Beautiful Hotel, Friendly and helpful staff.   Bed was a bit soft for my taste, but the room was clean and tastefully designed.  My only complaint was they could use a larger staff for check in.  We had to wait for about 25 minutes to get checked in.  We were a bit early.  Check in is at 3:00.  We were there at 1:00 and our room was not ready; however,  they took our cell phone number and called when our room was ready.  The Valet kept our bags for us so we could go see the sites.  The hotel is on the oposite side of the river from historic Savannah, but they do have a water taxi that runs every 20 minutes.  So if you want to BE IN historic Savannah, I would look around a bit more.  The water taxi does not run 24 hours a day, and the taxi ride back to the hotel if you miss the last water taxi (1 AM) is EXPENSIVE!!!

We decided to stay at the Westin for one reason, the view, so I went all out and went with the 16th floor balcony river/city view.  The good news, the view was everything I was hoping for.  We could see the entire downtown area, and the river bridge...it was awesome, especially at night.  Outside of the view, the room was average, with one of the most comfortable beds on the planet, but the bathroom left something to be desired. The place had a cozy bar, which was a good place to grab a brew before getting a $10 taxi across the bridge to the real fun.  There is one restaurant on premises, but if you spend time eating in your hotel, while in Savannah, you have problems.  One downer was the $20 resort fee, which I think gave me a bottle of water a day......it was good water though.  Maybe if I was a golfer I would have really enjoyed it, as the course looks beautiful.

On the outside, the Westin is a majestic resort, ominously looking toward Savannah's famous River Street on the other side of the water, just a short water taxi ride away from the city. The grounds are sprawling and well kept, the pool sparkling blue and there's even the scent of perfume wafting through the grand lobby entrance (albeit piped in behind some lush foliage).

But take the elevator up a couple floors, and one is instantly transported to a run-of-the-mill hotel you'd find in any urban neighborhood. The hallways are not well kept. Many times, I had to step over dirty dishes and piles of soiled linens to make my way back to my room.

The housekeeping schedule seems a bit sporadic, too, one day knocking on my door at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. the following day and then not at all the next day. Which probably explains the forks and empty glasses in the hallways. Gross. Housekeeping is just not around as frequently as they should be in such a grandiose establishment.

And would it kill them to provide some sort of complimentary continental breakfast? Sure, the single-serve Starbucks coffee in the rooms is nice, but how about a muffin or a piece of fruit? Hello, is this thing on?

We did luck out with a corner room, which gave us a great view of Savannah and the sun setting behind the bridge. And we were there for a conference, so we got a good rate, but still. I expected a little more given the exterior.

Normally we don't stay at the high end hotels and resorts, we just aren't that kind of couple but that particular weekend we decided to splurge.  I am so glad we did!  We had a beautiful, huge room, near the top of the hotel with a river view.  The bed was big and comfortable.  The staff was friendly.  We used the concierge desk one time to make reservations at The Chart House and everything went wonderfully.  We had a relaxing and wonderful getaway.  We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and would love to stay there again in the future.  One of the things we enjoyed was the complimentary lemonade in the lobby.  It was delicious!

Beautiful hotel on the river. The ferry takes you across the river to downtown/ historic Savannah. The ferry runs on an exact schedule. The grounds are beautifully maintained. You can sit by the pool and there's a firepit to keep you warm if you need. The pool is open until 11 pm. There's complimentary lemonade near the front desk... delicious on a warm day!

The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The beds are heavenly! Their restaurant, Aqua Star, is excellent for dinner and especially for brunch. There is a resort fee that's added onto the daily rate. There's wireless internet throughout the hotel.

I would highly recommend the Westin Savannah.

I stayed here back in 2007. This was a great place. Love that's across the river and enjoy the ferry ride into town.

The hotel staff was extremely attentive and the rooms were immaculate. Lets not forget those Westin Heavenly beds. I highly recommend staying here, being on the other side of the river is a great retreat from main street Savanna.

It's a nice hotel, but a little isolated.  If you wanted to wake up and play tennis or golf, then by all means stay here.  If you wanted to wake up and walk around Savannah, you'd be better off staying in the historic district.

The hotel is what you'd expect a Westin resort to be - very nice, well appointed, etc.  Was a little disappointed in no airport transport, but oh well.

Definitely not a 4- Star hotel. Shower temp is horrible, takes several minutes to get warm and then it constantly changes from warm to scalding hot!!! Bathtub drain has been clogged since the first day, so you get to stand in the dirty water during your shower. Also, the ferry trip across the river is very inconsistent in departure times and what should take about 5 minutes, takes about 20 minutes. Don't plan on getting anywhere in a hurry. Also, the parking and "resort" fee is $20.00 per day and you have to park 150 yards away outside in an uncovered parking lot (better hope it's not raining}. The hotel automatically charges your  credit card $50 per day {in case you drink one of their bottles of water or watch a PPV movie. But. don't worry about it...they will credit back your account in 72 hrs. Really??? WTH?? Very pretentious atmosphere for a mediocre hotel. The Marriott across the river is a much better hotel.

We stayed here in July 2010. This is Luxury hotel with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Rooms are nice and modern, resort style pool inc jacuzzi. Good food! The FREE ferry takes you across the river to downtown Savannah. This is 5 min fun trip.
We have unbelievable river view room: huge ship were passing by from time to time and that was unforgettable experience!!!
If you have kids take alligator tour. it's Fun! And we always enjoyed cold lemonade in lobby.
Free wireless internet a little bit slow.
    Hey, also Free parking!
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! Thank You Westin for Good Time!

Stayed in the @starwoodbuzz property the Westin Savannah Harbor. Nice hotel, great views of the river and old Savannah. Nice clean hotel and facilities.

I am staying in 5 Starwood Hotels in 6 weeks, so far this one is the best.

If you come here- try to get a room over looking the river. Very relaxing. Service is good. The place has southern charm. Great food, as well. A ferry runs between the Westin -old Savannah across the river.

Only negative - wireless internet seemed slow, but at this place you don't care as much.

Great location - awesome golf course and spa.  There is a free ferry that quickly transports you to the other side where all the shopping and restaurants are.  They have a great outside pool right on the river and there is pool service.  The loungers are really comfy and plenty of seating areas.  Outside propane fire places that throw enough heat to keep you cosy as you enjoy the gorgeous weather.   Our room was clean and well-appointed.  I found the customer service to be excellent - the staff, especially Leah and Stephanie, were awesome!

I have to say, I've stayed at a number of hotels in Savannah and this one is by far my favorite. The staff is friendly, funny, and very accomodating, the beds are comfortable, the pool is huge, the view is fasinating and the free ferry across the river makes the location private, but also very convenient.  I'll never stay anywhere else after this experience.

Oh - and the food is OUTSTANDING. I was very pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

I always have high expectation out of Westin. And they never done me wrong.... Gorgeous and spacious room facing the river.... What's not to like? I also love the green option where I get to opt out of room service and get $5 credit for food....

The ferry takes you to the other side of the river... and the location right next to the convention center makes it really convenient for conference. What can I say? They're expensive, but worth every dime!!

    For the golf course....

Great course, a little pricey, decent, snobbish service, but horrific infestation of Mosquitoes.  I will never play here in the summer again.  Killed five in one swipe.

    Good course for winter.

We love the Westin Savannah and try to visit a few times a year. We had a nice long weekend  which we enjoyed very much. We initially had booked a golf view, however Aaron and Ashley were very accommodating to move us into a river view. We enjoyed our time at the pool and bar with both David's...they both took very good care of us! The only constructive comment was the bartender Scott, who should be moved to a bartender  job where he has no interaction with customers. He was very slow to make drinks, bring the check ( had to ask 3x at the bar over 30 minutes) and didn't seem to be at all interested in the customers. The other bartenders couldn't be more engaging, particularly Miguel. We look forward to another visit very soon!

