Hands down the worst hotel I've ever had the opportunity to stay in. Found it on Hotels.com for almost $70 a night....probably should have been more appropriately priced at $25 a night. If I had not pre-paid I would have left immediately.

To begin, its not in what seems like the safest part of town. I am not from Louisville, so I admit I am making an assumption, but the general area seemed to be less than inviting.

The desk clerk, although very nice, didn't seem to have a firm grasp on what he was doing. There seemed to be a lot of 'sketchy' characters loitering around the building. The room we had was fairly close to the pool, which was full of screaming children, even at 10:30 pm when we checked in. The pool, probably due to the insane amount of children, seemed dirty and not very sanitary. There was food all over the ground of the pool area, and in general the entire place had a smell that was just a little off.

The room sort of stank of old urine...the toilet paper roll in the bathroom was half used, and hadn't even been changed. The mattress had what looked like a huge blood stain on it. We ended up just sleeping on top of the comforter.

I probably could go on for ages, but I'm sure anyone whose read this far gets the idea. I would have rather just slept in the car or drove straight through. If I could give negative points I would.

This place was horrible.  We went on a 3 1/2 week cross country trip and this was the worst hotel of the whole trip.  I booked it because of the cheap price and it was not worth it even then.  It was in a questionable part of town, the front desk people sat on the phone while i stood there and didn't even address me, they also MESSED UP billing me and checking me in, and somehow it took 3 people to fix the problem.  The place was dirty and i didn't feel comfortable walking in bare feet.  And the elevator was terrifying.  It made horrible noises and swayed and even got stuck!  Don't get a room here!! Go on hotels.com or hotwire.com or something and pay the extra 10 or 20 bucks and get something decent!!

Possibly the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. Do NOT stay here. Heed my warning and the cautionary tales of other travelers, or you too, will be adding your rant on this Hotel profile.

We attended a conference at this hotel where the reservation had been made for us.  We checked in late and found the night staff to be a bit over-bearing...like we were children who'd never entered a hotel before and we had to have everything explained to us in great detail...when all we wanted was to pay, get our keys, and go to bed.

There is one elevator for the place and God forbid if your room is on the opposite end.  We had to walk the entire upper circumfrance of the hotel to get to our room that was...right above the front desk.  The man who insisted on walking us around talked down to us and reaked of cigarette smoke, which did nothing to help my allergies.

However...the room was fine.  The bed was big and comfortable and the shower was very hot and accommodating.  We did have to make several requests for toilet paper refills.

The bar was simple and have standard fare like burgers, chicken tenders, skins, sandwiches...which were good.  Our bartender was fantastic...very friendly and took care of us with quick service.  Too bad they didn't offer music or a DJ or karaoke.

It's an older place that looks like it was a Holiday Inn in a previous life.  It worked just fine for our purposes, but I don't think I'd purposely go back.  The pool was like bath water and it was filled with about 20 screaming kids.  That's not the hotel's fault...but there was an employee keeping watch over the pool and he allowed tremendous horse play and running...someone could have gotten hurt.  Oh...and it's not a hot tub...it's a luke warm tub, but the jets in it kick tailfeathers!

I called the hotel an hour before I got there and they still gave me a great deal on a set of 3 rooms that we needed for one night.
The parking lot was huge and big enough for our 5 commercial trailers to be parked there for the night.
    Great food
    Great service
    Great price

The hotel that renovation time forgot.  Lobby smelled like a sewer.  Garbage overflowing in bathrooms.   Conference room was so hot and no one took any action to cool the place down...people were leaving. Automatic doors broke,  shower drain not working...stood in a foot of water during my shower.  Fire alarms kept going off, electrical wires hanging out of wall,  checked in to a blatantly dirty room,  no electricity in replacement room.....  dont stay here.

