I've stayed at many Hampton Inns for both business and personal travel.  Unfortunately, this Hampton Inn did not fully measure up to my usual expectations.  The service was friendly, helpful, and prompt, so no complaints there.  My issues specifically had to do with the room I was given.

First off, my room had two double beds, but these had to be the smallest double beds I have ever seen.  I don't see how two normal sized people could possibly fit on one.  Second, the room had a slight musty/mildewy odor.  I noticed several hours after check-in that the odor may be due to the fact that the carpet in my room was slightly damp in a few spots, especially closer to the air conditioning unit beneath the window.  I tried to keep on my shoes most of the time while in the room, but my white socks were filthy on the bottom after crossing the room only a few times.

Considering the price of this Hampton Inn was a little higher than I typically pay for similar accomodations in the Hilton chain, I really doubt if I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Elmwood Hampton Hotel and Suites from May 15 through May 21. We had blocked rooms for our daughter's wedding. Our experience was truly excellent from the time we arranged the booking through checkout for us and all out guests. The housekeeping and maintenance crews were especially wonderful and helpful as we made a huge mess arranging flowers and using our suite as a hair and makeup salon. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has occassion to be in the Harahan/Elmwood area.

This place is fairly nice. They are in the center of home life and further away from party life in New Orleans Louisiana. This hotel has decent beds and feather pillows. The shower is amazing because it has an awesome shower head with many setting. The staff is very friendly and everything is clean. The free breakfast is much better than I expected. They have hot stuff (eggs sausage, waffles made to order) they also have cereal, grits, oatmeal, and yogurt with fruit! Will definitely be back!

Definitely functional and not fancy.  This Hampton Inn is a little worn and dated and can use some updating both in the rooms and in the hallways & common areas. But it is generally familiar (same linens, same free coffee & tea, same shampoo/condition/lotion trio in the bathroom, same free breakfast) with the amenities of all Hampton Inns.

My room on the 1st floor was very noisy, as it was overlooking the hotel parking lot where there were lots of cars coming and going.  Yeah, pick-up truck with lights shining in my window and blaring rock music for 15 straight minutes...I'm talking to you.

Located in a semi-industrial/business park area with some restaurants around (I stayed here b/c it's close to one of my company's offices.)- very convenient for my purposes but not really where you want to stay if you want to see the city and the French Quarter.  There were a group of sheriffs/policemen sitting the lobby, taking advantage of the free coffee, so I felt very safe.

the checkin process was fast and friendly. the room was clean and shower area no mold. really liked the room. the checkin person called if everything was ok with the room which was very nice of her.
airco was a little noisy so that screwed up my sleep a little. the bed and pillows were soft and no problems at all.
breakfast was great. really liked the omelette. expected way less but it was really good.

Traveling to New Orleans for a funeral, I blocked a group of 10 rooms for our family.  The managers, Jennifer P. and Amy L., were OUTSTANDING!!! We had a problem with the reservation, and they took care of it and made sure the process was seamless for my family members.  The rooms were great, the staff friendly, and the food was good too! It's about 10 minutes from the Quarter, but it is near shopping and restaurants. If your looking for a good clean hotel, with great service for family, and probably corporate groups, this is the one!

Other than the lady at front desk telling us our room wasn't ready at 2:55pm when check-in is at 3pm without an explanation...it's prob a decent hotel. I asked her if it would be ready in 5 mins. Which would be the reg. check in time and she looked puzzled add I forced her into giving me a time which she said would be 30 mins. Okay our room is ready at 3:30pm gotta go!

We were recently in town for 2 nights. After a bad experience, see below,  I thought I would give it another try. Again, the lobby and breakfast area looked very clean and comfortable. Wrong again. First, we had barely luke warm water to shower. They said they had a problem but it was fixed. I did not want the maintenance man to come in, it was late and we were tired but I succumbed. He gave excuses and I kept saying that the problem had to be the boiler, not the faucet. Next, I noticed that the carpet looked very dirty. I wet a face rag and wipe it. There was so much dirt it was disgusting. I did the same on the tile floor in the bathroom because my shoes were sticking (I NEVER go bare feet in hotel rooms) again, the floor was filthy! The morning we left, we got a knock on the door at 8AM from housekeeping!!

We also stayed here when we got married in New Orleans for a short stay and booked rooms for our relatives. I thought it looked clean and it is very convenient to the airport and restaurants. That night, 2 bus loads of high band members stayed and it was a nightmare and extremely embarrassing that we brought family to stay here. It was noisy and kids were all over on the floors of the hallway. We were told they couldn't do anything about it.

I will never stay here again and have my doubts about Hilton and Hampton Inns now. I DO NOT recommend this place.

I am a Hilton Honors and only stay at Hamptons.  This one had great service and and clean as expected.  The breakfast is the main reason I stay at the Hamptons so my rating is on just this portio.  6am, I am always the first guy in line.  The food in the warmer was cold, sausage was still frozen in the center.  It was like the cook didnt even check the food she was serving to make sure it was hot.

I was in town scouting out places to live, and this hotel more or less got the job done.   Here's a breakdown:

    -Room was clean & tidy.

-Free Parking.  Everywhere in downtown NOLA charges for parking, usually around $30-$40 a night!

-In Elmwood, so good collection of shops/restaurants nearby.

-Convenient to all of East Jefferson, West Jefferson, the airport, and Uptown New Orleans.

    -Free passes to Elmwood Fitness.

-Standard Hampton amenities: free internet, free breakfast, super comfy beds.

-not really the best place to stay if you're in town to experience NOLA-it's about 20 minutes to the French Quarter.

-Definitely a dated hotel.  The rooms look like they haven't been updated since the 90s.  Same with the bathrooms.  I stayed at the Hampton dtown on Carondelet a few weeks ago and that hotel felt much more modern.

-The 3rd floor hallway where I stayed to avoid road noise smelled heavily of smoke.  The room smelled fine but the hallway was disgusting.  The 3rd floor was clearly a smoking floor which has been converted-hence the reason why there aren't no smoking symbols on the room plates on the 3rd floor, but there are on the 1st.  They really need to spend the $$$ to clean those hallways.

-they impose an hourly limit on their gym passes and charge you a fee if you don't return it within that time period.

All in all, not a bad spot and the price was right so I can't complain too much.  If the price is competitive, Id stay here again, otherwise, I'll try giving another hotel in the area a shot.

Great job on the remodel! It feels like a 4 star hotel with a cozy atmosphere .  Would defiantly stay here again.
