Stayed here on 12/13/14. Did not stay here before the dropping of the "fairmont" tag. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Rooms were gorgeous, well kept. Bathroom was the highlight and justified the price tag alone. I would stay here again at this price point. Can imagine during the nicer summer weather the setting is ideal. However the only reason I cannot go five stars is because: there was no shampoo in the bathroom for my girlfriend, and when we requested the same from the front desk it took about half an hour to deliver. Secondly, the front desk asked at check in if I wanted the Sunday Times for the morning - I said yes. Then it was never delivered. Not a huge deal, but these are the details that distinguish. Either way, great price point and worth a try.

This review is specifically for AFTERNOON TEA at the Battery Lounge. Afternoon Tea is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 to 4:30. I had a Gilt City voucher for Holiday Tea for Two. The lounge is clean, well lit and of a comfortable temperature. The waiter was helpful and friendly. My companion has a shellfish allergy, which they were happy to accommodate (when I made the reservation it was one of the first questions I was asked by the hostess). On that note- there was a large table next to us with several different food allergies and likes/dislikes. They were happy to accommodate AND a chef came out to speak to the table about the allergies so that the meal could be tailored to their requirements. The tea was delicious (I had Earl Grey, my sister had Darjeeling). Tea came out in small French Presses which were refilled regularly (you can change teas if you like). The scones, sandwiches and small sweets were fresh and delicious and the portions were perfect to leave us satiated but not uncomfortable. The Devonshire Cream was perfect. The atmosphere was relaxed and casual. The only not perfect part of the whole trip was the table being just a bit too low (had to keep positioning my legs to the right or left). The couches/chairs are very comfortable. We would definitely go here for tea again even if paying full price.

Stayed here for a long bachelorette weekend with my friends and the hotel was beautiful, the rooms were clean with nice amenities. To the other girls who knew the cost, they expected the room to be a bit bigger than it was for a suite. We got a nice view of the water. There is a charge for the wifi that they don't tell you about until you ask, which they made complimentary. We arrived to the room with fresh fruit waiting and bottled water, which there was also a charge for- however once we asked they made it complementary. There was a charge for parking which I was surprised since we were hotel guests, not sure if that's typical for Boston or not. There was no complementary breakfast unfortunately, only with certain room specials. I ordered room service for the next morning to have mimosas delivered to the room, they didn't show up. However were very apologetic and ended up sending them the next morning complementary, so they made right on it. Overall, it was a really nice and clean hotel. They have a late night smores station outside that looked cool, we didn't get a chance to check it out though.

My girlfriend and I stayed here when we got back from a year in Iraq & yes, we paid full price $400+.  Great building & location, AWFUL front desk.  Saying they're rude would be the understatement of the year.  We checked in a whopping one hour early and the Jersey Shore look-alike girl @ the desk snarled "You're lucky we're letting you check in this early".  Then when I called up to the front desk to tell them the Keurig in the room was broken, that same girl said "well, that happens sometimes"  then hung up the phone (and it never got fixed/replaced).  The view and the building is excellent, but they seriously need to do a house cleaning on some of the staff & take out the trash.

Review for Afternoon Tea:

Had a lovely experience with my mother! Our server was very nice, and we sat on the high tables right next to the windows. All the little nibbles we got were excellent, and they had a really nice tea selection here too. The whole ambiance in their pretty lounge was very relaxed, slow-paced, and elegant - exactly how afternoon tea should be!! I've done quite a few during my time in England, so I was relieved to know that this was a similar experience! (Although the scones weren't quite as good as English ones, and we got butter instead of clotted cream... but that's just me being fussy.)
Very lovely! A bit pricy, but we did it with the groupon. Take advantage of that if they ever have it again, what a great deal!

This place is perfect. Very quiet, Clean. Good security. Friendly service. Located in the most scenic area of the city with awesome views of the harbor. A short walk to historic sites. Why stay anywhere else?

The best, even with new owners. I've stayed here many times and the rooms are beautiful and the location is perfect. Close to the north end and those insanely good restaurants. Also all the tourist stuff.

But, the real reason for the 5 stars is the people. Mike, David and Zia are simply the best at what they do. In the executive wing, they create magic every morning, happy hour and dessert. They are fun to be around and the service is off the chart.

Kind of a hidden gem, I love this hotel and can't recommend it enough.
