We usually try to stay at Embassy suites whenever we can, We came into Louisville late and stop at another hotel, they were full, but, said Embassy Suites might have a room, we couldn't ever find Embassy suites in autoclub book or yellow pages.  Nice hotel, but we stayed at embassy suites Lexington the night before and it was far superior....
DO NOT eat at the restaurant across the highway, I think it was called Limestone.....Terrible

The only reason this hotel received four stars it is isn't the most glamorous modern hotel out there, but for the price it was very nice, clean, and had great service. We came for the Kentucky Derby and it was such a great experience. The staff were all extremely friendly and excited for everyone going to the derby. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Also, we were celebrating my birthday and they surprised me with Champagne on ice with chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in our room.

Excellent hotel, however, I downgraded it one star because the HVAC unit is antiquated (no temperature control) and the toilet had trouble working correctly.  However, the complimentary reception and breakfast were good. The rooms (and public spaces) were clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and overall it is in a nice neighborhood.

The staff is friendly, has what you expect from a Hilton location. The rooms are dated and could be refreshed a bit.

The best hospitality of all the hotels I've stayed at in the last 10 years.

I was very impressed with how the staff operates.  Front desk staff is very professional and the wait staff is the reason I ALWAYS come back to this place.  This location is a further drive for me, but well worth it.

The atrium set up can make it a little noisy if you're directly above the bar area, but quiet in the bedroom if the door is closed.

      Nice setting. Staff is friendly.

This hotel can't seem to honor their reservations. Had a reservation booked per our usual through the Hilton website. Was placed in a smoking room, then told "those are your preferences online." O rly? We are Hilton Diamond members, stay over 30 times a year and have NEVER stayed in a smoking room, nor have our preferences EVER reflected that we want a smoking room. But according to the staff all of a sudden we're smokers after 12 years. I checked the website and, as stated, we do not prefer smoking rooms in our preferences. They were unable and unwilling to make it right by finding another room in their hotel or in another Hilton property.  We also called the Hhonors line and the rep also noted that we did not have "smoking rooms" checked as a preference. If you're gonna overbook you could at least not lie and claim that it is our fault that you only have smoking rooms left. We walked out and went across the street. In the future try not to lie to your customers.

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to family I was visiting, and it proved to be an excellent choice. Check-in was quick, and I was able to get into my room immediately even though I was a bit early. The room was clean, comfortable and absolutely enormous. Bigger than my first apartment!  The suite style is an excellent setup for parents traveling with small children.  Any parent who has been stuck in a hotel room at their child's bedtime, unable to turn on the tv out of fear of waking them up will know what I am talking about!  Guest Services was truly wonderful. Though I am normally very organized, I forgot to pack a razor.  They sent one up within 5 minutes of my calling. The included breakfast is just what a hungry traveler needs- a FULL yummy breakfast cooked to order by some wonderful chefs who showed this Jersey girl some true Southern hospitality.  Thank you, Embassy Suites for a wonderful stay.

This hotel is lovely.  Lovely rooms, lovely ambiance and all around it smells clean and fresh.  This is a must for a hotel.  I would have given it five stars but it was too crowded at breakfast on a Sunday morning.  I think they need to add more tables and chairs to their breakfast area.  We did come when people were having a family reunion and maybe that could have been the reason.  Other than that it was a pleasant experience.

WARNING! THis hotel stole our money.

We booked this hotell for the ABCKids Expo. When we had to cancel the expo due to illness, we called the hotell (we have the phone bill to prove the call) and was told the cancellation was ok and our money would be refunded.
However, we never got our money back. We have repeatedly tried to get the hotell to honor their promises but they refuse. They are lying and saying the call didn't take place. Basically they stole our money (and since it was expo time of course someone else stayed in the room basically giving the hotel double payment)

We are Hilton Honors Diamond members. We have been loyal to Hilton for 10+ years and they not only take our money, but lie to us.

Do not book this hotell because they will do anything to take your money and they do not hesitate lying.

Shame on this hotel and the the manger for stealing from hardworking people. Shame on the Hilton brand for being crooks and treating loyal customers like garbage.

We have stayed here 3 times and I am now ready to write a review. This hotel is the ultimate in southern hospitality.
The employees are cordial and attentive. This is the cleanest hotel I have stayed in anywhere in the south.
The only thing with this hotel is it's ALWAYS full so make your reservations ahead. You can't walk in and get a room. Some things are worth planning ahead, and this hoteli is one of them.
Oh yes, free breakfast and happy hour too!

While on business in Louisville, I stayed here for a couple of nights.  The hotel is a typical Embassy Suites, including the signature layout.  Rooms were clean and were modern.  I took advantage of the complimentary Happy Hour which included free drinks and finger foods.  The lobby and lounge are quite nice as well with modern furnishings.  The complimentary made to order breakfast was great as well.

Quite possibly the very worst Hilton property I have ever had stayed at in the last 25 years!

