My sister, neices, daughter and I stayed here over labor day. We got 2 adjoining rooms, which accomodated us all very nicely, 4 queen size beds and 2 bathrooms, 2 everything, it was wonderful. The managers receptions and the morning breakfast was both very nice. The location was awesome, two blocks from canal and bourbon streets with a little convenience store right beside us. Everyone was super nice and eager to assist. We will definately be back.

A very great experience in all aspects.  Service, service, service!  Friendliness of the entire staff with prompt reply to any request.  A delicious and generous buffet breakfast and Wed night the wine and cheese (among other goodies) manager's reception were just the "icing on the cake."   The rooms were big and comfy and the beds extremely nice.  Location is great with a mini shopping plaza attached and a store that sells alcohol just a block or so away.  But if you need transportation - Ask for Eddie Seaton for your cab driver - he's awesome too!

I've been to New Orleans three other times for vacations. This trip we booked a this Hampton. For the pricing and the location, only a block from Canal street, I would strongly you book there. My wife and I like Hilton properties. Other hotels were twice the price.

Very large bedroom area with crazy great high ceilings.  The bathroom, however, was oddly built and seemed a little dingy (I think it was the lighting).  The staff was friendly and the check in and out process was pretty quick. Beds were comfortable and internet is free in the rooms, unlike the Marriott (see my review).  Good place to stay for the business traveler and it is a short walk to Bourbon and other French Quarter destinies, so good place to stay for the pleasure traveler, too.

Not much to add to the other reviews; they're accurate (heck, that's why I stayed here)!  A few additional things to mention...

No, they didn't award Bill F. a pack of M&Ms and a water bottle to apologize for not having the room ready on check-in.  My room WAS ready when I arrived, and it included a Snickers bar and a water bottle.

The room had more power outlets than any hotel room that I've ever stayed in.  Truly an amazing thing; if you've read any of my other hotel reviews, you'll note that I'm frequently griping about such things.  My six-outlet power strip (which I *always* carry with me on trips) never came out of my suitcase while I was here.  Wow.

Parking is costly.  I don't have my bill in front of me, but I believe it was about $25 or $26 a day.  But that's "the going rate" for any hotel in this part of town, so I mention it only to forewarn you, not as a complaint.  It's 100% valet parking, not self-parking, because they use another building's parking garage half a block away.

I've watched this Hampton Inn, a Hilton Company property, gradually go downhill over the last six years. It is, today, not a place I would recommend. It's rundown, noisy, things don't work and business essentials, like Internet, are dial-up slow. Of course, most Hiltons suffer from slow Internet ever since the company made a change last year.

Walked here from the train station and it wasn't too bad at all.  Also walked to Bourbon/French Quarter and that was even easier.  Good location and the room was huge.  Like super huge.  And as always the breakfast kicks every other free breakfast's ass.

The Hampton Inn franchise is a great choice for the business trips. The rooms are nice with down pillows and the most amazing beds.  They have wireless internet too.  Hampton Inns all have the same boring breakfast buffets so don't expect anything extraordinary.

The New Orleans location is great because it's only a few blocks away from the French Quarter. The staff was helpful and let us use their elevators after we checked out (You must use your room key to get to any other floor)

Great location and great amenities.  The staff was terrific - Jeff and Robin were really great - our son was meeting us from school and had his boat on a trailer - and Jeff made certain we could park the boat in the parking garage and told me if we couldn't he would find a solution for us.  Robin got us two great rooms on the same floor that were perfect for our needs.  Will definitely stay here again.

Vey good location! Friendly staff.  The manager called me right after I got to my room to see if I needed anything. I had a large room (a luggage rack would have been nice).  Comfortable bed. The free wifi makes it a good business hotel. Like most hotels in the CBD, parking is very expensive.  The welcome cookies are a nice touch.

The breakfast was nothing special except for the waffle maker.  But hey, it's included in the rate. They have a managers meet and greet on Wednesday evening, however I didn't have a chance to attend.  Maybe next time.  It would be nice if there was a bar and restaurant in the building but there are plenty near by.

Bottom line: I would stay there again, but I'd try to park somewhere else!

    HORRIBLE...Couldn't Get the BASICS Right.

