I stayed at the Homewood Suites during construction. I liked the fact I could walk to Walgreens and to a bakery in the morning. The hotel room was quite nice, the bed was small but comfortable. I enjoyed the fact I had a full size fridge.

VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING.  Nice staff.  POOR MANAGEMENT. Comfortable room.  The morning of my reservation, I received a call on my cell informing me that my reservation (booked weeks prior) was cancelled as they no longer had a room.  They booked a room for us down the road and offered to pay for it, to apologize.  While not optimal, we had no other choice.  Upon arrival at Hotel B, we were informed that there was no room for us there, either.  It was now 11:45 PM and my family needed a room.  Hotel B called Homewood, who somehow found a room for us.  We loaded the luggage back into the car and drove to the Homewood.  The extremely apologetic night staff at the Homewood was very kind; they'd known about this problem hours before and were under the impression I'd been contacted; I'd received no calls on my cell whatsoever.  The next morning, the staff told me the manager had reduced our rate by 50% and that she would call me that day.  Once again, no calls.  When we returned home, I called the manager to express our disappointment and frustration; I was informed that we'd been treated fairly and she felt good about the way things turned out for us.

I arrived at 11 p.m. and was out the door by 8 a.m., so I didn't linger.  This hotel was recently  converted from a Hawthorne Suites to a Homewood Suites.  It's clean and efficient.  It's not fancy, but it's in a great location, parking is free and you're close to everything.

Perfect for the business traveler or for a family.

I stayed her for two night and would recommend to families!
The rooms are new, big and can accommodate a larger group.  The bed was very comfy and the breakfast in the morning was ok.
The place is close to a T and there is a CVS less than a block away.
    The workout room was small.

Spent almost two weeks at this hotel.  Comfortable even though we stayed in the smallest suite. Having hot breakfast and week night dinners covered was a real saver when we needed it.  Laundromat in house was great and helped to keep our costs down.  Transit lines were close and only a few minutes to colleges in Cambridge.  And yes FREE parking.   Will be staying again.

My Mum, sisters, and I vacationed here for Father's Day weekend to honor my dad's passing last year.  In other words, this was our first Father's Day without him.

We were able to get a smoking room that was very much like a mini-apartment with it's mini-kitchen, big fridge, dishwasher, pots and pans, silverware in a drawer, glasses and plate ware, two pilot stove top and microwave.  There was even a colander in one of the kitchen drawers!  My only complaint about that set-up  was that there was no soap for washing dishes nor using the dishwasher.  Even a little liquid hand soap by the kitchen sink would have been nice.

There was a Sony, HD TV in both the living room and bedroom.  The TV in the living room had a DVD player on which we saw two DVDs that I brought (First Wives Club and Galaxy Quest).

The bathroom desperately needed a fan.  There seemed to be a vent for  a fan in the ceiling.  Perhaps it was supposed to go on when you turned on the light and wasn't working.

My sisters slept on the bed and said it was quite comfortable.  I slept on a cot/roll-away bed which was good.  My mother slept on the couch and said it was very comfortable.

There was an outside patio area with tables, chairs, and umbrellas on the tables to block sun if needed.  This was ideal for sitting in the sun or people watching.

All and all, it was a cozy room and was quiet both inside the hotel and outside.  We had a lovely time.  Dad would be proud.

We just spent a week at this hotel to attend a family funeral.  Having the suite set up made for a nicer place to stay during a tough week.  The hotel staff were very pleasant and welcoming.  We had just gotten into our room when the front desk called to make sure everything was good, and or request for some additional towels was promptly fulfilled.  The rooms are clean and modern.  Overall the hotel was bright warm clean and modern.  The breakfasts are very good and I would agree with other comments that the dinners are hit or miss.  But the hotel is very convenient between Cambridge and Arlington and a number of places to eat are close by.  We were there during a blizzard and deep freeze so it was not good for walking to these places, but in nicer weather, you could walk to some of the restaurants.  Big plus was the underground parking!  We didn't have to shovel our car out.  Other comments suggested the garage was small, it might be if you have a big suv but we managed fine.  Yes, the hotel is distant from downtown Boston, but if you are going to visit Tufts, Cambridge or surrounding towns, this is a good spot for the money.

I "lived" at the Homewood Suites on and off for a month & a half before I relocated out of the Boston area. This hotel was perfect for that purpose. My boyfriend worked north of the city and I worked in Cambridge- the location couldn't have been better for us. Because we were relocating around the holidays we checked in and out about 4 times- each time we had a different room. (The corner king suites on the second floor were the biggest!)