Front desk staff is incompetent.  Junior managers are not empowered to satisfy the customers.  Senior managers are absent on the weekends.  General Manager absolutely lacks customer-focus and has a "fine...we don't want customers like you" approach to troubleshooting problems with his staff.

Their response to my first problem caused my second and third problems and the whole experience just spiraled downwards.  Thanks to these people I was late to a business meeting and had to shave in the car on the way there.  Not exactly the experience I expected when I made the reservation at my favorite brand of hotel.

I had enough problems with this property that I will NEVER stay there again when I am in town on business.  It is worth noting that I stayed in 3 different Embassy Suites hotels within the 10-day period I stayed here (Chicago - Louisville - Nashville) and this place just doesn't measure up.

Of note (and the reason they received even a single star) is the omelet guys - very friendly and banging out great food.  Other than those two...this place represents a complete waste of money!  Do yourself a favor and sleep in your car or on a park bench instead of making a reservation at this property.

Super solid two-room suite hotel. Fresh hot breakfast selection in the morning was well stocked and varied. A non-dairy milk option would have been nice however... The room and bathroom were very clean and the Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries smelled great. Bed was on the softer side, down pillows. There were huge flat screen TV's in both the bedroom and separate sitting area. Used the laundry facilities and they were reasonably priced at just a dollar per load. Only complaints were the noise on friday and saturday nights. The atrium layout amplified the sound coming from the pool, ballroom and bar areas and we could hear it all the way in the back bedroom. Probably would not have stayed at this hotel if we hadn't received the military discount, but at around $100 a night with, it was a good deal for the quality.

this review is long over due.  My crew and I have stayed here 3 times now. Everyone on the staff is great from the front desk, to the bar, and the morning breakfast staff.
Theresa, Trent, Danielle, Nick, Monty to name just a few. And especially Diana who works the morning breakfast shift along with the two lovely female Chefs.  Oh yes and the rooms are comfortable and clean.  Thank you Embassy Suites for your welcoming hospitality. Mary Donaldson - LA, CA

Exceptionally clean and hospitable. By far our best hotel experience since our two year old was born. Breakfast was good and had to a of options.  Cocktail hour was low key and refreshing.  Lobby was welcoming and room was large, clean, comfortable and had a convenient layout.  Price was good, too! Makes me want to seek out more Embassy Suites!

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS WOW!

Okay, I'll say a little more...It is a great hotel - especially for the price. The value is amazing and the location is great. It's a super safe and fancy area.  We were greeted with free snacks and cocktails in the evening, when we checked in. They also have a free cooked to order breakfast.

The room - or actually a 2 room suite - was comfortable, clean, quiet and had everything we needed. The wi-fi was fast and the little kitchenette was nice, so we could have a "home cooked" meal. We are on month 2 of an almost 4 month national comedy tour, so we really look for places that are a stand in for "home". That is not always accomplished but IT WAS HERE. It really did feel like home, only a fancier and more modern home than ours :-)

In town for a music fest, and staying 3 nights, we were out for a fun, safe, weekend with a few perks. This Embassy Suites (EB) did a fine job with the pre-prep. I coordinated with Clay Cadarette, the Front Office manager to ensure my friend, who arrived before I did, would have a smooth check in. (Great job, Clay!) He e-mailed me the paperwork and I got it right back to him with his stamp of approval. Super nice touch! Very responsive!

Staff were **all** smiles and Southern charm. I mean everyone! Not one grump in the group.

The room was clean! Nice-sized fridge; bar sink; microwave; those weird two pouch coffee pots, good supply of toiletries,  and comfy beds. The bedroom even had a nice vanity area. I'm not sure I've see one before in an EB (and this trip just put me in Silver Elite status - woot!)

Hotel is located as they advertise, ~ 15 minutes from downtown. It is an ~ $36.00 cab ride from hotel to Champion's Park, one way.

Friend called because she thought there was an issue with the toilet. Maintenance was lightening-fast and looked right into it. (There wasn't really an issue anyway, but the keys are "lightning fast" and "friendly")

The reasons this EB doesn't get 5 starts are the following:
**no on site shuttle (I thought their web site said they had one, but when I rechecked it did not, so no issue there), it's just odd to me that an EB anywhere doesn't have a shuttle.

**No *real* room service. The Atrium restaurant (inside the EB) had a decent standard breakfast with ample food out for all the traveling families, (cheerleaders, student atheletes, etc) but rolls up their service at 11 to reopen AFTER the complimentary b'fast buffet at, I think, 11:30 AM. That leaves a serious food/bev gap if you are a group of metal heads attending a music festival and wanting to relax in your room with some chub grub following a late night show. So, step it up Atrium, don't advertise all those delicious eats and drinks and cut us off at 11PM for 12.5 hours!  [To their credit, the sweet folks at the front desk turned us on to a restaurant that delivered until 4 AM - SCORE! So, that kept the munchies at bay, as we used them two times).