This review is for the Heavenly Spa by Westin only, NOT THE HOTEL or Golf course.

I was in Savannah and we wanted to get couples massages. Heavenly was able to accommodate. The cool thing was they had a shuttle driver that picked you up from the main pier area and took you to the hotel. We had two great conversations with the same driver who was a SCAD student and that made it a good day to connect and chat with someone.

    The Atmosphere
~Liked the white candles on the walls, and the white drapery on the celling. Made it look like heaven.
~Enjoyed the peach ginger tea. They were out of snacks, which was disappointing.

    The Service
~Really it was just ok. Nothing special, nothing to write home about. A normal relaxing 30 minute massage.

AQUA BAR: This review  references the Aqua Bar at the WESTIN HOTEL. I will try to be brief and to the point. I dined during the seafood buffet on Saturday the 12 th of May. My experience was below a standard I'm used to, especially for a four star hotel. The display of food had limited choices. The fruit bar had only 2 choices of fruit; watermelon and pineapple chunks, even though this is the season for fruit.
The crab legs were dry, and not readily available. I had blackened salmon which lacked any special flavor worth remembering. It took 12 minutes to get a refill on my ice tea, 8 minutes the second time. And a total of 25 minutes before anyone ask me if I needed anything. The wait staff was non attentive.
I gave one star for the view during dining and another for the hotel. I could have spent half on River street and walked away truly satisfied from a dining experience, but I chose this place because of the four star status it has, what a mistake.
I cannot nor will I recommend this place for a seafood feast, and I will not  visit this particular restaurant in the future. This is my opinion and I take full ownership of it, it is written without being vindictive, nor am I seeking any future monetary gain from posting this. I am not a competitor.

My wife and I stayed at the Westin for one night while we were visiting Savannah.  The property is very nice, as were the rooms.  I also liked the location, which is right across the river from Savannah.  The big disappointment at this hotel was their food and service.  We wanted to have some lunch when we arrived, so we went to their restaurant and sat outside.  It took over 20 minutes before a waiter arrived, and then the service was just as slow throughout our lunch.  The menu was sparse, with only about 4 or 5 things to choose from.  I ordered the flatbread chicken sandwich, which was dry and not very good.  My wife had the peel and eat shrimp, which were just ok.  For that and two iced teas, we paid $40 plus tip, which was a complete rip off.  The iced tea was $3/glass - yikes!  Our service experience at the pool ordering drinks was not much better.  Very s-l-o-w.

The positives at this hotel were good.  Nice hotel, nice room, comfy bed, very clean.  The service and food was subpar though, enough to the point of having to rate this only 3 stars - ok, but a little disappointing given the potential here.

I always love staying at Westin Resorts and this one is hands down a favorite.

Check in was seamless and the customer service was stellar. I had a room overlooking the Savannah River which was a big plus. The bedding and pillows were comfy, fluffy, down filled (a must for Miss Mira) and the room was spot on clean.

The hotel is directly next to the convention center which is super convenient as I had to work a booth there all week. Central Savannah is a ferry ride away...not at all inconvenient and was actually quite fun, especially at night after a few pops.

If you are the type to work out while on the road, the gym is a little trek down the road located at the golf course. There is also a spa for those who need a little pampering.

The hotel bar was a lot of fun and has a decent wine selection.

Loved my stay here and did not want to return to Cali.

My wife and I opted for a bit of a staycation for our second anniversary and we ended up deciding between the Avia downtown and the Westin across the river. I'm happy that we ended up at the Westin because the view out our window really made the difference.

There was a beautiful wedding going on that evening so we got some additional lovely scenery on the house. The pool was inviting as was the hot tub later that night. Expect a mix in clientele, as we were privy to some jackassery upon walking in the door: a couple of frat 'nozzles acting like gay stereotypes because ... honestly, I don't know why. Some people just die without attention I guess.

That said, most everything was great but menus were decidedly sparse at their cafe and the waitstaff was slow to take orders. Other than that everyone was friendly and helpful.

Great getaway nested in Savannah, Ga.  Came here to visit and instantly fell in love with the place.  How can you beat a place where you take water taxi across to River Street~!

If you are planning to stay, request for room with river view ( highly recommended). It was amazing to watch big cargo ships pass by while sitting down in your room.  Staffs are nice and ambiance is just heavenly.

This hotel saved us after a nightmare experience over at one of the "resorts" on Tybee Island. We managed to get out of our stay over there, and when we called the Westin they were more than happy to accommodate us... even at 99% occupancy on a Saturday night.

They assured us that even though there were no more river front rooms available, they did have a room for us. Upon check in, we were given a free upgrade to the 15th floor with a private balcony. Even the non-river-front rooms still have a great view of the river and some golf courses.

The staff was friendly, helpful, and truly saved our anniversary weekend.

My wife and I stayed here in November 2012.  We planned a last minute anniversary trip to Savannah after Hurrican Sandy ruined our primary plans.  But this alternate trip turned out to be a great one.
My wife suggested The Westin after she stayed here for a work trip.  Even though the hotel is not in town and across the river, we didn't mind taking the free ferry into downtown.  The room rate was much lower than the comparible hotels in downtown and seemed like it had much more to offer.
The gentleman that checked us in gave us a room with an awesome view of the river.  I think we were supposed to be on the other side, but he must have switched us once he heard it was our anniversary.  He also had a bottle champagne sent to our room for free.  What a nice guy.  I wish I remembered his name.
We didn't bring our son, but the hotel looks like it caters well to kids as the property has avilable recreational games.
The spa service was just as great as the guy that checked us in.  The spa is a short walk from the hotel at the golf club house (less than 1 mile door to door).  The spa was very clean and relaxing.  The hotel has a complimentary shuttle to take you to the spa and other areas of the resort.
They also have complimentary bicycles for guests to use.  We took advantage of the bikes and rode around the property and on the racetrack next to the hotel.  Yes, a real racetrack.  If there are no races going on, people can take their cars, motorcycles, even bicycles on them.
I would definitely come back to the Westin

Had a wonderful stay at The Westin Savannah Harbor over Memorial Day weekend. This is a beautiful hotel right on the river. We were a little hesitant that we would have to take the ferry over to River Street, but it really was quite easy and took no time at all. It's free! The only downfall, they stop running a little before midnight, so cabs might be necessary for the end of the night.

The rooms were nice, big and very clean. Decorated in like a traditional Westin with the heavenly beds and contemporary furnishings. The lounge downstairs had a make your own bloody mary bar, and the other drinks were great there, but the food was just so-so for the price. They also have a nicer restaurant on the 2nd floor, the Aqua Star, but I did not eat there during my stay.

The concierge was super helpful. I asked her for dinner recommendations, and she made us a reservation at her favorite restaurant, and we were not disappointed.

The pool was lovely, and very resort-like. Nice, comfortable lounge chairs, and a few cabanas for rent. Poolside bar, waiters, a hot tub, along with music really added to this feel. Since this was a busy weekend, it was a bit difficult to get a chair if you weren't out there early.  There are also fire pits by the pool, and sitting out there at night with a cocktail was beautiful.

We saw 3 weddings taking place over the course of our stay, and this would really be a beautiful place to get married in the courtyard, overlooking the river and historic Savannah. Overall, the Westin greatly enhanced our stay in Savannah.