THIS PLACE IS A DUMP!  Funny thing is - at the checkout counter they encourage you to visit yelp and rate their facility. I feel like this is the Bates Hotel. I grew up in Louisville and rememeber company parties at this site - when it was a Holiday Inn. The sayig holds true - you get what you pay for. But heck at least at the Super 8 or Motel 6 they invest to make their property look appealing. I am checking out tomorrow and CANT WAIT! The location is ideal to airport and lots of restaurants, but until the owners invest in this properey ......ewww!

The staff ws pleasant and I made my reservations via Hotels.com ...... they lied!!!! Gave this hotel 3 stars. If I could have went below one star I would have. I don't consider myself overly sensitive but this place is icky!

This place was chill little ghetto spot for a very reasonable price. Located near a score of good restaurants and easy freeway access. The service staff was super friendly and helpful which makes up for a lot.

The room left something to be desired. It wasn't particularly clean or at least did not appear so. I had some insectoid roommates that didn't cause me much problem although some folks might object to these free loading 6 legged freaks.

All in all, this place served its purpose, a place to crash my face into a pillow and wake up warm and dry the next morning. Good enough for me. If you find yourself frequently complaining about what a hotel may or may not lack.. this may not be the place for you.

Not a good place to stay. If you have any other option go for it. Room has everything broken from TV to restroom sink. I was too tired to call at 2 AM so had to crash there anyway. But if you have option, find another hotel to stay.

My first stay here tonite. Probly not again though. Room is ok. Adequate elec outlets but hidden on wall at bed's headboard! Tv is not so good with very limited channels. Otherwise a pretty good room. Pillows are obviously needing replacement long time ago too. Heater works good, and is cold weather now, so sure needed. Bedding is otherwise pretty good. $165 is a lot for this. Nicer and newer places usually avail for same prices. Big farm show in town, so rooms are scarce. Thos works ok and is close to Atlantic Aviation where our airplane is parked. Wi-fi does not work either.

My husband and I were in town for a wedding, stayed here because the bridal party had a block of rooms.  There was a HUGE car show in town and this hotel was the only one where they could get a block of rooms.  We all found out why.  A former Holiday Inn, this place looks like it hasn't gotten any maintenance since changing hands.  Not just dinged baseboards, rusty fixtures and ancient carpeting, but unreliable elevators, no working room phones, a VERY spartan "continental breakfast" and it gets worse.

One family that came for the wedding had an a/c that didn't work.  Someone tried to fix it the next day, but when the family turned it on afterwards, it smoked for 5 mins before they gave up and turned it off.  Another guest's "accessible" room was no where near up to code, and the bride and groom planned to have the "lifeguard" fired after one of the children in attendance got into trouble in the pool and the "lifeguard" never noticed.

The maid didn't come by our room until 6:30 pm on Saturday, and not at all on Sunday.  We did see a cart; maybe they were only doing rooms for people checking out?  The young woman at the front desk was caught unprepared when we asked about churches for Sunday.  She did start searching on line and printed out some directions, but nearly all hotels have a list of nearby churches ready for any guest who asks.

The shuttle driver who took us to the airport this morning said he'd been making his rounds earlier and found a homeless couple asleep under a staircase!  I'm not surprised.  The doors are NOT secured - they slide open whenever anyone walks by.  At least one only had a hole where a lock should have been.

It's not secured, it's not maintained, the staff don't seem to have gotten much training, the "breakfast" is so stingy that the Shoney's across the road is an appealing alternative.  The ONLY thing this place has going for it is its proximity to the airport.

This was my worst hotel stay in memory.  Nasty smelling common areas around a cloudy indoor swimming pool.  Dirty carpets in my room.  4 fire alarms the first night.  Ancient mattress with tired pillows.  It was a complete horror show.  I returned home exhausted with some kind of insect bite on my shoulder.  Never again!

This is the shittiest hotel I've ever stayed in. Incredibly grungy, no dark curtains to shut out lights that are on ALL NIGHT LONG at the pool, toilet running constantly, sink dripping, no soap or shampoo, gross foam pillows, lumpy bed, etc. It's almost as if the place is going for some kind of shit-tastic trophy. Yuck.