**After hanging out at the festival and dodging crowd surfers all day, a body needs some R&R, so we couldn't WAIT to hit the hot tub. Again, closes at 11 PM. No ifs, ands, or buts. Night one, we missed it and night 2 we were able to squeeze in under the finish line for ~ 20 minutes of hot tub goodness. It was a clean hot tub, stocked with two types of towels, one is super plush and large and the other more like a hair towel, but big enough. On our checkout day, Monday when we hoped for one last hot tub before hitting the road, we are greeted with a "Hot tub is out of service, sorry for any inconvenience" sign. Again, not a big deal, just a little bit of a let down.

**disappointing coffee maker. This is my personal pet peeve, so I can't really blame them. Friend called this EB and was told that the in room coffee pots *were* Keurig. That's all we brought w/ us were Keurig pods. If I had known that actually, no, they do not have Keurig, I would have brought my own, or my 4-cup. On day 3, the "just outside of the buffet area" giant coffee pot was empty. So, we doubled up the little padded coffee thingys that go in the drippy thingy into the paper cup and made do.

The in room phones are wireless, so if you program in your wakeup call make sure the phone is on the hook. Ours wasn't which nearly mucked up our departure time. So, keep the phones charged and on the hook or the auto-wakeups do NOT work. Bring a little alarm clock.

Across the street is a McAllister's deli and there are shops and restaurants super close by (within 2 miles was a nice looking outdoor mall).

If you are looking for a full service EB; complete with something like a Ruth's Chris delivering all night right to your room, and an in-house spa, with a shuttle van that will take you anywhere within a reasonable radius (25 miles) look elsewhere. If you are looking for a solid EB, with friendly folks and super-great management (Clay) who do want to meet and exceed your expectations, in a safe, comfortable, lovely suburban setting close to shops and eats, stay here. When in the area, I'll be back, but I'll bring my Keuri

Stopped here for non business and had a pleasant experience.  The rooms were clean and modern and the workout area was adequate for me to set up my bike and trainer which was great.  One of the highlights of this place is the made to order breakfast and the word is out on this group.  So if you want a good shot shorter lines and getting everything you want get up early!  They experience quite a rush and they do get cleaned out of some of their items, especially if it's toward the end.  Certainly worth another stay next time i'm in the area.

This review is so belated! My S.O. and I stayed at the Embassy Suites-Louisville about four times between December 2014 and February 2015, and our travel backgrounds vary but our experience at this hotel was something we definitely agreed on: they kept us coming back and we always had a great stay.

Our longest duration here was an 8-day stay, and we enjoyed the most obvious perks of the Embassy Suites: the free cook-to-order breakfast every morning, and the Manager's Happy Hour (which is every night between 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.). Our rooms were always clean, and despite what I've read on other reviews, we never heard anything from the atrium -- even on New Year's Eve.

Here's what we learned (i.e. a few tips & tricks):

      * The hotel gets busy with kids from Thursdays through the weekend, probably because it's in the popular East End and is an incredible value (the breakfast/bar amenities mentioned above, plus we saw they had a pool, which kiddos probably enjoy).

      * The gym has two treadmills and two ellipticals, plus a selection of free weights. It gets busy around 6:00 a.m. Guests here get free access to the Louisville Athletic Club, which might be more worth your time if you want to drive 2 miles. We didn't.

      * One of the elevators is a little wobbly, but seems strong.

      * In all of our rooms, the fridge was always set to ice-cold (literally) and we could never find a way to change this.

      * The pretzel nuggets served during Happy Hour might change your life for the better, but if you don't have any self-control, you'd better just back away slowly.

      * Actually, the food here is pretty good, especially for a hotel restaurant, and the kitchen is very accommodating. The veggie burger is good and tastes homemade; the flatbread pizza is easily customizable; the turkey reuben is awesome and healthy. Even the snacks during Happy Hour are pretty reliable and contain a fair amount of fresh vegetables!

Overall, here's what we REALLY loved: The friendly service everywhere in this hotel. By the time we finished our last stay, we actually had a running list of everyone we wanted to acknowledge *by name* for going out of their way to give us a great experience:

      * Chauncey learned our breakfast order by heart, but she also greeted us by name each day and gave us a friendly chat and "Good morning," even when we didn't get anything in the cook-to-order breakfast line.

      * Diana, the morning hostess, was so friendly and sweet.

      * Justin, one of the night cooks, made us an awesome dinner one night and gave us great menu advice since we had eaten just about everything on there. [He's a talented guy.]

      * Angela and Simone provided excellent kitchen support and service.

      * Nick and Monty went out of their way to bartend with excellent service and advice. "Bartend" is actually quite an understatement: Monty is a true gentleman, very soft-spoken and polite, while Nick suggested a great local beer for us when we pried him for other drink suggestions outside of the hotel bar.

      * Kyle always greeted us with a smile from the front desk and helped us out with all of our room/hotel questions.

      * Erica, one of the housekeepers, was extremely professional while she was in our room AND while she was around the hotel.

This staff is just so impressive and I truly hope they are well-compensated for their service. This team definitely helped us feel comfortable and they set the bar high for future travel.