My girlfriends and I recently ventured to Savannah for a bachelorette party weekend. Aside from the pretty penny that a night in this hotel costs (let alone 4 nights), we loved everything about the Westin, especially the hotel bar, Midnight Sun Lounge Bar, where they serve up delicious dirty martinis. As far as the amenities, the hotel is situated on it's own private road in the heart of the historic Savannah River District. The rooms were spacious, the beds were comfy, and housekeeping very graciously dealt with all of the penis-themed decor we had strewn across the suite. If you stop by the lobby bar, say hello to our buddy Edgar.

I had a pretty disappointing time here. We incurred a $20 a DAY resort charge through Priceline that was not mentioned anywhere. This fee apparently covers complementary services, like the water ferry and coffee. Westin management and corporate gave us the runaround when discussing the mysterious fee for at least an hour.

The pool was disgusting. Get a tiny bit in your mouth and enjoy the delicious salt water and sewage flavor.

This Westin lives up the normal Westin standard.  The hotel is beautiful and is across the river from Savannah.  At first, I was annoyed, but it allows you to be close and keep the riff raff out.  You simply take the free ferry ride across.

The staff was amazing upon check-in, luggage service to housekeeping.  Lauren from South Africa was so friendly.  The concierge was extremely helpful.  Also, room service was really great.  We had the seafood pot pie and seafood special.  Pretty fast and fairly priced.

We would definitely recommend this place if staying in Savannah!

My only recomendation is that the valet parking be included in the resort fee.  I would gladly justify the resort fee for that.

I love Westin hotels but this location is 3 stars at best.  I wouldn't really call it a spa by southern standards.  We only stayed one night and passed on the 20 dollar extra resort fee that they tried to charge us.  The boat ride was pleasant and it looks like that they went a little on the cheap side with the renovations so that i may have lost some of its older charm.  It is a big place and when you check in you don't get much organized information about what the hotel has to offer.  For example we didn't even know there was a tennis court nearby.  I would love to come here again when things have improved.

From the beautiful Egyptian cotton sheets to the piña coladas next to the saltwater pool overlooking the Savannah River, everything about our stay was amazing. We booked on Hotels.com for a king room and got an incredible deal. This will be my first choice for future trips to Savannah. Only complaint: We couldn't try the room service because I just couldn't justify paying $18 for your basic bacon and eggs breakfast. Maybe next time.

This is a hotel with exceptional service! Friendly greeted the second we pulled up. Our room was even ready an hour and half early! Free parking with the simple swipe of your room key into the parking lot. There is a free ferry that takes you right into the heart of the historic district. This being my first time in Savannah it was the perfect location to be dropped off at, and so easily accessible.
The pool is amazing! Even on one of the sunniest days it wasn't overly crowded. There are servers who come around constantly serving from the bar that includes great good. Although, kind of pricey what do you expect from the hotel bar?
The hotel service is constantly at your beck and call AND with a smile on their face! I only wish the dinner recommendations by the concierge were better, not good food recommendations outside hotel dinning. Though, one of the front desk woman was so kind to assist she went above and beyond to help. I wish I could remember her name I know it was "Sh---a" (I know, not helpful). Overall it was a great hotel to stay in, reasonably priced thanks to Expedia, and right across the river from the downtown! Definitely will recommend this place and return to it next time I'm in Savannah!

When I stayed in Savannah, I wanted to stay somewhere nice. So I booked (at the time) the only 4Diamond property in the area.  I am also a Starwood member so I thought that would help with points too.
I ended up staying for 3 nights.  I brought my ford escape to be valet parked mind you.

The property is beautiful mind you, and the front desk was nice as well.
Then I got up to my room.  I wanted some coffee and low and behold there was mold and a used filter in the machine.  Couldn't use a cup because there was ash in one of them and lipstick all over the other one.
Not sure what had happened but I have never experienced that in even a low end hotel.

When I left, I handed the valet my card, and I wait about 10 minutes, only for a Cadillac to come up.  Would have been wonderful if only I drove a Cadillac!
Thankfully after another 10 minutes, I got my car back.

I know we all have bad days or whatnot, but this to me just seemed like one thing after another.  Unfortunately I have not given it a second chance.
I hope other people have had better experiences here because it is such a beautiful property and I am a huge fan of Starwood.

Very disappointed with the level of service here. We are very familiar with the Westin and its usually our  standby go to for a quality stay. This is our second night: NO turndown service, no replenishment of soap and lotion after first day, towel that was hanging over bathroom door - not picked up. No replenishment of coffee or tea in room. We had to call for more towels today, they didn't restock  us. Very disappointed.

Very nice hotel indeed.  It had the perfect location, right across the river from all the restaurants, bars and historical places to visit.  All we had to do was jump on their free ferry service and they will take us to Savannah.
The hotel room was impeccable.  Vary spacious and a great view of the entire Old Town Savannah.
The hotel's grounds are well manicured gardens that lead you to their pool.  We will definitely be back for a longer stay.

If your wondering if you should spend the extra money and stay across the river from Savannah, the answer is YES!!!!!!!!!! So pleased with our stay this past memorial day weekend.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Friendly staff. They have free fresh peaches, lemonade and bottled water in the lobby for arriving/departing guests. A small starbucks in the hotel. You can grab a coffee to go! The pool is beautiful. Jacuzzi is great. Chairs are nice. Hammocks and firepits around the property. Plenty of places to hang out outside night/day. Pool closes at 11 pm.

The room was really nice too. We had a river view with a balcony. I highly recommend it!!! Great view of Savannah's river street down below. Flat screen TV and coffee maker with starbucks and small fridge.

There is a free ferry that leaves every 20 minutes across the river to River Street this added to our vacation, it was a nice 5 min boat ride...we really liked it. It runs from 9 am to midnight!

FYI- it's $22/day to valet park at the hotel.

Went here with my wife after I dropped off my brother at GA southern because he was starting school there.
I found a good deal on hotels.com and got the room at $100 a night instead of $159
My wife treated me to the spa treatment there where I got massage, first facial and manicure. I fully enjoyed the spa treatment. Ferry runs all day from westin to river st all day. We ate and got drunk on river street after visiting couple of the bars there, but we didn't have to worry about driving anywhere or catching a cab back to the hotel because of the ferry ride back.
as for the room....it was up to expectations of any 4 star hotel..
loved the moon lounge at the lobby because we came back from river st on the ferry and decided we were not drunk enough and had more drinks at the bar.
We stumbled to our room but all in all, it was good stay for a one day getaway trip...  it was bitter sweet leaving but I would definitely stay here again.

I had a horrible experience at this Westin and will not be returning ever. 1. Items went missing from my suitcase. I alerted the hotel over the phone as I realized this once I was unpacking. I left multiple messages and NEVER got a response...just promises that the manager would get back to me. Never did. I finally contacted my Platinum Ambassador and Starwood directly. I finally then got a response from the property, but they basically said there was nothing they could do, and the person I left messages with no longer worked there. Totally unacceptable and they did NOTHING to help me or offer any solutions. The items that I believe we're stolen from my bag were very special to me, and they did not even acknowledge my concern. 2. I used Platinum Suite Nights to upgrade my room.  The 'upgrade' was terrible. It was a room attached to another room. Definitely a joke and certainly was not a Suite. 3. Staff at hotel seemed to care less my guest and I were even there. They were not friendly, not accommodating with our requests, and quite frankly rude. 4. The pool area is not nice. It was bug and insect infested and the water was an odd shade of green. I did not get in. I left with bug bites. Overall, extremely disappointed with The Westin Savannah and Starwood in General for this poor experience and lack of responsiveness. Ruined my vacation.

