have a few drinks. Rocks on the Roof was great at night - I loved sitting outside around the fire overlooking the river. And Rocks on the River became our place to grab some pre-dinner drinks. The bartenders were awesome. I'm not sure if this is a good thing (on my part), but after the first day they already remembered our drinks as soon as we walked in the door. All in all, we were extremely happy with our stay here.

Stayed here with my friend at the end of august.  it's a very cool hotel and the technology aspect is the best i have ever experienced... there is wi-fi and a tv that hooks up to the internet and netflix... it's very cool.

the location of the hotel is stellar... the only negative is that it's VERY loud at night, so unless you are planning on bar hoping till late at night, you will probably be annoyed by the noise.

speaking of bars, the hotel roof bar is apparently the place to be at night... which means a million of people coming in and out of your hotel- it was a zoo. you need a room key to get onto the hotel floors, but still, doesn't seem 100% safe.

the decor is very different, very cool and definitely was luxurious.

Amazing interior and rad staff! From Gavin at the rooftop bar, Lauren at the reception and Dan, who will greet you. Riverfront rooms have amazing sunrises and the room service breakfast was still hot when hit my mouth. Would recommend this to any hip friends.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I have not stayed at the hotel itself. My love for this hotel is the public rooftop bar that overlooks the river. It's one of my favorite places to take a friend in Savannah for a quiet conversation and a good cocktail. It's bohemian-chic decor and top notch view make this a 5 star for me!

Very nice hotel with a great view of the river, well-located and cool interior decorating. The room was really nice with a fantastic shower. I really liked the small sitting room with a view of the river (the room is one room with a alcove for a sitting area and another for the bathroom fixtures).

I used Marriott points and did not have to pay, but I may have a slightly different opinion if I had to fork up $700+ for the room. It was great, but not that great.

The hotel is beautiful.  It is very trendy and in a great location if you want to enjoy walking around the city.  The rooms are spacious and clean.  I'm giving the Bohemian 3 stars because of the service.  There is absolutely no guest service.  I don't think one staff member spoke a word to us during our stay at this hotel which I found really surprising.  I expected at least a hello?  We did have a few staff members brush past us as if we were in their way and annoying them but that was the only interaction.  I would try the Planters Inn for a historic stay and the Westin for a large hotel with a lot of amenities.

My husband and I went for the weekend and I was extremely disappointed since the arrival to the Bohemian Hotel. HATE the decor looks very cheap, never saw an ice maker with white Christmas light, service is very bad, view nothing to comment about
I wanted to leave the hotel immediately after our arrival. Menu both "restaurants" limited and nothing exceptional. I will never come back.

This is, like the Mansion at Forsyth Park, a Kessler property. That goes a long way in explaining a lot: the interior, while sleek and modern, suffers from the unique Kessler/Savannah aesthetic (which you'll also find in SCAD's Gryphon Tea Room--so it is not limited to Kessler alone). This approach to interior design aims for chic but, with its ample use of the color orange, moody low-light, and organic yet often dead botanical matter (like the giant ball of thorns in the dining room), winds up looking like a Martha Stewart Living magazine's Halloween issue. Seriously. If you want something not exactly goth but playfully dark, you might like it . . .  kinda. My main concern is that this motif will seem dated in less than a decade (700 Drayton and the Gryphon Tea Room both already are screaming that they were decorated circa 2005).

The location is loud, yes. It is in walking distance from many of River Street and Bay Street's bars, which will be great for some guests. The front street, Bay Street, is very busy at all hours and where Bay Street and MLK intersect is one of Savannah's most dangerous corners for traffic accidents, so be forewarned. Also, this is a touristy neighborhood but once you go west of MLK down Bay and onto either West Bay or Indian Street you get into a sketchy, industrial, neighborhood. You need to keep your wits about you and stay well to the eastern side of MLK at night. I add this due to the other reviews talking about safe places to park one's car and due to the general security concerns in Savannah, and I say this as someone who lived in the city for a number of years.

The building itself is nice, and the Kessler Group is trying to do clearly innovative things so that should be admired, but the results are lackluster. This is not to say it's not a cute or fun place, but your happiness here will be predicated on what you expect of Savannah in the first place. Take a long look at the Bohemian and other options.