I stayed here for two horrendous nights during Mardi Gras weekend.  The hotel was unable to:
    - Provide room keys that worked until the 5th time they were issued
    - Provide bathroom access when I couldn't get into my room
    - Provide the WIFI they claim to have
    - Get the cot we requested into our room until 7 hours after checkin and two reminders
    - Include a "Do Not Disturb" sign for the room
    - Locate the TV remote that was supposed to be in our room
    - Respond to ANY complaints without a sharp or nonchalant attitude from the front desk (except for Todd who was professional and helpful)

On the other hand...the hotel is
    - In an ideal location, 1.5 blocks from Bourbon in the French Quarter
    - Has comfortable beds
    - Is clean
    - Is reasonably priced

I would stay here again if absolutely no other options were available, but there are too many friendly, organized B&B's and nice hotels in the area for this to happen.

Desk staff aren't very friendly, but the valets make up for the front desk demeanor.  As a HH Diamond member I have never received an upgrade at this hotel.  In fact, last time they put me in a room that faced a brick wall!!  The room prices are reasonable, but the parking pricing is a bit over the top.  Really like the room where breakfast is served and they do an exceptional job for a Hampton Inn.  On balance, this is a 3 1/2 star place.    Location is perfect if your headed to the Quarter (and who isn't?).

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! For starters, the front desk staff and the bellhops (??) went way above and beyond making us feel welcome.  They held our bags for us (for 5 hours!) until our room was ready and the check in couldn't have been any easier. Next, the room we got (on the top floor in the corner) was very large.  We've stayed in other hotels in the Quarter and none compare in size.  The room was very clean (no smoke smell), very updated and had a microwave, mini fridge and coffee station. Our room actually had a pretty decent view (looking out towards Canal a few blocks), but that's not a high priority when you only use your room to sleep in.  The hotel may have been under renovation, but we couldn't even tell.  The continental breakfast had more options that other places, but there are far better places to eat at in the Quarter.  The hotel is about 2 blocks off of Canal and sort of "turns-into" Bourbon street, which is very cool! The price per night was very reasonable considering the value we got - This hotel is definitely a contender for future trips!!

Location, location, location!  Come out the front door, turn right, and in two blocks Carondolet turns into Bourbon Street.  Staff is very friendly and helpful.  Great breakfast and clean rooms.  Nothing fancy or luxurious.  Could us an update but for what most are doing in NOLA it works just fine

Upon arrival, guest services were very helpful. The room was ok. It was pretty spacious but the bathrooms were dirty. They should really start renovating the hotel bathrooms in New Orleans. Ugh, so icky. I felt like I caught a disease using their toilet ): The tv doesn't have a guide channel so you have to flip through everyyy channel. It's not that bad since their cable doesn't offer much channels anyways.

However, this place is very close to CVS. I found it really convenient. I was sick so I bought a lot of medicine, toiletries, bottled drinks from here. This place is also close to the infamous Bourbon St.

They have complimentary breakfast. It's a pretty good selection. However, it's really repetitive. I had fun making my own waffles (:

When we checked out, I had to use the restroom. They told me I can use the one at the dining room. SO GROSS! Their toilet was broken and there was diarrhea all over it. I know New Orleans is trying to preserve history, but seriously.... Renovate your goddamn Inn! ATLEAST be more hygienic. Blegh blegh blegh. If I ever happen to be in New Orleans again, I'll shell out dinero to get a nicer hotel room for me and my boyfriend.

I stayed here for one night, and I wish I could have stayed longer.  The bed was super comfortable and the complimentary wifi worked well.  The complimentary breakfast was delicious (2 belgian waffle irons), although their fresh fruit sample was a little bruised.  The service staff was polite beyond comparison.
The room was medium sized, with windows all the way up to the ceiling.  I even had a small view of the city through the towers of other hotels nearby. I was bummed that there was no tub in the room, only a shower.
The hotel is located 2 blocks away from Canal Street,  on the same level as Bourbon Street.
For the nit-picky, there was a bright red stain on the carpet in the room, most likely caused by a previous occupant spilling a slushy or gatorade.
For the price (relatively low compared to other hotels this close to the French Quarter) to  I would stay here again.