The Homewood Suites in Arlington costs a fraction of what the extended stay hotels in Cambridge cost and it has tons of extras - including free internet, free breakfast & free dinner Monday-Thurs. Free parking is rare in the area and the Homewood Suites has free GARAGE parking! The gym has new Precor cardio machines with attached TVs. I found the gym so convenient that I managed to not put on any holiday or moving stress weight! The kitchens are very nice with granite counters, dishwashers, stove, microwave and full fridge. We started leaving housekeeping notes NOT to run the dishwasher everyday because there would only be one or two glasses in it.

There is a CVS across the parking lot and some restaurants on Mass Ave within a 10 minute walk. The location works very well for getting into the city if you have a car. If not- there is a bus stop right out front that goes to Harvard Sq or you can walk a mile to Porter sq. I'd recommend the hotel for someone with a car or people who want lots of space & don't mind a longer trip on public transportation.

The only reason I am giving this a 3 is because of the very nice cleaning staff, and the cleanliness of the room. Otherwise, I am very disappointed in the experience for what we paid. The manager was rude when I had a questions, we waited 20 minutes in line to check in. Cleaning staff was sent to clean out our room before we  had checked out. The breakfast was extremely mediocre. Will not return.

I go up to the Boston area once a month for work, and I've stayed at this Homewood Suites for almost every trip (and stayed here a solid 2 weeks straight when I started the job). I keep coming back because the rooms have a pretty competitive rate, the staff is friendly, and the hotel is always very well maintained.

The building is very modern, so it doesn't really have a worn-in feel like some motels... it feels very new and clean. A lot of the rooms are almost like little apartments, with a living area, kitchen, and separate bedroom with a closing door. The closing door to the bedroom is wonderful at keeping out noise, but honestly I have never heard much, anyways. Many rooms come with fireplaces, but you pretty much don't need them because the building is so well insulated; I've never felt any drafts. The bathrooms are large, and there's a lot of hot water and plentiful towels. Every one of the beds I've slept in have been comfortable.

The front desk staff has always been very helpful and welcoming, and the free breakfast and dinner will save you money on multiple stays; the breakfasts especially are well prepared, but the dinners can be hit or miss. There's a convenience area for purchasing toiletries and snacks, and also a CVS just across the parking lot.

This hotel isn't very close to a T station (about a 20 minute walk to Davis Square), but the front desk attendant is always very happy to call you a taxi (less than $10 taxi ride to Davis Square).

All in all I'd recommend this place.

Stayed at the hotel last weekend and had a great stay.  There was a bar-b-cue dinner for the local chamber of commerce and hotel guests were invited.  The food was delicious and there was a fun trivia game!!  Breakfast is very high quality with fresh fruit and made to order waffles.  highly recommend this property!!

Found the management staff to be rude and disrespectful to their employee's.  Was very disappointed in the conversation that took place in the main dinning space.  When I sent my concerns to the GM she responded very defensively of her management staff.  She acknowledged no wrong doing, and in fact told me my perception of the conversation I witness was wrong. Extremely disappointed with the response and the way the staff was treated. Their staff work so hard to make sure they continue to get these great reviews you see.

The setup is similar to most Homewood Suites.   The parking garage is kind of tight for most cars.

The room was average with a black crack on the tub.

Breakfast was mediocre.  The scrambled eggs were bland and the oatmeal was also not very good, even after adding brown sugar, raisins, etc.

    Overall an OK hotel.

Amazing experience here. Wish the breakfast ran longer on weekends and the "hot" food was better quality, but still blows water off most hotel breakfasts. Also wish there was hot tub/pool, but the fitness center is open 24/7. Will be back for sure!!!

This hotel has just one major drawback, in that it is dated. The room felt safe and relatively comfortable, but a bit like stepping back a decade in decor and general feel. Clearly a value among other choices in the area, and I just didn't realize how pricey this ordinary suite-hotel turns out to be for what is offered.

We got a room on the top floor thinking we will get some kind of view. Our view was the wall next to us and a big tree. The room was spacious but the bed was too soft for us. When you check in and would like a cup of coffee/tea, you have to walk a-a-a-l-l-l-l-l-l-l the way behind the dinning room just to get a cup. I think they were hiding it from the guest. Breakfast was sub-par by Homewood Suite standard. Extremely disappointing!
On the plus side: parking is free.

Great hotel with big suites that are nicely done. It's a typical Homewood Suites with all the usual amenities. Another big plus is the free covered parking.

The only real downside is that you either need to take a bus or cab to get to the T. Other than that this a one of the nicer hotel choices in the area.