We stayed at the Bohemian for just one night. It was a bit hard to find the entrance to the front of the hotel when you're driving since you will probably pass it the first time, it's not readily marked.

When you first walk into the hotel you know you're not in a typical hotel. The people checking you in are behind desks, not "hotel" desks but big wooden office type desks. We checked in at 3:30 but couldn't get into our room because they said they were still cleaning. We could have checked out bags and roamed the area but we wanted to freshen up first so we waited. On or about 4 PM the clerk said our room was ready and we went up.

There are three elevators in the hotel however only two of them go the floors with rooms and you need your room card to get onto the floor. We were on the top floor. The whole place looked very posh which mean dark lighting, dark carpets and some funky stained glass wall decorations.

When we first got into the room there was a crib in the room, yikes! Not for us so we pushed it into the hallway.

The room was big enough, king size bed, large bathroom with HUGE tub and a separate shower and toilet that was separated by glass doors (more on this later). There was a window that separated the bathroom to the bed area but you could close the shutters so you had more privacy in the bathroom.

The bed area consisted of a bed a desk that made up almost one side of the room and a padded bench which was in front of the window. The bed was very comfortable except we could hear a vibrating/humming noise when we were on it. We couldn't tell if it was coming from another room (filling up the Jacuzzi?) or the roof. The TV was also connected via some sort of computer system that you could use the remote as a mouse and scan channels or websites.

I was a bit creeped out by the ceiling light fixtures in the room. Both in the bathroom and the bedroom there were chandeliers but the light fixtures were encrusted with oyster shells, I mean, totally covered. While at first interesting, it sort of became creepy.

Back to the bathroom, the toilet was in its own room/closet which had a glass door. If you were sitting on the toilet or in the shower for that matter, anyone else in the room (if you didn't close the shutters between the bathroom and bed area) could see you.

The products they provided were really nice and I really enjoyed the shampoo and conditioner.

They had a gym here but we didn't get to try it out however, they didn't have wifi in the rooms, or at least we didn't. We could access the wifi in the restaurant or near the front desks.

The location of the hotel was excellent too. It was along the water and the hotel had a restaurant in the bottom and a roof top bar. You were in close walking distant to other restaurants too.

While we only stayed one night, we would definitely stay here again if we return to Savannah.

Had to leave after we got seated as nobody greeted us, brought us waters, or gave us a full number of menus in 20 minutes!  This is not what you would expect from a Kessler Hotel.  My wife and I got married at their other hotel and always held them in high regard. This spot had worse service than a Best Western buffet. I haven't had a worse experience in 10 plus years.

I like this hotel!  I travel on business quite a bit and saved all my Fairfield Inn points to stay at this property.  We got a river front room and the view is fantastic.  Like a previous reviewer said, I could move into the bathroom, oyster shell chandeliers are too cool.  

The valet parking here is a bit pricey at $25 per night so remember you can park free at the meters on the weekends.

A lot of the poor reviews seem to come from the service at the Rocks, the lounge on the roof top.  It's a typical noisy yet pricey bar and doesn't have the elegant atmosphere of the hotel or its rooms.  We were up there for sunset and the place was pretty busy, not many seats and the wait staff was running to keep up with the clientele.  I think if you go just expecting a bar with a nice view rather than an elegant retreat you won't be disappointed.

Gorgeous. I could have moved into my room. Better yet, the bathroom. I kept finding excuses to go in. Seriously. Was that beautiful. Rooftop bar was great. Nice vibe, perfect weather the night I went. Beer and cheese plate were spot on...sugar/clove covered grapes anyone? Mmmm...

Breakfast the next morning, eggs Benedict with crab and asparagus - and a side of grits- was amazing. It wouldn't have killed our server to smile - or attempt it- though. I guess she felt differently.

Upon checkout, the valet handed each of us a chilled bottle of water for our drive. Nice touch.

If you appreciate great decor and architectural finishes, stay here!

We selected the Bohemian for our birthday weekend in Savannah as I love all things eclectic/bohemian  - and I found the website images enticing.  I usually stay across the river at the Westin - but chose to try a different venue and the Bohemian Hotel is relatively new to the area.