We stayed here in Nov. 2014 and I will never stay here again.  The first room we were assigned to the keycard would not work.  Finally got it to work and someone else was already assigned to room.  Next room again keycard would not work and finally got it to work.  Once in the room the toilet had a long black hair on it.  There was mold on the heat and air unit.  The air did not work and has to ask for a fan just to cool room down. Ask for a refrigerator took us 3 refrigerators to finally get one that works.   Beds were not only small but very uncomfortable.  Staff was friendly and said they would give us a discount.  They have us 10.00 off our bill.

I would say that this place is losing money hand over fist.  Came there for a couple of days for a training class in one of their conference rooms, our company reserved rooms for our attendees. When I arrived the night before I drove around the place looking to see if it was open. Both sides of street looked dead and there were just a few cars. Like only the workers??  I cancelled and stayed elsewhere.

The next morning at training I saw the expected. Everywhere you go you smell the carpet, see the disrepair and notice the deferred maintenance. This is a hotel from the sixties or seventies and has not been updated since.
This place needs a lot of budget to update throw away items and a team of maintenance to start actually fixing something. Everything looks like a twelve year old has worked on it, they can tear it apart to see what's inside but can't identify problem much less reassemble/fix. Not sure how they pass inspections.

First day. Just had the lunch. The lunch is as bad as the rooms. Rosemary chicken, wild rice and green beans. Chicken resembled raw hide chew toys, rice was like plastic filler and the beans were just funky.  Brownie was pretty good.

This place is a dump. I do not say that lightly. My room is scary. I'm looking at the floor and there are about 6000 colored stains on the carpet - like gum or the result of a piñata party with red velvet cake. Absolutely disgusting. I'm not going to even think about walking barefoot on this carpet. I haven't yet checked the bed, I'm actually afraid. Stay away, far far away. This place wants $150+ a night which should cover the copay on your trip the emergency room to treat whatever fungus or disease you will pick up by actually spending the night here. If I wasn't so tired I would blow this place and just drive the 4 hours home and demand my money back but now I actually have to brave sleeping in the bed.

The folks who manage this place should be ashamed and embarrassed. I feel sorry for the people who work here, they are overworked and have to apologize way too often. Definitely the worst place I have ever stayed.

I'm a military officer and travel all over the country. It is very frustrating when I stay in a 4 to 5 star hotel and they charge me internet when the less expensive hotel down the road has free internet. I state the previous to really say that this hotel is a 1 or 2 star at best with the WORSE free internet I have ever experienced in my 15 years of traveling around the country. If it wasn't for a huge convention being in town I wound NEVER-EVER stay in this hotel again. Stay away from this hotel if you can if you want good dependable internet.....this hotel ABSOLUTELY sucks when talking about the internet !!!!

14Feb2015....this is an update, above was written couple days ago. I had booked this hotel until the 16th but could not take it anymore and had to change hotels. The experience got worse. The day after above review there was no hot water the next mooring and then the cable went out on television most of the day. I will say to a minor credit to hotel they did reimburse me for one night, but that still does not take away how horrible this hotel is.....i really feel sorry for staff because they are very nice and try to be professional but the hotel itself is just awful. The owners need to wake up and take care of this place.

Business travel isn't always glamorous. There are delayed flights, luggage getting lost, rude people, stinky taxis, etc. But usually when you get to your hotel room, you can kick your shoes off and sit in peace for a minute or two.

But I wouldn't take my shoes off if you're staying here. In fact, I'd keep them on, along with your clothes, zipped and bundled from head to toe.

My company booked a block of rooms for us in October for a convention down the road. The first red flag was the reception - dingy, indifferent front desk personnel in scrubby-looking polo shirts, keys that weren't registered/didn't unlock rooms... and oh, those rooms.