I was not impressed with this Westin. The hotel/resort itself is beautiful, but compared to the Westin standard I am used to in other large cities, the rooms were subpar. The decor was outdated, lumpy beds and extremely low ceilings. Also, despite being pretty high up I could still hear footsteps everywhere and could definitely hear the party in the next room.

Also, keep in the mind that the ferry stops running at midnight, so plan to take a cab if you are going to be out late.

We booked a last minute trip to Savannah and wanted to stay someplace nice. The Westin deemed to be the place, however it was disappointing. More than half of the rooms face downtown Savannah and the harbor yet the placed us in a lower level room overlooking the parking lot. We heard car engines throughout the night. Did I mention this place was NOT booked up and was actually pretty empty--according to the bellhops and bar tender. The bathroom had an unpleasant odor the second we entered the room. The air conditioning was only operating as a fan with the room never fully cooling off to be comfortable. Added to that, they offer workout gear to rent but when requesting a pair of sneakers, an hour later they called to say they didn't have them. The only positive experience were the pleasant and helpful bellhops, the bar tender and the pool. Otherwise, I would do further research into another place to stay upon a return.

Nice rooms, wonderful amenities, fantastic landscaping and you are isolated from Savannah on the island. If you need the convention center it is right beside the hotel.  There is also a racetrack on Hutchinson Island nearby the hotel

Downside: Riding the free ferries to the other side of the river is okay, but you lose time waiting for the ride each way, every time. Also Ferry stops running at 11:30 (bars stay open until 3, cab is $15-20 to get back).  It was also cold on our weekend -- too cold to be on the water.  Parking was limited - when the hotel was full; several cars were double-parked.

The workout room is not in the building- you have to take a shuttle bus to it. Odd. Guess it was really built for the golfers using the course. The course looked great - well maintained. Super nice driving range as well.  They do rent clubs and, oddly enough, New Balance workout gear.

Beautiful landscaping, a Starbucks inside and pretty good service made the hotel shine.

I was scheduled to go to Savannah for work and I was dreading it. I just felt like there would be nothing to do and it would just be hot. Boy was I wrong.

As for the hotel, this place is awesome. The rooms are clean and staff is amazing. Flat screen TVs and the pool and lounges are spectator. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because room service is only open until 11. Right across the river is shopping, bars and restaurants.

There are free ferry boats that take you across the water to River Street. It's so cool there. Tons to do and the city is beautiful. So much so that I would take a personal trip back here.

The Westin in Savannah is one of the best hotels in Savannah.  I should know; I grew up there.  It is probably the largest hotel in Savannah, and it is very luxurious.  Unlike every other hotel in the downtown area, the Westin has a vast courtyard and pool area.  The Westin is actually located in South Carolina (on the North side of the river).  All of the other hotels are located in Savannah (on the South Side of the river).  The best things about the Westin's location are the following:
    1. Lots of Room:  Since the Westin is located across from River Street and not on River Street, there is not much development.  That means that when the Westin was built, they had a vast amount of land to work with.  Therefore, unlike other hotels in the area, the space is not cramped.
    2. Great Views:  Since the hotel is located on the South Carolina side of the river, you have an extensive view of downtown Savannah.
    3. Peace and Quiet:  The Westin is not a "party" hotel.  The party occurs on River Street, so even if you are out on a Saturday night, you will not have partygoers hanging out around your hotel.  If you want to partake in the festivities, there is a free ferry that will take you to River Street and back to the hotel.  There are two downsides to this, though.  The last ferry runs before midnight, so you need to grab a taxi if you stay out late.  Also, the ferry comes every 20 minutes.  This is fine if the weather is nice.  Otherwise, it feels like forever.

I would certainly stay at this Westin again.  As with all Westin hotels, the rooms and beds are very clean and comfortable.

This hotel is situated on the Savannah River with views of the river and golf course. It is a high class hotel with plenty of nice amenities and a decent restaurant.

The lounge is a great place to enjoy cocktails or a glass of wine just adjacent to the pool.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, the heavenly beds, and the golf course is just a few minutes away.

It features a ferry ride accross the river (check hotel for times) and late check outs (4 PM) for preffered guests.

The bed is simply amazing and once you get into it you do not want to leave or get up. This beds comes with multiple pillows to suit your needs and comfort level.

Awesome place with one drawback-parking here is limited and you may need to park in the conference center. The experience here is wonderful from beginning to end.

    Enjoy.

My husband and I spent a very fun weekend at the Westin in Savannah. Good points: spacious room, great view of Savannah's River St., and a fun water taxi to take trips across the Harbour. The Westin also has a decent gym and spa within walking.

We went on a rainy weekend - which could have been terrible - but wasn't! It was still warm and clear enough Friday and part of Saturday to enjoy the hot tub and pool. The hotel has an oyster roast on Friday night with a bonfire and live music.

There is a Starbucks in the lobby bar, which is always a bonus for us.

I do not recommend staying in this hotel.  I stayed here for two nights after spending the four previous nights at the Andaz across the river.  I paid less at the Andaz during the week (but, also on Halloween night) than I did at The Westin over the weekend.  The Westin is across the river so you have the huge inconvenience of having the wait for the not-so-short ferry ride across the river.  While parking may be "free" at the Westin, you do have to pay a resort fee, which isn't cheap, and you don't really get much for it.  I wasn't there for the golf or the spa, so maybe if you are, it would make a difference.  However, while the rooms have been updated, they do still look dated, however, this place is fairly clean.  The employees were not nearly as friendly as those at the Andaz, and while the beds at the Andaz were so comfortable, the beds at The Westin were hard as a rock.  I got a kick out of the commercials that kept running on the TV for The Westin, which kept referencing the luxurious comfort of The Westin's beds.  Also, if you do have a dog with you, the dog fee is pricey (~$100). Overall, this hotel would not be my first choice for accommodations in Savannah.

Every day of our three night stay was so very good. This has to be the best place in Savannah to stay for location, view and pool. Only negative was the concierge so by pass him, always seemed to busy but no one was ever there and make your first stop the visitor center for information on where to walk and the free local bus. Can head on over to Savannah via the ferry boat, saw dolphins every day!

This hotel is just beautiful. It's set right on the river, with a clear view of River Street in downtown Savannah and the Talmadge Bridge from the front. A convenient ferry system visits the 3 major hotels-- the Westin, the Marriott, and the Hyatt, the latter two of which are located on River Street. The room was beautiful and the bed was to die for. The shower was great, and the toiletries are definitely steal-worthy :) The toilet had some issues, but I'm not sure if its due to it being an old toilet, or the water system on Hutchinson Island. There was a convenient drink cooler in the entertainment hutch and a nice big flat screen tv. The wi-fi was dependable.

The valets and luggage attendants were soooooo helpful and nice. We have no complaints about them whatsoever. The front desk staff seemed bored and like the last thing they wanted to do was help people. The bar staff in the Midnight Lounge seemed inexperienced and lacked personality (two female bartenders, both with different accents... Did not get their names). One standard drink (a blue Hawaiian) ended up being made with grapefruit juice instead of pineapple juice, and their "sweet tea" was tea sweetened with simple syrup. Ick. (That is not the bartender's fault, it's the bar's.)

They have complimentary rosemary-infused lemonade in the lobby which was delightfully refreshing. We did not use the pool, but it looked nice.

We would definitely stay here again, but we would love to see people more like the valets and baggage attendants in the front desk and bartending positions. Knowing how to do a job is one thing, but it's that extra bit of personality and caring about your customers that takes the whole experience a lot further.