Even though we knew it was a boutique hotel, hence the limited amenities, we were hoping for a much better overall experience.

Positive Attributes:  I love the decor in the rooms and the jacuzzi that opens up to the bedroom is a nice touch.  It is also well located on River Street and the Rocks on the Roof bar is a popular hangout for young partygoers.

HOWEVER, we were a trifle disappointed with the speed and quality of service and the cleanliness of the room (I had to ask for an item to be replaced immediately upon arrival as it obviously had not been cleaned) was below par for a hotel of this caliber.

My husband, who hardly ever complains, was not happy that you have to personally join Netflix in order to watch any new releases and was less than impressed with the food service.

Unfortunately, the lovely jacuzzi was not enough to make us pay those rates to return to this hotel.

Very nice, eclectic vibe in a town notable for historic preservation. The rooms are big, clean and super comfortable. Free wifi and very close to everything that you want to walk too. The staff re very helpful too. I left my wedding ring behind and they found and shipped it to me.
The river is primarily commercial and also houses many tourist water holes. Rooms along this side have the potential to get noisy from drunks and ship traffic, caution when booking.

So super ultra extra swanky!

The Man-Friend and I had decided to take a random day trip from New Orleans and see where we wound up. 10ish hours later we had made it to Jacksonville, and not being particularly fond of North Florida, decided to head toward Savannah, a city with which I have had a fairly consistent love affair for quite a few years.

We scrambled to find a room at the last minute, late at night, and we were looking for something a few steps above a Holiday Inn....

Holy Crap did we get lucky. The Bohemian Hotel is easily the swankiest most luxurious and decadent hotel I have EVER stayed in. We checked in around 11pm and met Lavernitra, who was so gracious. With a few magic keystrokes she upgraded us to the super ultra fancy pants corner room, and sent up a bottle of wine and a cheese plate.

The room itself is almost overwhelming. Floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river, flat screen TV with Netflix and internet, soft jazz playing when we walked in,  Jacuzzi tub for 2, velvet headboard, and a CHANDELIER MADE OUT OF OYSTER SHELLS!

We slept like ageing decadent rockstars. Woke up in the morning to the most delicious Eggs Benedict I have ever had, delivered to my bed, and the wonderful room service lady who helped me make math on the check as I cannot count past 3 before I have coffee.

We spent the day exploring Savannah like tourists, which was wonderful, and returned to the Bohemian determined to find somewhere special for dinner.

Lo and behold, the ever helpful, always friendly Lavernitra is at the desk again! She recommended restaurants, made us reservations and sent us on our way.

Dinner (Vic's on the River) and adventures after, were awesome y'all, but that's a totally different review.

Lavernitra (seriously, does she ever sleep?) checked us out in the morning and sent us on our way.

Stay at this hotel. It is GORGEOUS. clean, friendly, accommodating and luxurious. And when you check in, see if Lavernitra is working during your stay, because she is MAGIC.

My husband and I went to the rooftop restaurant to bring in the new year we had a blast, but it got off to a little rocky start. We were starving because we waited to just eat a late dinner there. The bartender gave me a menu and asked for a CC, then refused to take the order and told me a server would do it (which a bouncer said was unusual) we got there about 930 and there were no seats. Finally about an hr later we stumbled on seats and ordered. Happy we didn't leave because the food was amazing! My hubby had chicken and waffles and I had quesadilla and both were not typical, they exceeded expectations. Would def return on a visit back to savannah.

It was our anniversary week and my husband surprised me with a trip full of activities.  He chose this hotel based on the level but think we would have been happier at a holiday inn.  

We arrived early and called for an early check-in (early as in 2pm) and said "they could not promise an early check-in."  An odd response but no big deal at that point.  We chose to walk around and shop until our room was ready after four.  
Upon arriving, frustration set in. Parking was a nightmare which proved quite convenient for the wallets of the valet workers.  Check-in took a very long time and we were denied a king bed.  We paid full price, it was our anniversary and reservations were made well in advance.  I did not understand this.  Again they said, they couldn't guarantee bed types.  Really?  I'd like to know what you could
Guarantee.  Yeah, that's what I wanted to know!

To compensate for the bed, they decided to move us up a floor..  Ok, that would make sense if we had a view of the river - but we didn't.  We moved up to have a better view of the street.  Cool.  

