Established in 1996.

After being stationed overseas working in the Space Industry for 12  years, I decided that it was time to come home. My cousin was doing B&B at the time and I was quite intriqued . Since I wouldn't be traveling any longer, at least the travel would come to me andI would still learn of far away places. I departed the USNS Observation Island in Cape Town, flew back to San Diego and drove my little VW bug home with the top down all the way dreaming about what i was going to eat when I got home!

Southern Comfort is a wonderful old home with three beautiful rooms in the Uptown area (near St. Charles) of New Orleans. It has been a haven for our visits with our son at Tulane. Although there are countless amazing places to eat in New Orleans, I believe one of the best is right at Southern Comfort. Cindee is an amazing cook - from her praline bacon to homemade cajun sausage. She always has a cold Abita or nice wine available for an afternoon refreshment. And, if you need any ideas, suggestions of places to go - she is a WEALTH of knowledge. A true New Orleans experience!

I wouldn't change a thing.

We arrived dirty and sweaty from two days in the hot sun, working as volunteer house builders. Cyndee, the owner, greeted us on the porch and offered us a glass of wine. She gave us just as much information as we wanted to know about what to do and see, and our experiences lived up to her recommendations. The house was immaculate and the rooms well kept. Aesthetically, the rooms were classy without being pretentious and the breakfast was superb. The house is stately, yet welcoming, and you feel free to walk around, put your leftovers in the fridge, or help yourself to a cold drink with an honor-system contribution. Located in a very nice neighborhood with ample parking, yet only 2 blocks from the Charles Ave trolley.

Cindee is running a very beautiful, charming place with a very welcoming touch. I felt very welcomed to the city and really appreciated Cindee's help in planning my itinerary. Excellent location. Charming and historic neighborhood. Much better value than a downtown hotel.

We stayed with Cindee at Southern Comfort for two nights and had a fabulous time.  The B&B is very comfortable and Cindee couldn't be more welcoming and helpful.  The tips she gave us for where to go and how to get around were invaluable.  We thoroughly recommend Southern Comfort to anyone planning a trip to New Orleans.

The Good:
:: the location. it's in the garden district and is only a block and a half away from the st charles streetcar stop
:: it's only a block away from st charles street, a major thoroughfare through new orleans
:: cyndee the owner. she is a very sweet woman and was very accomodating to our late arrival and late checkout needs. she was also very informative and a great resource
:: the place was kept up well. our room was very clean and cozy. the bathroom was clean and had very cute fixtures. no problems with any appliances, fixtures, lights, appliances, etc.
:: very comfortable bed, pillows, and linens
:: ceiling fan was very powerful and kept the room very cool
:: cute courtyard with a cute pond
:: cute swing on the porch, southern-style
:: didn't smell like cat pee like some bed-and-breakfast places can smell. bonus!

The Bad:
:: breakfast was good but was hoping for more options. maybe if she could change it so that she took our breakfast orders the night before so she knew what to make, instead of the same thing for everyone?
:: main area of the house was a little warm at times but since it wasn't occupied much at all, this wasn't a big deal since we didn't spend much time in those areas

The Ugly:
 :: none.

Would I go back?  Sure!  This is a bed-and-breakfast that is a great choice if you are looking for a no-frills, cozy, basic arrangement with a very pleasant, accomodating owner.

This place is IN.

My boyfriend and I stayed with Southern Comfort during our 3 day get away to New Orleans.  When we arrived we found that we had been upgraded to the Horizon Room.  The room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable.  Throughout our stay Cindee was very helpful with information on where to eat the best local food and great sights to see.  It was a quick walk to the St Charles street car so, access to the French Quarter and Warehouse District was easy.  Great neighborhood, great host and let's not forget - great breakfasts!

Excellent place to stay...beautiful house.  Rooms are quiet, nicely decorated and very comfortable.  The breakfast was delicious and the location was perfect...only 2 blocks off St Charles.  Cindee is wonderful and even lent me her bike to ride to yoga!

My wife and I have stayed in New Orleans many times and this is the best stay we have enjoyed. It felt like we had our own place in the garden district. The facilites are fantastic and real New Orleans style not the tourist treatment you usually find. The hostess with the mostess Cindy was friendly and funny and very knowledgeable as far as food and fun places to try. Our good friends stayed there at the same time and equally enjoyed it as we did. Great breakfast and cordial atmoshere is so rare. Look forward to returning and having some more southern comfort !

The moment the cab drop us right at the footsteps of Southern Comfort B & B, our cab driver remarked excitedly, "Are you guys gonna be staying here? This is a good-looking house!" Of course, we couldn't wait to see what's inside. :)

Cindee, the lovely owner, met us on arrival and after we were settled in, sat us down in the kitchen where she briefed us with a map in hand and shared much information on the places we were planning to visit. They were particularly useful since it was our virgin trip to New Orleans. From where to go, how to go and where to eat! She has it all covered!

