This is a nice, clean, friendly hotel, with great amenities, including a lap pool, free wi-fi, good coffee in the lobby all day long, free iced tea and cheese and crackers in the early evenings, and a free breakfast bar until 10 a.m., if you are up that early (which is a crap shoot in New Orleans).

Stayed here while on a school related convention. Employees were nice. Breakfast was good. Rooms were nice and clean...though the beds were a little small. The pool was tiny but I'm not a fan of swimming while out of town anyway.

free wi-fi is always a plus of course :) and the guest computer in the lobby was accessible to my needs to check school email when rolling up from the french quarter at 3am. :)

Super clean room, with a super friendly staff. They lost our reservations, but they were more upset about in then we were.  The place is very pretty too, and very detailed. From the drive way to the chairs in the lobby, this place screams New Orleans southern class style.

This place is close to the street car route(the stop is just down the block) and there is a pretty nice restaurant right on the corner.

When i go back i would love to stay here again, right in the heart of the Garden District.

I stay at this hotel when ever I'm in New Orleans (which used to be every month). It's not fancy, but it's clean and well maintained. I like that the parking is free (or included in the cost of the room) and you can come and go without a valet. I also like the proximity to the Audubon Park where I would go running every day if I could, so beautiful. Service is fantastic. Price is fair. Close to all that's going on in the garden district.

We stay here whenever we visit the city. Great location, especially if you have students attending or graduating from Tulane or Loyola. This is the best Hilton property for the money in New Orleans. It's a pleasant, clean, hotel with great amenities, including a lap pool, free wi-fi, good coffee in the lobby all day, free iced tea and cheese and crackers in the early evenings, and a free breakfast. Beds are very comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. The Superior Grill next door is a popular spot and great for a beer or supper.

We stayed here after 3 nights at the Chateau Bourbon in the French Quarter and wish we'd stayed here the whole time. If you're coming to New Orleans and have a car, don't stay in the French Quarter... drive 5 minutes away, get free parking (would've saved myself $100 right there), free hotel breakfast (pretty solid as far as chains go), and nice rooms. Front desk staff was great as well. (oh and the free wifi? yes please, and thank you)

Maybe I am getting old, but I am over the Bourbon Street/Canal Street/French Quarter scene. I enjoy the taste of certain drinks, I'm not in it to throw up and forget the evening, and I'd rather have a nice dinner than an all day bender, so staying in the Garden District just makes sense.

Great hotel -- Hampton Inns have the best beds around -- in a great neighborhood with easy access via trolley to whatever you want to do downtown. Of all the Hilton properties in the area, this is your best value with the best location.

Stayed here with a group of friends under my Hilton employee discount. I throughly enjoyed my stay, as did they! The girl who checked me in was very kind and informing. Rooms are clean, housekeeping does a wonderful job. We had a problem with our A/C and the maintenance man, Gary, replaced our A/C with a brand new one even though we commented on a very small rattle. Now THAT is guest service...these guys totally went above and beyond for us. It is hotels like this that will keep us as returning guests...even the five star hotels I've stayed in throughout my life would not go above and beyond for us as much as these guys did. ALSO - I am so glad this hotel offers free parking. You can feel totally safe with your car parked here overnight due to the fact that you must have your room key to access the parking lot. It's extremely close to the FQ, which is where we always spend most of our time in NOLA. It is located right on the street car line which is convenient if you do not want to fight for parking in the FQ. Hampton Inn isn't the "fanciest" hotel under the Hilton brand, but this place was actually extremely nice and we were all very very VERY impressed. I really hope this place is available next time I book!!! Note to management: You have trained your employees WELL! Kudos to you! I am giving this property a 5 out of 5 because my experience here was nothing short of that.

This is one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable, and the staff is very friendly. Brandi at the front desk gave great recommendations for restaurants, running routes, and even set up car service when we needed it. Located in the Garden District and right on the St Charles line, this hotel is in an  excellent location. This would be a five star rating, but when I returned to my room after breakfast (11:10am) the housekeepers had already turned me out of my room and we're standing in the doorway chatting!

Having been to Mardi Gras once during college and remembering absolutely nothing, this 2 day business trip was my first real visit to New Orleans.  The city itself is somewhat "dirty," especially after another hurricane.

The hotel is located right in the middle of St. Charles Avenue, close to the Garden District.  This area of town is very architectural and serene, with infamous oak trees all down the street.  The streetcar/trolley stop is a few steps from the front door, and there's free parking in the back (don't lose your room key - you need it to enter the lot).

The hotel lobby was charming in decor.  You can see their quaint little pool through the glass doors and windows towards the back.  I wouldn't worry about swimming in the pool, though - it's small size make me assume it's there for looks.