After getting ready for the night we went downstairs to receive our car to make our dinner reservations.  We waited 30 minutes for valet to get our car which caused us to be late to dinner that was .5 miles away.
Because we were late to dinner we were also late to the musical in which we had tickets.  None of that would have even made me that upset had the valet worker not blamed the tardiness on me.  After waiting for 25 minutes I remembered something in the room I could grab - not a necessity but something to pass the time because we knew the worker was nowhere near having our car ready.  When I came back down, his boss was there watching.  He said to us, "I know you have been waiting on her so now I will go get your car."  Wow.  

Most of this could have been overlooked on its own, but these mistakes combined with the price you pay to stay at this hotel seem unforgivable.  

It got two stars for unique decor and lighting but that isn't even amazing.
We will not be going back and if you decide to try it for the bohemian experience, be prepared to be denied lot of service for a high price.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Savannah and stayed here. We couldn't have been happier. The rooms were very nice, uniquely designed and service was great. You couldn't ask for a better location if you want access to everything in the historic district. It's located right in the middle of river and bay streets so it's a short walk to just about anything you'd want to see or do downtown. Definitely recommended for anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Checked into the Bohemian hotel on a Sat evening and stayed three nights. The 5 star rating is for the level of service. It was excellent - from the valet, to the bellman, the front desk staff and guest services. The decor is not luxurious - more fun and eclectic. Be aware - the rooms are rather dark, which is great for sleeping. I only wish the bathroom was brighter - important for applying make up. The king size bed was comfortable and we had a river view room. It was fun seeing the massive cargo ships go right by our window. The location can't be beat. It's right on the river and close to City Market. TIP: save the $25 daily valet rate and park  in the public garage directly across the street for $10 a day. Better yet, go to the visitor's center and get a parking pass and pay just $7 a day. We learned this on our last day. Gym is small, but adequate. Has a treadmill, an elliptical, bike and free weights.

Location, location, location.  This is the place to stay!  The back of the hotel is on West Bay Street where you leave your car with valet and enter the hotel lobby, the front is on River Street.  

The front desk is in need of a shape up.  They have two desks with cozy chairs where they are supposed to sit on their behinds.  When we arrived, only one was occupied.  And there was a line waiting for some attention.  Apparently, their check in procedure is a bit too complicated to be handled like a normal hotel.  When we finally got our turn, we didn't realize it, but we crowded in front of some gentlemen who were patiently waiting.  Shouldn't the desk person know who is next?  Well, and of course our room was not ready for our 4 pm check in.  Bumbling along, we were told that the bell hop would temporarily hold our luggage and the bags would be transported to our room as soon as it was available.  And we would receive a magic phone call to say that our room was ready.  Also, we could not have our key until after the room was ready.  That's okay, we want to stop by and visit the inefficient front desk again.  Time is wasting, you fool and we have lots to see and do in Savannah.  We don't want to spend any more time here with you!

We spent some time in the amazing hotel roof top bar.  We then spent time walking and shopping along River Street.  Yes, it took that long to get our room ready.  And of course, when we got to our room, no bags.

The hotel is not for everyone.  My bf thought the hotel hallways were dark and spooky.  I loved the dimmed halls and the crazy beads strung on dim light fixtures.  Our room was awesome, huge, really big, lots of room to move.  Trendy furnishings, the bed had an 8 foot tall headboard, partially clad in tufted velvet  The bath was open to the room and the shower was probably more than 8 feet deep.  The tiling inside it is beautiful, kind of like wood-look slats.  The water closet was in a closet.  With beautiful dark wood big slats plantation shutters.  The bath sink scones were seashell covered as was the huge chandelier about the bed.  Our room was a corner room, so we had a river view lounging area complete with a monster chaise with leather look covering.  You could close the area off when not in use by pulling closed heavy red crushed velvet drapes.

Although our room was across the hall from the gym, also near the crushed ice machine and facing the party atmosphere of River Street, the room was very quiet.  When we entered our room, the Bose was playing good tunes.  Loved all the special touches of our room.  I can't say enough about how great our room was.  Another thing I liked, you need your hotel room key to use the hotel elevator.  That was a much appreciated security feature.  However, I have to say, I think Savannah is a safe and welcoming city.