Great location; very nice rooms and sweet staff. The only change I would suggest is the way breakfast is set up- move the toaster and waffle iron out of the main buffet line, it creates a huge traffic jam. If it was on a separate table, the line would flow much better.

    Upside:
2 blocks from Bourbon and Canal.
Easy walking distance to the entire Quarter and canal
Trolley to the Garden District Right out front
    Pleasant staff
    good sized room
    nice rate
sweet breakfast buffet (Hello, waffle maker!)

    not so upside:
clearly an older property (talking to you, shower)
our room looked out on a brick wall
loud, frisky neighbors (NOLA is not an earthquake zone)

I'd stay there again, mostly because we didn't plan to spend much time in our hotel room (and didn't!).

This was a great hotel, going through some renovations while we were there.  The staff were friendly, gracious and helpful.  We were upgraded to a suite that was wonderful, spacious, and quiet.  The breakfast was tasty and well-stocked.  The price, for a weeknight, in August was reasonable, but the parking costs and the tipping for bellboys and valets takes this to the "pricey" range, even when I had a great deal.  We liked that it was close to the French Quarter, and yet quiet and safe feeling.

Difficult to review this one because you want to give a better rating but cannot. The rooms in this place are awesome. Nicely done and very spacious. Noticed the bathrooms didn't seem to get quite the same attention. Tub was old and cracked. The lobby and common areas need work soon. Them alone might drive somebody to never even see a room. The staff was all great though. So all in all a good place to stay.

Had my reception at Hampton Inn on Convention Center Blvd.
For my wedding reception it was very important for me to have a historic site. Unfortunately most historic sites are very how shall we say cozy?
Not much room to dance or maneuver. Also many historic sites have overly inflated prices. That is what makes Hampton such a gem. The current Hampton was originally a mill in the early 1900s. The bottom floor still has the wood floors.
There is also alot of space and you get a lot of bang for your buck. There was a grand ballroom for our eight piece band with enough space for up to 300 people.
The staff- Amanda Baker along with Meg from Chef Joel's  will go out of their way to make your day special. Oh and I received so many compliments on the food. I had special Irish Scottish food requests and it was delish.
The bride and groom also get a very luscious free honeymoon suite the night of the event.
The only real down side is the hotel parking. I think special event parking was 10 or 12 dollars for four hours. If you are young and broke it might be best to park on the street and hoof it.-At least people such as the photographer, florists and baker get a parking pass and are not charged.

Great location  - 2 min walk to the French Qtrs, but not right in the middle so you can still sleep at night! It's also super close to the CVS on Canal St (in case you forgot your toothbrush!)

Pretty good service, and love the complimentary breakfast for all guests.

The only downside - there's no parking... well, there's valet, but who wants to pay for valet parking...

Slightly updated older building in a great location.  Walk out the front door turn right walk 2 blocks and your at the entrance to Bourbon which was convenient and somewhat safe if your walking around at night.

My room was right by the breakfast eating area and was not loud at all.  It was 1 1/2 the size of regular hotel rooms.  I had a king bed, desk/chair, sofa, large TV(not flat screen), and separate washroom.  Very nice for an 11 night business stay.

Staff from front desk, housekeeping, and valet were all very attentive and welcoming.

I have only great things to say about this hotel!!! I just came back from my trip to New Orleans for a friend's birthday.  The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful.  Our room was clean and comfortable.  The entire hotel was also very clean.  During the week, the hotel provides guests with free breakfast and not just coffee and a few pastries, but an actual buffet!  The hotel is also in a great location, near restaurants, shops, including a CVS, the French Quarter and of course Bourbon Street!!! I would definitely stay here again and recommend the Hampton Inn - Downtown to any of my family and friends who decide to visit New Orleans!!! :)

We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again!!! We took advantage of their park and stay rate which was $160 plus tax. The property is located only a couple minutes from the entrance to Bourbon street.

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful at all times. Our room was very clean, bed was comfortable, had a big flat screen tv, mini fridge and safe.

The free breakfast is really good and includes cereals, fruit, pastries, waffles, eggs, bacon, biscuits, toast, bagels and english muffins. The breakfast area is very large.