The hotel receptionist was very friendly and helpful.  She made us feel welcome and comfortable.  My king suite was on a higher floor and at the end of the hallway, as i had requested, and from it you can see St. Charles Ave and the downtown skyline.  The furnishings seem old, but they are in keeping with the area.  It wouldn't hurt them to change the carpets.  I did see one little ant crawling on one of the chairs, which kind of creeped me out.  I looked for others but found none.  Even so, the room was very clean.  The bed sheets and comforter were fresh and comfortable - always important.  I didn't have time to enjoy their free continental breakfast, but no fret - they had "breakfast to go" in little baggies for people in a hurry  :)

The only thing that concerned me was the price of the rooms.  Everything in the area is a bit more pricey really.  If my company hadn't paid for the trip, I don't know if i would've chosen this hotel.  That being said, and with such convenience to restaurants, the zoo, downtown, and the French Quarter, i am very likely to return to this Hampton Inn...as long as my funds are sufficient!

Staff was extremely easy to work with (changed our room selection at our request upon arrival). Hotel rooms are amply sized, lots of space, nice sized bathroom with extra counter space. Refrigerator in the room was great to store leftovers from all the great meals we ate. Continental breakfast has both hot and cold items.
Very safe with key access needed just to use the elevator. Valets are relatively fast and very courteous.
Housekeeping was accommodating, cleaning our room each day upon our requested time. Convenient location.

Well worth the value and will exceed your expectations for a Hampton Inn.

This is a nice hotel. It's a Hampton, but since it's in the Garden District, it's more expensive than your typical Hampton. We paid 152 (AAA discount) for a king-sized bed room. That said, the parking is free, which is not the case in most NOLA hotels, so, in that respect, the room wasn't expensive at all.
Front desk was super-friendly and welcoming.
If you need to use the gym, there is one a block away that you have to walk to, but it's very nice and so were the people who greeted me there.
Also, there is no laundry room, but luckily, we didn't need one this time.

At first, I was disappointed at the price tag because we were coming on a crazy weekend. The NBA All star game and the first parade of mardi gras made it very hard to find a room and everything was more expensive than normal weekends so I just took the plunge and I'm so glad I did! I stayed in sparkling clean room that was the pinnacle of comfort, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was way above average. If we ever come in from Denver again, I will be staying here. It was worth every penny and more!

Good value, quiet location, and only a trolley ride to all the action. Nice breakfast spread and free secure parking (a huge plus in NOLA).  Rooms are clean and functional, although slightly dated compared to the lobby.  Staff was very courteous and efficient.  Will definitely be back.

Even though I live in New Orleans when my mom came in town to visit I stayed in the hotel with her.  She did not want to stay downtown which limited her hotel options but this worked out very well for her.  The location was great, the price was reasonable and everything went very smoothly.

We stayed here for a wedding this past weekend, and it worked out really well.  I know when you think Hampton Inn it doesn't necessarily conjure up excitement but it was a very well maintained and attractive property with a nice patio, spacious and well appointed rooms, and excellent staff.  We had no trouble finding parking in the hotel lot ever despite it being Voodoo weekend.  Parking is included, the St. Charles streetcar stop is very, very close by.

The highlight of this hotel though is the staff;  Dawn, in particular.  We arrived for a wedding that was to be held in the Quarter, the day after Halloween.  When I had tried to book a timed cab I was told by the cab company that was not possible in New Orleans if you aren't going to the airport, and I'd just have to take my chances and call an hour and a half early and hope it arrives in time.  Enter Dawn.  She took the initiative to call one of her cab contacts (without my even asking her to do it for me) and then called my cell phone to let us know she had arranged for him to pick us up at 4:30, which he did as promised.

I will be writing a letter to their management so they know how Dawn came through for us, but I wanted the Yelpverse to know it too.

Because of work I have stayed at a few Hamptons now and this one was just okay.  While the price was good for me, this one needs a renovation.

Pros: Great shower pressure and A/C works well. 3 miles away from the French Quarter.  We walked there nearly every day (an hour almost).  Or you can just take the trolley for 3 bucks each way.  Extremely close to a gas station, Fresh Market (a grocery store that sells everything) and eateries.  Gorgeous walk to the coveted French Quarter and Bourbon Street.

Cons: Breakfast- Only 1 out of 4 days was the breakfast well stocked and the food was hot.  I get that the eggs are nice and powdered and probably from a bag (Fun fact about Lily: I'm allergic to egg whites and yet I can eat these eggs) but they were stone cold.  And the waffle mix was always low.  Our room was a bit dirty and we definitely need a new bed.  I think our bed pre-dates the Nixon administration.

Ideal spot, right on St Charles Avenue.

Request a front-facing room and enjoy the pleasant rattling if the streetcar out front.

What a find!  We unexpectedly decided to spend some time in New Orleans and wanted a hotel that would keep my husband's Hilton Honors account active.  Hubby also is a loyal listener to Harry Shearer's "Le Show" so we knew we wanted to stay in the Garden District.  The Hampton Inn was perfect for us.  Right on the streetcar line, close to several great food & drink establishments and just a great hotel all in all.  We decided to add a third night before we even checked in and they linked the two reservations so we didn't have to do a thing.  Beautiful courtyard with a one-lane lap pool.  We took our breakfast out there each morning.  Typical Hampton Inn breakfast.  The afternoon cheese and tea reception was a nice touch too.  The free parking in a secured lot was a really good perk.

We liked it here so much that we're thinking about booking a Christmas trip to New Orleans and staying here again.

[Check out my reviews for Sovereign Pub, the Milk Bar and other nearby locations too.]