Another great thing about this hotel is the valet staff.  They seemed to double team us when we arrived and were so welcoming and friendly.  And they happily readied our car to send us off, getting us bottled water for our road trip.

Why just three stars?  The check in is not really forgivable.  I would think that most hotel check-in's occur around 4 pm.  And they weren't staffed properly for that.  This Kessler Hotel is now under the Marriott umbrella of hotels and they should function as that.  The front desk was not only inefficient, they were also not friendly.  Plus, our room wasn't ready.  Mr. Marriott, please stop by and teach these people how to serve and treat the guests.  Another missing star for billing.  We were overcharged for our room.  Breakfast was included with our stay and of course, they charged us for our breakfast.  I even noted on our receipt that breakfast was included.  In over ten years of staying pretty much exclusively with Marriott, I have never had a billing issue of any sort.  Congrats to this team for being the first.  Sure, calling to get the credit took less that a few minutes.  But, I will have to follow up to double check my statement.  But I should not have to worry about such nonsense.  Would I stay here, again?  As much as I love this place, probably not.

This was a great place to hang-out...definitely a fun place in Savannah.
The hotel itself is chic and modern, but still very relaxed and casual.  

The rooftop area was lively...I will say that it seemed to try to be all things to all people: there was a live band, a cool setting and a TV for watching sports...I guess whatever you're into, you'll find it here.

This hotel is by far the best hotel I've stayed at.  Great river view - apparently Savannah river is a very active commerce waterway with huge container ships floating by.  As mentioned by others, staff is professional, courteous and extremely helpful.  Other than its great location, hotel itself is several steps above what you'll typically find at other Marriott hotels.  Everything from toiletries to room deco... it was just outstanding.  I hear people complaining about price but honestly, the same type of hotel in NYC would cost at least $600/night.  IMO its a great value for what you get.

This is the only the second Autograph collection property I've experienced. The first was the Cosmopolitan in Vegas. I can officially say that 100% of the Autograph Collection properties I've stayed at are exceptional.

- Fantastic bathrooms; Jacuzzi tub is ridiculous (get the corner room)
- Exceptional decor in the rooms
- Great location
- Excellent service
- Solid rooftop

- Weak water pressure in the bathroom sinks
- Gym is tiny
- Platinum benefit: $10 room credit per day (for 2 guests) for breakfast is a bit lame

What better way to celebrate a birthday than a roadtrip! It was my first visit to the historic city of Savannah. We cashed in some hard-earned Marriott points for two nights at the lovely Bohemian Hotel. The corner suite featured floor-to-ceiling windows on two walls, plush leather armchairs and cool accents like an oyster shell chandelier over the bed and a driftwood floor-lamp. When we entered, there was a jazz CD playing, Bohemian branded and available for sale. Great musical selections.

Staff was professional and courteous at all times. They are well-trained, and do their best to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. I agree with another reviewer that the Platinum credit of $10 per day per room comes up short in comparison with other properties that don't have a concierge level.

The staff is exceptional   The housekeepers did a wonderful job and the bell men were most helpful. Dan, a transplant from Maine, was very helpful. Room service was quick and brought by a very cheerful young lady.
BUT. The decor was quite different. Perhaps the decorator was trying to replicate a pirate's ship. The velvet headboard was a little too much and glass bathroom door awkward.

This place definitely has a great bar on top. Take the elevator to the roof and enter the best view of Savannah's night scene. Cocktail dresses and bonfires on a roof! What more can a single man ask for? The river's sparkling lights stretch out over the panoramic view with a breeze that can't be felt street level. Drinks are made with a smile and poured just right; no skimping at this fine establishment. Check it out!