Had a terrible parking experience at this hotel. Was towing a small uhaul and called ahead of time to see if they could accommodate. The guy said yes and told me parking would be 30/night. Upon arrival I was informed it would be double because the car would take two spots. I had no other option at that point. At check out I called down 15 minutes ahead like they recommend. 40 minutes of waiting later (and after hearing new request come in and cars showing up) I asked for a status. Bryan, the bellhop and only helpful employee, said the valet had picked up my keys. He asked the valet guy who told him he wasn't going to drive the car around and asked the bellhop to take us to the car. So now I'm paying double for a service that I didn't receive. Better yet, when I got to the garage my car wasn't even in the two spots I was paying for, it was up against a wall. Breakfast was standard and rooms were ok except the shower head was broken. I stayed at the hilton garden inn on a previous trip half a block away and would recommend that hotel over this one any day. I have stayed at many hilton brands and am I Diamond member. Would never suggest this hotel to a friend. Management has contacted me regarding this incident after I contacted the Hilton customer service department. They have resolved some of the monetary discrepancies.

Great location, reasonably priced, but parking is $30/night. Rooms are nice and roomy but lack views.  Hotel itself is going through some reno, will be nice when it's done.  The best thing about this hotel is the location, 1 block off of Canal and Bourbon, but still quiet.

Housekeeping staff threw out my wife's new shoes that were kept in a bag, I'm assuming as they were near the trash bin in the room.  But the manager was nice enough to send us a check for the price of the shoe afterwards.

First thing to note: you can self-park in the same lot near the hotel that the valet uses for significantly cheaper.

We were lucky enough to get a junior king suite on the newly remodeled 3rd floor.  Wow, was it ever huge and beautiful!  As frequent travelers, and loyal Hilton guests, we both remarked that this was the nicest Hampton Inn we've ever stayed in. Everything about it was just wonderful.

We skipped the free breakfast in the hotel after checking it out and noticing that it was not only very picked over, but also just looked really bad.  There are too many great places to eat in the neighborhood to waste a meal on that free breakfast.

Great hotel, great location. A member of the staff told me that they have only renovated the 2nd and 3rd floors so far, so I'm not sure what the other rooms are like.

Under renovation and the fire alarm went off while we were there (had to walk down from the 10th floor), but other than that, I enjoyed my stay here. The concierge who booked us got us a great deal on parking (still had to pay though, but that's pretty standard in downtown). My parents and sister arrived after a loooong overnight drive at 11, and he made sure that a room was ready early for them. Our room was very spacious and clean.

The bellboys were also great. They were friendly, fun to talk to, and prompt.

The French Quarter and Canal Street are a short walk away, but there were some homeless guys hanging around a block away. They were mostly harmless, although one followed my little sister and me around for a bit.

We were on the top floor - 14th. Large, spacious, clean rooms. I would definitely return and stay here again.

I liked that you needed to use the room key to use the elevators and to get through the front doors after 11pm. It was a more secure feeling.

Breakfast was pretty good, loved the waffle maker!

Also, free computer/printer access dedicated to printing boarding passes. Very handy!

Free room wifi, and front desk called to make sure we were happy with our room a couple hours after we checked in.

The door attendant was helpful too.. holding our bags in a closet while we went to a museum.. and hailing a cab in the rain for us.

Price was good too. Highly recommended!

First time at this property. WOW! The staff was outstanding.  They were very accommodating and helpful.  We asked for a roll-away and it showed up within minutes.  We requested some extra towels and again they arrived in minutes. The room was large and very clean.  Plenty of room for the whole crew.  The complimentary breakfast was fresh and very nice.  The kid's love the bagel toppers.  We would definitely consider this property for our next NOLA stay.

Very nice hotel! Easy check in. Valet helped us with our bags to our room and was very pleasant. We stayed on the 5th floor and our room was lovely. Loved the high ceilings and coziness of the room. Very quiet! We had neighbors all around us and never heard any of them. Love that Bourbon street is literally a block away! Everything we wanted to see and eat was within walking distance.

Valet was extremely quick in getting us our vehicle!

The breakfast area is awesome! Lots of variety and they always had biscuits with gravy and eggs.

Free internet and we were able to print out our boarding pass to our cruise in their office area.

They are also connected to a little mall area that has a ups store which was so convenient when we had to an important document while vacationing. They also have food, clothing and hair salon available in there as well as within the same building.