One of the best hotels in all of Savannah... Having stayed all over Savannah, Georgia from the historic district and mid-town all the way out to Pooler and Port Wentworth I can tell you that you will get every penny of what you pay out of your visit at the Westin on Hutchinson Island. Inconspicuously opulent, this hotel and resort has everything you need for a Savannah get-away.

Featuring a spa and top-notch golfing this resort caters to everyone on-site and easily facilitates travel across the Savannah river to the historic district via free and convenient ferry shuttles that run every 15 minutes or so throughout the day and night.

The property is gorgeous and the rooms very well appointed. Bedding and linens are top notch, no skimping on quality or thread-count here. The rooms are over-sized and spacious offering either views across to the picturesque city or out to the golf-course and the low-country between Savannah and nearby Hilton Head Island.

Having stayed here during the holidays I can attest it to me a magical place decorated with perfection and attention to detail...the sort of place that really captures the holiday spirit and embodies it's hospitality well. Stay near the winter holidays and receive a complimentary ticket to the awesome light-show in Hutchinson Island.

Well reviewed, well enjoyed and most certainly recommended.

I was so excited when SO booked a night here during our fly by trip earlier this week. The hotel staff is amazing except for one person and I am kicking myself that I did not write down his name!
I had prearranged a surprise spa service for hubby and had to bump up our check-in time from 3 p.m. to 2 or 2:30 at the latest in order for us to check in and get settled in. The male staff was very flippant with me on the phone, explaining, well, if you get here and the room is ready you can have it. If not, then you'll have to wait. I was a little taken aback and called the next day and spoke to another person who assured me that everything would be ready for us.

I managed to sneak a call to the hotel when hubby was getting gas to confirm we would be ok to check in by 2:00. I spoke to Ashley (who is AMAZING!) and she said that not only was the room ready, but she confirmed the spa appointment too.
When we arrived, we learned that our room was a golf facing one, well, hubby wanted to be a diva and requested a room upgrade to river view, and then when we saw that our room didn't have a balcony, we upgraded again for an additional $100. We called and spoke to Ashley who took care of everything for us.

The bed was a bit lumpy (I prefer a firmer a bed), but after driving through the rain for hours, my body didn't care anymore!

SO said the spa service was amazing as well, and he even fell asleep! I took advantage of the balcony and treated myself to just relaxing in the warm sun and people watching on River Street.

We used the ferry (it's actually not free, there is a $19 resort fee that is applied to this) and visited (and got trashed) while bar hopping on River Street. The ferry does offer a real nice way to not even be tempted with drinking and driving.

I do agree with a previous post that the valet were less than helpful.

An okay hotel, but definitely not up to Westin standards. Arrived at 11 pm, front desk was abandoned, it took some minutes for someone to finally saunter over and get us to our room. Similar experience in the main restaurant. We asked for a slightly extended checkout time, were flatly turned down...only to be kept waiting again trying to check out at the front desk while the clerk failed to make eye contact.

Book through Priceline or similar, room rates are much cheaper than the hotel website. Reservations desk lied when asked about lower rates available online.

If i ever go back to savannah I will def stay at this place again.

the only thing I didnt like is that when i called to find out activities for each day the people at the front desk never knew anything but I just went downstairs and found out my self, that was the only little thing that bother me.

We booked this hotel through a fantastic deal available through Travelzoo, which made it incredibly affordable.  I have stayed in several Westin Hotels in the past, and this one mostly lives up to the name.  I truly enjoy the aroma they use throughout the Westin chain (white tea), but here, I didn't smell it very often, which was somewhat disappointing.  The hotel itself is about as modern as you can get in Savannah, as much of the town is either older hotels or Bed and Breakfast type places.  Staying on the other side of the water was no major inconvenience, the ferry boat system seemed to work right on time.  Large boats came through at early hours (4:00 AM) at times, so you have to be aware that it could be a bit noisy.

The rooms themselves seemed nice, the bed was comfortable (as most Westin beds are), and it had modern touches with a flat screen TV and Ipod/phone dock alarm clock, and dual shower heads.  The concierge there was more than helpful when we had questions, and the gingerbread display (we stayed during Christmas season) was really cool.

One odd part about this hotel is that the fitness facility is over by the golf course clubhouse, which is about a five minute walk outside.  Not so bad when it is warm out, but during winter, it was about 30 degrees, and I'm walking in shorts to the exercise room.  Turns out, you can borrow one of the bikes they have sitting outside and ride over.  That made things much easier, although still quite cold.

Overall, we had a good experience, and would definitely consider coming to stay again.

I could never live in Savannah, GA, because then I would have no excuse to come and stay here.  Everything about the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa is nice. The rooms were nice, the staff was nice, the hotel was nice, the amenities were nice.

    A few highlights:
-Free bike rentals to tour the area on your own.
-Gorgeous offsite gym, spa, golf, and tennis club - just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
-Free ferry to/from old town Savannah
    -Lovely pool
    -Great kids activities.

Speaking of kids' activities, we left our kiddos behind for the weekend, but I kind of regretted that because they catered so much to kids. For instance, they had a craft area by the pool. They also had a poolside hermit crab race in the evening. Our crab won a race, so we received a lovely $25 hotel gift card.

Overall, I think this place is lovely. Can't wait to return!

I was fortunate enough to win a free stay here, so I got a friend and we headed on down.  I will start with the only negative: you have to cross the bridge for everything.

Positives: the place itself is pretty, feels luxurious for the neighborhood, and gives you a great view of the area.  The service was super amazing, with all of the employees acknowledging you when you walk in, walk out, and return.  I do not want to linger on this point, but seriously, I was impressed with everyone's prompt service.  I stay at a lot of hotels, so the fact that it stands out to me says something.
I adore sleeping in the Heavenly beds, and thoroughly enjoyed standing on the balcony and watching the giant freight ships passing by on the river.  The place was clean, the room service was tasty, and downtown Savannah is beautiful.  I would happily go back!

This review is the for the golf course.
Went there for a get together during a wedding. We had 20 guys and it could not have gone any smoother.

You get access to the driving range which is inculded in your green fee.
They have an excellent putting and chipping area.

This course was designed by the great Sam Snead. It's a beautful course with not a lot of water but a fair amount of sand.

I def recommend taking the FREE water taxi over the river from the Westin; it takes about five minutes and they have a shuttle that will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the course just minutes away.

Overall, I would say this is a decent hotel so long as you don't expect the staff to go out of their way for you. The facilities and rooms are clean and nicely appointed. The location is a little removed from the city, which is a good thing if you're looking for a relaxing escape. All that Savannah has to offer is a quick ferry ride away.

We had a problem with our booking through Expedia, which I acknowledge was my fault. But because this hotel did not respond quickly to my request to fix it, we almost wound up without a place to stay for our first evening. After several calls to the hotel, Expedia, and Starwood, they eventually fixed our booking. Maybe I'm just spoiled by other nice hotels I've stayed at, but I don't expect to jump through that many hoops to fix a problem when paying this much.

If you call from inside they hotel with a question or request, they are very quick and friendly. Any time I called from my cell phone with a question, I was either unable to get an answer or I couldn't get through to someone who could help me.

As for the facilities, the pool was very nice. I know there are some complaints about the water on here, but it's a salt water pool, people! It's supposed to taste like sea water! The pool gets a little crowded on the weekend, but nothing more than expected. The bar staff seemed a little spread-thin. The grounds were clean and well maintained. There are multiple fire pits, which are great in the evening when it gets a little chilly.