When walking into the hotel there was no one to greet us or open the door. I hadn't driven to the hotel as I live in Savannah and was out for the evening and on a whim decided to check out the hullabaloo of the Bohemian as I have stayed at the Mansion of Forsyth Park and just fell in love. My partner and I meandered into the lobby looking for someone to help us. I was told that the computer system wasn't working and that if i wanted to reserve a room I should call this 1-800 number that was given to me on the brochure. There were two people in the lobby both seemingly perplexed by the computer system error.  I called the 1-800 number provided still a little unsure why one of the people in the lobby couldn't have just called the number and made the reservation for me as was the service I feel would have been exemplified the Kessler brand. Nonetheless, I called the line, made the reservation for a room that had a tub in it, river view, king sized bed. When I realize where our room is we have to take the elevator down from the lobby as our room was on the second floor. Upon arriving in the room was excited by the decor and the layout of the room. Enjoyed the decor and the bedding,  really loved that you could access your Netflix account via room television. Paying more for a river view room that you can't enjoy because the windows need to stay pulled unless you want EVERYONE on the street to see you certainly felt like a rip off though.

When my partner got into the tub for a relaxing soak she turned the jets on only to be SPRAYED with water, the jets are set to start on the highest level of power compared to starting on the lowest level and then you can gradually adjust the jets to be stronger if you desire. At this point we were laughing but honestly, I felt extremely frustrated. As I got out of the tub I realized that one of the light bulbs in the bathroom chandelier was MISSING. not burnt out, not dim but completely MISSING. Once again, at a price point of a fine hotel, that was not what I was expecting nor what I had experienced with other fine hotels.

Perhaps the most nit picky, but alas most inconvenient aspect of our room was that all the light fixtures in the main room, less one desk lamp, were all connected to a SINGLE light switch with no dimmer! The halogen light for the painting in our room on the same light switch as the chandelier as the same as the wall sconces. What a horrible oversight! There are so many things that I enjoy about fine hotels and one of them is how in tune the builders and designers are when making the rooms, they give all the thought to details. Care for how the guest would interact in the room seemed not to be a forethought. Overall the room was completely unsatisfying. I left in the morning after being awoken by the house keeping staff who apparently had a hub right next to my room because at 7 AM there were a group of voices talking loud enough to wake me.

My partner and I enjoy staying at fine hotels and have stayed at many fine hotels throughout the country and none, NONE were as disappointing as The Bohemian in Savannah.

Just stay at the Mansion on Forsyth Park and forget all about the Bohemian.

The two stars are for the location and the fabulous decor. The valet, room service and rooftop bar staffs were wonderful and attentive - and we would give them 5 stars. But the lack of more stars are for the generally pathetic service - which I will qualify up front. There are two staff (concierge) that were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and made an effort to follow through on questions/requests. I wish I could remember the women's names. But the other rotating concierge were so lackluster, so seemingly apathetic - or perhaps untrained, that we just had to laugh at the constant comedy of poor customer service. The best description we could come up with is that the concierge staff felt like kids whose parents were out of town for the weekend, and they just really didn't care what happened.

But thank you to the staff that was friendly, courteous and attentive. We loved Savannah and will definitely be back - but not at the Bohemian.

My husband and I stayed a different hotel - the Andaz- which was great but were steered here by our bartender at our hotel. He guided us to the cotton sail for an AMAZING sunset and then suggested going to the Bohemian for dinner and drinks.... He was right. The food at the Bohemian was amazing and our server Grant did a GREAT JOB. VERY attentive and answered all of our  questions. He was a great guy- great service. Nice place, great view. We would def return for their amazing shrimp dish- we ordered a second plate it was so good. Getting a couple of their apps to share was a perfect dinner for us!

This is our third time staying at the hotel, and I hate to say it but the service during this stay was substandard. Service at the restaurant was horrifically slow. Housekeeping did not clean our room the first night we stayed and so expected a cleaned room the following day but sadly we were mistaken. nope.nothing...really? I called down and they said that we had to allow them until 6:00 to get the rooms cleaned. Um, No! I used to love this hotel but I'm afraid the love affair might be over.

Beautiful location, great views, absolutely atrocious service.  ATROCIOUS.  

We came for pre-dinner drinks and again for a night cap after a party for a wedding.  Service was slow/sluggish and orders were wrong.  Little did we know that this was just the tip of the iceberg.  

We asked for our tab 3 times, then when our waitress showed no desire to bring them after so many requests (she kept walking past our table without making eye contact), we went outside to find our waitress (Ranay) flapping her gums to plead for our tab, then we waited another 25 minutes for our server (who charged us 18 percent gratuity and thus didn't give a damn).  We were given wrong tabs almost an hour after we requested them.  One of them had a previous customer's bill with $11 cash in it.  We kindly pointed this out instead of pocketing it, and then had to wait another 15 minutes to wait on her to fix it (no apologies).  