Wasn't too crazy about using our room key card every time you went in the elevator. And our key stopped working in one of the elevators during our stay. Kind of a pain but overall a great hotel that I would stay in again!

We have stayed at numerous hotels in the French Quarter and CBD over the years.  This property handed the check-in process quickly and then checked with us soon after occupying the room to make sure all was well.

The room was clean with all amenities fully functional. Many hotels in or near the Quarter tend to be very noisy, but that was not the case here.  Our room was on the 11th floor, which certainly helps, but when we retired for the night, it was quiet and relaxing.  The breakfast offering was typical of Hampton's and did not disappoint.  Lastly we asked for, and received, a late checkout as our flight was in the early afternoon and we wanted to spend a little more time in the French Market with our bags secure.  The staff was very willing to honor our request.

We would certainly stay here again.

Stayed at this Hampton to visit the French Quarter.  Great location, less than a block away.  The room & bathroom was average size, but pretty complete.  This Hampton has a microwave & refrigerator.  Free Internet.  Keyed access to the elevator, and to the lobby after dark.  Lots of outlets for my electronics.  Good and expansive breakfast.  Parking is one of the few drawbacks- no self parking and valet is $29.75 per day.  Enjoyable and someplace to consider the next time I visit New Orleans.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in New Orleans, LA (226 Carondelet St.) for two nights (1/20/2013 and 1/21/2013).  It was my first time there.  In fact it was only my second time in Louisiana (the other being in 1988) and the first time I spent the night in New Orleans.  The place was great.  Nice staff and a wonderful location to see the city.  Plus, I took photos.

My go-to hotel in New Orleans.  Convenient to the Quarter and CBD.

Over several stays, rooms have all been well-equipped (decent iron, fridge, etc), and ranged in size from very large to huge.  Housekeeping has been consistently good.  All in all, no disappointments or surprises in the room.

Special thanks to the front desk for accommodating a request for a room during a busy convention week.  Service up front has always been cheerful and welcoming.  If you're Hilton Gold, complementary gummy bears at check-in!

I made a reservation here months before my stay but a mistake was made and I didn't have a room when I got there. It was a busy weekend so the hotel was all booked up. I understand mistakes happen but I recieved no customer service help from a manager or anyone. The people at the front desk really just wanted me out of there so I wouldn't complain to other customers. I just wanted a sorry or maybe could of stayed at one of their different locations nearby. The lack of customer service makes me never to want to stay at a Hampton Inn.

I was absolutely astonished by the quality, and value of this hotel.  It's five star good, and three star prices.

My first amazement was the size and quality of the room.  Our room was big, spacious, and well-planned.  It was very neat, clean, and especially comfortable.  I loved it!  I've paid more to stay in places that weren't half as nice.  I won't do that again.

My second surprise was the quality of the "included" breakfast.  A lot of place have breakfast, but you'll find the breakfast area dirty, out of a lot of things, and way too noisy.  That doesn't happen here.  They do a great job of keeping things rolling so that any time you come for breakfast, you'll find food, you'll find beverages, and, most importantly, you'll find a place to sit.  They hire conscientious help to keep things rolling, and that staff kicks "A."

My third amazement was the outstanding security.  You have to use your key to go to other floor except the ground floor, and you have to use your key in the elevator just to get to your room.  That keeps the riff raff out of the hotel.  Another layer of security requires guests to use their key cards just to enter the building after 11:00 p.m.  I LOVE THIS!

I was also very, very pleased with all of the staff we encountered.  All were very friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, helpful, and clean.  THIS is the way hotel should be done, but it's not usually done this way for cheapskates like me.  The service was comparable to what we experienced at the Omni Parker House in Boston, but at about 1/3 the price, with larger rooms, and the included breakfast.

The hotel itself is only two blocks from Canal Street, and, since we like to walk anyway, I do not mind walking two extra blocks for all this value.  And, of course, it's on Carondolet which is the European side of Bourbon Street in the quarter, so you are, essentially, on Bourbon street, just not the "noisy," obnoxious part.  Another benefit is "Daisy Dukes" is right across the street with good, quality Po-Boys available 24/7.  You can also get breakfast there, or just about anything 24/7.  This may be the best kept secret in the Quarter, but now the cat is out of the bag, and well it should be.  Take advantage of this place, and you may never stay any place ever again.  If you see me down there, you can thank me.