We slept in the first morning and missed housekeeping, but they left a note for us to call whenever we were ready to have our room cleaned. The housekeeping staff does a great job. The front door staff was very friendly and always greeted us on the way in.

We didn't try the food. Why would you eat at the Westin when there are so many great restaurants in Savannah?

Just leaving the resort now.   Having just recovered from the attitude of the man that checked us in, the lady that checked us out obviously has it in for her boss and hates her job.     Just blah personality from the staff.

If you can deal with that, the rooms are terrific!   I'll stay elsewhere from now on though, just don't want to deal with ANY rudeness when PAYING for a vacation.

We are now wondering if because we went through a 3rd party, Priceline, and supposedly got a discounted price for our stay, we bought "discounted" attitude too.  It does seem that whenever we called for service or questions, everyone noted that we went through a 3rd party.

I recently had the pleasure of spending 3 nights at the Westin in Savannah. The room was well appointed, modern, and clean and checkin/check out was seamless. I was extended the "green" option of eschewing daily housekeeping and towel changes in exchange for 500 starwoods points per night which was lovely. The complimentary wifi was fast and reliable.

My girlfriend had a lovely exfoliating scrub at the heavenly spa, a wonderful experience which included complimentary mimosas. I also noticed the option of renting new balance workout clothes for my stay for only $5 which seems like a great way to cut down on packing if you intend to exercise.

The hotel also hosts a memorable jazz brunch on sundays which features an overwhelming array of hot, fresh, and delicious freshly prepared options from a highly renowned local chef.

The hotel PR manager, David Moses seems to have made it his personal mission to ensure my stay in not only the Westin, but the city of Savannah, a delight. He had invited me to the hotel a few months prior and even personally drove me to and from the airport and arranged to have chocolate covered strawberries and champagne delivered to my room.

I highly recommend staying at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa to anyone looking to visit the area.

No complaints and a definite recommendation for anyone visiting Savannah.

First things first, you are actually across the river and not actually in downtown Savannah which has it's good points as well as some drawbacks. The great thing is that you get a pretty view of the river with all the boats coming in and out, and when it is time to go back to the hotel for the night, you are out of the hustle and bustle and get more of that "resort" feel and the relaxation that comes with it. The hotel offers a free ferry service to get you across the river and into downtown, and the ferry runs very regularly. The only drawback is that it stops running before midnight, so I guess I revoke my statement about having no complaints, because it did impose somewhat of a damper having to be on a curfew or pay for a taxi ride across the bridge if you miss the last boat. However, there isn't too much to be said about Savannah's nightlife, so turning in early isn't going to deprive you of the bitchin party scene going on or anything. In fact, during the two nights I stayed at this hotel, I was back early enough to end the night with a dip in the hot tub... and it was glorious.

During the day, the pool area is definitely family friendly, but they also have a nice pool side bar and enough lounge chairs that you can escape from the pool- noodle fights and viscous splashing going on in the pool. They also have cabanas you can rent which is just ridiculous, but hey, go for it if you like to waste your money.

I also really enjoyed the small touches offered at this Westin. Like most things in life, it's the little things that count, and the rosemary lemonade in the lobby during the day was delightful, and the lighted makeup-mirror in the room was super! Onsite Starbucks was great too. They have a little sewing kit in the bathroom along with mouthwash and plenty of lotions and etc., and with all the cuts that I've been seeing in the hotel biz where you are lucky nowadays to get a bar of soap, these extras are definitely appreciated.  The beds were really comfy and the room was very clean and not sketchy in the slightest. So two thumbs up there.

We had the breakfast buffet one of the mornings and it was a pretty good deal for what they offered. I believe it was $20 give or take a few bucks and they had an omelet station, pancake station, fruit and yogurt, bagels and other yummy breakfast carbs, breakfast meats, oatmeal, and southern favorites. I tried biscuits and gravy as well as cheese grits for the first time in my life and was please with it. My two friends I was with, one from Alabama and the other from Mississippi, were both less impressed at the authenticity of the southern fare offered, but agreed it was still tasty.

Also note that the Westin will hold your luggage for you if you get there before your room is ready or checkout before it's time to leave, so that's also nice. $20 bucks a day to park your car which falls under the "resort fee."

Westin's location on the water was beautiful, with a path along the water, and right next to the dock where the free ferry can take you across the river.  It's obviously a bit further away than being right on or near River St, but you can sense the peacefulness of the location....it was nice to be a bit removed from the hubbub.  Parking is either valet or self-park in a lot off to the right of the hotel, accessed with your room key.  I was here when the hotel was decorated for Christmas, so it was lovely and festive, with the lobby full of gingerbread houses and sculptures to ogle.

Room- I booked a standard king with a golf course view, but I was lucky enough to get a corner room, so I had an additional window facing east, so I also had a river view, and a sunrise view, which was GORGEOUS...I couldn't stop taking photos.

Excellent view of the river and downtown across the river. Super friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Nice pool area for swimming or just sitting around. The whole resort area was beautiful. Being right next to the conference center was a super plus, and the free ferry that constantly runs to the river walk is great! It was really nice to have that as an option to save gas and parking for the car. Only tried the pool and rooms, didn't try any of the other amenities. (August)

My husband and I went to Savannah and stayed at the Westin for our 1 year wedding anniversary.  I did a LOT of research and I'm SO glad we chose this hotel.  When we arrived, they had upgraded up because it was our anniversary and had champagne and strawberries in our room.  Totally unexpected!  The room was great and the harbor view was perfect!  Most of Savannah's hotels are on the river front, but this hotel faces it, which makes you able to view the riverfront.  The pool was a great place to hang out during the day when it was hot and the bar by the pool is a great feature.  One day we ordered lunch out there and it took a little while, so the bartender gave us free drinks!  Little things like that keep me coming back!

The continental breakfast was pretty pricey for being a continental breakfast, but that was to be expected.

    GREAT hotel for visiting Savannah!!

I am a LONG way from five stars for this place, despite its 5-diamond rating from AAA. Facilities  are beautiful and room was most comfortable.  Those earn five stars.  Had breakfast there once, which was MORE than enough for me -- but my wife likes to brush her teeth AFTER breakfast and there was NOWHERE else to eat nearby (had to take the ferry to the mainland for options), so we did it again.  Restaurant gets 2 stars for breakfast -- mediocre food not presented well, less than mediocre service when it was not busy and appeared to be adequately staffed.  Maybe we should not have asked for table service -- but the $23 buffet offends me in principle as well as pocket-book.
The final blow was back at the hotel.  My wife was traveling with jewelry.  We wanted to spend the day across the river in Savannah, so we asked to use a lock box.  The young woman who set it up was VERY nice and walked us through a complex process involving ID and other information -- just what it should have been.  The next day my wife went back to get her jewelry and there was NO process -- just the key -- no ID, no signature, nothing.  Fortunately everything was there -- but it was clear that any plausible-acting person who found the key could have cleaned out the box.
It did give me an idea for a mystery story.  The block of boxes into which my wife's jewelry went appeared not to be anchored to anything -- just a box of a dozen or so boxes resting on a cabinet -- easy to steal and not much security.
Advice:  stay at one of the chain hotels across the river in the historic area or, perhaps better, in a B&B.  This place actually looks like it is waiting to get a license for a casino boat to float in the pond next to it -- I may be wrong, but it has that character about it.

I was so excited to stay at this hotel for a recent conference. I mean, look at the photos... it really looks like that! No promo witchcraft going on in these photos. It is just as luxurious as it appears.