Won't be back, wish it had even remotely competent service because it has a lot I potential.  Can't remember the last time I saw this much lethargy and apathy.   Lamps are gorgeous (oyster shells) but nothing else is any good.  Go to any other place nearby instead!

We really wanted to love this place but it just didn't happen.  Based on the reviews and the price we were looking forward to a luxuriousness long weekend but were disappointed.

We were traveling with another couple and we both arrived to the hotel late morning.  It's complacently expected that arriving that early that rooms wouldn't be ready.   The other couple had upgraded to a suite and we had a standard king room on the river front.  What was disappointing about check in was that while our room was ready by 2:30 the other couple's wasn't until about 4:30.  This was really unfortunate for two reasons..1. one the other couple was ill and really needed to lie down and 2. there is precious little seating in the lobby so we couldn't all sit together and wait for the suite.

Now let's talk service, while friendly it certainly isn't exceptional as one would expect for a hotel of level.  Not only did housekeeping fail us with check in they continued to fail the three days that we were there.  They consistently got to the suite so late in the day that we were already back from sightseeing for the day and looking for a little rest before heading out to dinner and the suite wasn't made up yet.  On top of that when we phoned down to the desk and asked that have housekeeping come make up the room, housekeeping never got the message.

The views from the riverside are fantastic and it's really cool to watch the huge barges go by.  The standard rooms are pretty typical hotel rooms with comfortable beds and good TVs.  They are not exceptional by any means though.  The bathrooms again are nice but nothing really special.  FYI no tub just a shower.  The layout in the suite is strange and though on the river side did not have a balcony.  All in all we were happier that we had the balcony than the bit of extra square footage that the suite provided without the balcony.

I attended the bar expecting a wonderful roof top experience. However, I was assaulted by some rowdy patrons and I asked for the ones responsible to be kicked out. Instead, they were allowed to stay. The food and environment are amazing but I never expected the general manger to allow me to be accosted and the person responsible to stay at the establishment. I will never return!

We just returned from Savannah and our second stay at The Bohemian Hotel. I still love this hotel, but I have to say I was a bit turned off by the fact that the make up mirror was so filthy - full of the previous guest's zits. Disgusting. I had called housekeeping and asked them to clean it. When I returned after our day out, it was still dirty eventhough our room had been serviced. I called them again, reported this and left for a walk. Upon our return, it had been cleaned to the best of their ability. I cannot for the life of me understand someone that can afford 300 to 500 per room, how they do not wipe the mirror when done with it and how housekeeping could have missed this multiple times.

I love The Bohemian and the proximity to everything, but this really grossed me out. This time we averaged about $300 per night. Is it too much to ask for cleanliness?

The water pressure was better this time around and the view of the river and watching the cargo ships was amazing.

I am debating whether The Bohemian gets a return visit from me or if I am moving on... with a couple of new boutique hotels that have recently opened, I have choices to make.

Stayed here over the last week of Dec 2014 through Jan 2 2015. This hotel is in an excellent location and the service was superb. Yes the room decor is eclectic but it's a hotel not something you are going to live with forever. We had a corner room overlooking the historic district. Being a corner room it was quite large it had a couple club chairs and ottoman. The shower had excellent water pressure and the sink area was super spacious. We had breakfast daily in River Rock and lunch once. Went up to Rocks on the Roof a couple times. Make sure you enjoy the views from all sides. Food was very good. We walked everywhere from this location. It was a great hotel to be in New Years Eve. Easy to walk to the celebration but not too noisy when the thousands continued to leave around. 2 AM.

Reviewing the rooftop bar/club.  Crowded as hell on a Saturday night, and very little organization amongst the bartenders.  The DJ was terrible, and could not mix two songs together if he tried.  Train wreck after train wreck.  And what was up with his wedding party DJ setup?  The music can barely be heard outside of the bar area.  Wack.

Drinks were over-priced and service was insanely slow.  No bargains to be had here.

