Never again, Holiday Inn.  Granted, that isn't a totally fair statement.  I've stayed at some decent Holiday Inns before, but this was unacceptable.

My group chose this hotel because we had a race in Shreveport that weekend.  We were told by the hotel staff that this particular hotel was in fact near the race site.  In fact, none of the hotels were near the race site, but the person we talked to wanted us to stay there, so that is what he told us.  Actually, that seemed to be a theme of our stay: while the staff was friendly, they were not professional and only told you what they thought you wanted to hear.

While we were checking in, we were informed that we could not get 1st floor rooms or two rooms next to each other.  Keep in mind, we booked the rooms at the same time on the same credit card.  Next thing we know, we have two sets of room keys - one of which IS on the first floor.  Clearly, he had not checked his computer before spilling that information.  Not only could we not get rooms next to each other, we were put on opposite sides of the hotel.  If this had been an indoor entrance hotel, that would not have been an issue because we could have a mutual meeting place in the lobby.  But this hotel still does outdoor entrances to rooms, so we had to park the car in the center and walk out and around to our respective rooms.  I have no problem with walking... except when its storming outside, like it was when we checked in.

Onto the rooms:  They smelled a bit like mold, had cracks in the ceiling, had peeling wallpaper, and beds that were reminiscent of a wooden cot.  One of our rooms managed to have a tiny fridge and microwave, while the other had nothing of the sort.  Everything about this hotel is inconsistent and unsatisfactory, so we will have to find a new place to stay when we return next summer.

Thankfully, we were not in our rooms much that weekend, but we definitely resent paying nearly $100 per room for such a disappointing array of amenities and staff service.