The Horizon room which we stayed in located towards the back of the house was very clean and peaceful. The Queen size four poster bed was immensely comfortable with amazingly soft and smooth sheets that I can't help but doze off within minutes. The bathroom was spacious and although it looked like it came from the 70s, my hot shower wasn't compromised in anyway. The citrus scented shampoos and soaps were lovely too.

The breakfast Cindee prepared was delightful and healthy. We had plain yoghurt topped with granola and berries, some raisin toast, followed by a spinach and cheese quiche with really tasty bacon. A guest who sat on my left ate only the raisin toast and I felt bad for him. Like the earlier reviewer mentioned, it'll be great if she could note down our breakfast preferences. I pictured Cindee to be chatting with us or sharing some interesting stories while we munch our breakfast but I guess she was too tied up in the kitchen.

On location, SCBB is located a few blocks off the Garden District area.  We appreciate the short, easy walk to take the street car on St. Charles Ave which takes you the Garden District, Arts District and the French Quarter. The wait time for street car which I have timed, is around 15min or less.

We had Cynthia, the driver that Cindee recommends, to take us to the airport and though she didn't give a hand with the bags/ luggage, we are definitely glad that she arrived early.

Although we stayed for just one night, saying goodbye to Cindee felt like saying goodbye to an aunt. Well, as they say, staying at B & Bs is akin to staying with your aunt/uncles- I guess it does really feel like one!

Was it the hospitality of our innkeeper, or the incredibly comfortable bedding, the tasteful decorating, the "over-the-top" delicious breakfasts that helped us to have such a wonderful stay in New Orleans??  Yes! all this and more!

If you're interested in comfort and charm, cleanliness, aromatic soaps and lotions, etc. - don't hesitate a moment to stay at this B&B.  We have stayed in many B&B's.  When the owner takes a personal interest in us as a couple - we are ...... impressed!

Thank you Cindy for introducing us to your little corner of the world and doing such a great job.  Your recommendations, directions, help, hospitality etc. earn you and A+.

We will be back and we'll suggest your place to our friends.  Thank you.

My husband and I loved our four day stay in New Orleans at the Southern Comfort B&B in November 2013. It's conveniently located near the St. Charles trolley route (only a block away) which is an inexpensive and reliable public transport. You definitely don't need a rental car.

This B&B is beautiful and quiet. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee was so good we bought a can to bring home. We had great conversations with other guests and the whole experience really felt more like visiting a friend's home than a vacation hotel stay. It was our first B&B experience and we enjoyed it thoroughly.

Owner Cindee Quick was extremely helpful in guiding us toward daily activities that we wanted to experience. She always took the time to share any resources she had to make our stay better. Highly recommended!

Southern Comfort is our new favorite place to stay in NOLA. Cindee is wonderful--a friendly, accommodating, and delightful lady who genuinely enjoys what she is doing and visiting with her guests to get to know them and help create satisfying visits to the Big Easy. Our room was clean, spacious, well appointed, and comfortable. Cindee prepared delicious breakfasts and made sure that she accounted for my various food allergies. The inn resides in a nice section of Uptown, convenient to streetcars, walking, and driving to a number of popular establishments. Go. Stay. You'll love it.

My best friend and I stayed with Cindee over a long weekend in October during the Blue's and BBQ Festival. Both of us had never been to New Orleans, and didn't know where to stay. We searched regular hotels, and motels, but with the rich history of NOLA, we wanted to stay somewhere with some more character. And by the grace of God we found the Southern Comfort Bed and Breakfast. Weeks of searching, and it was worth it. All the reviews online about this place were right, it's WONDERFUL. It really is like you're staying at your favorite Aunt's house. We got lucky and were able to park in front of the gorgeous home with no problems, and there was plenty of places to park. It was in what I thought to be a very safe area. Cindee greeted us right away, and let us get settled into to out cute, but pretty large room. It had a private bathroom, with everything you could possibly need. Once we dropped everything off, we sat with Cindee and she gave us a map and she marked on it where all the places we wanted to see were, and how to get there. The streetcar is just down and around the block, and it goes basically everywhere and comes on a regular basis. $3 for ALL DAY, and it includes buses.

Cindee works with you and all the guests on a good breakfast time for everyone, and she is VERY accommodating. My best friend is gluten intolerant, and Cindee didn't make her feel bad about it. All of the breakfasts were AMAZING!!!

Leaving NOLA was hard, but we plan on coming back. When we do come back, there's no other place I would even consider staying besides the Southern Comfort Bed and Breakfast. If you want a charming, and welcoming place to stay away (about 15 minutes on the streetcar) from the craziness of the French Quarter - you HAVE to go here.

My wife and I were looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay in NO.  I easily booked online and was promptly contacted by Cindee to ensure that she was able to cover all the details.
What a beautiful house! Cindee greeted us at the door and made sure everything was perfect. Great restaurants are only a walk away, and we rode the trolley down St. Charles for dinner at the French Quarter.
We enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in the dining room and coffee in the garden.
I certainly recommend a stay here. Ensuring the comfort of one's guests is the essence of southern hospitality.