Stayed here 4 nights on our first visit into NO.

This hotel is about 2 blocks away from the french quarter and has good access to nearby convenience and drug stores.

Being 2 blocks from Canal, you are able to walk into FQ really easily, but not get all of the noise that comes with late night partying.

    The morning breakfast is excellent.

The housekeeping staff failed to clean our room 1 night, and overall I felt the front desk could have been a bit nicer. They show off a 4 star Trip Advisor rating, but I feel that with a few changes, they could be a 5 star.

I guess 4 star is just where they want to be.

They are so helpful when it comes to food restaurants. They even gave my daughter a basket of goodies for her birthday and a card!  She was so excited!. They also always try their hardest to make sure you are comfortable. I love them!
In a word, they are awesome!  Service of a full fledged Hilton at Hampton rates.

Great location and close to Canal and Bourbon St.  First time staying here and will def consider staying here again on my next visit to NOLA.  Room was ready when I arrived and was very impressed that the hotel was able to accommodate my requests, with the exception of my late check-out request.  Thank you for the connecting rooms!

Breakfast in the morning was great!

Valet parking is the only option, so get ready to spend $30 plus tax.  WIFI connection was weak at times.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NOLA, without hesitation!!

Location - Fabulous. It's about 2 blocks from the French Quarter. The street literally turns into Bourbon Street once you cross Canal. It's just close enough to all the craziness and works out especially well i you enjoy a nice walk. You're about a half mile from Jackson Square.

Staff - everyone from the bell hop to the valet to the front desk staff were outstanding! Friendly staff was more than willing to help book us tours, offer restaurant suggestions, etc.

The hotel itself was nice and clean. We stayed in a suite and it's a shame we didn't get to spend more time in the room because it was awesome!

Overall 5-star experience at the Hampton...can't wait to return!!

Great hotel in the heart of The Big Easy! Walkable distance to Bourbon Street if dat's yer thang.

Was impressed w/the double glass door entry as well as wide-open Lobby. Everyone was soo friendly and accommodating.

Room was impeccable and couldn't have been any better. Was rather large and had updated linens/furnishings.

Comp breakfast was spectacular as well - pretty much anything you wanted!

**NOTE: In the mood for a local dive bar? Hit up Dominic's across the street. ;)

The room was very spacious and the aesthetics was nice. The air conditioning is very quiet, which is good for some, but not for those that sleep with a fan.

The customer service was great, but the valet parking was $28/day. You don't have many parking options, you are stuck with that option.

The location is in the center of everything, so all of the attractions are within walking distance.

They offer a free continental breakfast, but the fruit wasn't the best. However, they have a nice variety so you are able to get the whole family full. I loved the oatmeal, personally.

    Overall, I'd recommend this location.

    This Hampton is really nice.

The room was really nice - junior suite.  Very well appointed with lots of room.

The breakfast room is very large and selection/service is a notch higher/better than average for a Hampton,

The elevators are like 100 years old, but they have security so that you'll need your room key to select your floor.

Location is superb - park your car, and walk to French Quarters - 1 block away.  The street it is on will turn into Bourbon Street in 1 block.  The trolley car goes right past the front door with a stop very very close.

    An excellent choice for hotel.

    An okay hotel.

Cons: Our room was in the northeast corner every morning (we were there for about a week) around 6am I would be woken up by a truck backing up. Our TP holder would not stay attached to the wall and it took several calls to the front desk to get maintenance up to fix it. A friend had a clogged bathtub drain and it was only partially cleared by the end of the trip.

Pros: Location and breakfast, aside from issues above, hotel room was clean

Great location right on the streetcar line and one block from Canal Street. Lots of walkable restaurants and shops.

Room was surprisingly large. Everything was very clean every day.

I used the free fitness center four times. Clean and fully working equipment, lots of clean towels.

Easy to connect WIFI. Worked 100% of the time.

Included breakfast was fine and in line with most hotel free breakfasts. Good variety and some healthy choices. Breakfast staff very visible and keeping things well stocked.

    Can easily recommend this property.