The hotel staff outside of the rooftop bar were very friendly, and extremely helpful when we enlisted them to help us find La Chica's missing cell phone, so because of that, I'm adding an extra star.  Otherwise, this would have been a 'meh' experience.

We were looking forward to a comfortable stay but were quickly disappointed. The carpet in our room had so much "freshener" in it that it gave me a headache. My dog refused to even set a paw on it. Must have had even a worse headache! Noise in the room from some mechanical equipment and the hallways were dark and musty. Our room felt less than clean, and the bathroom was separated from the room with a curtain! Would not stay there again.

Nice hotel, just not quite as cool as it thinks it is. Although at random intervals you will see Forest Gump sitting in lobby waiting for a tour bus.

Everyone on the staff was excellent. Very friendly, courteous, helpful. The restaurant wait staff was really great especially at breakfast.

The room is very nice but just a bit overdone like every other Bohemian I've stayed at. The bathroom is very nice and the bed was comfortable. I don't know who made the call on the crustacean light fixtures but someone should have stopped them. I kept waiting for some damn sea creature to crawl out of the one above the bed. The room was also really humid even with the AC running colder than ideal.

We had drinks at the roof top which was a pretty cool area. We ate several meals at the restaurant and they were all good but not amazing.

The main downside is you pretty much have to valet your car and they park it off site. So on top of valets driving your car, something I'm not a fan of, it takes about 20 minutes to get the car brought around. It's also $30 a day which seems quite high for the area. Maybe it was bad timing but every time we tried to park in the nearby public garage it was full.

We spent one night here, and found this hotel to be charming, although a bit pricey. I guess the great location can demand that, though.

We found the staff to be very guest-attentive and very service-oriented. The room was very comfortable and spacious, although I've got to admit having a room with the toilet just a foot from the outside wall is a rather unusual layout, especially when you have a view of the riverfront, and people walking along it have a view of you. Oh well, if you're not bashful, it's not a problem.

The only fault I could find with the hotel is the rooftop bar, where it is very difficult to find seating, especially for four. The entire bar area is very noisy, and as someone else noted, the music does not really flow well--it's almost like the DJ is switching from '80's to R&B to C&W to Grunge (not really that bad, but you get the idea).

The location is truly great--get off the elevator at the 1st level, and you're at the riverfront, or get off at the Lobby Level (4th floor), and you're right on West Bay St. one block from Bull.

The art throughout the hotel is very interesting, although it won't appeal to everyone. Reservations can be made through Marriott, FWIW.

Wasn't impressed with the rooftop bar.   Waited forever to get a drink and she never asked if I wanted to see a menu.   The gentleman next to me asked for glass of cab and how long it had been open.   She said a few days ago but it is still good.   He said since there isn't much left would you mid opening a new bottle.   Little did she know I would have asked for the same glass after that bottle was opened.   She would not open it.   Horrible service.  She had no idea way was going on and who was next in line etc..    Not sure of this falls under the hotel or the bar.    The hotel should be responsible for making all guest experiences awesome. There are way to many other choices.  The only reason I came to check this out is because my best friend wants to get married and this hotel was on her list.    All I can say is NEXT!

If I could give this place less than one star I would. When we checked in to this five star priced hotel, the desk clerk, Alexander, assured us we had been given a "great room." When we returned to our eighth floor room after dinner that night we learned it was anything but. No one bothered to warn us that a full band was playing directly above us in a night club jammed with no less than 300 people. The pounding music and partying went on until 1 am.  When we complained the desk staff was incredulous that we didn't appreciate our "great room."  The manager Jeremy offered us an insultingly small discount and free breakfast for our inconvenience but made no commitment that his staff would warn the next unwitting guests. We won't be returning. There are some great hotels in Savannah. The Bohemian isn't one of them.

This place is exquisite. My favorite part is the roof top bar, where you experience breath-taking views of the city, including the bridge. The only reason I did not rate this a five star is because the band was kind of a buzz kill. They were not upbeat at all, and seemed to be singing 80's sad songs. It didn't match the crowd or the atmosphere. It brought the overall mood of the place down. The drinks are a little pricey on the rooftop as well, but it's worth it for the view. Our server was very attentive and fun, and was very accommodating. I wouldn't visit Savannah without at least stopping here.
