Brand new, beautiful, clean!!! Crisp clean linens, fluffy down pillows! Nicer than some 5 star hotels I've stayed in!

Best Holiday Inn I have stayed at modern and well put together. Convenient and safe location from the airport with a nice bar / restaurant attached. WiFi worked fine.

The good news is that this hotel is near the airport.

The bad news is that this hotel is near the airport.

So near that I imagined the undercarriage of one plane coming into land (at approximately 5:23 a.m. on the morning we stayed here) may actually have clipped the top of the building, it was THAT loud!

It is otherwise a bright and shiny new Holiday Inn with most everything you would expect from a chain hotel. Like all hotels it comes with its own little failings and a certain lack of attention to detail.

We were upgraded to a king room with its own jacuzzi. A nice touch except when we filled the jacuzzi and got in it, the water started to drain away almost as quickly as it was filling. Inspection of the stopper revealed a cracked rubber seal that couldn't do its job properly. Oh well, we got bubbly jets for about 5 minutes or so I suppose? Better than a slap in the face with a wet kipper.

Our room was also very very c-c-c-cold, all attempts to follow the thermostat instructions proving a fruitless exercise to raise the temperature above 'tepid'. Every time we came back to the room we had to temporarily put on more clothes than we had been wearing outdoors! I'm guessing they are trying to save the planet one hotel guest at a time.

The view from our room was of desolate wasteland with the highway beyond. Don't come here with the expectation it will inspire you to write poetry.

The bed was comfy enough, the pillows plump and inviting after a strenuous day out and about and all-in-all it was relatively good value for money, especially considering it is just 1 exit away from the airport and considerably cheaper than the Holiday Inn directly at SDF.

However, I would advise investing in some industrial-strength earplugs for those plane landings though!

Near the airport. A short drive to downtown. And generally pretty clean. A night (or two) stay here is a pretty good deal.

I had my hesitations pulling up here during my short stay though. I pass it twice - the street doesn't have a sign - but came to use the Taco Bell as a landmark. It's right off the freeway so if you're just sleeping here and going about your business elsewhere, it's convenient enough. But, don't stay here if you want access to anything unique about Louisville or a pleasant view for that matter. It's literally along an out-of-the-way strip that has a few gas stations, some chain restaurants and a few other shops.

In town for a marathon, we requested details about a late check out. initially the check in staff was totally clueless and couldn't provide us an answer either way. They kept dancing around asking their manager and telling us to keep checking back. The next morning, however, the daytime staff was beyond helpful and told us while they don't normally allow late checkout - note that! - it wouldn't be too much of a problem because they weren't too busy. A god send! It was such a nice refresher from the service the night before.

Since our stay was so short we didn't get to try the on site sports bar that also served breakfast.

If you're familiar with Holiday Inn's I'm sure you'll find this one, well, familiar. Very affordable and a great value to lay your head down at night.