The hotel is gorgeous, the views are wonderful- your pick: river view (YES!), or golf course. I was lucky enough to score a river view and felt like a little kid with my nose pressed against the window of my room, each and every time a cargo ship would go by. These things are huge! How do they fit into the Savannah river?? I digress...

My room was immaculate. Everything was spot on. I love that the Starwood line of hotels offers $5.00 vouchers for each day that you decline housekeeping. Since I have another Starwood hotel trip coming up, I went with this option. It wasn't a bad idea since my bathroom was well stocked with towels and toiletries. The only complaint I had was that when I arrived, my shampoo bottle was halfway empty. Seriously? So, basically, the hotel did not replace my shampoo. Lucky that I come prepared with my own shampoo and conditioner. Deduction of star for this.

I ordered room service twice, and it was oh so tasty, but of course, overpriced. The hallways were quiet, room temp was to my liking and with an exact temperature adjustable thermostat (which was also quiet, by the way).

The hotel has two bar areas, one on the mainfloor in the dining area, and one on the second floor that is devoted to bar only. Both bars were well stocked and had most any drink you could want. In the morning hours, there is a Starbuck's counter in the dining area foyer.

Do yourself a favor and venture out onto the courtyard/dock area. It is a gorgeous view of the river while taking in the fresh air from a well-manicured, grassy courtyard area.

Even though the Westin is across the river from downtown, there is a free passenger ferry that will take you on a 5-7 minute ride to the downtown side. There is also a spa that has every service imaginable, and of course, it is a golfer's dream. Staying at The Westin is truly how to do a trip to Savannah!

Nice hotel!!! The rooms are clean, and the view my family got was perfect. We were looking at the over view look of the river and the pool. The pool & the hot tub were purely fantastic.we went during Easter and had little activities for the children all day long. (Easter breakfast, pictures with the bunny, egg hunt, etc.)
The hotel was very fancy and cool looking. If you a river view, be sure to look at the big barges. They are HUGE. My children loved to look at these and would always get me to look at it.

Amazing place! So cool to take the ferry across to the Historic district. The ferry is free and operates pretty frequently. Waiting is fun too - lots to gaze upon. This hotel has bikes to ride in the front entrance - for free! A cute game room inside one of those semi-permanent tents. The pool is heated (wish I brought my suit).  Has a fire pit for smores but it wasn't going the nights we were there... probably too cold.

Beds super comfy - Heavenly as stated on website. Good insulation between walls if you know what I mean :)

Two negative things: No Bibles in Hotel rooms! This is the South... maybe in CA but here???? and, I called down to the front desk for a couple of things a couple of times before I got a response.  I wanted step stool for my son who is potty training... weird request right? BUT it was suggested in their Hotel guide book... so I took them up on the offer... kind of... cuz they didn't have one! LOL... whatever - not a break it kind of deal...

I was registered at this hotel for a conference. I would describe the facility as adequate. Not lacking. Seriously in any particular ways just nothing special either. It would not be a place I would recommend for future events. There ar too many special places available.

I'm also not a big fan of Resort Fees. Especially when I don't see any specific value - I have to pay for Internet services and the fitness center is not in the building.

However, the reason for my low rating is one specific thing. What I Perceived to be a lack of customer service. On my last day there I requested a delayed check out of one hour. I was told that none were being honored because they had a busy weekend coming. Today is Wednesday!  I asked to speak to the general manager on duty and was give the office manager who was professional but said no. She said what else can is do to please you and I said let me stay in my room one extra hour. No go!  Really ! I'm a SPG member to boot ( their frequent stay club). Anyway So much for Westin's.

This story is definitely added to the list of lousy customer service.

My boyfriend and I recently enjoyed a BEAUTIFUL stay at the Westin Savannah Resort & Spa.  As we traveled to Savannah at an off-peak time we were able to stay at this gorgeous hotel for a GREAT rate. This resort is located across the River all the downtown Savannah action which some might see as a hindrance, but we found it perfect! There is a free ferry shuttle that takes you across the river. It runs multiple times an hour until midnight. This allows you to not have to pay for parking and avoids any driving while drinking.  Savannah allows for open containers on the street, which to some might seem great however we enjoyed getting away from this and getting to the calming and peaceful resort.

There were a few hiccups: our smoke detector went off EVERY time one of us took a shower. And on the first day we were there, our room was not cleaned until almost 5pm. At that time we wished to be back in our room getting ready for our dinner that night. Those were our only negatives.

All in all, we would definitely return on an off peak time for some rest and relaxation.

Thanks for a great experience Westin!

Were this a tourist hotel, it would be fine, perhaps even recommended. Alas, it is attached the Savannah's conference center, and a conference hotel it is not.

But first let me start with the good. The beds were luxuriant, if a bit soft, and included a variety of pillows. The most thoughtful was a long, narrow pillow that I seemed to wake up hugging like a teddy bear every morning. The staff were polite and, outside of the abysmal restaurants, generally attentive. (I reviewed the restaurants separately). The fitness center was really great, and had among the best wet and dry saunas I've encountered.

So what's the problem? It starts with the location .The hotel is attractively situated on the Savannah river, overlooking the city. Another way to say that: the hotel is cut off from the city by water. And the only way to get to the city without a car is via a charming, but infrequently run ferry. By car, you must approach and cross a giant bridge. As a result, it is impossible to go anywhere for food and coffee but the hotel's restaurants.

Those restaurants are three: a "Starbucks" (not really), a "lounge" with take-out option, and an "upscale" option on the second floor. In addition to being very bad and very expensive, the two take-away options are extremely slow. If you actually want to go to your session, you're just not going to eat.

My only solution was to go to town and buy take-out the night before, when I had better things to be doing. And I was forced to eat that food cold, because the rooms don't have microwaves.

To add injury to these insults, the hotel wifi was abysmal, greatly limiting my capacity to work during the conference. I simply gave up on accessing the Internet during peak times. I was also mistakenly charged seven times for Internet access, although these charges were removed.

Three stars because the stay was so comfortable. For business travel, though, I just can't recommend this hotel. What's more, I might think twice about attending another conference in Savannah.

We stayed here for two nights the first weekend in March, thanks to a last minute bid since we had to attend a funeral.  Having never been to Savannah before, we had no idea what to expect, and at first were not overly happy about finding ourselves across the river from the historic area.  After arriving, however, we were immediately enthralled.

Driving up to this resort is very impressive and surprisingly just 12 miles off of I-95.  Check-in was a short wait (lots of people with well-behaved dogs in the lobby...must be a very dog-friendly hotel).  No king rooms were available, so we trotted off to our double bed room and found it to be nice.  Note to previous reviewers who didn't notice the fridge in the room.  We had one (see pic)...which is where his and hers bottles landed (bourbon for him, wine for her).

They give you a brochure with the ferry schedule when you check in, which makes it so easy (and quick) to catch the "free" ferry.  (Okay, so you pay $22.47 per day for a resort charge...we've had to do resort charges before where a ferry wasn't included, just sayin') AND it covers parking & internet. Internet which worked for Husband but not for me. Feel pretty confident it was operator error as a result.

The ferry was way better than expected.  Covered.  Big.  Quick and efficient. And since they give you a schedule of when and where it will be, if you spend a lot of time waiting for it, it's because you didn't plan accordingly.  We DID and it was GREAT!

When we came back to the hotel after dinner in the historic area on that Friday night we were greeted with FIREWORKS.  How awesome is that?  And apparently a first Friday thing.  The hotel was also doing an oyster roast party with a live band. The only minor disappointment to our Friday night was that the Bourbon & Chocolate Lounge that we had looked forward to trying was PACKED.  No room for us to sidle in and try it.

