The location was pretty convenient and the area isn't as sketchy as it first appears to be, BUT I stayed at a time when the rooms were all filed with tourists and not regulars.
The room smelled of cigarette smoke and The Windows couldn't be opened and had bars on them so we had to Fabreeze the heck out of them. We were afraid to touch anything so we went to Wal-Mart and got cleaning supplies to wipe down all of the surfaces including the sinks and shower. The furniture was really dusty and wiping everything helped with the smell. We got blankets to put on the bed because the sheets didn't look clean. Neither the sheets not towels were white. Our feet never touched the floor (we sprayed the carpet to help the smell) and we kept the room FREEZING and dark because roaches were everywhere outside. I know it's the south, but it was awful! I couldn't have tried to eat in the room if I wanted to.
Breakfast was a basic continental breakfast. Although they could have left the snack cakes in their original package. I can't say much though because I was only able to eat the fruit provided for health reasons, but fresh fruit is always a plus!
The staff was super friendly! I loved them. They were extremely helpful and friendly. I feel confident that they will continue to strive to improve their establishment. The bathroom was recently remodeled and really nice and the room was very big. You get what you pay for and it was a last resort. Is stay there again if I had to... maybe.

My husband and I stayed here as we were road-tripping across the country. We ended up staying here because the whole town was booked up for a Saints game. Thank goodness we found this place! I admit it looks a little sketchy (I thought that at first) but it's actually really safe. Our car was loaded to the brim with all our personal belongings and we never hesitated to leave it like that all day long as we went exploring the town. The owner, Lee and his wife Hui, we absolutely accommodating and even gave us a special rate when they found out I had fallen ill and had to stay in the room the entire day (when we had planned to explore the city).
I can't recommend this place enough and don't look at the room pictures on here because everything has been updated now.
