Worst Hampton Inn we've ever stayed in. Staff is very friendly but the hotel has VERY few amenities for the price. The bathrooms have no fans in them, which doesn't make sharing a room very nice. (There is a small vent, but it doesn't do much in the morning, if you know what I mean.) The hotel doesn't have an onsite laundry facility, though it does offer dry cleaning services. There is NO in-room WiFi access, which for a business class hotel doesn't make any sense. Yes, they do have ONE ethernet port in each room, but if you bring two laptops, one of you has to go down to the lobby to use the internet, which varies from fast to mind-numbingly slow. Considering we paid $110 a night for a double, you'd think they'd have the money to provide wireless in EACH room like the even the Super 8 does, but no. Their plumbing is noisy after use and the pretty hotel pool had rust stains and some sort of algae on the bottom. (GROSS! The Louisville waterfront area was cleaner to swim in!) And a cockroach ran into the hotel while we were checking in and NONE of the staff made a move to pick it up. One of the guests, fortunately, took it outside and released it, but the staff seemed fairly complicit about the fact that a roach ran into their lobby. I should've known then this particular Hampton Inn wasn't worth our money.
And, yes, I've stayed at 6-8 Hampton Inns, so I know this one isn't indicative of the chain. AVOID!

I had a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn for my wedding in Louisville this past weekend, and all of my guests loved it!  The woman who helps with large block reservations, Krista, was so incredibly helpful, and all of the staff was great.  Thank you! If you are visiting Louisville and want to stay downtown, this is a great place to stay.

This is a great hotel!  My boyfriend and I drove overnight from Philadelphia and arrived in Louisville around 9:15AM.  They were able to check us into a room almost immediately.  The room did not have a refrigerator (which most Hampton's I stay in do) but we asked for one and they brought one to our room free of charge.

The hotel is also in a great location!!!  It's 2-3 blocks from 4th Street Live which is where all of the restuarants, bars and shopping is located.

Our  4-day stay at Hampton Inn Louisville Downtown recently was by far the best hotel stay we have probably had, and we travel often.  The staff, especially at the front desk, are refreshingly friendly, professional, helpful and knowledgeable.  Our young son forgot his backpack full of toys at the hotel and once we got home, we called the front desk.  They insisted on sending his bag back to us via overnight shipping without charging us!

The hotel area is within walking distance to the best restaurants, entertainment and museums.  When staying in Louisville, we won't be staying anywhere else!

Nice hotel. Decor is a tad dated in my opinion, but overall a nice clean hotel with a friendly staff.

This Hampton could use an update. Its not bad but, its definitely seen better days. This would not preclude me from staying here again.

Typical Hampton formula with a local twist from the very friendly staff. They also have a sense of humor, which is sorta rare these days. The sign on the front desk saying "if you want someplace quiet to stay, you might want to go someplace else" was excellent.

Walking distance from a LOT of things, including some great eats down on Market Street, the downtown entertainment area and a dodgy looking
    "adult store."

    Thumbs up from this Yelptard.

very nice, as far as Hampton Inns go, that is. The rooms could use a bit of an update and there's no restaurant on-site, but the manager assured me that a refresh is coming soon for the rooms. I met the project manager for same at breakfast and she confirmed that this update is in the works. (See? It pays to talk to people.)

There is a small bar in the lobby, which is nice. The barman was very friendly, but there are no beers on tap, which is a shame, because there are quite a few local brews that you really should sample before you leave town.

The hotel is about five minutes from the airport if you drive like I do (ever seen "The Transporter" flicks? I drive like the devil himself. mortals could probably make the trip in 15 minutes...). The location is pretty good for walking around town, too. There are quite a few places to eat within a few blocks. The baseball bat museum is about a ten minute walk from the front door of the hotel, so do check it out if you get the chance.

Lots of parking is available for free, which is nice.

As with all Hampton Inns, there is a free breakfast every morning. Not exactly my type of dining, but it is free. Coffee is available all day in the lobby. Also good.

I didn't see many cabs waiting at the front door, but the manager assures me that one can be had in relatively short order. Handy, to be sure.

A nice stay in a lovely, up-and-coming (but, thankfully not gentrified) city. I will be back and I shall stay here.

One of my favorite Hampton Inns. Clean and the staff always takes good care of me. pleany of great dining and beverage options a short walk away.

The only negative is lack of wireless WIFI

This Hampton Inn is doing a great job of customer service! We used the complimentary shuttle van 3 times. How nice to be able to go out for dinner and not have to drive in an unfamiliar city! The breakfast was good, dining area large, open clean with lots of seating. This Hampton Inn had a bar open from 5:30 to  11 with a good variety of beverages to choose from. The king bed was comfortable. My only complaint was in a handicapped accessible bathroom there was no good place for your toiletries. Maybe they could add a shelf over the toilet?

A comfortable facility with the two things I most crave in a hotel: a decent complementary breakfast and free wi-fi.

The room was comfortable.  The heating was just right, and the bedding and mattress were ideal.  (They do need to rethink the pillows; they are not up to the standards in the rest of the room.)  A drawback is the maintenance.  My clock radio didn't work.  The first day, I mentioned this at the front desk.  They seemed interested, thanked me, and immediately wrote this down in a log.  I assumed that the radio would be replaced.  Never happened during the next three days of my stay.

Nice looking swimming pool, although I didn't have a chance to try it firsthand.

Location is convenient to downtown and restaurants.  Louisville is a rather nice walking town.  As they don't have a restaurant of their own, they should compile a list of good places that will deliver.

Breakfast is pleasant, with good fruit options and a whole lot of breads, bagels, and pastries; along with a waffle station and heartier entree options (eggs, sausages.)

Their shuttle makes pickups and dropoffs from the airport.  They will basically take you anywhere within a reasonable radius.