Lesson finally learned after several recent hotels with more than one bed in them.  The bed closest to the bathroom SUCKS.  Use the other bed.  This lesson finally sunk into our teeny tiny pea brains on this trip (but only after an extremely uncomfortable first night).  Second night, switched beds, much better.

Also had a pleasant breakfast in Aqua (see that review).  And I posted a review of the Bourbon & Chocolate Bar that we spent a few (cough) bucks in on Saturday night.

Overall, we loved this resort.  It's beautiful, friendly, and the location is perfect for getting in and out of town without having to mess with city streets.

After spending 4 nights at the Embassy Suites in Orlando, we wanted to slow things down and get Mickey and friends out of our minds by staying at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa.  We stayed at Westin Hotels in the past.  We knew what the Westin could offer from our previous stays.

We stayed for 2 nights on Father's Day weekend.  We arrived on a Saturday at about 4 PM.  The hotel seemed busy with check ins and also preparations for a wedding.  It took them three tries to get our room correct.  The first time, the put me in a room next to an elevator  With elevators making strange noises at night, I always have difficulty sleeping.  So, I asked for a different room.  The second room was okay, but, the ghosts of Savannah put a shower cap in the toilet.  When my wife saw it, she freaked out and requested a room that was clean.  The third time was a charm.  They gave us a room, exactly as requested.

The room was nice with 2 queen beds.  It had a nice view of the Savannah River.  Everything in the room was perfectly clean, just like what the wife likes.  The only thing thing about the room that my wife didn't like was the televion station choices.  She did not get to watch her favorite TV station, HGTV.  She didn't get to dream of what to do next for our house.

The Westin is full of activities, after all, they are a Golf resort.  If you don't golf, they do have a swimming pool with lap swimming hours in the morning.  Unfortunately, I was on vacation, and had no intentions of using their pool.  The landing for the Ferry is right out the back door.  The Ferry is free and will take you across the river to River Street.  Unlike other Westin Hotels, they do not have a Kid's Club at this Westin.  Last year, my daughter was able to go on a Scavenger Hunt at the Westin Kierland.  We visited the Hitlon Head Westin.  They did offer a Kid's Club.

About the only complaint that my wife had was the staff was not friendly enough.  They did their job, and that was it.  They didn't really say "Hi", when you pass by them.

Overall, it is a decent Westin property with nice clean quite room, unless it next to an elevator, or if a ghost throws a shower cap in the toilet.  It was a lot nicer than the Emabssy Suites in Orlando.  Overall, 3 1/2 stars, which isn't bad.  But, I have experienced better Westin properties.

This hotel is lovely. The shower is so nice with the rain feature and you can switch to a hand held spray. Lighting in the bathroom is soft and nice. Beds are heavenly! I like the bath robes they provide. Also! You can leave your gym/running clothes at home. You may rent work out attire here for $5/day including shoes! They will deliver this to your room. The hotel lobby is stunning with beautiful water views. We attended a wedding which was spectacular! Dinner and dancing in the Grand Ballroom was perfect. The food was amazing. The service was excellent. The hotel provides a free ferry service to other parts of Savannah. The grounds are perfect, you can walk along the river front, play golf, hang out at the pool. So much to do here! I highly recommend this property.

This is a very nice hotel.  I bid it on Priceless for $99 and got it on the first try.  Get a king bed with the view of the Golf course.  Regular rate would have been $259.   Parking is free if your a guest but has a free first 45 minute parking for visitors.  Valet is $23 overnight.  The lobby has a very nice decor and the staff is friendly.

Okay. First of all I have to say that both times I've been to Savannah I have stayed at this establishment and I still think it's one of the best. They have wonderful views of the river plus a ferry boat that takes you across to River Street and leaves quite often. Might I add that the ferry allows dogs on it which is a MAJOR plus for me and brownie points in the book of Jo.

The hotel itself I think is quite beautiful, but frankly, not enough to pay $300 a night during peak season. They have a very quaint little bar on the lobby floor that I LOVE. Very old school and what a lobby bar should be like (even if the drinks are $13 a pop). The rooms are just okay. Nothing to write home about but spacious and clean, which is just fine for me as I'm not super picky. If you get lucky you get a nice view of the grounds and golf course, which are quite nice. Lots of greenery all around which is great if you have a pet (pets are allowed as long as they're small and you can shell out the $100 pet deposit).

The reason why I am giving this place three stars and not the four it deserves, is because of the blatant lack of customer service. I hate to say it, but I've been greeted by nicer people at a Days Inn while on the road for a night or two. I called various times in advance to say I was bringing a dog and if there was anything (other than the fee) I needed to know in advance. I was told I did not need anything (not even rabies shots records which I found weird) because I would have to sign a waiver. Upon signing said waiver, I was informed that the dog could not be left unattended at all.

EXCUSE ME? "We would not want for the dog to start barking and disturb other guests," was the attendant's reply. And I can appreciate that, trust me, I can. But it's pretty evident this is something I should've been informed of AHEAD OF TIME. For $100 a night I could've boarded my dog at the Ritz Carlton and my boyfriend and I could've had a chance to enjoy the city. There went our dinner plans or anything else we had in mind (it was my birthday, by the way). We tried to find places to board him but of  course on such short notice it was impossible.

We snuck out for about an hour for a quick bite and a drink at the bar. I will also confess with no shame whatsoever that we left for breakfast the next morning for a whopping 40 minutes at the hotel's restaurant and left our dog in the bathroom sleeping on his bed. The food was subpar and the service HORRIFIC. I must've shouted at the waitress to please bring us our bill a couple of times after ineffectively trying to flag her down and still she did not come to our table. I can only assume the lady was deaf, in which case, I'm sorry about that. I am still wondering why on earth I left her a 20% tip. Upon leaving, the lady at the front desk looked like she'd rather be at the dentist than say good morning to me, and replied with a faint grunt when I picked up my hotel folio and wished her happy holidays.
All in all, we made the best of it, but I think it's only right that a patron should be informed of the rules before going through the trouble of bringing their pet to an unknown place. To me, it simply felt like they wanted to get the $100 non-refundable deposit and could care less what I did with my dog after that, seeing they were not liable once I signed the waiver.

I still think this is a beautiful hotel, and no doubt I still would consider coming back, but I have to be honest that I was not pleased whatsoever with this last stay. Also, we spent a good $150 on room service seeing we were bound to our room with our dog on our mini vacation before Christmas. Catastrophic, to say the least.

Well, to start I have stayed at several Westins and have my favorites so there was a standard that Westin Savannah had to meet.  Our day started with a smooth checkin and view of our room and balcony.   Pretty happy with our room and view. Our most anticipated activity was a day at the spa.... Bellevue, Washington is by far the best out of the Westins I've visited. First, the spa is off the hotel grounds in the golf clubhouse which we had to walk to and even though they provide shuttle service no one offered to take us over.  Second, not updated and felt like I was in a school locker room.  I guess the Bellevue Westin is going to be hard to surpass. Once our services were finished we asked for a pick up since well, we were feeling "heavenly"  but after about 15 minutes of waiting we decided to walk back to our room.  Not impressed at all with the Heavenly Spa at Westin Savannah.
The hotel and room were very clean and felt up to par for anyone's standards. A tad inconvenient to take the water taxi but it was a fun added entertainment. Totally stinks when there is a monsoon outside.  We had a nice dinner in town and called the hotel for advice on transportation back to the hotel but was told "I used to work at so and so just ask the hostess".  Ummm no as customer service is concerned the front desk only likes to help with checkin and checkout.
It was just a normal hotel and for the price I would rather stay in town.
