Established in 1998.
The HH Whitney House was established in January of 1998 when Glen Miller and Randall Saizan moved into their new home at 1923 Esplanade Avenue, just 8 blocks from the New Orleans French Quarter.
Originally intended to provide supplemental income to Glen's salary as a Computer Systems Analyst and Randy's career in Insurance Sales, the B&B became a full-time pursuit immediately when Glen's employer was bought out by a a national company.
The first three and a half years were solid growth years, but business was seriously curtailed following the terrorist attacks in September 2001. In 2005, just as business was rebounding to pre-9/11 levels, Hurricane Katrina struck and the failure of the Federal levees inundated the city of New Orleans for several weeks.
Glen & Randy were among the first New Orleanians to return following the storm. Those days are a foggy, surreal memory, but lots of blood, sweat and tears were involved and the HH Whitney House is now better than ever. Come visit!

I had another great stay here last week. I was originally booked into the Bride's Room but was moved to the Scarlett O'Hara room near the back stairs and it meant having a private bathroom instead of a shared one. However, it also means going downstairs to use it. Fortunately my knees aren't so creaky that it's difficult but the stairs are rather steep. The room is comfortable but doesn't have a table for laptop use unless you count the nightstand by the bed. Staying in a room surrounded by images of Vivian Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara, I couldn't help but think of her making a dress out of curtains every time I looked at the windows.
During my stay, I made extensive use of the 91 bus that runs on Espanade as a starting point for exploring the city because walking to the French Quarter may be good exercise but is also tiring and time-consuming if you do it a few times a day. I always meet nice people staying here and often they are repeat HH Whitney guests. We often discuss New Orleans activities and restaurants over breakfast and it's fun sharing ideas with other guests.
Glen is always friendly and gracious so it makes every stay pleasant. I only wish the weather had been warmer during my stay as it would have been good to try the hot tub if it weren't too cold to want to walk outside from the back door and back to the hot tub.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at the HH Whitney House this last weekend. We were lucky to reserve the Garden Suite upstairs at the rear of the house. The room included a private in-room bathroom with shower, dressing area, and an awesome balcony with a couple of sitting areas over looking the pool and hot tub. And yes, we took advantage of the hot-tub on our first night and after spending the evening in the Garden District. The room included all your standard amenities like cable and internet access.
The house was beautifully decorated with period antiques and had a fabulous living room salon and dining room. The Dining room was the focal point as the friendly and caring inn keeper, Glen Miller, prepared excellent hot breakfasts every morning.
The location was perfect. The next morning we walk about 8 blocks to the edge of the French Quarter where we spent the afternoon. During the evening we took taxis to the Garden District on Friday night, and to Frenchmen St on Saturday night. In the Garden district, we had dinner at Commander's Palace, drinks at the Columns Hotel, then walked to the Delachaise Wine Bar a couple of blocks down the street. At the Delachaise Wine Bar we sat outside on the patio and were entertained by the trolleys on St. Charles Ave.
Saturday Night we had dinner at Snug Harbor on Frenchmen St., danced at Bamboules at couple of doors down, then walked to Bourban street for a nightcap. What happenes in New Orleans, stays in New Orleans! :~)
We would definitely stay here again.

I don't think I have enough characters to describe our wonderful experience at the HH Whitney!!!!
Upon arrival...Glenn (The owner) ensured we arrived safely and was there to greet us with big hugs as soon as our taxi arrived at the house. Once we got inside the HH Whitney, Glen then gave us a nice warm welcome tour and showed us our room. We stayed in the Scarlet O'Hara Room which was absolutely perfect for my boyfriend and I. The ambiance, the bedding, sheets, entire room was perfect and so comfy!
After we were settled in our room, Glen then calls us downstairs and he has an entire map of locations, nearest restaurants, great site-seeing places, etc. all for us! We were so overwhelmed with his kindness and graciousness! During our stay, we had an amazing breakfast every single morning that we shared with other guests of the house. We were so grateful with our stay because we met lifetime friends in which we are visiting in the spring!
Randy (Other House Owner) made the BESTTTT Gumbo and banana pudding I've ever had in my life (make sure you ask him to make you some) :-) This stay was beyond magical, from being 5 minutes away from French Quarter/Bourbon, the location was perfect and bad fares never exceeded $7! We highly recommend you staying at the HH Whitney for a different experience!
We can't wait to come back and visit! We miss you Randi-Amilla!

We've stayed at the HH Whitney House twice (3 years apart). Our first experience was magical. Glenn greeted us when we arrived, told us all about New Orleans, & presented us with a map that included several suggestions. We had such a great time, we invited a few friends back for our second experience. The house is about a 20 min walk to the French Quarter but we also had an easy time catching a cab right in front of the house or crossing the street for the bus. We've stayed in the Scarlet O'Hara Room and the Grooms Room. We enjoyed both though we found the Scarlet O'Hara room to be a little more private (the Groom's Room has a connecting pocket door to the Bride's Room). The house is quiet & comfortable too. Glen & his staff also made special accommodations for our diets for breakfasts. We hope to be back soon!