All in all, a great facility for a very reasonable cost.  As soon as they fix the maintenance issues, they will get that fifth star.

I stayed at this Hampton Inn for about a week with 11 teenagers and 4 other adults. My first impression is not very good. We had a long day of traveling, gathering luggage, and acquiring rental cars. By the time we got to the hotel it was just passed midnight and we were exhausted and the man working the front desk was not exactly the friendliest or the most helpful. I understand its super late, but isn't it his job to be welcoming, friendly, and accommodating?

The rooms were nice, clean, and had working A.C. so we were happy campers for the night. In the morning we went down to breakfast, which was pretty standard, and actually ended up switching rooms. The guy who was working last night ended up arranging it for us so all of our rooms could be on the same floor and close to each other. That redeemed my opinion of him.

The staff was very nice, the facilities are clean, the pool is fun, the workout center is under construction, and the WIFI works wonderfully. Also there is tons of food locations near by. My only complaint is the size of the rooms. A room with 2 queen beds does not have a lot of extra space, but overall a very enjoyable experience.

Also, props to the staff for doing a good job dealing with a hotel full of teenagers. We were not the only large teen group staying that week.

My needs seem different than that of the other reviewers. For a hotel at this price point not having wifi is just absurd. I appreciate it is accessible wired but that isnt nearly the same.

The bed was also very stiff and the comforter was very off. The room was clean, service was fine, but i got the worst night of sleep in a while on this bed.

Diamond Member -  I already booked a king suite / king sofa study.  The gentleman who checked me in said he put me in their suite.  Top floor multi room suite with double door entrance.  Basically an apartment. They really take care of their Diamond members.  Was here for a week and the spacious suite made it very enjoyable and easy to get work done.  Service was excellent and the breakfast was delicious as usual.  Easily in my top 5 hampton's.

    Bed bugs!!!  Bed bugs!!

I spent 2 night with my wife & infant son.  On our trip home we noticed these sores appearing on our sons arms.  Later that night I noticed I had them on my legs too!  Upon doing a little research we found they  were exactly what is pictured on many websites documenting the bites.  The next day I called the hotel to speak with the manager about an infestation issue and was hung up on twice!  When I finally got the manager on the phone he said he would "investigate it".  Two days later I received a voice mail from a management company saying that they did not believe there was a problem and that was that.  On top of that ,the hotel is in a very bad part of town and my wife did not feel safe walking around.

    Stay away at all costs!!

Good price, reasonably friendly staff, good location, free parking and a decent room. It's a bit on the old side for Hamptons, but the value is solid. Our room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the waffle iron worked. No complaints, but nothing special.

No problem with the hotel itself, but they need to take care of the panhandler issues.  In the five days we stayed here, we were twice accosted by people demanding bus fare as we left our car.  I understand that they have no control over the street but this was in their own parking lot!

After paying for a room we shouldn't need to pay a toll to enter or exit the parking lot.

I am returning back to Louisville for the University of Louisville graduation at the Yum Center. The Hampton Inn is a bit dated but the friendly staff and central location easily overcome the 80's decor.

Our room was very clean and let's be honest, it's a bed to lay my head on in between sips of bourbon. They do have a bar on sight which is always a plus. The air conditioning may not be working as it is hotter than two mice making whoopie in a wool sock!

Plenty of parking and it seems to be safe, secure and well lit. Overall, not bad for the price but may look at other options next visit.

Stayed here on a weekend trip to Louisville.  I will say that the lobby is updated and very welcoming, looks great!  The rooms on the other hand are nothing to write home about.  Small and outdated, but it works for a place to lay your head for a night.  The continental breakfast was good, great selection, but weird layout.  You're constantly in someone's way and it doesn't flow as well as it looks like it should.

Favorite thing about this place?  The hotel bar.  If you are new to Louisville, ask the bartender about where the locals hang out.  We got some great advice while we visited and truly believe that our experience wouldn't have been as great if we hadn't asked.  Thanks barkeep!

The rooms and lines are showing signs of wear, the push in lock on the bathroom door was loose and eventually fell out.  The housekeeping was spotty, the toilet paper had not been replenished nor the trash dumped,  The lobby appeared to have been updated.  Other than the close proximity to I65 and the Downtown, I would be apt to take a pass.

The plus side was that we had a window view to the fireworks and air show.

Average Hampton Inn. Free surface lot parking, though you need to get a parking pass at check-in and put it on the dash.

It is in Downtown- just minutes from restaurants and university medical center.

The property is dated and ventilation in the rooms are rather poor. The price is usually higher than average Hampton Inn's, but is similar to other hotels in the Downtown area.

The Hampton Inn: right off Interstate 65, friendly staff, clean rooms, decent continental breakfast.

Stopped in the Hampton Inn a few times while traveling to or through Louisville.  Being next to the interstate and walk-able to 4th street is awesome.  It took about 10 minutes to get into the 4th Street Live district, and 15 min to get to the Palace Theater.  The rooms are very comfortable, and the rates are pretty affordable, especially if you have AAA or book through a discount site.

The Hampton has a private lot, so you can rest easy that your vehicle will be safe and sound while you're out doing whatever it is you do in Louisville.

Also, to all my cycling friends: this place is bike friendly, take your expensive carbon frames up to the room, then ride 'em down to Eva Bandman Park for the Cyclocross races.  That's the way to do it.

I recently stayed here on business and was impressed. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The free shuttle service is nice, it even took us to our meetings downtown.

Nice lobby area and breakfast selection. The rooms were comfy. I utilized the fitness center and the business center and both fit my needs. My coworker used the pool and enjoyed it.

I would stay here again! My only complaint was the ventilation in the rooms, especially the bathrooms, was rough. Other than that, it was a great stay!