To get to the rooms, you have to walk through the seven layers of hell, or, rather, the dilapidated and decaying lobbies and hallways. Carpets are pulled up or curling, elevators smell like dank cigarettes smoked 20 years ago, garbage piled up in the receptacles. I mean, there's not really a nice way of saying it, and I don't feel like I have to be nice because it's so gross, but this place is just dirty. It's old, it's dated, it's dirty. The people working there don't give a flying fook about the property - it shows.

The fire alarm went off 4+ times during our stay. At night. And why? They didn't know and were not fussed enough to FIX IT.

The bar didn't take credit cards. There's no on-site food. It's just.... no.

No. No. No. Never will I step foot in the Fern Valley Hotel & Conference Center and I urge you to most likely never do such a thing, either.

*I know there are many more details I am leaving out, but I feel the need to post this here because I wrote an original review the day after I got back on Trip Advisor and it's NOWHERE to be found. Interesting.

Zero stars!!  DO NOT STAY HERE!!  I cannot even understand how the health dept hasn't shut this place down. Inside and out this place is a &#!@ hole. From the floors to the ceilings, it is completely falling apart,  EXTREMELY run down, dated, has a old, somebody -died- there type -of- musty odor. Many of the doors don't have room numbers on them, so they got real classy and wrote the number of the room on the door with a black sharpie... then. when you walk in the room, you're greeted by BUGS  climbing on the curtains in your room. Keep in mind, this room is going for $150 a night!! The room is no bigger than a 10×10, the wallpaper is peeling off the wall, the baseboards are separating from the wall, the ceiling has patchmarks, paint is literally coming off the walls and the carpet reeks. The second we walked in and took a look around, we went online and looked for another place to stay. To make matters worse, the front desk could care less and still charged us a full night, even though we explained the situation and told them we're leaving. So, we are currently driving an hour away to a much, much nicer hotel. (There is a convention in town near that bug- infested dump,  so everywhere else was fully booked.) We GLADLY jumped in the car to drive away.  Disgusting.

This is a sad excuse for a hotel. Don't let the pictures on their website and descriptions fool you- first of all there is no free continental breakfast, let alone breakfast of any kind at all, no wifi, pool, restaurant, bar, or even an accessible ice machine. Let's just say that I am not picky with hotels, I have staged at some very cheap hotels with not the greatest accommodations, but this is by far the JANKIEST place I have ever set foot in. You walk in to a lobby with caution tape everywhere that you look. A gift shop is on the left, AKA a closet with 3 bags of fun sized chips sitting on a shelf. As you continue walking though the hotel, you realize that literally every accommodation that is advertised on their website is either broken, shut down, or roped off with caution tape. The carpet smells like mold and is peeling off the ground. The pool is drained and has something growing on the bottom of it. The elevator was last inspected in 2013 and smells like urine. The hotel room has the deadbolt literally ripped off of the doorframe.  When my room of 4 people ran out of toilet paper, we asked the front desk if we could have some more and were told that they couldn't provide more toilet paper, so we had to find a closet to get more from. When we tried to call the front desk to ask where the ice machine is, we realized that the phone was merely a decoration and had no cord to the wall. To actually get to the ice machine, you have to limbo under a roped off area of caution tape, walk down a dark hallway on carpet that surely has mold or something else growing on it, and go into the depths of this sketchy excuse for a hotel. Some rooms are missing room number plates and have sharpie written on them instead. Do I need to go on? Save yourself your money and spend it on somewhere else. PS there's literally a White Castle in the parking lot of the Fern Valley.... That's gotta be the biggest red flag ever...

Would love to give the quality of customer service a big fat ZERO thanks to Laquana and her complete lack of customer service skills. Called simply to discuss adding an additional night to my stay, instead was treated extremely rudely from the moment Laquana answered the phone. My simple call turned into a one sided debate, with me being lectured by Laquana...

Poor customer service costs businesses billions of dollars each year and besides losing my annual business, Fern Valley just lost the business of my entire Salesforce which routinely travels to Louisville on a quarterly basis.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place
